I saw Dark/Flying as Yveltal's type coming, like 5 months ago. Yveltal's signature move (Death Wing) sounds cool, but I have a feeling it'll be toned down to something else in the English version, like Dark Wing or Night Wing.

I was surprised when I learned that Xerneas was a pure Fairy; it doesn't even look the part, other than its antlers.

Regarding the 5 new Pokemon, I like Koronda the best out of them. I also can't help but wonder why the squids aren't Water type.

Water Type is far in the lead of pokemon numbers. So, more aquatic pokemon are going to have other typing when they can.

Xerneas' typing comes as no surprise to me, considering his apparent namesake and other things I've read with similar characters. Fairies are badass yo.

Team Flare? Team Flair? I'd like Team Flair, but I wouldn't mind a stylin' group with fire. It'd be more fun to have fire and fairies though. Then again if fairies have a 1/2 effectiveness on themselves, that would probably put people off of using them in game. So idk.

Shushup is apparently a plague doctor Pokémon according to tumblr and holy hell that'd be cool. [link; beware of foul language]

My main focus was on the professor though haha. He's a cutie. Pretty young, too. Bulba gave his name as Plantae, so I looked that up and found some related European cultural history. I wonder if he's going to have a focus on medicine, considering that?

So, this young Proff. Might be a pokemon doctor or study pokemon medicine. Very young!

Like someone said, the Cotton Candy Pokemon is a food Pokemon done right. Take tips Ice ream family.

Also the black Gym leader is rock climbing/excavating so should be Ground or Rock. If that's his badge we see, the pattern is bricks.

I thought the other one would be Steel, or also maybe Rock because those things look like Shuckle and Solrock, rock types.

Nevermind, Citron= Eiffel Tower Electric Type Gym Leader. Yet another blonde Electric Type Gym Leader. I wonder who the girl next to him in the Gym is.

Zakuro = Ground (or Rock really, I'm torn) type. They're gemstones in his hair.

The rumors from Pokebeach mentioned a Prof. Sycamore. I think that would be the English name.

The squids (and their types) are awesome. Really like the concept of an upside down squid.
Now I can imagine the Pokebeach rumors coming true, there was speculation about squid Pokemon called Inkay and Malimar, and appearently you have to turn your 3DS upside down while leveling up to evolve the small squid.

Also, this:
Spoiler:

:P

Well it certainly does fit the description of the rumor of this Pokémon being Inkay, the Gyroscope would be able to detect the movement and it seems pretty straight forward. Now that this is looking to be true, I wonder if he was right about the other rumors... Dual-typed moves.

The panda's evolution is probably my favorite design so far in terms of regular Pokemon, sweet badass trenchcoat looking thing. Definitely getting myself one of those!

The legendary typings aren't surprising for sure, though I would have imagined Xerneas getting a secondary typing... Its been a while since we had a mascot legendary with a mono typing. Yvetal is probably going to be my pick at this point though. Just can't deny its awesome typing and design.

Excited for all this news. I've been curious to these Fairy Pokemon though... Why have we only heard of mono Fairy types? Are they keeping combinations for future games or just being secretive about it...hmm.

Goronda looks BEAST while Perropafu and Shushup are both SOOOOOOOO cute!!

This generation has definitely taken to a much more natural style when it comes to the designs of the new Pokémon and it's really paying off. Compared to Gen V and the more man-made looking Pokémon, this generation is coming up with new designs that are far more superior in my opinion. Take Perropafu for example, it's the cotton candy Pokémon but it doesn't look nearly as awkward as Vanillite did.

On the contrary, I'm hoping Team Flare gets a name change for the English copies. I'm not really a fan of their name or their design. However, it is a nice change of pace to see GameFreak take a much simpler route in its plot if their purpose in the games really is to solely make money. We haven't had a plot like that since Team Rocket.

Not very surprised by Yveltal's typing, but I was expecting Xerneas to be at least Fairy/Grass not just Fairy. Not something to be really disappointed in though. I'm just glad we finally know their typing.

Also, yaaay for expecting something huge next month!

