[ The Take-over ]

It happened very quickly four years ago. When Sinnoh's Team Galactic had been quiet or even entire rooted out for years, a new group rose out of nothing. Without attracting any attention to themselves prior to the big move the group, calling themselves Division, took over the Elite 4 with an unorthodox combination of Pokémon and fire weaponry. They were entirely unprepared and Division emerged out of the bloodbath victorious.

It took a year for them to establish their power in Sinnoh. They oppressed any attempts at rebellion, which there were plenty, and showed themselves to be ruthless, unforgiving and entirely unafraid to use violence. Some might say they were even overly keen to use their arms. General Charles King, the leader of Division, took the position of president of Sinnoh although most of the time no one really knew where he was or what he was up to. Rumors went that he was looking for Arceus, the God of all Pokémon, because surely powerful men would always be looking for legendary Pokémon? It had always been that way in the past.

Contrary to popular belief Charles King had actually been planning the take-over of his next target, Hoenn. Hoenn wasn't a region with a large armed force, they were completely overrun by King's well-trained army of recruits. Where his take-over of Sinnoh had relied mostly on surprise, King had taken his time to make sure he had the man-power to add Hoenn to his territory and so he did.

Johto and Kanto, together, formed another large obstacle. Kanto did have a substantial army, especially after it figured out that Charles King wasn't a man to be content with only half of the world. King, however, was a very smart man. While he was visibly busy drilling both volunteer and less-volunteer recruits into soldiers he actually sent in spies into the Kantonese government. He knew that Johto mostly relied on Kanto for anything and that any army from there would be situated in Kanto itself. It took two years of careful planning and infiltration before Project Sleeper was set in motion. On September 23rd all spies, at the same time, pulled the trigger on all most of Kanto's highest-ranking men, including the president. In the chaos that followed Division troops invaded both Kanto and Johto who had no defenses.

Well, they conquered almost everything. Cianwood Island held its own, because of the surrounding sea and its small size it was easily defendable. What King didn't account for was that Johto might hold its own troops back. When the final battle of Septermber 23rd took place Kanto's forces fought against Division and lost, while most of Johto's remaining army was pushed back and chose the island as their last stronghold. And it held.

As for Unova, word has it they've trained nuclear missiles at King's headquarters in Sinnoh. If he makes a move towards them they'll blow him and the continent sky-high. It's a stale mate for they know that the whole Division army will head towards them if they try, but King can't attempt to get to them first or he'll be sure to get blown to bits. Still there is no help to be expected from Unova.

[ The Conditions ]

Conditions are tough in the regions under Division control. Each region was left under control of one of King's closest men, with special mayors in each city to see to their control. Johto's acting president is Coronel Marcus Grey who is not a man to be provoked. Besides the major players the whole region was also populated with Division soldiers, most of them all too happy to act at any kind of disturbance, as they've been ordered.

Division soldiers draw about a 50-50 line of volunteers and people who were forced to participate, though you shouldn't expect sympathy, as sympathy costs these soldiers much themselves. The soldiers go through a rigorous training program resulting in most of them being quite good at what they do. Most of all, the vast majority of them are mean, vindictive and plain bastards. They're known to be incredibly loyal, but they also have a reputation of lashing out to the local population if only out of boredom.

Most of the world lives in recession now. War takes its toll, and this one has taken it's due share. People are in a general poor and miserable condition besides the ones that openly support Devision, King and Grey. Division goes by a "if you're not for us, you're against us" principle and acts accordingly, and misbehavior towards them gets punished severely. The shooting squads have been generously used.

[ The Rebels ]

Those are the general conditions of the regions under suppression. It hasn't been much better at Cianwood island. The first challenge had been to simply sustain themselves. Cianwood was not a farming community, most of the island relied on shipments of food from the mainland. They went through a period of tight food rationing and even near-starvation before they'd figured out a system to feed themselves by a combination of fishing and farming. There is no other meat in Cianwood besides fish, and that there is aplenty.

The next challenge was the population. They did have a portion of the Johto army behind them, but most had been stationed in Kanto and a lot had fallen while trying to hold Cianwood. In fact the only reason Division hadn't tried to re-take them was by clever deception. They pretended to have far more men than they did by parading every man they had. A lot of the rebel's quarters was built underground so it was easy to pretend they had more than they did by stationing all of the soldiers above ground and making it look like there was a lot going on underground. There was a natural cave on Cianwood where locals had been mining for centuries, they'd managed to craft it into make-shift soldier's quarters and headquarters. It was air-bombing-proof which was all they needed, even if it was humid, cold and crudely lit by electric lamps. They solved this problem by making secret night-time trips to the mainland to gather recruits. There were many frustrated locals to be found and making use of contacts in the major cities they had been able to gain a good amount of recruits to train back at their headquarters.

The last challenge was the biggest one yet, arms. The only way to get arms was to raid Division arms factories and warehouses. Each major city had one or two arms storages, though they were heavily guarded. Carefully planned raids were prepared to get hands on weaponry, but the toll was heavy in terms of men. Lately they'd also made contacts with a lot of forced workers at the weapons factories to smugly weapons, small parts at a time. Even now they're still under-armed.

Most of all the condition at the rebels was just a little better than on the mainland, only in the way that they were free. In essence at least.

[ And Now ]

Now the rebels were ready to take a more active stance. After months of just trying to keep themselves alive they were finally ready to get into action. Over the months of oppression lots of small, local rebel factions had been popping up over Johto. People who couldn't get to the Island or people who preferred to thwart Division in their own ways. They were mostly impulsive and un-organized. The Cianwood Rebels' plan was to send young but trained soldiers to the parts of the largest rebel centers with orders to help the rebels as much as they can, but to still obey orders only directly from Cianwood. Anything they do that would compromise the Island would not be tolerated.

You are one of these soldiers. You will have either been a Cianwood local or someone who's escaped from the mainland and reached the island. You'll have been trained by the rebels in stealth, weapon use and Pokémon use all for the purpose of this mission. You will be sent to a part in Johto and given missions from both the Island and your respective rebel's faction. This is step one in the big plan of the rebels and, make no mistake of it, the plan all leads up to the death of Coronel Marcus Grey.

You will be provided with a Pokémon and the means to catch more, as Pokémon are an integral part of combat. However the ownership of Pokémon is forbidden in the conquered regions so you will have to be very careful to keep them hidden.

[ Dramatis Personae ]

-General Charles King is the leader of Division and therefore the leader of Sinnoh, Hoenn, Johto and Kanto. He pulls the strings of the whole organization, is a brilliant man and the one with the big ideas. He's also extremely paranoid and rarely shows himself in public, letting his puppets do the talking for him. General Charles King is in his mid-fifties but looks older, which deep lines in his face and white military-style hair. His eyes are deep black and can look warm when he want them too and cold as ice when it suits him.

-Coronel Marcus Grey is such a puppet. He's the acting president of Johto which means he basically rules it, except when it comes to direct orders from King. His headquarters are situated in Goldenrod City which is heavily guarded. You don't get into Goldenrod without a very good reason, and a very good reason written on official documents. The Coronel is a man in his late fourties with dark brown hair streaked with grey and blue eyes. He's a bit fat but makes up for it by being a great shot, sharpshooter and quite trigger-happy.

-Natalie Pierce is one of the rebel leaders and the one in charge of recruits. She can be a very soft woman, almost motherly, but there's no mistake she's been in a fight and she's killed people. Natalie's very skilled with a gun and personally teaches all her recruits the skills they need to know. She's in her early thirties, has dark brown hair that's always pulled tightly back into a long ponytail and blue eyes. Her body is also marked with scars, many of the scratch and knife-wounds, a broken nose and one big bullet-scar on her shoulder. She was a decorated officer in the army before becoming part of the rebels.

-Major Rolfe Gains is another leader of the rebels and in charge of the actual troops. While Natalie sticks to her recruits and young rebel soldiers, Gains is the one in charge of the actual remains of the Johto National Army. Fitting, because he was the one who lead them in the first place. While most of the others abandoned their ranks, Major Gains clings to it. He tends to be ruthless and unsympathetic, but he gets the job done. He's in his late-fourties, has graying straw hair and he, too, has many scars to prove his status.

-Romana Kiev was a local of Cianwood before joining the rebels. She's not a fighter, although they taught her how to shoot a gun. Romana has gained her high position by basically keeping everyone alive. She was the one who solved the food question, she's in charge of fishing and food production. She's often found in her greenhouse tending to the plants along with other rebels who weren't fit to be soldiers. She's a kind woman with a practical side, she's good with numbers and eeps close tabs on food rationing while making sure everyone stays well-fed.

