Should have posted this question in the essentials thread then instead of making a new one.
To change the player graphic go into the graphics folder and then the characters folder, look for the graphic named Red, that's the male hero sprite. Not sure about the female hero sprite name.

Unless you're using the newer essentials. The files are called Boy_Walk, Boy_Run. Ect.
The females are the same, except it says Girl at the front.
The names of the charsets for walking, running, surfing, diving and cycling can be whatever you want. They're just "boy_run", etc. to make it clear how it works. You're best off just editing those files, though, rather than trying to use different ones.
