Matthias Winston - Room 3

Matthias blinked a little in surprise as the door to the room opened once again and the sound of chatting people moving around in the hall outside moved in along with the boy who walked in and shut the door behind him, leaving the two in near-silence again. He seemed nervous, but friendly enough. He was probably a few years younger than Matthias, but nothing to really set them apart, apart from the slight change in height and the fact that Matthias' hair was dark-blue, semi-short and set up with a bit of hairgel, at least at the front, and Kevin's hair was red, longer and swept off to the side.

At a first glance, look-wise, they looked almost like complete opposites, but Matthias didn't really pay it any attention as he just raised his hand to give the guy a little wave and a friendly smile, now feeling a little nervous himself. "Hey! I'm… erh, I'm Matthias. I suppose so, yeah!" Internally, he felt extremely ashamed of his accent. Despite feeling like he had a really great grasp of English and that he'd always been praised for his great pronounciation, now that he was in a place where –everyone- spoke English, he couldn't help but feel that his accent started slipping a bit. Hopefully, nobody would mind.

"So, uh, hope you don't mind I've already picked a bed. We can switch if you want, but I didn't think whoever was gonna stay her besides me minded." He raised a hand to give the back of his head a little scratch while glancing over at the bed on his right, which was currently unoccupied.

Nathan Steele

Nathan was looking around the school before going to settle his things in the room they got for him. He wanted to choose his own but he wasn't complaining since his room's number was his favorite : the number 4. At least, that was a good thing with it, Nathan thought. He was still admiring the school's beauty. Even for someone living in a huge mansion, the details put in each zone was still amazing. He felt he could live there all his life. He was even feeling better here than at his own home where he would stay locked in his room all day.
He then gathered his things and proceeded to go in his dorm. On his way, he encountered a boy who was talking to the desk officer about his room pairing. Nathan was not used to sharing room with someone else but he thought that everything should be fine if his roommate isn't a jerk or a douchebag. If so, he'd have to beat him as he did with the students of his old school. He arrived quickly at his dorm and stood in front of the door. "There we go!", he thought. He opened the door and what he saw surprised him. A woman! He never even thought that his roommate would be a woman. What in the world was the person who paired them was thinking? He watched the girl, she was staring and smiling at a cup of water. Great for a first impression. "Um hi!", he said while smiling awkwardly.

→ Jamie Lane ● Room 7

"Jamie Lane," he informed the woman, wondering why she didn't already know - there were only a dozen or so students, surely they knew who everyone was.

"Ah, Jamie," maybe she did know him afterall, "I believe there's a call for you, would you mind?" Ms Fallcrest gestured to the phone in the corner of the room, away from the crowd and any listening ears.

I guess who that could be, he thought, knowing full-well that his mother was going to be on the end of the line. She would start off by lecturing him, 'where have you been?' 'We were so worried!' 'You could have been anywhere!' However, that lecturing would quickly lead to an apology. Jamie knew his mother felt guilty for her every action, every time Jamie kicked off she would come crawling back with a compromise or a gift.

He picked up the corded phone, which was dangling freely from the wall. Nancy, his mother, must have heard the footsteps, straight away she burst out into a predictable series of statements.

"Jamie! Is that you? Why did you do that? We miss you!"

Jamie had absolutely no interest in speaking with her, it was beyond that now. Adjusting the pitch of his voice, he warped his usual voice to something similar to Ms Fallcrest's.

"I'm sorry, it seems I was mistaken. We'll inform you when he's able to talk, Mrs. Lane. Good day." He slammed the phone back on to it's hook, pacing back to where his gift bag waited and strolled off to the dormitory. Valiant House he mumbled, it was a familiar name - half the mansions on his streets had similar names, but this was going to be something new entirely.

The dormitory was quiet, however he did spot some doors open - probably other new students finding their rooms. Taking the lift to the second floor, Jamie soon found room 7. He sliced the card key through the reader, opening the door to his home for the next term.

- - - - -

Ginny was sprawled out on top of her bed, her hands were behind her head and her seemingly never ending legs were stretched out. The door opening did not phase her one bit, in fact, she was experiencing a bit of delayed jet lag due to the six hour time difference between England and her home in Alabama. It was her first time leaving the country and the process to get her passport and student visa had been exhausting. So far, it seemed like many different cultures were represented so far in the small amount of students she had seen in the Grand Hall.

- - - - -

The card key took longer than he expected, he swiped it through the reader over and over again waiting for the green light. Finally, it gave him the all clear. He sighed, in a slight huff, and stumbled in to the room. As he heaved open the door, far stronger than needed, he swung big bag off his shoulder and on to the nearest bed.