-Giorgio is often in charge of raids and he's also in charge of teaching the flight squat. Originally from Olivine he escaped to Cainwood about a week after take-over on a make-shift raft pulled by his Finneon. He got his position in the leadership board by sheer respect. From arriving on the island on the last log of his badly-built raft to always volunteering for raids and attempting the gutsiest maneuvers. Call him reckless or brave, one thing's for certain, Giorgio has balls of steel. It was soon apparent that the man was leadership material and he started heading the raids. He was the first one to pull off a weapons raid in his hometown of Olivine, where he successfully flew in his Helicopter, loaded a wooden box full of weaponry and flying back, leaving the guards tied to a pole in their underwear in an empty warehouse. It was legendary, they said you could hear Coronel Grey's shouts all the way from Goldenrod. He's never told anyone his last name on the account of it being too embarrassing to bear. Giorgio has olive skin, black hair shaved in checkers on one side and a goatee. A day when Giorgio isn't grinning is a day you know you're in serious ****. Now he fills in the position of raid supervisor.

[ Rules ]

- Standard PC rules apply

-This is rated [T] for violence. There will be quite a bit of it in this roleplay, as your characters will have to fight and eliminate enemy soldiers while the enemy soldiers would like nothing more than to vaporize them. I would like to implore you not to make your descriptions all too graphic however. There's a difference between stating that someone gets stabbed in the stomach or describing actually how the organs react to the sudden stabbage. Capiche?

- As the GM, my word is final, there might be some things you disagree with, and I invite you to question me and ask things, but I shall always have the final say.

- This roleplay will go in chaptered-mission form, which most missions being individual to each roleplayer. This means I will spent a lot of time creating an individual story-line for you, and therefore your active participation will be greatly appreciated.

- When catching Pokémon, end your post with the ball shacking. I will label the wild Pokémon with their rarity, and unless it's labeled as "very rare" I will likely not refuse the capture.

- However, the better your post is, the higher the lever, or perhaps it will receive an egg-move or useful item. Also please check with me first before attempting a shiny-capture.

- Though battles do feature in the roleplay, they're not the main feature. I don't want you to write long detailed battle posts, instead think practical. Your Pokémon level up by involving them into the story regardless of battles.

- Reservations lasts for 24 hours.

- Have fun, this is a rule.

(Haha! the first post is mine!!)

"Trublade, I take it. My name's Natalie Pierce. You've been selected to undertake a... special mission," a young woman stated as Seth entered her office. Not taking any time to get to the explanation, she casually slid a folder across her desk for the boy to check. Nodding slightly, he reached for the folder and... hastily bent down to retrieve the fallen contents that slipped out of his grasp. Natalie couldn't help but bury her face into her hand for a moment while Seth disappeared from view on the other side of the desk. That was about five minutes of break time, used sorting the mission file, wasted. When he returned, he had the folder mostly in order and a photo in his right hand.

"Who's this? She looks like a medic," Seth stated as he, carefully, opened the folder and looked over the papers inside.
"She is. Kristina Esperanza runs a make-shift clinic in the lighthouse of Olivine. Right now, she's the leader of the rebel faction there. We've decided to expand and send a handful of our own troops as scouts to the mainland to aid factions there; these scouts will still answer to us at headquarters, though," Natalie explained, catching Seth's look of displeasure as he read and listened to the name "Olivine."
"Oh... I guess I'll be stationed there, then?" Seth asked, reluctance in his tone.
"That's correct. Our supplies in terms of weaponry and ammunition are already low; getting lower as time passes. Before things get more desperate, we want to obtain some new arms for our cause," Natalie continued, Seth flipping through other pages of the report, "Olivine is the center of imports and exports for Johto; naturally Division has used the town as their major force of trading and receiving supplies. They also have numerous places for armories to store their volumes of weapons. Ideally, if we can take the harbor and the armories and drive the enemy soldiers out of the city, the enemy's supply line will be severely crippled and we can receive and send our own shipments to the mainland and other continents across the world."
"Since I'm the only one in this room with you, though, it makes me assume I'm the only one that's going to Olivine. That's a lot of pressure to put on one soldier given the mission objective," the boy muttered.
"That is your overall objective; for right now the primary goal in your mission is to survive and join the ranks of the rebels in Olivine. Right now we just don't have the supplies and manpower to move that many people to the mainland, so we're working with what we can afford," the young woman bluntly remarked, lifting a black backpack onto the desk and pushing that to Seth. The boy set the folder on the surface and grabbed the pack. Opening the pack revealed some basic survival supplies, a handgun, and some kind of communicator. Frowning, he set the backpack onto the desk and pulled out the handgun to examine it. Natalie couldn't help but express a level of concern as the boy checked the weapon. It wasn't a tranquilizer gun. If that wasn't bad enough, there were no spare bullets in the backpack to go along with the loaded weapon. "That communicator is on a frequency unique to you, Trublade. You will be able to report to us any time you feel it's necessary, but if that signal gets compromised you're the only one that will be effected by it."
"And only a single magazine... I know times are tough, but you'd think at least one extra clip could be spared in case this thing runs out. Not that I really want to plan on using it," Seth commented, placing the gun back in his bag.
"Once you make it ashore you'll probably run into some soldiers to pickpocket; you'll be arriving tonight during the fireworks display. One of our flyers will be escorting you to the mainland. It'll be dangerous dropping you into the city itself, but with luck the beach will not be as populated once the celebration starts," Natalie continued to explain, "After that there will be some rebels in the nearby forestland to escort you to the lighthouse. Before I forget to mention it, though, Esperanza is a very important person. As of right now she is the only thing closest to a medic they have in the city in addition to being the rebel leader. If she is captured, or gets killed, all might be lost. Do everything in your power to prevent that (Seth hesitantly nodded to that order). Now that that's out of the way, I would like you to go meet with your partner that will drop you off tonight; as I've been told you know who she is already. That's all; dismissed."
"Yes mam," Seth saluted as he turned and walked for the door.
"Private Trublade?"
"Yes?"
"Your supplies... still on the desk..."
"Of course."
"(Arceus, you owe us one.)"
"What was that Ms. Pierce?"
"Nothing."

Seth Trublade
Location: Just over the shores of Olivine

Seth sighed to himself as he stared down at the waters below him. They looked absolutely uninviting with some of the stone spires peeking out, and he was glad that he had a means to avoid them and the patrol boats. He had seen at least five ships filled with soldiers patrolling the waters. It meant they were close to Olivine, but it also meant that there was more security than anticipated. It made him huddle closer to the female trainer in front of him and tighten his hold on her torso. "Hey! This isn't the time for romance!!" the girl hissed lowly, keeping her voice down as a sixth patrol boat traveled below. Seth immediately blushed and eased his grip a bit.
"Sorry Ruby-- I'm used to Artemis doing aerial loops to try and spook me; old habits die... hard..." the boy apologized, getting choked up on the word "die." It had to have been at least four months since he found himself washed up onto the shores of Cianwood. His daily exercises and training had distracted him most of the time, but in his head everything in that moment was perfectly clear. The smell of ocean and his Hydreigon's blood filling his nose, the pointless attempt to close and press against one side of her wound with his head, the weak and shallow roars she made, the two secondary heads lightly wrapping around him to give him one final hug goodbye-- "... Artemis..."
"... If I lost Sigfried, I wouldn't know what to do, either," Ruby stated, her tone warm and gentle as she felt the boy's head rest against her back, "Your Hydreigon was a strong and noble Pokemon; I could tell that the second I saw her. You must have put your heart and soul into raising her. At least she died a hero, right?"

"She shouldn't have died at all. I was foolish" Seth mourned, closing his eyes as he listened to his friend's heartbeat. Like everything else in that moment it reminded him of his lost Pokemon. "It makes me wonder why I'm a rebel soldier. I'm a Grade-A klutz; everyone back at the base is afraid I'll blow everything to dust and ash. I even want to toss the gun that's in my pack."
"Everyone has doubts, Seth. I was timid the first time I was in a dog fight, but look at me now," Ruby stated, scoping out the skies and sea ahead. The first few fireworks had started to go off in a dazzling display of diverse colors. There hadn't been a new patrol boat passing them for the past few minutes of sentiment. If anything, it meant that they were right on time. "... When this is over, you and I will give Artemis that send-off she deserves. Until then, keep yourself distracted with your mission, okay?."
"Right," Seth sighed in agreement, suddenly holding on for his life and Ruby's Flygon suddenly maneuvered. The young woman tried to calm her Pokemon down. All of a sudden, she bent over in pain. Looking up, Seth saw his friend's bloodied shoulder. "Ruby!!"
"It's fine, just a graze-wound. They've spotted us," Ruby stated, commanding her Flygon to avoid the incoming bullets.
"Oh no... I'm sorry!!" Seth apologized, a twinge of regret knotting his stomach.
"Don't worry, I think it was a rogue firework that gave us away," Ruby explained, commanding her Pokemon to plummet into a dive, "Sigfried and I need to retreat before the same thing happens to us. We'll get you as close to the water as possible, but you need to jump when I give the signal!"
"Agreed..." Seth nodded, carefully letting go of Ruby. Lightly holding on by the Flygon's hind, the boy closed his eyes and tried to envision the water below. Hopefully it was a lot less jagged now, but either way he needed to prepare for the worst. He didn't want to resort to violence, but there were probably going to be more soldiers meeting him at the shoreline now. Houndour was safe inside her Pokeball, but he would need her help. What was the best way to go?

