It could be a special attack, not really like any old attack, but something along the lines of "magnet fusion" "steel fusion" etc, depending on what fuses. Might be a little too complicated, though, given that you'd need double battles for it for the most part. :(

It's not complicated! Just find dark grass (where two wild pokemon can appear at once) and you're good to go!

Oh yeah true that would be easy to find. Maybe a singles version where if you face the opposing magnet and use said attack then after the battle you fuse and it duplicates so each trainer gets one, could be an extra twist I guess?

I don't imagine they'll do that kind of evolution. Maybe if it were party evolution. Like if you have pokemon X Pokemon Y the two will fuse after the two have equal Ev's and have leveled up...

Ugh equal EVs that would be annoying ;_; it's unlikely buuuut if it did happen I'd be annoyed that its the only way you can :(

At least Feebas had a unique evolution method 9_9 Now it's basically, "You must have X item/X Pokemon and trade" and that's so overused...

I'm in favor of environment-based evolutions and moveset-based evolution. Those don't involve any continuity issues and allows ease-of-access for plenty of previous generational Pokemon to evolve.

I really just hope trade evolutions are kept to a minimal. I mean, I understand the need to include them to retain the whole "play with others" schtick, but it's somewhat of a chore.

Same here, hopefully we only get two or so trade evolutions. Unova didn't seem to have many actually the only one's I recall are Shelmet, and Karrablast. Hoenn also only had two I can think of those being Clamperl's evolutions. A repeat of Kanto and Sinnoh's trade number however is too much...

If we see a return of Pokeblock like treats we may see pokemon who evolve based on Cuteness, Toughness, Smartness, and/or Coolness as Feebas' original kind of evolution hasn't really been used beyond that.

You mean Johto, not Kanto. Johto had the second-largest number of trade evolutions, behind Sinnoh, if I'm not mistaken.

I'd like more condition-based evolutions like Feebas. Something along the lines of a mentally-dumb Pokemon evolving into a genius after achieving maximum "Smart".

Nononono not the condition evolutions :( I... never got a Milotic for the reason of sucking at pokeblocks so if there's stuff like that I'm going to have to wait years to get mons and oh my God I would prefer new trading-based evolution methods.

Someone mentioned weather, and I think that seems like a nice one. ^^ I can't really think of anything else that they could do that would cause a Pokemon's evolution, except more Pokemon that evolve by methods we already have (ahem feebas>milotic). /shrug.

There are more condition based Evolutions than Contest Conditions, such as Gender condition and Pokemon in party.

As for adding evolutions with pre-existing items, its not completely impossible. Only thing against it is existing Pokemon that could do that but not evolve before. Well I bring up Lickitung and Piloswine who both could learn the moves then needed for evolution in a generation prior to being able to evolve.

If not, then most likely we are getting more item based evolutions with trade. This would include brand new items to make Pokemon evolve.

As for two being becoming one evolution, I don't see it simply cause that's not really how evolution works. Generally you have one base that can branch out like all current branching evolutions. I haven't really heard of two separate creatures evolving into another. I don't think something like that would ever be done.

Gamefreak should make more gender-based evolutions, such as nidoking/queen, vespiquen and gallade.

So kinda like if they were in the same team, or a double team and just evolved together?? For gendered ones that does actually make sense imo.

How about a Pokemon evolving by leveling up under a certain weather condition? I'm sure that a Pokemon like Sunkern for example would appreciate the rain/sun to help it to evolve into Sunflora.

Other possibilities could be that a Pokemon can only evolve under a certain ability, although on second thought I'm not sure how this is going to work. It might possibly need up to three different evolutions depending on how many abilities the Pokemon has, to make sure that this idea works well.

In Pokemon Snap, which Pokemon was is that you have to throw an apple, or rock at it , to knock it into a pit of lava to evolve? Charmeleon right? I was thinking of physical requirment of evolving like the way I was describing. Putting a Pokemon in lava, or freeze it solid, or dumping it in a special kind of water. But must have a valid reason why. Like has to be level 25 only, or any other level. Or must have a specific attack, defense, or speed points. Or happiness has to be high. Somewhere in the lines of that. (Obviously having a action or option to have for your Pokemon to do so at the place where you evolve the Pokemon)

Maybe a Pokemon that evolves only if the entire team is happy, or satisfied with the owning trainer.

A Pokemon that's heavily depended on some way of food like berries to evolve. Feeding it a butt load of berries, puffins etc; (Rare Candy doesn't count)

Or the opposite of happiness. Have a Pokemon evolve because the anger or sadness it builds up.

I'm surprised weather based evolutions haven't occurred already, actually...

But definitely I'd prefer that over sun/water stone. :)

I'm also surprised Gf hasn't made weather evolutions especially after the introduction of weather to the environment in generation 1. Perhaps they could make it natural weather (from the environment rather then created by a Pokemon move) if they don't want us to get the evolution too early on (well if they didn't they could also put them near the end), or perhaps like I said earlier in this thread they can do an evolution using weather when a Pokemon has one of the weather rocks and said weather is activated, and the pokemon levels up holding say Heat rock in the case of Sunflora ( for the sake of an example) while under the sun it'll evolve.

Weather evolutions do sound pretty good at first, but then you realize that all you have to do is use raindance or sandstorm or hail or sunny day. This form of evolution is too easy and simple to be actually used in-game.

What about evolution induced by some location-specific 'weathers'..I am thinking something like Volcanic Ash , Magma or a Suphuric atmosphere near a volcano ? Ofc, i say weather because i lack a better term.
I can see certain fire types evolving by 'bathing' in Magma and some Poison types evolving by 'breathing' in the sulphuric Atmosphere.

Can you guys think of more along the same lines ?

Well that would certainly keep you from using Rain Dance or other moves to evolve your Pokemon (although I don't think that's such a bad thing in the first place), but it's not really too different from the using rocks to evolve Eevee into Leafeon/Glaceon or evolving Magneton to Magnezone. They're still location based evolutions.

Unless of course it would be dependent on random weather, which seems kinda mean since you've got no control of anything like that and you can't even just wait for them to happen like you can wait for it to be night/day.
