@CliCliW - I'm 99% certain that it is a Shinx.
Maybe I am too hopeful then {XD} Oh well, it probably is just a Shinx, I could just be looking at it wrong then :) Would still be cool if it was a new Poke though :)

On first instinct I thought it looked like Shinx or Litleo....but I'm not sure now.

That looks like anyone wearing a trenchcoat. Looker doesn't really have noticeable outfit. You could say it looks like Dick Gumshoe from Ace Attorney too.

Also, wouldn't Colress have some of that blue quiff around the back of his head?

Gamefreak would not use another company's character in thier art. There is absolutely no chance that that is any ither character that is not from a Pokemon Game. As for looker, yes the brown trench coat is his Iconic look. Possibility of that being looker and Colres are a bit low, but they are the only two characters from the pokemon games to fit those pictures.

I don't think he meant that literally, but was trying to say that it's hard to tell, and indistictive, and generic, that one could say it's anyone with that clothing style xD.

Also irc a man in the PWT who gives trivia on the gym leaders wonders outloud if Lt. Surge is from Unova...so it's there.

I'm hoping that some lesser seen Hoenn gym leaders will Cameo. Maybe Brawly can appear alongside Bruno as they're said to be friends.

Her accent, which is French not France, is only French in English speaking versions. I believe she has an English accent in japanese and another foreign speaking version so it makes very little sense. She like a few characters were "western country" design to add a foriegner appeal to the games.

They also did not add LT. Surge despite him being the Lightning American into the US based Unova Region. Surge even has a specifically stated origin unlike Fantina.

Oh oops, I was in a rush. That I made a mistake in French and France :0
You got.a point with Fantina's nationality. I still would love to see some older Gym Leaders in Kalos though..

Just by gleaning at the Roundtable recap, here are my opinions/speculations on what some Pokémon may get:
-Clauncher gets Swords Dance (just like Krabby and Corphish, its crustacean counterparts), and while I think that it may have the Attack to use it effectively, the same may not be said for its Speed.
-Just by looking at Gogoat's HP meter, it may be a bulky attacker (my estimate for its base HP may be 110, but I could be wrong).

Speaking of the roundtable, does anybody know where I can watch it in full? All I got to see was that recap hosted by the Nintendo eShop's Jessie Cantrell (is that how her name's spelled?)

P.S.: If anybody has responded to my previous post, I'll reply when I get to that response since I'm some few pages behind in reading this thread.

I wonder how they're going to make 8 direction navigation work. That seems to go against physics, unless diagonal movements take 1.4 times the amount of time to move horizontally or vertically.

You mean as in sqrt(2)≈1.414213562373095…?

New trailer for those who haven't seen it yett.

Uhhmmm…has anybody noticed that this trailer has confirmed that the bouncy web shown in the initial trailer is a Bug-type Pokémon Gym, namely Viola's?

Its not obvious at all actually. Its a blurry picture and the image in the center is very hard to see even when you zoom in on it. It can be anything from a Pokemon we know to one we have yet to see. Gamefreak already dropped the young Gogoat which most believe to be Gogoat's Pre-evolution stage.

Looking at it, I see a fish and I seriously doubt its a fish.

Sorry to burst your bubble but that was confirmed two weeks ago. Santalune City Gym Leader Viola is the first Gym specialising in Bug types.

Didn't know where to put this but..... Indicated by the Pokemon Smash footage, Sylveon can have 155 HP at level 50. Assuming it has no IVs or EVs since the Hydreigon in the Nintendo Direct footage didn't have any either, so comparing Sylveon's 155 Hp to Hydreigon's 152 with both being level 50 it's safe to assume Sylveon will have a base 95 Hp. Just a little observation of mine. So assuming all pokemon in the trailer follow the same patterns, talonflame at level 65 with 212 Hp would have a base Hp of 106 (that's alot for a regional bird), Gogoat at level 50 with 183 Hp would have 123 as it's base, froakie at level 50 with 101 Hp has a base of 41(further signifying it might be speed based and not bulky), Clauncher at level 50 with 126 Hp will have a base of 66, Noivern at level 80 (!) and 226 has a base Hp of 85, and Chespin at level 7 with 25 Hp would have a base of about 58 (indicating it might be the bulky one of the group). Any thoughts on these calculations?
There is a picture of a Pokemon in that fight bubble. Anyone know what it is?
That picture as well as several others are on the Nintendo E-shop for X and Y it is indeed a fletchling.