"Now!!" Ruby yelled, her Flygon pulling itself up for ascent. At the bottom-most point of the Pokemon's dive, Seth let himself slip off from the Pokemon's back. Closing his eyes, he reached for the mask hanging by his side. My next few moves will be crucial, the boy thought to himself, placing the mask over his face. He could feel the high-beams of a searchlight hit his body and tracked his movement towards the water. They caught sight of him, but he wasn't about to let them keep their sights glued there. Contorting his body into a diving pose, he at least confirmed that he was alive to the soldiers on the seventh boat.

The soldiers opened fire on the surface of the water as Seth disappeared into the sea with a tall fountain of water marking his entry point.

Mission One;
Part one.

I felt nervous as I made my way to Natalie Pierce's office. There were Butterfrees in my stomach as this would be the first time I would make the Rebel Leader's acquaintance. Eventually I made i to her office, alone as was requested. I knocked on the door as my heart skipped a beat. 'Enter,' was all I could hear coming from the other side. I obeyed and gingerly opened the door. I then walked into the office and closed the door before looking at Natalie. She was quite tall and had brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. It was evident she was an experienced fighter, as she seemed to be covered in many battle scars. She gestured for me to sit down, and again I obeyed.

I took a seat opposite her on a basic black chair. A wooden desk separated us and I nervously waited to hear for what mission I had been summoned for. She cleared her throat before she began to speak, 'Jones I'm assuming,' she began. I replied with a swift nod. 'I'm Natalie Pierce. As you know, you have been selected for a special mission,' she said calmly, briskly getting the introductions out of the way. 'We have chosen you to go to Azaelea city to help out the resistance there. As you know, Azaelea is home to a majority of weapon factories, and we're not exactly ample in supplies-' She then cut off, worried at my lack of reaction. Inside, fear was starting to creep in, however, my face didn't give anything away. 'You okay kid?' she asked. 'Yes m'am, thank you,' was my response. She just passed me a folder containing a few pages of information for my upcoming mission. I quickly analysed the info before placing the folder gently back on the desk.

Natalie then withdrew a duffel bag from under her desk and loosened the strings on it. She took a dark handgun, military knife, flashlight and a matchbook. She then handed the items to me which I took thankfully and attached each item to my belt. I shot her a weak smile, which she replied. 'One question, how am I getting to Azaelea?' I was able to ask despite my crippling shyness. She then glanced out the window, the sun was beginning to descend. She then turned back to me, 'Giorgio will be taking you, on the islands helicopter,' she said as if it was no big deal. This was a very big deal. The islands helicopter was precious, if anything happened to it, the rebels would find it nearly impossible to get anyone from the island to elsewhere in Johto. This mission had to be a success, no question about it. 'That's all,' she said disturbing me from my thoughts. 'Okay, thanks m'am,' I replied. I then got up and made my way to the door. As I lay my hand on the handle, I heard Natalie's voice 'Stay safe Jones.' 'You too m'am'

After exiting the building I unclipped the one and only Pokéball from my belt, and released the Tricky Fox Pokémon. Over the last few weeks the pair of us have bonded. This was the first Pokémon I've had under my possession and it felt great to have a partner so amazing by my side. The pair of us made our way to the roof of the cave of our base, also known as the landing doc. Upon arrival, the sun was almost set and Giorgio was already there waiting for us. We climbed aboard greeted by Giorgio, 'Good evening Jones.' 'You too sir.' I replied. Giorgio then initiated take off, the rotors began to spin and the aircraft took flight.

Wow, what an awesom start for both of you!

@Scarf Blade - I guess his Hydrageon's still weighing heavy on his mind hm? I really like how you portrayed Ruby and their conversation. That cliffhanger ending's just mean though, now I want to know what happens!

@Tukish Delight - Also a great start, the first person's a change from what I'm used to but not an unpleasant one. His shyness is something he's going to have to overcome, which will be interesting to see. Can't wait to see the next part of his story!

Mission One;
Part two.

I sat in the passenger seat of the helicopter, and stayed completely silent. Giorgio continued to crack jokes, which I laughed halfheartedly at. The jokes weren't really that bad, it was just that I was too nervous to experience any other emotion right now. My Zorua was sitting on my lap and was trying to cheer me up. Despite his best efforts, I wasn't able to change how I was currently feeling. 'Only five minutes now,' Giorgio commented, which I just replied to with a nod. I got Zorua to go back into his capsule, and I placed the ball on my belt. Just at that moment, the firework party begun. In the not so far distance, I could see flashes of every colour imaginable, leaving beautiful images in the sky. These images were accompanied by large bangs, which we were hoping would mask the sound of the chopper. As we got close to Azaelea, we were spotted by several Division member. Anti-aircraft fire began to assault the helicopter. Knowing that the chopper couldn't take much more of this Giorgio ordered me to get out now, which I immediately obeyed. I threw the parachute over my back and leaped out of the aircraft.

I began to plummet towards the forest beneath me, but I knew that using the parachute to early would result in me being spotted. My heart thudded as I got nearer and nearer the ground. When I assumed that it was safe, I pulled the excess string on the bag making the parachute fire out of the bag. My fall immediately slowed down, and not too long after the large white parachute got caught in the trees, leaving me dangling, exposed. At least there's no Division soldiers in the forest, right? Wrong. At that moment I began to hear several gunshots from a nearby area, the sound was so loud that it could even be heard over the firework display. I dangled there for several seconds before deciding on the best possible decision. I took my military knife from my belt and used it to swiftly cut through the ropes on my parachute. I then landed on the ground with a rather loud thud, my knife leaving my grasp. Knowing that this would attract Division members I immediately made my way into some nearby bushes despite my pain. I could just about see through a small gap in the bush to see if anyone was approaching.

After a few moments a single Division member ran past, stalling when he was four strides past me and looking around. I decided that using my gun would be a bad idea as it would attract others, but just then he noticed my knife just lying in the road. He was onto me, god damn this was a tricky situation. He slowly squatted to the ground and picked up my knife, in his other hand was a handgun, not too different than my own. If only I had a silencer then this would be so much easier, but that's just not my luck. He seemed to let his guard down for just a moment and I took my opportunity and quickly hopped to my feet and lunged at him. I knocked him to the ground, sending both his gun and my knife flying out of his hands. I then swiftly punched him across his face causing him to grunt in pain. I then made my way back to my feet and ran over to collect my knife. He then made his way back to his feet, just in time to receive a blow from my knife into his stomach. He then looked at me with terror in his eyes before I withdrew my knife from his torso. He then collapsed backwards and his eyes rolled backwards at the exact second he ceased to breath.

Briskly, I dragged the Division member into the bush I hid in, covering his dead body in anything I could. After I finished, I vomited into another nearby bush. I had just killed another human being, would I have to get used to this? It was in self defense though right? He would have done the same to me without any remorse so why should I have any? I then picked up his gun, withdrawing the ammunition from it before tossing the gun into the shrubbery in hope it wouldn't be found. I then slowly but surely made my way to the location of the previous gunshots, that is where my fellow rebels would be awaiting me.. if they were still there. If not then this was a recipe for certain death. The forest was very unfamiliar, and the fireworks had ceased leaving the area ominously silent. I held my breath when applicable and avoided anything that would make unnecessary noise. Just then, three Division members came into my line of sight. They seen me at exactly the same time, one of them fired towards me but it was poorly aimed. I quickly withdrew my handgun and hid behind the closest tree. I heard them approaching slowly, confidently. They didn't think I had a firearm. Unluckily for them they had made a mistake. I quickly poked my head out from the side of the tree and shot four bullets in quick succession before hiding again. I heard two of my foes let cries of pain escape meaning I'd hit two of them. The third however was still out there. I then heard two shots being fired, both audibly hitting the very thick tree I was using as a hiding place. I emerged from behind the tree to see two of the Division members seemed to be dead. However just then the third member fired a shot catching me in my upper right arm forcing me to release my gun and let out a large shout in pain. The member then made his way closer to me. He punched me across the face knocking me off my feet, my favoured right arm was unable to be used in combat. This was the end. He pointed his handgun at my head, a lust for revenge for his fallen comrades in his eyes.