The bag impacted Ginny solidly in the chest and she screamed herself awake as she now felt a throbbing pain across her bosom. The heavy duffel was soon tossed aside and she sat up, massaging the pain away as she felt tears running down her cheek. Her deep southern accent was amplified as she cried out, "The hell is wrong with you and what are you doing in my room?!"

"Your room?" Jamie asked mockingly, without a hint of an apology. "Room 7 - Jamie Lane," he said, showing her his key card, "What are you, the maid?"

He looked the girl up and down. Jamie could tell she was taller than him, even sitting down. Her accent screamed American, although he wasn't sure exactly where she was from. Jamie didn't have the pleasure of siblings, and rarely bothered socialising with the goody-two-shoes girls of his former school. This one seemed different, but he was no where near ready to roll over - this was his room, on his terms.

Selena Bravo - Room 1

Without hesitation, the boy picked up the book after Selena hurt herself by accident. He seemed pretty nice, and of course, not of her type. She remained silent as the boy continuously explained that the whole thing was a mix-up. Selena couldn't agree more, she didn't want a roommate...better yet, she doesn't want a BOY to be her roommate. She felt calm as the boy decided to return to the reception desk, leaving Selena alone to get settled. The right side of the bed was already a mess to Selena, and to make matter's worse, he already took the window-side. For Selena's condition, she needs the window side.

"Wait...!" Selena said, "Do you need me to come with you?" And yet, he couldn't stop him. Selena shrugged off and walked inside the room, shutting the door completely after herself. Setting her large suitcase and her purse on the fancy bed which was twice the size of her bed back home in Mexicali, there were nights that she couldn't sleep, and nights that she felt extremely dehydrated because of lack of sun. She glanced at the window, where the sun glared at the boy's bed. It was perfect for Selena to indulge and obtain her daily sunlight. Suddenly, she heard a loud scream from the receptionist desk. Maybe someone didn't like their roommate either.

A sudden urge to drink water came to Selena. Thankfully, she had a gallon of water in her suitcase. She quickly took it out and started gulping until the gallon was half-empty. She took a deep breath after the multiple gulps of water, and starts to sprout a pink flower on her right index finger.

Moments later, the boy finally returned from the reception desk. He looked red, probably from enragement. Selena quickly hid her gallon of water and tore the pink flower off her finger, hurting her just a little, and glanced at him, as if nothing has happened. The boy mentioned that there was absolutely no mistake. The whole thing was just set up.

"I am already comfortable, and well...I guess I don't mind living here with a boy like you." Selena said, "I mean, I at least need some social interaction seeing as I was homeschooled."

The boy kindly introduced himself. He seemed pretty funny. Selena never had any interaction with boys, and it looks to her that the boy hasn't had any interactions with girls either. She also doesn't want to let out her secret ability, like she did as she came in for the first time. Or worse...she hoped she didn't notice her vines sprouted from her wrists earlier.

"I'm Selena." She offered a handshake to the boy, named Liam. "I apologize for earlier...I seem to have an anger issue." She then glanced at the window behind him, "Oh, and by the way...can we switch beds? I prefer the window side seeing as I...MUST have a window right next to me."

Alicea froze when she heard the voice. Oh god, there was a boy in her room! Oh wait... Was... he her room mate? Why would they put her in a room with a boy? That was... odd. And she could tell he thought she was a freak. She... Blushed a bit and looked at the water, which had begun to steam. it was obvious that it was hot, having been boiling a little bit before.

"Um... Hi." was his simple statement. He was pretty handsome, maybe, and had this general air of defiance, and at the present awkwardness. She was sure it was because he had walked in on her staring at a cup of hot water for no reason. Well, no apparent reason. He couldn't know she had powers. She gave him a small smile and bowed her head, her hair hanging over her face.

"Um... H-hello... Who're you?" she asked, her voice very hard to understand, given her thick Texas accent and the fact she was mumbling. She seemed unwilling to look at him, too shy. "Um... What're you doin' in my room?"

Kevin Blake - Room 3

The boy who Kevin would be sharing a room with introduced himself as Matthias. As far as Kevin could tell, he seemed to be a few years older than him. His hair was a dark-blue or black to some people, it was cut up short and flicked up at the front due to some hair gel. He clearly liked to have his hair looking good as opposed to Kevin's longer, swished to the side look. Another strange thing about Matthias was that he reminded Kevin very much of his father, at a much younger age of course. He definitely seemed like a friendly guy, especially making the effort to smile and give Kevin a little wave in greeting. He also noticed that he had quite a strong accent, European by the sounds of it, but in light of this he seemed to have a perfect grasp of the English language. Kevin decided not to bring this up in conversation yet as they'd only just met, perhaps later when they got to know each other a bit.

