I always seem to like the least liked starter.

If possible I would really like to get both Froakie and Chespin. Not a big fan of generic fox pokemon.

Since Gen III, all my starters have been the water type. I'm not planning to change that anytime soon. Mudkip > Squirtle > Oshawott > Piplup > Totodile > Froakie

If that were true, then this will be a bad thing, because that was part of the main reasons why Johto's starters were inferior, compared to the other starters, and on-par with Unova's starters.

Umm, every starter except Bulbasaur has been pure type... so I don't really understand how that makes sense...

The Johto starters were still mono types even in their full evolved forms, which is what Serebii has confirmed about the newest starters.

We don't know that. For all we know, they could simply be reporting that the Basic stages are all mono-types.

I'm holding out hope that the three will evolve into a Grass/Dark, Fire/Psychic, and Water/Fighting triad, but Froakie's design leads me to believe it may evolve into a Water/Flying type due to the cloud-like collar around its neck.

Chespin could become Grass/Ground or Grass/Dark
Fennekin could be pure Fire or Fire/Psychic
Froakie could be Water/Flying, Water/Ice, Water or Water/Fighting

Oh the possibilities.

Well...being one of the first with the Water/Flying possibility, I still want to keep that hope up, despite the x4 Electric issue. Though, the "cloud" are bubbles. Its similar to how some frogs carry their eggs in a sack on their backs. So Froakie can be pure water all the way through since the stuff on it have been stated to be bubbles.

Also....Watch they give Fennekin a high physical stat and hardly any physical Fire moves if they make it part psychic. They have to troll us one way or another XD

Make a pokemon that many fans love. Mess it up in the most unholy of ways.

The Johto starters were still mono types even in their full evolved forms, which is what Serebii has confirmed about the newest starters.

While I don't really check upon this Serebii site you speak of, I read the same thing on Pokebeach and it stated that the starters themselves (not their evolutions) are all pure type. We know this because it has been confirmed on the official Pokemon X & Y website—unless Serebii has some magical official source nobody has heard of, they do not know anything about the starter's evolutions.

I may be completely wrong, and Serebii somehow does know information about the starters' evolutions, but I'm a little skeptical.

EDIT: Is this what you're referring to?

In The Games Department
Pokémon X & Pokémon Y

Nintendo has sent out some new details regarding Pokémon X & Y. Specifically, it has confirmed that the types of Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie will be pure Grass, Fire and Water respectively. In addition to that, they have released six direct feed screenshots of the Pokémon in battle, which have been added to our screenshot page. Click the image to go to our page

From here?

If this is what you're referring to, then I most definitely don't see any references to the starters' evolved forms, or any magical official source with which to confirm such information.

I really hope the theory that Froakie is based off of a burglar is true and that the final form is Water/Dark - I would much prefer that to Water/Flying.

Spoiler:

Fairly certain this is fake, but if Fennekin's evo turns out anything like this, I could care less if it was Fire/Fighting.

I'm kind of hoping the starter evos all turn out to be pure types. Call me boring, but for some reason I prefer single-typed starters.
You're boring. :P

I never even realized Bulbasaur was subtyped as Poison until now...just looked it up. Whaddaya know.

I agree with Tente, there is nothing about the evolutions there. Also, those six "new" screenshots are from the same trailer; I could pin down the exact time of each one if I wanted, so there's nothing "new" about them.

I'm actually hoping that it doesn't turn out that way. Making Fennekin into a Fire/Psychic quadruped fox would make it a little to similar to Ninetales for my taste. I know Ninetales isn't actually part Psychic, but it has demonstrated psychic abilities. If it were going to be a "subtype trio" of sorts, I'd like it to be Fire/Rock (with an Egyptian Sphinx theme), Grass/Fighting (with a Robin Hood theme), and Water/Flying (with a balloon frog theme)

I support this! It's a true double triangle (since Dark is immune to Psychic, that's more of a pseudo-triangle), and all of them have at least one double weakness. :D However, the double weaknesses might be unfair...

Exactly. Plus, I'd rather that the starters have brand new type combinations. Maybe something along the lines of Fire/Poison or Fire/Electric (I don't count Heat Rotom) for Fennekin or Grass/Ghost for Chespin. I don't actually expect these types, I'm just throwing out some examples.

Serebii didn't say anything about the evolutions, people are just jumping to conclusions lol. But I actually hope they stay monotyped. All three of them. It'd be nice.

Hey, by the way, given the Dream World as and the fact that Game Freak has been making previous pokemon more interesting via new abilities (see Espeon with Magic Bounce), what abilities would you like to see the starters have if they were to have dream world abilities?

Well, for me, honestly, I hope that Fennekin gets Drought... although it may be a little unlikely. Also maybe Speed Boost?

The Dream World is something I never really gave thought to til now :O

I'm sorta hoping for the following, if the DW makes a return (I don't see why it wouldn't):

-Chespin: <Poison Point> or <Chlorophyll> (Poison Point because the spines may, or may not, be poisonous, given Chespin's origins.)

-Fennekin: <Solar Power> or <Magic Guard>

-Froakie: <Drizzle> or <Swift Swim>

PROBABLY Froakie simply because water/fighting has a lot of coverage with not too many weaknesses. dark/grass has 6 weakness and one of them is x4 while fire psychic has 5 weaknesses and there will probably be more tempting fire/psychic pokemon to fill my roster.

But Grass/Dark also has 7 resistances. Ground/Ghost/Water/Grass/Electric/Dark and is immune to Psychic
