The Overlord VS Opposite Day

Welcome to my first battle report. Very recently, Opposite Day and I had an extremely close match and so I thought it would be worthwhile to share this experience with the competitive battlers of Pokecommunity. A quick thanks to Vrai and Spino's battle report, as it proved to be an invaluable source of information to base my battle report on in other words, I stole their ideas like a boss.

Overlord Drakow sent out VAN'DALGYON! (Hydreigon)
oppoSITE DAY sent out Mienshao!

Most likely it will lead off with Fake Out. Switching to Bronzong is the best bet as this switch could also provide an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock on the following turn.

What! A double switch on the very first turn! How unexpected. He must have taken precaution over the possibility of Hydreigon being scarfed. The double switch has however, revealed the fact that Hydreigon is not scarfed. Regardless, Scizor should not do much damage to Bronzong, therefore let's proceed as planned and use Stealth Rock.

Gyarados will be a tough adversary to handle. Unlikely he will use Taunt so the deduction is that he will either Dragon Dance or attack immediately with Waterfall. With no previous knowledge, a Salamence switch in seems like a decent choice. Intimidate will cut the attack stat down of Gyarados. If it does Dragon Dance though, things will get painful.

The score has been equalized but OppoSITE DAY has the advantage of dictating the momentum of the match. With Scizor active, Magnezone should make a good switch. Most Scizor set up a Swords Dance initially on the switch in, but then Magnezone can knock it out with Hidden Power Fire.

One more turn. That Latios is quite low on health from the Life Orb. Perhaps the team can stall out the Life Orb by switching frequently and having the Pokémon take 'not very effective' attacks. It is worth a shot. To that end, Hydreigon will enter the field once more.

Recover was not expected but this has probably worked out better. He knows Haxorus is equipped with a Choice Scarf. He should really swap out to Scizor to take that Outrage or Dual Chop. Trapping and killing that Scizor is going to be incredibly tough. Either that Scizor has to kill something and Magnezone comes in for the revenge knock out (which will only work if and only if Tailwind is not active), or double switching Magnezone on the turn he sends Scizor in. Let's take the gamble and double switch. Magnezone needs to do his job, otherwise the Dragons cannot unleash their full potential.

Alright. Magnezone should die next turn and then there will be one turn of Tailwind left. The plan is to send in Scrafty and get a Dragon Dance up. Do not let that leader board fool you. With that Tailwind up and running and with Salamence down for the count, his Mienshao is free to Hi Jump Kick and knock anything out before it can even attack! It's super effective!
The foe's Haxorus lost 87% of its health!
The foe's Haxorus fainted!

Overlord Drakow won the battle!

Props
- Opposite Day for giving me such a great match.
- Haxorus was the Dragon of the match. He did a lot of good for me in this battle and ended up sweeping at the end.
- The double switch which allowed my Magnezone to knock out Scizor. That was crucial for me to have a chance at winning this match.
- Choice Scarf.
- Opposite Day not having Wolf's Haxorus.

Slops
-Losing half of my team to Tailwind sweeping Mienshao.
- My favourite Pokémon Hydreigon, doing NOTHING FOR ME.
- Scrafty sweep stopped by Prankster Tailwind.
- Salamence's Draco Meteor failing to OHKO Gyarados.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this battle report. Ideally it has been informative and entertaining for you.

Nice log, Drakow, you certainly play your team well, I've lost to it a few times, although you usually seem to have the hax gods on your side. x)
Anyhow, this was a very interesting battle and I enjoyed your tactic of stalling out Tailwind. Just a tip though, use a darker shades of color, instead of things like light greens, yellows and blues, just so people don't have to strain their eyes. You can find a ton of color codes here. To get a certain color just replace the text after the equal sign with the code pertaining to each color on the chart.

Pretty interesting read, Drakow. :] I can never beat your team! ;-; But anyway, a small nitpick; a battle recap after every round was kinda unnecessary. Isn't it normally after ever Pokemon KO?

Thank you. Perhaps I will do more in the future - it depends if I am involved in any good battles in the future.

Thank you. I changed the colours around a little. Perhaps now it is less painful for your eyes.

Thank you. Initially I was going to to do it just after every knock out as you said however, as I am a mathematician I like to be able to review the team status at any turn during the battle. Information is power, so while it was more time consuming, I think it is worthwhile to display the statistics at the end of each turn.

A great read all around. Easy to understand, informative, and very entertaining. Excellent commentary as well. An overall A+ and a true service to the CBC!

Really though, nice job Drakow. Awesome log. Much better than the battles that we've been having recently. I still owe you a good battle.. Next time Drakow, NEXT TIME!!

I look forward to seeing more battle logs from you in the future. Well done!

Wow, nice battle! You should post this as a warstory on Smogon if you haven't yet! Too bad about Hydreigon not doing anything though.

Haha, a pretty awesome read. It was very entertaining. Hopefully I can have a great battle with you, that is, if I stop losing. XD

Anyway, it was very informative, and I think I learned a lot from this log.
Thanks for the awesome log. :)