After this nervous and less than smooth introduction, Matthias stated that he had already picked a bed and didn't mind switching if need be. Kevin could see him scratching the back of his head and looking over towards the unoccupied bed on his right side. Kevin looped the strap of his backpack over his head and placed it down on the floor beside the bed that Matthias looked at, he then proceeded to wheel his suitcase over near the bedside table. "This one's perfect dude, I've got no problem with it".

Kevin could now feel a weight lifted of his shoulders as he freely moved his arms about without the added weight of a backpack and a suitcase which felt like it weighed a ton. He inhaled deeply and gave a big smile as he threw himself down onto his new bed. Relaxing on the bed Kevin crossed his legs and placed his hands behind his head still smiling as if all his problems had just been washed away.

"So Matthias, how'd you end up coming here?"

the improbable beginnings of a grand performance

She arrives at the location of the school in an unassuming vehicle (said vehicle's identity being a slightly beat-up beige Volvo estate) beneath the glow of the morning sun. As she opens the door and evacuates herself from the automobile, she reaches into the morning air with a hand, as if grasping at something - and closes her palm, seemingly over nothingness, a moment later. She's made up her mind about something, and reaches into the back of the station wagon for her rosewood suitcase.

"Naturally, I'll contact home if something that requires attention comes up."

Her voice is a little hoarse after the period of time spent inside the car, and she clears her throat, acknowledging the fact. After a few moments of struggle with her luggage, during which she ascertains that everything is as it should be, she adds:

"I'll write at the earliest opportunity. Good-bye, father."

Receiving an amused smile and a few words of farewell in return, she waves cheerfully and sets off towards the front gates of the school. It is her first instance of attending a boarding school; the fees are not particularly expensive, a welcome surprise, and attendance is of her own volition, so she had encountered virtually no resistance to the prospect. She would have been attending more of sixth form for the year, anyway, and it is not as if she needs the additional education, regardless of the fact that she has set her sights on Oxbridge - probably as a History or Classics student, she muses, before gathering her thoughts back to herself.

Leaving her suitcase with the domestic help, she strides past the front area of the grounds and into the reception, where she is met by a diverse assortment of teenagers as well as a few interspersed parents.

She is used to allowing her mind free reign even while she perceives the world in its full vividness. Fixation on a specific topic would, for her, in most situations essentially be an exercise in boredom. Thus she manages, quite easily, to capture the contents of the announcement made by the staff member - who is unmistakably the chief caretaker of the institution, without even needing the uniform to assist in judgment - while directing most of her attention at mentally re-examining the estate that the school is built on. Its size had been satisfactory, but there is much to be desired from the completeness of the facilities - probably a side effect of the freshness of the institution.

What won't be made up by history will have to be made up by distinction, I hope.

She does a cursory scan of the crowd of other students, and though the information she collects is not particularly encouraging, it rapidly becomes a source of intense interest before she deliberately shuts down the process, considering it better to gather details from the students in person. Alongside the rest of the throng of people, she enters the entrance hall and collects the introductory packet, which she deduces to contain the key to her assigned room, the number of which is six. She notes, after a few calculations and with a little displeasure, that a male (!) occupant would be sharing the accommodations, but resolves herself to bear with the circumstances.

The dormitory dubbed Valiant House is comparatively small when considered alongside, say, one of the twelve houses at Harrow, but she likes the quaintness and modernity of the structure. Allowing herself a brief face-first moment in the sheets of the bed (not the softest, but it'll do), she returns herself to a sitting position and quickly moves about, unpacking and storing away the contents of her luggage; after which, she thinks, it would be an excellent time to pay a visit to her immediate schoolmates (fellow-tenants? housemates? whatever term would be the most appropriate, anyway).

Nathan Steele

Nathan shook his head in order to regain his composure. He didn't want to pass as a total idiot in front of a girl he just met. He looked at the room. By the look of it, it seemed like the girl hadn't started decorating it yet. He lifted his head when the girl asked who he was and what he was doing in her room. He couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "Listen, I'm in Room 4 so I think it's our room for now. I think they made an error but anyways my name is Nathan Steele. Pleased to meet you."
He gave out his biggest smile. After all, the girl was quite beautiful and she looked like she was a little shy. She still had that cup of water in her hand and some steam was coming from it. He decided to ask a dumb question, just wanting to know if she was mentally sick or not. "By the way, is that cup of water an imaginary friend to you or something? Just judging from the way you looked at it and I mean no offense." He scratched the back of his head, a little embarrassed.

Liam smiled genuinely when Selena introduced herself, it was a good sign. "Selena, I've always thought that was a beautiful name, I believe it means Moon Goddess, funny because my parents tell me 'moon' was my first word, it's also ironic since you like the sun." He realized that nowhere in that sentence had he answered her question and rubbed the back of his head, embarrassed. "Oh yes of course, take it I don't mind, have dibs on whatever you want, besides plants need the sun right?" When he noticed that it was her turn to be embarrassed he felt bad. "Oh um, I hope that didn't sound too rude, there's nothing wrong with you, after all I'm not exactly normal myself, I can see things other people can't, check this out."

