In my opinion successful threads tend to be:
>Posted by an experienced user. Not to suck up but vaporeon7, you usually give a good read. ^.^
>Have an intriguing or little discussed topic, polls on peoples favourite regions, games whatever may get a lot of replies but are completely uninteresting.
>Asking for a detailed answer from a short, concise question. I notice I tend to waffle two paragraphs for a question that could be asked in two sentences. It's not successful at all :'(
>Something out of the ordinary. Interesting titles, images, colours, all make a thread more likely to be successful.

So my opinion is a successful thread is something that stimulates your mind, quality over quantity. Seeing the detail put into replies shows me if a thread is good or not. And this one is ^.^