This was the end, I knew it. I closed my eyes and waited for the shot to come. When I heard the bang I knew that was it, however, I felt no pain. I opened my eyes in time to see the Division member fall to his knees, and then onto his face. I glanced up at my savior, three men were making there way towards me. One was half carried by the other two. There were wounds on both his stomach and his upper left thigh, both bleeding heavily. The one on the left had a handgun in his hand, making me assume he was the one who saved me. With the adrenaline from my fight wearing off, my shot wound was beginning to burn ferociously.

Josie McQueene
Mission #: One
Objective: Arrive at the Ecruteak City safehouse
23 September 2012

Josie entered the office of Natalie Pierce, his commander. She sat in her seat with perfect posture, blue eyes caged to a file in her hands. He wondered briefly what the manila folder had hidden inside. He assumed it had something relating to himself. The room was not the biggest, but it was good enough. It had a single, large, wooden desk in the middle (where Ms. Pierce sat) and a single chair in front. A shelf was in the back corner filled with books and other miscellanea and the walls were clear.

"Sit," she said, not looking up from her business. Josie took the seat in front of him, waiting on whatever he was here for. Her eyes went back and forth across whatever she was reading, clearly taking some great consideration or giving concentration to what was there. Whatever it was, it may have been important. The mystery of it made Josie a little nervous, He was starting to think he'd gotten in trouble for something. They only gave you the silent treatment if you were guilty of something.

He twiddled his thumbs, getting a little anxious. It'd probably been only a minute and a half before he started to remember the head's up from a few weeks ago. He was given a small hint that he'd be going towards the mainland for some reason. For what? Maybe he wasn't in trouble, maybe it was about that little thing.

Ms. Pierce closed her folder and laid it on the table, giving Josie her eyes. She had a few scars on her face, ones Josie were very familiar with. She had recruited him and had even trained him in weapon proficiency. He didn't know much about her other than what she saw, but he had gotten a tidbit about her being apart of the army once (her rank escaped his memory), though it was hard to believe sometimes. She was very, very nice, treating all the recruits like her own children. She had gotten mean once, when one of his fellow trainee's pointed their gun at someone else. It hadn't been with evil intent, just a moment of not thinking, but... Damn, they got their ass chewed harder than gum. It made Josie think of how intimidating she could be.

"How are you, Joseph?" She asked him, the smile that he was used to on her face now. She was not fooled, Ms. Pierce was fully aware that his name wasn't Joseph, but in an effort to make them more comfortable she'd put her recruits on a first name basis (rather than just calling them by their last names or by a rank or whatnot), even calling some by nicknames they were most comfortable with. Josie had told her that she could have called him by his actual name--her kindness affecting him--but she refused and told him that this name was perfectly fine.

"Outstanding, ma'am." Josie replied, unable to stop himself from smiling back at her.

She smiled wider. "Do you know why you're here, Josh?" He shook his head and replied the negative. "Good, that means everyone is doing their job right." Josie raised a brow, interested in what she was talking about. He didn't think he was in trouble after all. This had to be about this little hint, if secrets were involved. "I'm sure someone's told you you were going to the mainland soon?"

"Y-Yes, ma'am." Josie sat taller in his seat, a little excited and nervous at the same time. They not only told him it was a mission, but a big mission. He'd never been on a single one before, the pressure was, needless to say, on. "If I may ask, is this what I was called here for?"

"Yes, Joey, exactly so. Today is the twenty-third of September, a very historical day, don't you know?" Josie opened his mouth, but couldn't quite answer. He really didn't know what the day meant. He'd stop keeping track of a lot of things since the start of this war and poverty. A lot of days just mean that same thing: Nothing. "It's the anniversary of Project Sleeper," she answered in his silence. "And today they're having a fireworks show." He nodded and she continued. "Just before the celebration goes off you, Joseph, will be leaving for Johto by helicopter. They'll drop you off on Route 38 where you'll proceed into your new station in Ecruteak. You'll be staying with Uberto and Marie Milinelli who run the Kimono Dance Theatre there and wait their until further orders." Josie nodded again. "Any questions?"

He thought for a moment. What she'd said was pretty straight forward. Get in a helicopter, arrive in Eucreteak and then get to the safehouse. Easy, simple. Nothing too bad.

"Not a single one ma'am," he told her, shaking his head.

"Good." Ms. Pierce stood up from her seat, retrieving a bag from what seemed like nowhere. "We didn't have much time for questions, you're leaving now."

"Now?"

"Yep." She nodded as she got the bag onto the desk and opened it up, showing him his supplies. A rope, matchbook, military knife, a gun (one cartridge), and a matchbook. When he asked about the single cartridge, she explained that he'd have to improvise more ammo. Understanding, he gave a single nod and swung the backpack on his back. "You'll be leaving for the helicopter. You'll family will get a brief notice of your departure in some way." Josie nodded again, not sure what to say.

After that, she dismissed him. Josie's stomach did a few turns, unease getting to him. His first mission and no time to get himself fully ready for it. Dear Lord...

Seth Trublade
Location: Olivine shoreline

As soon as word got out about an intruder trying to infiltrate the city, the Division soldiers occupying Olivine did their best to send a response force to scout for the rebel. An attack outside the city was probably anticipated that day, but the lack of numbers was a surprise. It wasn't that they couldn't spare some spare units, but given the celebration they didn't want to raise alarm among the ranks. Besides, the reports stated that the lone rebel was shot out of the sky and landed in the nearby sea. If the rebel wasn't dead, he'd be easy to overpower, right?

A small force of ten soldiers were sent out in addition to the ten already at the beach. They were given simple orders: find any traces of the rebel that may have washed ashore or capture/kill him or her on the spot. Right now, many of them were looking forward to the latter. It was their night to celebrate, after all. The fireworks could still be seen by the beach, but most of them had their heads down at the water. Thanks to the patrol boats near by the light show's reflection was distorted by the ripples coming to shore. Most of them were relying on the lights attached to their weapons instead of a regular flashlight.

"... Hm? Wazzat?" one of the Division soldiers wondered, something from the water catching his eye. Shining his light towards the spot, the dull white of a skull stared back. Grinning to himself, the soldier waded into the shin-deep water. "Hey guys! I found something! It looks like a skull. The poor f****r must have found a swarm of Carvanha; the only thing left is bones! Com'ere you little-- what?" He had knelt down to grab the skull to show off to the others, but trying to grab it made him realize something. The skull felt more like a faceplate. Curious, the soldier lifted the head of an angered Houndour out of the water. Almost immediately the Pokemon opened its mouth and unleashed a a large cloud of smog. Cursing, the soldier tried to hold his breath as he disappeared in the Smog attack.

The other soldiers nearby, four in total, readied their guns as they waited for their comrade to leave the cloud. Each passing second grew more tense as they waited. They didn't even hear the sound of additional disturbance in the water (after what had caused the Smog to appear probably shifted). Suddenly, the heard a single gunshot fire from within. Getting anxious, all arms were directed into the smog and ready to open fire. A shadow appeared in the Smog. "... Thunder Fang!" Just like that, the Houndour leaped from cover with fangs crackling with electricity. Biting the one on the far left in the leg, the soldier buckled under the whim of the current running through her; at the same time her gun started to explode in a series of small blasts as the trapped bullets gained heat from the running energy.

The other soldiers shifted their attention to the Pokemon attacking their comrade, but then a second figure took the diversion to attack. Garbed in rebel uniform and a white mask, the figure kicked the soldier in the middle in the stomach, grabbed that soldier's gun arm, and, while using both the enemy's weapon and his own handgun, fired a couple bullets at the legs of the other two soldiers. Injured, the other two soldiers collapsed onto the sand as the Houndour let go of the now paralyzed and unconscious soldier. "Wh-wh-who are you?!" the soldier in the middle stammered, bracing himself as pain shot up from his gut. He watched as the Pokemon rushed over to the other two soldiers and delivered them their own Thunder Fang.

"Shut up," Seth demanded, pulling the soldier's arm in close so his enemy couldn't shoot at him. At the same time, he maneuvered in such a way that flipped the soldier over his shoulder and slammed his foe into the sand. The soldier cried in pain as his gun arm was promptly twisted and bent to the point of breaking in one fluent motion. To top it off, Seth also knelt down and punched the soldier in the throat. Needless to say the soldier was now pacified. Taking one of the soldiers' guns, Seth took the full clip from their weapon and refilled his own. The ones he didn't use were stored in his pocket. He had to be quick, though, because from the look of it more soldiers were heading to his location. Picking up his Pokemon, he ran from the beach and into the woods. He might get himself lost, but it was better than getting caught.

