bar_introduction.gif
Professor Elm is a scientist who has dedicated his life to study Pokémon.
He's still young but he enjoys a great respect among the other reseachers thanks to his astonishing discoveries, like those related to the evolution of the Pokémon.

One day, while he's working, Prof. Elm gets an e-mail from an acquaintance whose name is Mr. Pokémon:
"I made a sensational discovery! You have to see it!"
Unfortunately Prof. Elm is too busy to leave his laboratory, so he decides to ask someone for help... and that person is you!

"Please, - asks you Prof. Elm - visit Mr. Pokémon and take a look at his discovery!"
A generous and curious person like you can't sure say no!

Then Prof. Elm shows you three Pokémon telling you:
"Choose the one you'd like to take with you."
It's an important moment: you're going to receive your very first Pokémon!

Afterwards you realize a boy outside is spying you from the window. He looks like he's as old as you, so you leave the laboratory to meet him.
But once there he pushes you away shouting:
"Hey, what are you looking at?"

Who is that strange boy? And what is Mr. Pokemon's discovery?
You will discover it soon...

Pokémon Oro Sole
will feature original Johto gameplay, with improved graphics of the FireRed codebase.
The goal is to be as accurate G/S series remake as virtually possible.
Of course, the remake needs some game improvements and those will be done as well.
The development plans might change along the way, so please stay tuned and check both News and Future Plans sections regularly.

What's a bug?
A bug is an error that prevents the hack from behaving as intended.
A hack that contains a large number of bugs, and/or bugs that seriously interfere with its functionality, is said to be buggy.

What's a glitch?
A glitch is a bug too but it's most likely related to graphics ones. (e.g., a tile which acts weirdly).
In this case the proper adjective is glitchy, obviously.

What's an oddity?
An oddity always refer to a strange and unconventional behavior but that cannot really interpreted as a bug or as a glitch.
Sometimes it refers to incompleted parts.

Known Bugs

   None so far.

Glitch List

   Nothing, for now.

Oddities

   ● Some sprites aren't replaced yet since there aren't ready: big intro ones, backpics and trainer card ones.
   ● When the Mom's overworld is moving it looks like it's levitating instead.
   ● The Mom's script it's not completed due to the length of the beta.
   ● There's still the Potion on the PC in the beginning.
   ● The PokéGear still have the VSSeeker picture. It wasn't changed since the PokéGear hasn't a real purpose yet.
   ● The World Map still displays Kanto.
   ● The house in the middle of Percorso 29 (Route 29) won't warp you anywhere just because there's nothing over the door
   ● On Percorso 30 (Route 30), in the near of Mr. Pokémon's house, you could eventually see a weird top of a tree.
This happens because the map it's itself-connected (for now) and that floating tree-top is a side effect.

How to correctly report a bug/glitch/oddity

When reporting something, make sure to answer these questions:
  1. Is the bug/glitch/oddity reported yet?

       ● Yes. It's already reported. No need to do anything.
       ● No. It's not reported yet and therefore a report is greatly encouraged.

  2. Is the bug/glitch/oddity fixed yet?

       ● Yes. It's already fixed so it's crealy unnecessary to report something that doesn't exist anymore.
       ● No. In this case answer the rest of the questions and do what you have to do accordingly.

  3. Is the bug/glitch/oddity related to cheating?

       ● Yes. Some cheats are involved. Well, any bug/glitch/oddity due to cheats won't be taken into consideration. Don't even try to report it.
       ● No. OK, go ahead with the other two questions.
All questions have been answered. Good! Let's see now what's the reporting form that must be used, if necessary:

HTML:
Oro Sole Bug Report
--------
Beta Version:
Problem Type:
Short Description:
How to Reproduce it:
Screenshots (Optional):

Remember that the form above has to be filled entirely. Now, a brief explanation about each part:

  • Beta Version
    Self explanatory.

  • Problem Type
The choices are: bug, glitch or oddity.

  • Short Description
Few words that could properly describe the problem.

  • How to Reproduce it
A step by step explanation in order to reproduce the problem (and therefore to fix it later).

  • Screenshots (Optional)
Some screenshots about the bug/glitch/oddity found.
One final note...
At the moment we don't need beta testers. Do not ask if you can become one, please.

  • Zel, for some scripting tips.
  • Hiroshi Sotomura, for that neat Thread Presentation ReadMe.
  • Martin, for a couple of suggestions for this thread.

  • As_Stars_Go_Out, for some maps and tiles which were really inspiring.

[alink id="contents"]^ Top of the Thread[/alink id]

Before
doing anything, it's better to check the general FAQ (in particular its Emulation section) and Hiroshi Sotomura's thread.
They will sure help working with IPS patches as well as solving most common problems.

Oh, and since I understand not everyone could have the Italian ROM I've also included an English to Italian Patch.
That said, have fun with Oro Sole!

Oro Sole Beta
     Version - September 2007 Beta v1.0.
Format - Standard IPS Patch File.
     Requirements - A Pokémon FireRed (I) v1.0 clean ROM.

NOTE: as stated in the Hack Progress section, the beta goes up to Percorso 30 (Route 30). Mr. Pokémon is included, obviously.

Oro Sole Beta - English Translation
     Version - September 2007 Beta v1.0 [Translated].
Format - Standard IPS Patch File.
     Requirements - A Pokémon FireRed (I) v1.0 clean ROM.

English to Italian Patch
Format - Standard IPS Patch File.
     Requirements - A Pokémon FireRed (U) v1.0 clean ROM.

P.S. Sorry for my good English.

Wow! I'm really impressed! This is looking great!
Now, let me ask a question you'll be sure to run into MANY, MANY times ;D
Will this hack be in English?
Anyways, good luck with this!

IF people like this hack, then it'll be translated in English..
Else, well.. there'll only be a Italian version.

Wow, this remake has great potential. And the box art looks so real!

Can I also ask where did you get the text in the banner that says Versione OroSole?

Wow... Another gold remake... I'm starting to think that the 10 people or so who are trying to make one should join to make an the ultimate remake.
I'm interested in seeing how you implement the day and night.
Ah, you forgot to add the name of the routes and the first city.
A question: what's the frequency of the berries? How long they take to grow?
Good luck!

Well, even though it may sound a bit short right now, with the next releases I may start getting more interested about playing it.

Probably you'll need to work a bit more on the maps, because it's not like every single part of the map must look as it was in the original (because, let's face it, some of Gold's maps look a bit empty if you follow their exact structure)

Oh well, as I used to say "Good luck Gold Remaker!" though this time it should be something like "Good luck Gold Remaking Team!" ;)

Good Luck to you all. I do not speak Italian though. I am seeing more and more GSC remakes. If I personally wanted an exact remake i would load in my silver cart. If you ask Zel nicely, he may share a few maps with you. You need something that makes you hack different than all the other GSC remakes.

well, I think that sorta defeats the purpose. as I understand it, he wants to make this EXACTLY like gold.
Shiny Gold has new rivals/scripts etc and a new phone system

this hack is going to be as close to the original as physically possible

This is so great Andrea!
I am sure that with all your hardcore knowledge it will result in a pretty profesional hack.

Well, to play this beta took me very few time, but now you have done the basic work so the developing process will be faster and longer betas will come. Humm. Good omen.

PD: You know I love your copyrighted thread!
