Why do you like Fire-Types?: They are very unique Pokémon, and most of them also very strong. I've almost always used Fire types in my team, and though they may not always be the ones I use the most, they're usually high up there. I also tend to choose the Fire type starters over the others usually, partly because they're usually the strongest of the bunch, and in some regions it's a bit hard to find decent Fire types, especially Sinnoh :o

What was your favorite game for fire legendaries?

Kanto only brought Moltres in, and to be frank, I always thought it pretty much sucked. I always made it a goal to catch all legendaries and use them on my team, because I always felt like they were pretty strong, but I did come to realise that Moltres wasn't really good for my team, when if I remember correctly, it only actually had one Fire type move when caught, and it was pretty bad. I usually just caught them whenever I could, so I didn't really have a lot of time to train Moltres in, so I was stuck with that one weak Fire type move when challenging the E4. This was different in the remakes, however I don't really remember as much from that.

Hoenn had Groudon, and it was pretty awesome. It was a great addition to your team if you chose to catch it, could help you plow through the E4 rather easily, and it was just a pretty big help. Not many memories with it, but I really loved it.

Now with all my side talking, I better get to the point. Johto is in my opinion definitely the best region. It brought forth Ho-oh, one of my absolute favourite legendaries, with its great design, and it's really good in battle too. I remember being jealous at first when Ho-oh was the version legendary for Gold, which was the version my brother got, however I got to love Lugia much more than I've ever liked Ho-oh. It's still a pretty great Pokémon though, and definitely good for the team. I also really like Entei's design, and it's role in the third movie, though I can't say much for how it is in-battle. I only ever caught Suicune out of the 3 dogs, so never actually got to use it. Though even with that, I'll still have to put Johto as the best region for Fire legendaries, simply because the two you're able to catch are amazing.

Can't say much for Fourth or Fifth generation though, as I've never really played them.

Welcome to the club!

That was a great response. Sorry, but Groudon isn't a Fire-Type. However, it is quite a common mistake, so don't worry!

Onto discussing the Current Topic: I got to agree with Olli, Ho-Oh is definitely useful. It could even wield a strong moveset like Heat Wave/Sacred Fire, Sky Attack, Solarbeam and Dragon Pulse. Lugia is better at Defending in my opinion, but like other Fire-Types, Ho-Oh is just plain powerful with Physical/Special Moves. But of course, using Fire Arceus would just be boring, since you've wielded one of the forms of the shouldn't-be strongest Pokemon. Moltres wasn't THAT bad in my opinion, but I believe it could be better at wielding more moves, such as Status Moves such as Recover, so it actually makes sense that Moltres is based off of a phoenix, a mythical species that is able to recover themselves after getting burnt.

Then, in Unova, they had Reshiram. I don't know much about this legendary so I could not say much. I would imagine it being quite strong and that is does have a good moveset. Or else it wouldn't be a good legendary, would it? But anyways, since it is part Dragon and Fire Types, the majority of the time it wouldn't even need to worry about anything. The only problems that ever occur is if the enemy has a part Steel and Water/Fire/Anything that Fire is resistant against and has a great Special Defense. Like said before, even though I never really know it that much, it surely has something that gives it a sharp advantage against another Pokemon, like a GREAT moveset with elemental moves which all try to hit the foe for Super Effective damage anyway. That's what pretty much most Dragon-Type legendaries such as Rayquaza or Dialga can do anyway!

I'd say Johto is also the best at Fire Legendaries! After all, Ho-Oh are usually hard to get past because of it's great Attacking skills and because of it's not just great, but AWESOME Special Defending skills. Also, it is part of the type that can deal 5X damage, so that adds to the already-awesome features of Ho-Oh. It would defeat any Pokemon that would usually defeat it easily with moves that Ho-Oh is weak to.

@Olli: XD I'm just thinking of a bunch of events right now, but August's is only in... WHAT?! 8 days... Gotta get thinkin' then!

@Everyone: Try not to get confused, Groudon is not a Fire-type, it's a Ground-Type.