***

After a while of running, Seth stopped by a large oak somewhere in the middle of the forest and sat down to rest. He was sure that he lost his pursuers about a half hour ago, but he had to be certain that he wasn't followed by the enemy. However, he exhaled a sigh of relief that seemed to call his Pokemon over to him. With a small smile the boy pet the Houndour affectionately as she rubbed her head against his good arm. "Good girl, Diana. That was an amazing job well done," Seth praised his Pokemon, taking off his backpack. Rummaging through, he decided to check on some of his gear. Right away he threw away the matches and flashlight; they were so soaked that they wouldn't have functioned properly. But what about the communicator? They wouldn't have given him one that couldn't stand up to water if diving into the sea was part of the mission... He decided to turn it on and test that theory. "Hello? Headquarters, this is Private Trublade. Do you read?" It took a second, but he heard the crackle of a response come through.

"Agent Trublade, this is headquarters. We receive you loud and clear," the communicator sounded with the voice of an unknown male-- probably a higher up overseeing the mission, What is your status?"

"Fine-- All things considered," Seth talked into the device, scanning the area for other people while also petting his Pokemon, "The landing was rough; my left arm might have fractured a little from impact with the water. Got some bloody cuts and scrapes from the rocks, but those are likely to be minor inconvenience at most. Also had a little run-in with the enemy, but I managed to lose them. Some of my supplies are useless, though."

"You'll need to make due without them, Private. So far, it looks like the operation is going well," continued the voice.

"Headquarters, did Ruby-- Agent Grimstone return safely? I want to speak with her," Seth asked, a moment of worry in his thoughts. This time the voice didn't respond right away. It made the boy worry, trying to occupy himself by petting his Houndour, as he waited for some kind of news.

"It appears she returned injured, but all patched up now," the voice stated, then switched over to Ruby's voice, "Agent Trublade?"

"Grimstone!! I'm so glad you're safe!" Seth exclaimed, the sudden outburst making Diana jump, "I'm more or less okay, too."

"I heard. Listen, you can't be using this channel to chat unless something really important comes up," Ruby stated, then added, "... but I'm glad to know you're in one piece. Be sure to rest that arm until you get to the lighthouse."

Amber Primrose
Mission One: Part 1
Objective: Reach Violet City's base safely

"Tic…toc…tic…toc…tic…toc…" the clock was ticking being the only thing that pierced the silence that wrapped itself upon the office in which both Amber and her superior, Natalie Pierce, were. Amber had been called to her office in order to be given the details regarding the big mission she was about to embark on.

" So as you've read there you are to leave from the island on a Pidgeot in about two hours and make your way to Route 32. " Natalie said as Amber was skimming the file she had been given earlier.

"Route 32? Isn't that problematic for the unit there? "
Amber questioned lifting her eyes from the papers and looked at the woman behind the desk.

"Amber, even if you have a cover due to the firework we can't guarantee that there won't be any interference. So it's best that you land as quick as possible and then go by foot to Violet city." Natalie said getting up from her chair and making her way to the right side of the room where she had a rusted, but still functional, coffee machine. She pushed some button here and there and placed a cup underneath and waited for her coffee to be ready. " And if you look closely the only one you are to meet is the chief of the unit, Tjeerd de Graaf."

" Hmmm in that case it's ok, just the two of us will draw less attention. "

" Indeed. So as I was saying, after you reach route 32 you will head towards Violet City and take shelter in the units safe house. When you get there you will stay put until further orders from here or from Tjeerd understood?" the woman said with a very strict tone on the last part.

" Yes mam!!! " Amber quickly replied.

" Good to hear. " Natalie replied , returning to her calm tone. She took the cup of coffee and took a sip while leaning on her desk. " Listen Amber! This mission is just the first door towards returning to the good old days, plus you're so young and promising. You have become a fin soldier in the past months, you remind me of myself when I was at your age. What I want to say is be careful and think before acting, and most of all don't forget yourself….the battlefield can be a cruel place." The woman said in a very motherly yet cool tone and posture. Indeed the commander really saw herself looking at Amber and felt horrible that the girl, and many other teenagers her age, had took walk this path and transform into adults over night.

" I will do my best chief." She responded with a smile that hid the pain that she was going through since her brother died.

" Hope so. Ok moving on…" she said lifting a leather bag from under her desk and tossing it into Amber's arms. " …those are the supplies we can give you for this mission. Use them to help you in your mission and use the wisely."

" Let's see …. " Amber said catching the bag and opening it.

" Those are standard supplies that we can provide you for your mission. As you can see you get military knife, a flashlight, a rope, a matchbox. The communication radio you are holding is set to a secure frequency, HOWEVER it's only secure for us, if by any chance the communication is traced you will be the one to be located so make your messages as short as possible. " the woman instructed the girl as she put it back into the bag. " And the last thing is a gun…keep in mind that it has only one cartridge. "

" Only one?! This will be a problem….but I'll have to do with what I have for now. "

" That's the whole idea privet. So if you don't have any other questions about the mission you should go prepare for your departure." Natalie said sitting down at her table.

" None chief. I'll do my best out there." The red head girl said then closed the door behind her.

"For your, mine and most of all, your parent's sake, I hope you do!" the woman said staring at the door.

-Two hours later
-

Amber was making her way towards the exit of the cave. As she got outside she was surprised to see the sun setting behind the open sea. She hadn't been outside for a while now and nearly forgot how beautiful this world could be, it was truly a peaceful view that would make you forget all the chaos that reign on the region. However Amber couldn't sit and enjoy the view, she was placed back in reality when she saw a might bird at the edge of the cliff waiting with her trainer for the red head. As she got closer to her ride she noticed that the woman sitting next to the Pidgeot was a familiar face. It was a blond haired girl that had a beret on the side. She was a girl that Amber met during training and managed to become a bit closer than normal comrades, not true friends but pals to say it more clearly.

" Guess you'll be flying with me Amber. " the joyful girl shouted as Amber was within her grasp.

" Seems so May. Now I know I'm in safe hands." Amber said while putting her bag on her back. " Ready to go?…We have to make it by the fireworks." Amber said putting a hand on the harness.

" Pigeot!!!" the pokemon cried leaning its head towards Amber. Amber pated her on the head and asked the pokemon to get her safe to their destination. The pokemon pecked her just a bit on the head, making Amber remember who she was speaking to.

"That settles your answer. Let's get a move on then! " May said and hoped on the back of her pokemon and checked the harness one last time. Then she turned back to help Amber get on and waited for the girl to find a good spot and to get a tight grip. " Ok, ready?! Soldiers Amber and May ready for flight!"

" Pidgeot!!!" the pokemon cried hearing her master. She spread her wings in a slip of a second and started running towards the edge of the cliff. It then jumped, diving down towards the ocean, like they were being sucked into a current. They were falling fast, however the girls were not even the slightest bit frightened, they were trained for this. Just before they would hit the surface of the water, Pidgeot stroke its wings and blasted off in the opposite direction towards the skies. He two girl flew higher and higher, soaring over the crystal blue water.

" Seems we'll be out of sight for now!" May finally spoke after they pierced the thickness of the clouds and were now flying over them, out of sight from any surveillance unit that were placed in every corner of the region.

"We got lucky that it's cloudy tonight."
Amber replied looking down at their shadow that was racing on the clouds.

"Indeed. Um… Amber, I know we haven't know each other for very long but please be careful out there." May's voice turning from a joyful one to one filled with sorrow.

" Come on May, don't you start too. " the girl said remembering the exact same words her commander told her. " But don't worry I'll do everything I can to come back safe and sound." She replied sticking her tongue out.

May turned back to her joyful self again at the sound of those words. " Don't forget you promised!"

" I won't. You keep your eyes in front!" she said turning May's head towards the front.

"You're no fun! We still have a long way to go."

"May you know this isn't supposed to be fun….not even the least bit." Amber replied turning her head towards the sky above.

"Sorry…it's just that I won't be seeing you again very soon. I just wanted one last chat."

"Fine…but after we're in enemy territory you get your facts straight."

" Aye aye captain Primrose. Now say how's your new partner?"

"Oh she's very …….undetectable if I say so. Just the perfect match for me." Amber giggled.

"Umm…What?" May asked all puzzled by Amber's description.

"She's very tiny… and nobody has seen her since I got her even if she doesn't stay in her pokeball only at some times."

" Do you mean she's out right now?!?" May asked surprised.

" Yes. Do you like my charm from my bracelet?" amber said lifting her hand in front of the girl.

" Why would I want to see……….OHHHH! Now I get it. It's so cuuuute! " May burst.

" And powerful, despite her size."

"Clever way to use that to your advantage."

"Thanks. I think I and Lime will do well together."