Liam got up and pulled two perfectly smooth pebbles from his pocket that he had found outside school grounds when they caught his eye. "I like to carry around pebbles with me, you'll see why in a moment." He set one pebble on his bedside table, and put the other one on his index finger in a thumbs up position, he put his head behind his hand and scrutinized the angle between his hand and the other pebble, then he looked at the rest of the room, measuring the dimensions of the walls and ceiling in his head, gauging what he wanted to happen. Finally he looked back at the other pebble and flicked the one in his hand hard with his thumb, it flew into the second pebble, causing it to bounce onto the ceiling then the back wall and then back into the other pebble at the exact angle, they both began to propel each other between the back wall, the ceiling, and the back wall in an endless cycle, going up down forward and back but never left or right so as to have no chance of hitting Selena until Will reached out his hands and caught both of them out of the air at the same time.

With his little trick done Will sat on the floor to relax a moment and rub his eyes, they were sore from not blinking the whole time. After his eyes stopped burning he remembered the beds and got all of his stuff off of the left bed, lifted his backpack off the floor and stood aside with a slight bow. "Sorry for getting distracted, your sleeping quarters milady." He said with playful fake formality as he gestured to the bed he had been on. "Also, sorry about my singing earlier, I'll try not to do it when you're in the room, although I feel I should warn you now, I can't stop myself from singing in the shower, feels too good!" He put a theatrical smile on his face. "Speaking of which, I can try to find a bathroom somewhere else to use, if you want the one in here to yourself, I know girl's need their privacy when it comes to that kind of thing."

Dominic "Dom" Irving

"Mama, come on! I'll be fine!" Dom laughed and gave his mother one more hug. He looked over at his old man who he now towered over. "Take care of her Pops." Dom's eyes teared up a little. He didn't like leaving people... Not after what happened so long ago. He looked at the little old couple and Dom gave a small smile. "I'll miss y'all." The last call for his flight to England was called. As he walked away Dom could hear goodbyes from his friends and family. He turned around a gave one last wave before a swarm of people took them from his sight.

Back to the U.K. eh? I wonder if i might see.... no probably not. When Dominic was seperated from his original family back in Scotland, he remembered that one of his brothers was adopted by a family in England. Dom gave a sigh and gazed out his window. Terrible yet fond memories resided on that island. This time it would be different though, it was a fresh start for Dom. He touched where his legs should be but, instead felt a cold hard surface. Dom grimaced. As amazing as it as that he was able to walk again he felt a little sadness.

He would no longer be that amazing athlete in the pros. There would be no way that they let someone with robot legs and one robotic arm on to the field to compete with "normal people" Dom's face turned to a saddened expression and he turned just in time to see a young girl with her dad. "Look daddy! He's a cyborg!" Dom just grinned and started making robot motions. "See daddy! He really is!" The girl laughed and jumped around as the pair kept walking down the aisle. At least a few good things come out of it...

"E'llo sir! Please come this way." Dom actually giggled a little when the man from the academy talked to him. The think accent hit him off guard. Dom usually got **** from his friends back home about his own accent, but that was cause he lived in the ghettos of America. Now that he zoned back into the world he could actually here people all around him speaking with British accents. Dom gave a small chuckle, the boys back home would be having the time of their lives making fun of all these people.

Dom followed the old man out of the crowded airport and to a bus. There was hardly any other kids on the bus, mostly due to the fact that the bus was for people that needed help for payments to go to this fancy academy. Seeing that Dom's parents weren't very wealthy, he had to apply for a scholarship but, due to his story he was one of the first one's picked for a scholarship. Dominic picked a seat in the back by himself and drifted off to sleep as the bus rumbled to a start.

"Excuse me sir... Sir we have arrived!" The old man was standing next to Dom and shaking him a little. "Oh, sorry sir! Must have dozed off a little" He said with a quiet laugh and he gave the man a pat on the back. He stood up and it was completely apparent that Dom was a giant compared to the rest of the patrons on the bus. Here we go... He thought to himself as he shuffled to the front of the vehicle. The sun shone bright in Dom's as he stepped off the bus.

Well i'll be damned... Dominic's face lit up with a huge grin when he saw Gilded Halls. This place was so much nicer than any that he had ever seen before. The enormous crowd that Dom had expected was standing right there in front of him. "Please, follow me." The man led the small group of scholarship kids through a wave of parents saying goodbye to their children. As they walked through the group Dom could feel the stares of many baring down on him. Is it the arm, the legs, or the fact i'm a giant? He laughed at the little joke he made and just smiled and waved around him mechanical arm.

