1st gen: Basic and average in stats but overall good design throughout the evolutions. Bulbasaur is my fav out of the three.

2nd gen: Once again average in stat but great in design. I used all three starters at one point or another and they all work well in-game but not useful beyond that.

3rd gen: Oh dear...Blaziken stats and movepool sucked. Worse in-game, it was either getting a fire starter or getting a Camerupt. That sucked even more. Sceptile was outright forgettable. Swampert's typing however saved this generation. Only have to worry about Grass types? YES!

4th gen: Between Torterra's tank abilities to mow down electric and ground types, Inferape's movepool being suited to stat strengths, and Empoleon's large list resistance as well as immunity to poison...THESE WERE THE BEST STARTERS EVER!

5th gen: ...Why did you screw it up, Game Freak? Serperior's stats and movepool makes it pathetic for combat. Emboar's defense makes it a joke to use. Samurott is...just ok. Nothing special...and their designs are horrible! WORST STARTERS EVER!

I don't really dislike any of the starters. I've used them all (Literally, all) of them at one point in time and I've grown to be attached to all of them.

Design-wise, however, Gen II was the most bland. I love Johto, Cydnaquil, Chikorita, and Totodile, but they just didn't stand out among the others.

In my opinion, Gen. II captures my vote. I don't like Chikorita's movepool or Cyndaquil's looks. I don't mind Totodile, (And therefore, I'd always go for him since I like Water-type starters), but really, bland typings for fully evolved starters don't interest me.

I can't stand Gen IV's starters, although I tolerate Piplup. I mean, they just seemed really boring to me. Oh, a turtle with a leaf on his head... a monkey with a fire on his butt. Jeez.

Wow for me its obvious 3rd GEN. They had terrible stats, movepool and poor design. i mean who gets excited to use Treecko,Torchic, or Mudkip. I really only somewhat liked Blaziken & Swamperts designs but other than that to me it was very easily the WORST EVER!

I can't see how everyone one thinks 5th Gen was the worst, Samurott (Water type with Ninja abilities is awesome) although i didn't care for either Design's of Oshawott, Tepig & Snivy i did like Samurott,Pignite,Emboar. (Hated Snivy and it's evolutions)

Actually, I'm not that much of a competitive battle type fellow, so even though they had good stats and movepools, I disliked Johto because there were NO dual types. And I'm a HUGE fan of dual types. Which is why I like Hoenn and Sinnoh's starters.

Generation V takes my vote. Didn't like any of the move sets and the stats weren't all that great.

I'm not very fond of any of the Gen 5 starters, which is why I always have a hard time choosing which one I should go with at the beginning. I've used all 3 but I never really liked any lol.

Agree with most above. Gen V starters are all bad for end-game. Samurott is the only one I ever found use with and even it is outclassed by most other Water-types. My main gripe with the new starters is they just aren't anything special. Anything they can do a dozen others of the same type can do much much better.

Gen 5. Having another fire/fighting is over doing it, and, even though i like Serperior, it had no move-pool.

I have to say Gen V, mainly because of the designs of their final forms. Oshawott's is okay, but removing Snivy's limbs and making Tepig bipedal just ruined those starters for me.

YES!
In my Opinion, this generation had the greatest designs, plus Sceptile was in terms of stats the most powerful grass starter at that point. High speed and sp. attack, plus access to leaf blade made him far more dangerous than Venusaur and Meganium for me.

I'd have to say Gen IV on this.
This was when their names started to become ridiculous and their designs were pretty bad.
Good movesets and Pokemon, but look and sound ridiculous.

Gen 5 for sure. While the designs were pretty cool, practicality was a nightmare in itself. They literally covered 1 gym each compared to the 2-3 they would in other regions, and their movesets are cramped. Gen 4 was awesome in this regard for example.

I hate to admit it, but I mostly use pokemon on looks. And none of the starters of generation 5 sparked me, just had 0 interest in them.

I actually have to say 2nd Gen. I like to use dual types a lot, although I still like the starters a lot, they are my least favorite of they starters.

I don't really have one generation that I absolutely hate or really dislike... most likely gen 5. Samurott and Serperior are cool, but their movepools are kind of bland and Samurott's stats are really average.

Most of the time I go off look though, because my girly side always comes out whenever I start a new game or restart and old one :).
-Kanto: Love em all, grew up with them, I always want al of them every time I start, there isn't one of them that I dislike at all.

-Johto: I hte everything about totodile's evolutions, when I use it it never evolves. I like meganium, but only in-game. Typhlosion and cyndaquil are both ugly to me, so I evolve cyndaquil into a quilava and keep it there forever mwahaha.

-Hoenn: I likes mudkips :) but its evolutions scare the bajeezus out of me. Actually, that's true for all 3 of the pokemon here, they scared me half to death when I first started the game but hey I was all teenie tiny I got over it.

-Sinnoh: I don't like chimchar, never did never will I hate everything about it. I like turtwig and piplup though, espcially thir typings.
-Unova:.... gross, ew, yuck, spit. None of the babies are squirtle cute, I only like serperior because it reminds me of dragonair and samurott because it looks like something I'd have fun riding, like a suicune type of thing.

I thought Generation 2 had the worst trio. Typhlosion is awesome and Feraligatr is pretty cool but I don't think Meganium's design is that appealing.