" So the little critter has a name. " she said but soon turned her head towards the ground. " We should be getting close to route 32 soon. Hold on! We're gonna dive into the clouds a bit." May said and pulled the harness to the right which let Pidgeot know what May wanted her to do. The bird started descending slowly and went into the clouds. Everything was hazy and grey, and the fact that it got dark already didn't help the two trainers very much. However Pidgeot had no problem navigating through them. In a matter of minutes the bird took the two just at the bottom of the clouds where they could see again and not be spotted so easily. As soon as they went out of the clouds they could see a flying rocket into the distance that went higher and higher into the sky until finally exploding into a stream of sparkles of different colours. They made it in time….they were just at the edge of route 32 and the fireworks had just started. May pulled the harness hard and the two trainers started going down at a high speed, diving like a bullet towards the forest near the route.

Amber Primrose
Mission One: Part 2
Objective: Reach Violet City's base safely

Nothing was in sight as Amber jumped down off the Pidgeot that managed to land safely into the darkness of the forest. May hugged Amber from the harness and wished her good luck, then turned around and with a flap of Pidgeot's wings was soaring again towards the sky. She had to use the fireworks as well and get back home safely. Amber stood there quietly and waved at the girl for a few seconds. After that she quickly scouted the area to see if they had been followed or if anybody was there. As she walked a few steps into the forest she heard a faint step above her. Amber quickly rolled next to the tree she heard the sound with her right arm sprung up.

" Lime Spider Web!"
Amber whispered and in a flash of a second, out came a silky web from her wrist, heading towards the upper branch. As the web was launched a man jumped from above and slashed the web with what looked like a pocket knife and landed in front of Amber, with the two pieces of web falling next to him.

"Good job Soldier Primrose!" the man spoke offering his hand to help Amber get up. " I'm Tjeerd de Graaf, the leader of the unit hear." he said as Amber got up and brushed the withered leafs of her.

"Thanks I guess. But I in the world would you be sneaking up on me?" Amber yelled in a silent tone.

"It wasn't on purpose miss. I was waiting for you there, but when I saw you scouting the area I had to see what you where capable of. And indeed you are, now shall we get moving." The man said after quickly explaining his motives and before Amber could reply he rushed to a nearby bush and put his hands in it and looked like he was searching for something. "Here! This we'll be our means of transport." Tjeerd said putting a bike in front of Amber.

"With this?!" Amber said surprised. The girl had seen a bike in her life but the thing that shocked her was the fact that the bike was tireless.

"Sadly yes. But it's the only thing we can get after the Division raids. " the man said putting a hand on the handle. Just the Amber finally noticed that the man was just a few years older than her and moreover was severely marked by the war. He had a very awful scar on his face that seems to be made by a knife or something sharp at least. Amber quickly drifted her head towards the ground, she just realized that she was rudely staring at him, however despite having the scar Amber didn't consider him ugly or anything, she just didn't want to be impolite from the first meeting.

"Then let's get moving. The fireworks won't last for long." Amber said and hoped on the bike.

"I like your spunk, but I'll be the one to do the pedaling. Here put these papers in your backpack, check them later when we get to the base." Tjeerd said instructing Amber to get off. " We can't go on the main road so we'll go through the forest, which I doubt you have any knowledge of. So hop on the back of the bike and hold tight. "

" If you say so…." Amber replied a bit confused, but hey, she was going to get the easy part…or so she thought.

Tjeerd started pedaling as hard as he could, without even sitting down. Every push he made, sprung them further and further from their initial spot leaving only traces of falling leaves behind them. They were starting to get a decent speed and advance quickly, however Amber could see the effort that Tjeerd was putting in every push. Moreover, the road wasn't helping them one bit, as soon as Amber wanted to look around the area they dashed down what looked like a slippery hill, the bike going when left when right at Tjeerd's commands . Amber closed her grip around the man and was trying her hardest not to give out a yell because she could have blown their cover.

" Are we gonna be fine?" Amber asked after they hit straight land once again.

"Can't promise anything, but I always do my best in everything!" he assured the girl.

" I truly hope…."
But before Amber could say anything a Zubat crashed into her face. Amber slid the flying rat off of her face and threw it behind them. Tjeerd couldn't help and sneak a smirk as he kept biking along the slippery path of leaves and dirt. " Now that was uncall…." But once gain she was cut off by another Zubat that crashed into her face. She got mad and threw the bat as hard as she could, sending it into a nearby tree. Lucky the only thing the bat managed to do was to leave a scratch on her neck.

"You really are a Zubat magnet aren't you?" Tjeerd said trying to calm the girl down.

"The joke isn't over. Look up!!!" Amber said as she lifted her head and saw a flock of Zubat hovering over them in circles.

" S**t! They're out for hunting and decided to prey on us!" he said and started pushing even harder on the pedals. The flock of Zubats kept following them and were now trying to get closer and closer behind the two soldiers. " Private Primrose it would be best to use your web thingy once again." Tjeerd said a bit panicked. Amber didn't waste a second more and lifted her hand towards the Zubats that were approaching and told Lime to use Spider Web. The little bug pokemon sit out a gigantic silky web that attached itself on the trees that they had just past. The Zubats started crashing into the net one by one, getting stuck in it unable to free themselves. Despite their quick reaction, they managed to stop only a dozen or so of Zubats as the rest quickly located the web using their ultrasounds and flew either over or beneath it.

" That didn't slow all of them down!!!" Amber said turning back to Tjeerd. Hearing that the man gripped the handle even harder and started biking as hard as he had ever done, zigzagging between the trees, trying to evade the flying pokemon. Amber truly was impressed by his physical strength, however she knew that if they were to get out of this unharmed they would have to do more than just run. Suddenly, it struck her. " Tjeerd I've got an idea but you'll have to trust me!!"

" Primrose spill it out already. We don't have time to prove our trust right now." Tjeerd urged the girl to get to the point as he was getting tired by the second.

" Then stop!"

"WHAT!?!?!"

"You heard me right. Stop and leave the rest to me!" Amber said with a cunning smile on her face.

" I'll play by your cards then." He said and pulled the breaks on the bike stopping them in their tracks. As soon as they stopped Amber jumped off of the bike and waited. The flock of Zubats quickly followed and soon were swarming around them trapping them from every side. Tjeerd started to doubt the fact if this was indeed a good idea, but to his surprise Amber wasn't freaking one bit.

" Lime Thunder Wave! " Amber said in a soft tone as she raised her right hand. Ina slip of a second Tjeerd saw some sparks of electricity covering a portion of Amber's bracelet and then beams of electricity flying from it into the air hitting one Zubat after another. Since the flying pokemon were so close one to another in their flying the current of electricity went to one another like in a chain reaction. After five seconds of continuous static electricity all Zubat plunged down on the ground motionless. " Let get going! The static paralysis doesn't last very long!" Amber said jumping back on the bike.

"I'll be damn!" Tjeerd said truly impressed by her quick thinking. He started pedaling once again making his way back to their original path. "What kind of high tech device do you have that can make nets and shoot electricity like that? " the man asked puzzled by Amber's performance.

Amber giggled a bit. " You've got it all wrong. It's not a device that did all that. It's my partner pokemon. It's a Joltik and can easily pass undetected. In your case the same."

" I see. For a second there I thought you found some new weapon that the Division might be producing. " he exhaled relieved. " You two make a nice team. We're glad to have you on our unit!" Tjeerd said. Amber noticed that he was starting to get more familiar to her and break out of his serious and non talkative mood.

"That's my mission, so despite all the bad circumstances, good to be of some help." She replied brushing her hair from her face as the jumped over a puddle.

After that they continued their way through the darkness of the forest, taking some slippery paths and treacherous hills along the way. However nothing as dangerous as the flock of Zubats from before. The forest was a dangerous place and night, good thing Tjeerd knew what he was doing, even if some of his moves looked like it would send them in two or three trees. Nonetheless by the time the fireworks ended both of our travelers were already in the forest next to the town. Amber could already see a glimpse of the Sprout Tour that watched over the city. She was moments away from her temporary home, where she would have to wait until future orders, orders that would send her in another mission that might help a bit the current state of the region. As she turned her head down she saw something strange at the wheel of the bike. Looking closer she noticed that a screw was just about to fall, and with a bump from the trek so it did. Amber turned her sight towards some other parts of the bike and saw that they weren't doing very good either, the long trip through the forest had put it mark on the rusty bike.

"Tjeerd the bike is going to fall apart!" Amber said seeing as the man was pedaling faster and faster. However Amber's warning was too late. As soon as she ended her words a crack was heard and the bike fell apart.

"Gotcha!" Tjeerd said as he quickly grabbed Amber and jumped of the bike before any of them could have gotten injured. " That was a close call!" wiping of the sweat of his forehead.

" Too close if I say so myself!" Amber said straightening her clothes. " Good thing were just near the city, if that old thing had broke done in the forest it would have taken us hours to get here."