The small group of kids followed the old man into the almost empty Main Hall. At the end of the room sat a proper looking older woman, behind what seemed to be the reception desk. "That there is Ms. Fallcrest. She's a nice lady and she is in charge of welcoming and checking in the students. You kids go over there and check yourselves in." The old man instructed Dom's group and walked away. Dominic walked up to the end of the small line and once again received stares from the rest of the people in line. Subtle much...

After a few minutes of wait it was finally the metal giants turn in line. "Hello ma'am!" Dom grinned at the nice old lady behind the counter. "Your name please?" "Dominic Irving." She looked up. "Ah I see, so you're the athlete i heard about." Dom touched his arm and gave a weak laugh. " Haha yes... The formal athlete." He gave a disheartened look and grabbed his things off the table and walked away quickly.

"Room 8 huh?" Dom wondered aloud as he walked up the flight of stairs. "I wonder what my roomie will be like?" He reached the room and pulled out his card key. Here go's nothing... The door opened to reveal the nicest bedroom Dominic had ever seen. It even had its own bathroom! Dom looked around excitedly until he found a boy on one of the beds. Compared to him the kid was a shrimp and he looked asian... There was no "chinks" as the boys back home said around in Riverdale. Hmmm... might as well meet my new roommate. Dom got up and nudged the other boy a little. "Sleepy time is over!"

Matthias Winston - Room 3

As Kevin wheeled his case over next to his bed and proceeded to climb on top of it and lay down, Matthias seemed to ease up ever so slightly from the otherwise slightly stiff pose he was still standing in. Instead, he moved back, placing his hands on the window ceil, pulling himself up to sit in the ceil of the open window, feet dangling slightly off the ground.

"Great to hear. How I came here? Well… erh, you know, that's a really good question. From the looks of things, only a handful of people came here. And I have a hunch that they're not just from the UK and surrounding countries. That, and… well, I haven't really done anything extraordinary during my studying for me to get noticed or even invited to this kind of… boarding school, I guess? College? I always mess up the terms, heh."

He glanced over at Kevin, giving a little grin as he raised a hand to brush his fingers lightly through his hair while a small breeze blew in through the window behind him. "I'm from Denmark, so… yeah, sorry if I get something wrong. What about you though? How did you wind up here?"

Ginny swung her legs off of her bed and stormed over to the short boy that had entered her room uninvited, "Looks like you need a class in manners, boy!" She emphasized the word boy as she towered over him, putting one hand on each of his shoulders as she roughly slammed him against the wall. "I am not your maid, you little snot. It looks like, somehow, I'm supposed to manage living with you at this school." She pinned him down with her left forearm and fished for her card key, "Ginevra Morrigan - Room 7. Read it. Apparently, we're stuck together." She moved her forearm up to his throat and pinned him there, but not hard enough to really hurt him, "Just remember who's the little boy in this room. Hint, it's not me."

- - -

Surprised by her sudden burst forward, Jamie paused, ending up being pushed by the girl. His back slammed against the wall, he struggled to get a word in as the girl, Ginerva, reeled a series of attacks.

Her last comment finally hit home, little boy. Jamie knew he wasn't exactly tall, but he was definitely not some child that she could mess around. He huffed, shoving her backwards and off of him.

"Get lost," he uttered, barely more than a whisper. Anger was clear in his eyes, he was close to snapping. Instead of retaliating, his conscience managed to make a snap decision, he stormed back to the door and left the room - slamming it shut behind him, shouting obscenities all the way.

- - -

"Run away, little boy!" Ginny yelled after her roommate stormed out of the room. In a fit of anger, she took his duffel and threw it against the wall near his bed. No idea how I'm going to manage living with that little snot. She sighed and took a deep breath before leaving her room to find someone, anyone, else to interact with than him. He would probably go storm off and come back crawling later, or try to strangle her in her sleep, or maybe just go tell on her. Only time would tell.

Kevin Blake - Room 3

With the nervous first encounter now over, both boys started to relax a bit more. Matthias was now sitting up on the window-sill which he stood at just a few seconds ago and Kevin was still relaxing on his bed. Matthias explained how he came about to be here at this school, he also took note of the fact that the students here were coming from all over and he finally stated that he didn't do anything extraordinary that would have allowed the college to spot him or take an interest in him.

Kevin knew all too well what he meant, the fact that Kevin caused a lot of trouble and spent most of his time in the principal's office of his old school, he had no idea why this place which seemed so upper class and fancy would took an interest in a boy who had a track record of disliking school.

Kevin was now deep in thought until he was snapped out of it by Matthias who stated that he was from Denmark and then went on to ask Kevin how he got here. Kevin closed his eyes and now sat up in the bed turning himself so that he now sat upright on the edge of the bed. He placed his hands together and stared at the ground worried about what Matthias will make of his story.

