If anyone is interested, I figured out how to do this in PKSV.
Instead of using playsong as in XSE, you would use playsound:
battle (Pokemon) 0x(level) (Item) special 0x138 playsound 0x(song) 0x(song)
be put twice, or it will be compiled as "playsound 0x0 0x0."