"True. Let's get going, we're close!" Tjeerd said and started running in the direction of the town. Amber was a bit confused as why he would do that as they would be a clear target if they would have been seen in the lonely streets. But despite her uncertainty, she followed him without asking anything. As the trees started to fade one by one, the mushy ground full of leaves was soon replaced by a lush carpet of grass. They had reached the edge of the town and were now facing the back part of Bell Tour.

"Don't tell me this is?" Amber asked as the idea of this being their hideout finally came to her mind.

"Exactly. Now get in. We can't risk being seen." Tjeerd said and opened a secret passage by removing a piece of what looked like a wooden wall. The two went through a long corridor until they eventually were faced with a metal door above them. Tjeerd went under it and knocked the metallic frame two times then stopped, knocked three times, hit the door two times with the tip of his fingers. As the last tip touched the door a clicking sound was heard from the other side and the door opened letting a stream of light fill the humid and dusty corridor they went through. Tjeerd took Amber and helped her get up. From the upper side she was helped by two men to get up. After that Tjeerd got up as well and closed the door behind them.

" Chief you made it safe and sound!"

" Yeah, but not without any difficulties. The bike broke down, but it was just at the edge of the tower. " he said putting his coat on a chair. Amber didn't say a word, however her eyes were scanning the area in every corner. They were in a room filled with boxes and stuff that the monks there used to clean the place, however there wasn't a monk in sight, the only people there were Tjeerd, she and another four people.

" So this is the soldier they sent us? She's pretty but can she hold a gun? " one bulky dude talked from the corner of the room where he was sitting on a chair. Amber was deeply insulted and wanted to shoot a bullet right next to him, but then she remembered that she shouldn't waste her few bullet on him.

" I assure you she's one fine soldier. But you'll have the chance to see it for yourselves." Tjeerd said.

"Well if the captain says so, then there's no doubt about it."

"Ok. Now that that's out of the way, everyone this is soldier Primrose and she will be part of our family from now on. Primrose this is the rest of the unit, I'll just tell you the nicknames cause it's easier. The bulky guy on the chair is Tank, the two that helped you get up are Ace and Patch and the damsel there is Bullet."

" Hello everyone!"

"Cheers!" Tank said saluting her like in the army.

"Good to have you here!" Patch said giving Amber and ok.

"Indeed it is a pleasure." Ace said kissing Amber's hand, making her blush a bit.

"Ok Romeo cut the smooth talk." Bullet cut in, releasing Amber from the lover-boy's grip. " Hi. Nice to have another girl around here." She said putting her arm around Amber's neck.

" Ok you'll get to know each other tomorrow. You're all dismissed, now head home." He said and with that the rest of the gang said their goodbyes and exited through the very door that Amber and Tjeerd came just a few moments ago.

"Aren't they staying here?" Amber asked confused.

"No. They have families in town and spend their free night there…watching over them." Tjeerd said and started walking towards the hall.

"And aren't you going to go too? I don't really mind staying here by myself." Amber suggested as she started following him. Tjeerd stopped in his tracks just next to the empty door frame. He clenched the wooden frame.

"I don't have a family to go to." He said filled with sorrow. " And don't worry we're not alone here. The monks are still living here but are offering us the tower as a base and help us with what they can." Making his way through the hallway.

" I see."
Amber shortly replied feeling bad that she brought the thing up.

" Oh Hajime. We've arrived." Tjeerd shouted as he saw a man dressed in orange robes cut the corner.

"Good to see you and our new guest have arrived safely." He replied with a bright smile.

"Good evening sir!"
Amber said politely.

"Could you be kind and show the girl her room. It's late and we should rest."

"Why of course. Follow me miss." The monk said and started walking in the direction he came from.

"Tjeerd sorry for before. I know how painful is to lose somebody so I'm sorry for bringing it up." Amber said as Tjeerd was about to leave too.

"Don't worry kiddo, get a good night sleep!"

Amber and the monk left Tjeerd behind as he entered a nearby room, probably his office or his room. The two started walking up the main stairs of the tower and went floor after floor. Amber couldn't help but notice the very rustic architecture of the whole place. It made her feel like she was going up a palace in Ancient China.

" It's so sad to see so young faces fighting for us old people." The man said as they reached the fifth floor.

"We can't help it. It's do or die now……." Amber replied refraining a bit before saying the word die.

" Sadly even as a monk I have to agree." The monk said in a very dim tone. " We've arrived." He said setting foot on the wooden floor.

"Wait. Isn't this the last floor?" she asked confused.

"Yes. Tjeerd said that you'd be given this room as it would be in your benefit. Now I'll take my leave. You'll find your room as it's the only one here. Good night!"

" Night!" Amber said and went along the wooden floor all the way up to the only door on the floor. She opened the door slowly and entered what was to be her room from then on. The room wasn't very big, but it was large enough to fit a one person bed, a Chinese table, a little closet. From her room she could go either in a small bathroom or in a balcony. Amber entered with more courage in the room and tossed her backpack on the table. After that she checked the window to the balcony and looked down. She was too high to be spotted and since the roof came right town on the little space the balcony offered, she was out of any danger of putting herself in any danger. The girl took off her vest and put it on the bed then went outside on the balcony, sitting down in between the room and the miniature veranda.

"Guess we made it in one piece!" she said to her bracelet.

"Jolt…Joltik!!!"
the yellow charm attached to it cried glowing yellow.

"And you're the one to thank for." Amber said brushing the glowing bug with her finger. The little Joltik blushed hearing her trainer praise her. "We should go to bed. Guess it's mission clear for tonight!" Amber said getting up just as the wind started blowing behind her.

Josie McQueene
Mission #: One
Objective: Arrive at the Ecruteak City safehouse
23 September 2012

Man it was cold out here... Josie shivered as a breeze blew over him. He stood now at the top of the cave where the makeshift helipad was located. Here, he waited for the helicopter to arrive. Obviously they wouldn't keep them all in the backyard... It was kind of ticking him off that they didn't. The damn pilot was late. With his hands stuffed in his pockets he shivered again, a partial scowl on his face. The rebels were supposed to be made up of ex-military men and women and yet they couldn't get a helicopter to a cave on time. It made it worse that he was the only one out here. If he didn't know better he'd think he was late or ridiculously early. He'd been standing here for ten minutes with his pack on his back and his partner in his pocket. Giorgio's most trusted... Josie scoffed. Obviously not his best.

Tired of complaining to himself, Josie let out a long sigh, keeping his limbs close to his body to generate warmth. He blinked slowly, feeling cold under his eyelids, a cold that just made him sleepy. As he yawned he began to hear the deep wing beats of propellers in the background and when he looked he saw the dark-colored dot of what had better been the damn helicopter. Taking a few steps forward and peering out it turned out to be true. Josie let out a heavy sigh of relief and felt a little frustration come to him. Why so long? Why!?

In three minutes time the intense roar of the helicopter pounded its ears and it stood before him, landed and ready. The pilot of this vehicle, a light-skinned man who's facial features were hidden behind his helmet, stuck his head out of the helicopter's window.

"Well!? Hurry up! Don't make us late!" Josie scowled. Oh yeah, he was making them late. Biting back a reply, Josie marched into the helicopter, taking his seat and strapping himself in. He flinched when he was almost hit by projectile headphones thrown back at him. "You'll need those!" The pilot said, pointing at them casually. Scowl still present, Josie pulled them down over his ears, feeling the helicopter rise into the air.

"So where are we going!?" The pilot yelled back at him a few minutes in.

"Wh-What!?" Josie yelled back in surprise. "You mean you don't know!?" What kind of pilot was this!? In the middle of his panic, the pilot burst out in a deep and hearty laugh.

"Yeah, I know! I just wanted to see if you'd be polite enough to tell me!" Josie's frown deepened while the laughing filled the radio in his headset. Please, please, let this trip be quick! Josie looked out of the door-less side of the helicopter. The ocean was right below them; big, blue, endless. It was kind of amazing looking at the thing and while he did he could remember the old days of jet skiing, boating, and simple swimming in these waters. Of course, you had to be careful with Pokemon and such, but otherwise, it was perfect. Remembering made his heart sink a little, but also his resolve heighten. That's why he was on this mission. So those good times wouldn't just be memories anymore.

~!~

They flew for a while, the ride silent save for the times the pilot decided to point out how green he was as a rebel or to make a joke that he found hilarious and Josie found less exciting. By now they were over the land of Johto and on their way to route 38. Even over the helicopter's intense noise, Josie could still hear the fireworks behind them. They blasted and boomed like bombs themselves, though their fire was cheery and colorful. When Josie had seen it he didn't feel like a child at a carnival like he should have. He felt sick, like an innocent watching a madman laugh as he ripped a person to pieces. It was all the same, really. It was a celebration of a hopeless future. When Josie was done the next fireworks would celebrate a better era.