"This probably isn't the best way to make a good first impression but I'll tell you my story anyway. I uhh … I used to cause a lot of trouble in my old school, I had little time for school but like every other kid, I just had to go, end of story. So while I was in school, I probably spent about nighty percent of my time in the principal's office and the other ten percent at home. To be honest I actually rarely went to class. After a while my parents decided to send me to a different school, they knew it was going to be difficult finding a school that would accept me given my track record, but surprisingly the only school to reply was this one. So here I am, trying to start again with a clean slate. I promised my father I would hit the books this time, I can't let my parents down again."

Kevin was careful to leave out the parts about his parents growing distant from him because of this 'gift' he had. It was tough enough telling someone he was some kind of troublemaker never mind about the fact he possessed some kind of strange ability.

"And that's my story". Kevin looked up at Matthias, raised his eyebrows and gave a nervous looking smile, worried about what Matthias would make of his ex-troublemaker roommate.

"Listen, I'm in Room 4 so I think it's our room for now. I think they made an error but anyways my name is Nathan Steele. Pleased to meet you."

He seemed nice. She... Was still not very talkative, though that was her nature. She relaxed a bit though as he explained. So it wasn't him just barging into her room, he was actually supposed to be here. She gave him a curious look. He... Had not asked her name. Did he just not care what her name was? Oh well. She decided the polite thing to do would be to give it anyways.

"Alicea Bernard... It's a pleasure to meetcha too..." she mumbled softly, her eyes following his gaze to the cup. He was still wondering about that cup... And his next words made her freeze.

"By the way, is that cup of water an imaginary friend to you or something? Just judging from the way you looked at it and I mean no offense."

Yup. He thought she was crazy. Absolutely loony. But which would make him think she was crazier, pretending she had an imaginary friend like some little child, or telling him she could make things hot or cold just by looking at them? After some debate she decided that the truth was the best option, no matter how insane.

"..." She just couldn't find the words at all to speak. She put the cup down and sighed, letting her actions speak for her. She looked back at the cup, and soon the steam would stop entirely, and then after a little while longer little frosty beads of water would form on it. It would take a few minutes, but it was cold again. She let him pick it up or touch it or whatever he wanted, so he could see for himself that the steaming cup of water was now cold, as if it had just been pulled out of the fridge. Of course now SHE felt really cold, and began shivering. THAT had never happened before. She never felt like this, why was she so cold? Didn;t matter she supposed, but maybe she better leave that ability alone for a while...

"S-see?" she asked weakly, gesturing at the cup. "it's not... a-an imaginary friend... I-it's... crazier..."

Matthias Winston - Room 3

Matthias sat quietly and listened to Kevin's story, his hands placed on either side of him on the windowsill, feeling the summery breeze brushing in behind him. He nodded his head slightly. He could definitely understand what the guy was going through, from what he'd told him. Matthias himself hadn't been to school since kindergarden, and there were a lot of times where he longed after having a more… normal life, but even being homeschooled and doing fairly well, Matthias wasn't exactly… eager, about studying, even if he did pull through with it when put to the test.

"Sounds pretty rough. I did all of my homework… or well, almost all of it, eventually. I know how you felt though, life should be more about enjoying yourself rather than cramming all kinds of useless stuff like geometry into your head, right?"

He sent Kevin a wry little grin, raising his hands and stretching his arms out over his head, huffing quietly.
"Don't worry about it. If you need me to try and give you a nudge to get your stuff done, don't be afraid to ask. I'm sure I could help motivate you to get whatever stuff we'll be doing here done."

He paused for a moment as a few people were apparently shouting and, in one case, swearing rather loudly, outside. Matthias let out a little chuckle. "Sounds like people are getting along well already. Actually… there isn't much reason for the school to get a hold of a bunch of… well, random kids like us and put us all in here together without some kind of plan in mind. It just doesn't make sense."

Tilting his head a little back, he stared up at the ceiling for a few moments, a thoughtful look on his face. After a few moments, he looked down at Kevin again, a mischievous little smile playing on his lips.

"… It's a little fishy if you ask me. Care to help out with a bit of investigating?"

Nathan Steele

Nathan was still looking at the cup of water. He lifted his head and he watched her look at him in curiosity. Then she mumbled her name and it hit him. How did he forget to ask her name? It wasn't very courteous nor polite of him to do this. Maybe it's because he never really interacted with a girl before this day. Usually all girls were at his feet so he had little to no effort to do to date them. I guess she isn't like the girls at my ancient school. He couldn't help but smile as he felt the stay at Gilded Halls would be rather exciting.
After him asking about the cup, she looked like she was in a mental debate with herself. God, I hope she isn't a total freak. Then she seemed to concentrate on the cup again. Nathan was a little surprised by her actions. Then the steam stopped and the water began to froze. He also noticed the girl was shivering. How could she do this? Did she have special abilities just like him?
"S-see?" she asked weakly, gesturing at the cup. "it's not... a-an
imaginary friend... I-it's... crazier..."
Her voice wasn't as strong as before. He looked at the cup and closed his eyes for a few seconds. His hands transformed into iron and he broke the cup with ease. He turned to the girl and offered his jacket with a smile. "There, you seem cold. Also you're not the only one with powers, I have some too."