Haha yeah, I realised that, however seems I was a bit too late at changing it. But yeah, I feel that it's really weird that Groudon isn't actually a Fire type. I mean, it learns Fire type moves as far as I remember, the team that's trying to catch it is called team Magma, even though the fight between Groudon and Kyogre is between landmass and sea, the rivalry would've been better between a Fire and Water Pokémon, even though that would've been a bit unfair on Groudon's part, but it is anyways, and lastly, Groudon's colours just make it look like a Fire type. Why they decided to make everything seem like Groudon was a Fire type and then deciding on making it just a Ground type when it could've been dual, I don't know, but it caused a lot of confusion lol.

I agree with you. But Groudon pretty much already has the unfair part. But at least the unfair part is not as unfair as the Durant and Heatmor rivalry because Durant is at a severe disadvantage. Since land is pretty much grass too, I thought Groudon should be Part Grass and Ground Types. Luckily it's Solarbeam makes up for it, which will ALWAYS blast in one turn because of Groudon's special ability Drought, which makes the battlefield sunny. As for Kyogre, it has Drizzle, which makes the battlefield rainy, which makes Thunder always hit. Not that it even needs it because Thunder doesn't affect Groudon. Plus Groudon has a much better Type and can deal Super Effective against 5 other Types. The moveset it has expands this variety, and then Groudon becomes harder to beat. As for Kyogre, it also has quite a good variety. You did point out most of the things that made confusion about Groudon's Type (XD - Call it TypeBending), however. I'm not sure but Groudon might be found in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald near a volcano (Or something like that, but I know it is something mountainous).

Time for a New Topic: If you were allowed to improve a Fire-Type Pokemon, what would it be, and how would you improve it?

I would take the whole Tepig line, and completely redesign it. Well, not redesign, but switch it with The Snivy Line. So the snakes would be Fire-Type, and the pigs would be Grass-Type. If the Tepig Line were to be untouched, I'd just change the colours of Volcarona.

Time for a new topic!

Heatran, Reshiram and Volcarona are all unique in Combined Types. Have you got any personal thoughts about these Pokemon?

BTW, I reached over 120 points, so I'm evolving Cyndaquil.

Why do you like Fire-Types?: Why not why chose a leaf or rain when you burn foes with a flamethrower

Okay, you're both in, but you can choose another un-evolved Pokemon.

I'd have to say Heatran can be very useful even with speed. Reshiram, I'm just glad they made a Fire/Dragon Type. Onto Volcarona, it is pretty much the strongest non-legendary Bug-Type Pokemon. All because of the part Fire-Type. Bug-Types are usually VERY weak, unless paired with a good type or, well of course, unless it's a legendary like Genesect. Heatran can top anything with just a few attacks PLUS the very powerful Magma Storm, which still has a high chance of attacking YET has great attack and it traps the foe in the firestorm! As for Reshiram, I pretty much have nothing to say but very powerful, and win/awesome moveset. It could also learn elemental attacks and put out every Pokemon.

i would like to change the design of Tepig it looks like a pig to me and also of Heatran it doesn't look like a fire type legendary, they should be just fantastic and have a WOW factor which heatran doesn't have

Who was your favorite fire type user in the entire Pokemon franchise?
My answer would have to be Flannery. Even though her team is easily defeated, she still keeps a fiery personality (sorry I just couldn't resist throwing in that pun there).

Why do you like Fire-Types?: There's always been something about fire types that made me love them, but I'm not quite sure what. (: Ever since my first Pokemon game I have always chosen the Fire starter.

Honestly, I don't care much for Heatran, I don't like the fact that it has genders because it goes against the whole legendary rule. Reshiram I've never had as a Pokemon, but the combination of types in it make sense to me "Dragon/Fire".. Why haven't we had one of these before? I mean when you think of a Dragon, you think firebreathing, right? I do however like the combined types that Volacrona has, because Fire types are supereffective against Bug types, I sorta like the combination of Fire/Bug. Though in any case I've never really been a fan of bug type pokemon. (:

I forgot to put my own opinion is, so here it is! My favorite fire type specialist is Blaine, because in the manga, he gets Entei, and His Rapidash is awesome.