I was raging when I saw that rumor, but it could actually be different from what most people are expecting. Maybe dual-type moves are moves that don't have 2 types at the same time, but rather change their type during certain circumstances.
I get the feeling that these dual-typed moves will be more along the idea that they're classified as one type but do super-effective damage of another type.

So for example, say you've got an Electric type move, your Electric-type Pokemon will get STAB from it but it'll do Water damage instead of Electric damage. That's my vision of what these dual-type moves will be. Would be an interesting twist if you ask me, if not get a bit confusing though.

But who knows, maybe they'll be more along the lines of Scald, or actually do dual-type damage.

It won't be all of them, I think it will just be a certain handful such as Steel Wing, Muddy Water etc.

It seems we fans who mentioned a Life and Death theme for the mascots were correct as Xerneas is the Life Pokémon, and Yvetal is the destruction Pokémon (aka death, just look at it's signature move DEATH wing).

Getting ahead of myself a bit, but I wonder what this'll mean for the third member of this trio. Life, destruction (aka death...) what's followed or in the middle of those? Some sort of peace or spirituality theme? Interesting. Definitely love these concepts for the Legendaries though. Makes them the most interesting in a while if you ask me.

At least the cotton candy one looks a bit like a french poodle. If it was in a cone or something, some people would go "BWAHHH I WANT OLD POKEMON BACK wkncf".

Anyway, the legendary typings don't surprise me at all. It was kind of obvious. X has the new type but...I'm considering getting Y.

Like Pancham's evo. It looks really cool.
We finally have squids, and they look awesome! The evolution looks like some kind of evil magician.
The bird looks a bit weird, but I really like the candy poodle. I wouldn't be surprised if it evolves into a more dog like shape.

The gym leaders look...interesting. The guy with glasses will totally have an Electric or Stell gym, but I wonder what the other guy will have. The team...The female grunts are ugly, but the male grunts are ok. But their intentions are too Team Rocket-esque.
The professor looks even younger than Elm. Wonder what tree will be his name.

Liking everything so far! I wonder what will be revealed on August. They say it's a lot.

Seems like the Villainous team specialists in Fire types being Team Flare and judging by their appearance.. Interesting. Their goal to become rich with a lot of Money is a little predictable though.

I'm actually pretty partial to Pancham's evolution. One of my favorite designs yet. And the first Squid is adorable. Not too high on the Squid evo/cotton ball/cotton candy thing, but that's just me. And I'll definitely want Y now because of Yveltal's typing and moves, etc. Even though X has Clauncher as a version exclusive. :(

And I actually don't think there will be a third one tied to the two of them. Creation & destruction is obviously very dual in nature, one springs from the other. Yin & Yang. Not much room for a third principle there.

Maybe the third legendary will symbolize emptiness. It will reside in another dimension(like Giratina)where there is no other life.I can see them making a world like the Distortion World but we will have to use the 3D effect to solve the puzzles in that with ease in order to get to it.
Or we might have to use our Pokemon in the overworld(like riding one of them)to solve different puzzles(we will of course choose which because it is not sure that we will have a Pokemon that fullfills the conditions). The Legendary Pokemon might want to test the bonds we have with our Pokemon.

I love Panchams evo, definately on my team.I am getting Y for sure know because ''Skrelp''
The Evil Team doesnt interest me at all.Nifty outfits but stupid motive.I think that they will use Litleo and their Boss will use his final evo.
I am sure the mechanical armed Gym Leader will specialise on Electric(his Gym looks similar to Elesa's) while the other one on Rock(He looks like he is climbing a mountain and he has a hairstyle that resembles a mountain)

I am happy that Chespin's Final evo is most likely Dark.
The squids are awesome as well.

It is really exciting that we are getting even more news next month.Probably evos for older Pokemon.

The legendaries' typings were no surprise, but the fact that Xerneas is a mono type did caught us off-guard.

Pancham's evo broke the pattern of bear Pokemon being only mono types.

Finally we got a squid Pokemon, and it's the first Dark/Psychic type (thank goodness it's not a Water type)

Looks like Honedge won't be getting Levitate after all, but it does get No Guard. Since Magmaruby mentioned it may learn Guillotine, it would really make it overpowered, but thankfully, the metagame bans OHKOs.