Selena Bravo - Room 1

"Wait..."

Selena was stunned by the incredible trick Liam had attempted. Two pebbles made their way towards Selena, but was caught by him on time. He seemed to have above normal eyesight, but...it was more of a superhero eyesight. Selena heard of a noise from the outside of her dorm, some sort of a light blast. She went over to open the door to check what it was. And she couldn't believe her eyes... I...I...can't believe it. It was all Selena could think of. There were students with incredible abilities. Abilities similar to her plant manipulation. Selena then stepped back inside, and closed the door, facing Liam afterwards.

"I'm beginning to think that this school is for people with weird but amazing abilities. Even...I have an amazing ability." Selena said, snapping her right finger to grow a daisy on her right index finger. "I have an ability to grow anything of plant. I can also manipulate them, and reach anything using..." she then starts to sprout a vine from her left wrist. The vine consists of a leaf on the end and tiny little leaves following thereafter. It was a short vine, just to show off the boy who was moving his belongings to the wall side of the bed. "...this, basically."

There was a brief pause around the room.

"Actually, I wouldn't mind sharing a bathroom with you, as long as you don't hog it or dump a stink bomb in there. I promise I won't hog it either." Selena said, "Girls do need their privacy, and I'll try to respect yours." Her vine retracted back to her wrist once more. "Thanks for allowing me to take the bed aside from the window. As I'm a plant, I do need my sunlight."

It took about 15 minutes to get settled. She stored her five gallons of fresh water under her bed, but in the meantime she drank the other half of the gallon she drank earlier. She hoped Liam would not ask why she not only drinks so much water, but to why she drinks like a pig. Gulping to every last drop of water, Selena then placed the gallon under her bed.

"I'll give you some time alone, as I'm gonna go outside to obtain a little sunlight. I'll catch you later!" She said as she grabbed her bag, waved goodbye to Liam, and closed the door after herself.

As the door closed to herself, she shrugged, twitched, and groaned. I'm gonna live with a BOY?

Kevin Blake - Room 3

"Investigating huh? Alright … count me in." Kevin himself was curious as to what was going on in this school. Why did they accept him? Why gather a bunch of random students from the opposite ends of the world, not make them do any kind of entrance exam, and just take them on board immediately. It didn't make much sense and that's why it was strange.

Kevin then stood up from the edge of the bed and rummaged around in his suitcase to find his phone, it didn't take long before he found it. His quickly grabbed it, checked the time and threw it onto the bed with the screen still lit up. He then pulled out a bottle of water he had stored away, he took a few mouthfuls, closed the lid tight and set the bottle down on the bedside locker. Finally he picked up the backpack he wore earlier and looped his head through the strap once more, and then proceeded to readjust the bag and make sure it sat properly. Looking over at Matthias, he gave a reassuring nod. "I'm ready whenever you are".

It all sounded so shady … investigating. They were only simple students here not detectives, although Kevin's curiosity did get the better of him, and he now wanted to know why everyone was called here.

It was then that Kevin could suddenly feel the tips of his fingers tingling. This wasn't unusual to him as it pretty much happened without fail every time he drank water. He looked down at his hand which now dangled carelessly by his side. He clenched it into a fist hoping the tingling would stop. But he had a better idea, he had a pair of gloves in his backpack which usually helped get rid of the tingling sensation. As he sat down on the bed to remove his backpack, a small little jolt of lightning jumped across from his hand over towards his phone and the screen was now a pitch black. This was most unusual as Kevin drank water all the time, sure he got the tingling sensation every time he drank water, but never has he reacted to something without touching it.

Looking over at the now pitch black screen on his phone and realizing that he'd just demonstrated his power, he immediately stood up and looked at Matthias, unsure if Matthias had just witnessed Kevin's 'trait' or not.

Evan and Dom – Awake in Room 8

*SNORT* - "huh?" Evan swiftly picks up the willow branch, pointing it inches away from this, this hulk's neck. The room is tense and time seems to freeze. Evan relents and lowers his guard. "Hahahahaha…" he chuckles out loud. "I'm Evan, Kyong. And you must be my roommate."

"Thanks for the warm welcome!" Dom gave him a quick smile. He reached his hand out, "It's Dominic Irving but, you can just call me Dom. "By the way... why does a "chınk" have a Scottish accent?

