I remember the old tiger electronic Pokedex. It had so much info on the one-hundred fifty Pokemon (Mew wasn't announced yet); height, strength, basic attacks, info found in the games like that. It's odd though, how come it knew all the Stats of the Legendary birds and Mewtwo when they weren't even technically archived?
But whatever, I think an App that'd be a Bulbapedia in your pocket would be a good idea... if you handled it carefully.

I don't think a handheld Pokedex is necessary as there already is an app called 'PokeMaster' on the Apple Store. It provides all the information you need for all Pokemon from all generations, complete with a complete and detailed Movedex and an Itemdex. It has everything you need, and it's completely free! All of this from a person who uses it and is completely satisfied with it. If you don't have an Apple device, you can check if it's available in the stores of your other devices, or you could always check online on Bulbapedia or Serebii.