That's impressive that you can work out the Pokemons' base HP from seeing those figures! o_O I know it's some kind of mathematical reasoning but maths was never my strong point. I think Talonflame could be comparable to Rufflet in terms of game positioning, just based on HP and the strength I'm presuming it'll have, perhaps?

At first glance I thought it was a Basculin...

Pretty sure that looks like Fletchling, given its small bird-like shape.

I am more inclined to say it's definitely fish-like of bird-like. Personally I thought it was a funny looking Pink/Purple thing with rounded wings and a curled up tail. A Vivillon maybe? I really don't know what it is, but I don't think Gamefreak would be so careless as to just advertise an as of yet unseen pokemon in a picture like that.

the simple fact that this gen is 3d is instant win in my book. i fondly remember playing Pokemon stadium with my friends as a kid. it was something special to see the creatures you raised come to life in ways a sprite never could. now, there is no more need for Pokemon stadium-ish games. the main series is now, and forever 3d. I've been waiting for this for years.

I wasn't being serious when I said Dick Gumshoe. Obviously it's not him....I just said that to point out how ambiguous it was. It was an exaggeration.

Why would they just slip Looker and Colress randomly into a piece of game art? Not just that but they're just strolling along while the main character runs past them.

There's a lot of stretching and grasping at straws going on.

I would think a "Dance Team" would be human-shaped pokemon. Vanillish has no arms or legs. He could have one though.

Not necessarily, we don't know how technical these dance competitions are actually going to be. Especially if dance competitions are this games version of contests or musicals....I wouldn't expect pokemon to be excluded.

"Dancing" could just be another way of saying "appealing". I.e Vanillish spinning around blowing ice puffs around the room could be considered a beautiful dance.

It will probably be a rhythm action mini game where the pokemon hops around rather than moves limbs. Maybe launching a couple of appeal moves in the middle of it.

They also did not add LT. Surge despite him being the Lightning American into the US based Unova Region. Surge even has a specifically stated origin unlike Fantina.

In BW2's PWT, The information guy who describes each Gym Leader says. "Lt. Surge... Is he from Unova?"

My Team: Chespin, Helioptile, Clauncher.

Helioptile looks A LOT like Mawile in the best way. I love both of them.

It's still to early for me to decide on a team, proably will build it as I go.
17 days and 3 months until they come out, wonder how many more new Pokemon we'll get during this interval. I'm hoping to see some more evolutions of old Pokémon, hopefully non gen 1 Pokémon.

But Surge never made an appearance before the PWT. He didn't appear at all through the first set of games despite him being American and Unova supposedly being in/based off of America. This is the same issue that Fantina who actually doesn't have a set location as she has an English accent in the Jap games and French in English games. It would have made way more sense to have LT. Surge in Unova than it does for Fantina to randomly appear in Kalos.

for Fantina to randomly appear in Kalos.

It wouldn't be completely random though.

Even if Fantina is english in the Japanese version. She is french in the English and German versions of the game. (I read a post from somebody a while back saying that she was french in the german versions too)

I wouldn't call that random, there's definitely something connecting her to France/Kalos. It might not be the strongest of connections but it's still there. They could retcon her to originate from Kalos. I mean from what we know of Kalos so far with it's beauty and fashion.....would you really be surprised if a character like Fantina showed up?

I think this discussion is a little pointless though, she won't appear in the game in any meaningful capacity. At best she'll make an appearance like Jasmine did and at worst she'll get a comment like Lt. Surge got in the PWT saying she's from Kalos. I don't think it's something Game Freak would be racking their brains over for very long. She's not going to have a sub plot dedicated to her.

I'll like to see Wallace and Juan appear too as Kalos is about beauty and they enjoy beauty as much if not more than Fantina. Also Juan looks spanish (and his name, though he could also be American Hispanic as in Mexico, Venezuela, etc.), and Spain is south of France irl so it'll make sense for him to appear. Also Wallace appeared too little imo for a Champion, even less so than Steven in RS and Iris in B2W2, having only appeared during the Sootopolis crisis...and in the league...so I feel he needs more screen time in the series overall. Maybe have him take the "place" of Cynthia in these games.