The tip of the branch flicks up again. "Chınk..." he scoffs, "You must know better than to speak to someone like that." Dom frowned... "What's wrong with saying chınk? Isn't that what people with the squinty eyes and the black hair are?" Evan lowers his stick. "I'd think that a Scot has seen his fair share of Asians." He stands up, straight, looking directly into Dom's eyes. (Why is he so big...wait, was I raising my arm?)

"Hmm... Asians?" Dom grinned. "Isn't that term offensive to use? Everyone back home just calls them chinks."

"I'll have you know that if anything, I'm Korean. And I was raised in Scotland. Apparently ... just like you." Evan looks down. "And what are you, the Terminator?" The motors in Dom's prosthetics whirr quietly in an otherwise silent room. The air was filled with tension, as the two boys just looked at each other. And when the tension reached its peak, Dom burst out laughing. "Terminator? Really?" He fell over and could hardly breathe.

Evan just stares forwards. He raises a finger, as if motioning for Dom to wait. Tension fills the room yet again and Evan breaks it as he lashes at the wall with his willow branch in frustration, snapping it in two. He sits back down on the bed with his face in his hands.

"Hey Evan, you okay there?" But he may as well have been asking himself the same question. Only a moment ago he was laughing, but now he didn't know why he couldn't breathe. For a star athlete who is usually calm and collected, Dom found himself uncannily worked up. He had his share of close moments, those make or break instances between getting tackled or running into the endzone, and yet here he was with his skin paling and flushing, muscles tensing, heart pounding over a boy sitting crouched on a bed. Of all the emotions to feel, Dom was ... frightened.

Evan falls over, clutching his head. "Aaaggh, aaaaaugh! F***! I can't see - why the f*** does this always have to f***ing happen!" He punches the metal bedpost, leaving a knuckle-sized dent in it. (F*** this.) His hand beings to swell to double its size.

The boys are still. Evan looks up and exhales. "Am I okay there?" He grimaces. "I could be asking you the same thing." Dom gave a confused look. "Yeah I'm fine... just had a weird feeling a moment ago." He extended a hand out to the boy on the ground. "So what was that little episode you just had there?"

Evan hesitates. (Should I explain all of it?) "I get headaches. Sometimes my vision becomes...distorted when they're happening. But you look like you've just seen a ghost." Dom gave a small laugh. "I'll be fine, it's a bit unusual for me to act that way, sorry."

(What was that? A big guy like him freaking out over someone else's headache?) "No, it's me that should be sorry," Evan apologized. "We kinda got off on the wrong foot. Hey, I'm Evan." He attempts to smile. "You already gave me your name, dumbass." Dominic gave a huge grin. "So, how about we go out and explore this place?"

"Good idea. I'm gonna go find something to fix this bedpost and my headache." Evan looks down. "And my hand, too." He couldn't see his knuckles anymore. "Yeah, we're gonna need to get that fixed up." Dom stood up and opened the door. "Now let's get going!"

But in the back of his mind Dom felt weird. It was strange, just the way he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. His palms were still sweating.

Evan followed closely behind him.

"I think there's something wrong with me."

When Will saw the look of astonishment on Selena's face a very rare event happened, he was proud of himself. Well would you look at that, I actually impressed somebody for once in my life. Then Selena began to show some of her plant traits and briefly explained her powers. So she IS a plant girl...hmm no wonder the air around her smells so nice, she probably has all the same chemicals in her that flowers use. Hmm if I ever want romance I should probably look elsewhere, besides the fact that we live together and that MUST be frowned upon, there's always the possibility she could seduce me and her kiss would be poison. He chuckled at his own batman joke before deciding he was glad he didn't tell anyone, he wasn't sure how many people here would be fans of batman...

Will didn't want to follow Selena around but regardless he didn't sit in the room for long before he was bored out of his gourd, after a moment of thinking he realized where he wanted to go. A school this big and nice MUST have a pool...quite a nice change of place from that hell hole...I mean why of all the high schools to not have pools, would there be one in the middle of the desert? Oh but wait...Selena said she was going to get some sun...where better to do that than the pool? There's water there too. He began to wonder what she would look in a bathing suit, but before his brain strayed too far from reality and decency he shook his now-red face. No no no! I have had enough excitement for my first day here already...besides she said she apparently has anger problems...I don't plan on getting strangled by vines.

Liam figured Selena had enough of a lead that he shouldn't run into her by now, so he decided to take a walk. As soon as he left the room he heard a loud thump and cursing from above his head, probably somebody on the second floor not getting along as well as he and Selena had...and then another thump? "Hm...guess no matter where you go, there's always trouble in paradise, especially where multi-cultural adolescents are involved." Will stretched his arms and put them behind his head, wondering if Selena was right about this being a place for people like them. Nah...I'm sure the rest of them are just really smart, besides if it's just us that does a lot to explain why we got put in a room together.