Here they were in no danger of being hit by one of these red-hot missiles of fun. It seemed like, to Josie, that they were in the clear. Well... heh, maybe not. Josie's head shot to the cockpit of the craft when suddenly sirens began to blare and lights flash.

"Sh*t!" The pilot yelled. What, what? Alarms went off in Josie's head, but none of them could tell him what exactly was going on. He jerked as the helicopter suddenly veered to the right. His hands automatically gripped his seat, trying to keep himself grounded.

"What is it!? What's going on!?" His only reply was a frustrated growl, he wasn't sure if the pilot had heard him. Josie heard a high pitched screaming to his left. What was--? His thoughts couldn't be finished. Suddenly the helicopter did a full turn--no, actually... A flip. Josie shut his eyes tight as the copter flipped upside down and back around.

"Missiles!" He heard. Josie opened his eyes, not sure if he'd heard right.

"What!?"

"Missiles! Missiles, dammit! We're in an anti-aircraft zone!" The alarms in Josie's head went haywire then. Missiles!? There were missiles shooting at them!? His heart was already beating fast, but now it seemed like it'd pop out of his chest. Missile! Oh god, missiles! He could die now, right now. Just like that. No kind of warning, nothing. Just an explosion and he was gone. Or he'd just be maimed and suffer. He'd never been on a mission before, he'd never been in anything close to this, unless you count encounters in video games. The helicopter jerked again, dodging past another flying explosive. "You're going to have to jump!"

"What!?"

"Goddammit, can't you hear!? Jump, jump!" J-Jump!? He couldn't jump! Straight out of the helicopter while missiles were flying everywhere!? That was suicide! "You either jump or stay in here and die with me, kid!" Goddammit...! Josie grabbed the straps that held him in and undid them. Head clear, head clear. "Hold on!" What!? Josie felt himself slip as the helicopter flipped itself again. He grabbed onto the closest thing to him, holding on as it sped through a maneuver that seemed to last forever. "You still here!?"

"Y-Yeah..." Letting go of the side, Josie tried to remember his training. Tried to remember to refocus himself. He went over little things in his mind like a list, little insignificant pieces of information, like how to store his knife or how to put on and remove gear. He stood at the edge of the helicopter, world moving in slow motion. He looked below him. Trees covered the land, dark and mysterious. If it weren't for the aerial battle they were having now, they'd be peaceful. The anti-aricraft weapons, wherever they were, were nowhere in sight. Nowhere he could easily spot them. Josie looked to his left as another high pitched screeching came from below him. Right there was a thing, sharp, shiny silver projectile speeding towards them. A missile. All he could see was the nozzle and the smoke behind it. His eyes widened as he realized what was coming to him.

"Jump now!" The pilot's command thrusted him back into reality and without another thought he pushed out with his legs and sent himself into the air. Immediately the free fall sensation hit him and he felt like he was moving faster than any bullet. The missile he'd seen just a second before sped past him, going straight for the helicopter. He felt the heat of its fuel for a split second before a blaze went off behind him. The sound of the explosion was louder than any of the fireworks had been and the screeching from the broken tail of the helicopter was louder than any plane he had stood next to. He imagined carnage as he fell towards the Earth, wind whipping past him at high speeds and the ground getting larger and larger as he stared at it. He closed his eyes, counting aloud as he was told to in this situation.

5... 4... 3... 2... Josie lifted his hand, grabbing the handle of his parachute. 1! He jerked the string, releasing the large parachute and stopping immediately. All at once he felt gravity's force hit him hard as the harnesses jerked against him. He grunted, wincing and gritting his teeth at the pain that came after that and the uncomfortable sensation he was stuck in. Josie looked to his right as the screeching suddenly became louder. The helicopter spun through the air, the tail in flames. It was out of control, doing 360's as it fell towards the Earth faster and faster. In no time it disappeared behind the trees and another explosion sounded off, louder than the first, sending a plume of smoke and fire into the air. Josie stared in horror, the image of the helicopter pieces strewn across the ground coming to his mind. And the pilot... Damn. He never even learned the guy's name.

Hard as it was, Josie forced himself to look back at the ground. He focused on landing, of getting out of this harness and getting as far away as he could as fast as he could. There would be men after him in no time and he could risk getting caught, and most likely killed, after all of this. He floated smoothly towards the ground, moving forward only from the gentle current of air.

He was in Johto now, and for some reason, it never seemed so threatening.

Current Location: Johto, Forest somewhere near Route 38

@Romdinner - A fantastic finish to a great mission, I really enjoyed reading about Amber's journey so far. I'll get to work creating her next one and will let you know when it's up.

@Kiklion - Oh man I loved that, from the douchy pilot to Josie's panic, I really can't wait for the next bit!

Mission One
Part three

'Who are you?' I managed to demand despite the searing pain that was burning through my shoulder-blade. I kept my face composed as I sat upwards, carefully avoiding putting any weight on my injured arm. I scanned each of the three men, the one that was bleeding fell unconscious, to the dismay of the others. They didn't seem like Division members, but who knew? Division were a despicable and highly intelligent group. For all I knew, this was a ruse to give me a false sense of security.

'You're Jones right?' one of the men replied quietly, ignoring my question wholly. The man completely ignored me as he was staring at the other man who was currently unconscious, watching seemed to cause him a great deal of pain. The third man just muttered unintelligibly to his unconscious comrade, I assumed he was assuring him that he'd be okay. I wasn't enjoying this, my suspicions were beginning to ebb.

'That's me..' I responded, attempting to make my voice sound neutral. A failed attempt I might add. The worry in my voice was audibly clear. 'What happened to him?' I added reluctantly, I already knew subconsciously but didn't want to give myself away if these weren't the Rebels.

'I hope your happy at causing us all this trouble,' he growled angrily. At this point I was sure that they were Division members. I took a stem back and raised my fists defensively. 'Don't mind him,' the other man said. His voice cracked and I glanced over at him, he was crying. 'We need to get back to HQ,' he continued. I then let my arms drop back to my sides, drawing a laugh from the first man. I responded to this by shooting him a dirty look, to which he was all to happy to return.

Now that I knew these were my allies, I gave each of them a closer look. The first, angrier man was average height and very stocky. He was in either his late 20's, or his early thirties. His features were rather round, his eyes were a muddy brown colour that matched his medium length messy hair. He looked like a physical attacker. The second man, who was currently crying, was very tall and thin. He was somewhat older than the first man, in his late thirties to perhaps his mid forties. His black hair was receding back onto the top of his head and his eyes were a green colour. Each of his features were squared off and he appeared to be very agile. He emitted an aura of knowledge, despite his current emotional state. The third and final male was the last I analyzed, and as soon as I did, I regretted it. He was no older than sixteen, he was as tall as the first man and his black hair was average length, his eyes were a striking green- at that moment I realized how much he looked like the second man, they must have been father and son.

At that moment a surge of pity flooded my body. I couldn't help but gape at the father and his son. The other man caught my attention then and shook his head at me, immediately snapping me out of it. 'We- we need to bring Brooklyn to the hospital in Azaelea..' the teenagers father stuttered.

Both the first man and I exchanged a glance of uncertainty. We both knew that there was a much higher chance of being caught with Brooklyn than without him. 'Theo..' the first man began.

'Don't you dare Peter,' Theo growled angrily taking both me and Peter aback. Apparently this wasn't normal behavior for Theo. Peter seemed to want to avoid the argument, so just nodded. Both Theo and Peter lifted Brooklyn and began to carry him the direction I wasn't going, apparently, I was going the wrong way. I was directed to keep a look out, and cover them to which I obliged. On the journey Peter told me about how they were ambushed by Division members and a majority of them were killed, including the leader. This astonished me, what was I getting myself into?

We didn't come across any other Division members and eventually made it to Azaelea. We entered the city, which was much larger to the tiny island that I was so used to. We made our way to a small home on the outskirts of the town and Peter knocked on the door with a unique rhythm. Moments later the door was opened by a beautiful woman in her mid 20's. She was average height, had chestnut brown hair and eyes the colour of the ocean. She looked beyond us before Theo forced his way inside carrying Brooklyn on his own leaving me and Peter standing there awkwardly. 'Oh you must be Kelvin,' she said politely, 'Where's John?' she asked, a tone of panic in her voice.

I could hear Peter's heart begin to beat faster. 'That's me m'am, nice to meet you,' I said before I turned to Peter quickly waiting for his answer. He opened his mouth only to close it again. After another few seconds of composing himself he began to talk. 'He was killed, along with the rest of the Rebels,' he whispered in a solemn tone. The pain the woman was feeling was clearly evident on her face and she immediately began to burst out in tears before gesturing for us to come inside.