I was expecting the Cotton Cany Pokemon to get as much hate as Vanllite, but I'm surprised you guys are happy about it.

I'm still unsure what the pink bird Pokemon is based off of.

Team Flare's goal is to make money. But I wanted a team that plans to steal Pokemon DNA and use it on themselves, due to its genetics theme, as well as completing the GRAMPS theory (not counting Team Snagem).

Interesting idea, for sure! I can see something like that, though "emptiness" to me feels too much like death or even destruction. Maybe in this case, destruction =/= death, and that'll be the third theme? I can't wait to see these Legendaries in action, their moves look so cool from the screenshots!

As for the next month stuff, I think we'll most likely get second-stage evos for the starters. Next month or the one after, personal opinion though of course. Definitely would like to see an evolution or two to older Poke' too though!

When i first saw the Legendaries' themes i remembered DeathNote. Ryuk told Light that if he used Deathnote he wouldnt go to neither Heaven nor Hell.I always wondered what that place was and i though something similar for the third Legendary.

In Christian themes(and perhaps others as well?), that place is generally called Purgatory. Could be somehow used as a Pokemon theme, just not sure how. ;)

Well I doubt we are going to have another yin & yang trio, and given the subtle genetics theme we're having I wouldn't be suprised if they represent generation, degeneration and finally mutation- and I wonder if Mewtwo has something to do with it. Given Gamefreaks love for trios I would be even more suprised if there weren't a third.

Also, who wants to bet Gorondas name is going to be Pandamonium in one of its translations? Lol

Those themes make sense and Life and Destruction both relate to those, more scientific, terms in some way, so yeah I can see this being the case. But then, in a more spirituality way, how can mutation relate to the terms of life and destruction? That's the problem I see. Maybe I'm just looking too much into specifics though.

Wow, I am in a super good mood. I have had mixed reactions with the previous new pokemon releases this year, but I have NO COMPLAINTS with these five!

Spoiler:

Too cute! Seriously!
I am calling it now; this will evolve into a french poodle, maybe with peppermint striped (or maybe a sheepdog). I just hope this is some sort of canine species! This is by far my favorite pokemon of X and Y thus far. Please don't crush my dreams with a derpy evolution GF.

Rating: 10/10

Spoiler:

Shushup doesn't really look like a bird to me. I sort of see a garden nome or witch/goblin/elf pokemon given the "beak" is more nose-like. I am very curious of what the evolution will look like. Pefume is known to be both healing and enticing, so I am guessing that it will be some sort of benevolent magical creature aforementioned. Either way, it is sure cute, though, I am not 100% sold. I need to wait and see the evolution.

Rating: 8.5/10

Given that I am not that interested in Clauncher or Skrelp (though I think the designs are nice), I am gonna have a hard time picking between the two fairy pokemon. I think, right now, without seeing the evolutions, I am going to give the edge to Peropaffu, Pokemon X. I hope they are like Petilil and Cottonee, in which, they can be traded in-game very early in the game, even though it defeats the points of exclusives. But I like both of them, so, I don't mind if they implement an early in-game trade!

Spoiler:

Okay, this pokemon would not be my first choice, but I really like the addition of this pokemon, and would use it on a second or third run. It reminds me of Ursula from the Little Mermaid, sort of hideous, yet with feminine qualities, and a dash of malevolence. Though, yes, a very gimmicky pokemon, I think the stat changes with turnover makes perfect sense and a clever use of 3DS technology. Also, I wonder how the animations will look like, will they appear completely different when flipped during battle? I hope so.

My rating: 9/10

Spoiler:

Relieved!

I thought this pokemon would look like Kung Fu Panda, but he is a complete beast. The black eyes are the best detailing and then the scruffy boxing robe design in his black fur gives the pokemon a more feral disposition, without the details I just listed, this pokemon would be a complete joke. However, this given those implements, this guy is not messing around and is sure to scare off any Beartic or Ursaring with as much as a glance.

Score: 9.5/10

Also, I am calling the third pokemon to compliment Yvelte and Xerneas, will be a ghost, to represent afterlife.
