Ultimate Monotype Challenge Thread

Sorry I didn't update yesterday. I was up some mountain for most of the day. I'll have an update today sometime.

Sorry guys... School has started so I'll try to catch up as soon as I can get to the challenge comp... Expect a twist ;)

Update on my HGSS steel challenge:
- I beat the Elite Four!!!
Summary:
1st elite: I beat him easily with Crunch and Ice Beam
2nd Elite: I beat him with a strong STAB from Empoleon: Surf.
3rd eltie: This one was harder. Hitmontop do dig on Onix. Onix did Earthquake. Hitmontop faint.
Hitmonchan vs Aggron. Hitmonchan do ThunderPunch. Aggron do Iron Head. after 2 turn, hitnochan faint.
Hitmonlee vs Magnezone. Hitmonlee do Swagger. Magnezone do Thunderbolt.
Hitmonlee do Hi Jump Kick and miss. Hitmonlee faint.
Onix vs Empoleon. Empoleon do surf. Onix faint
Machamp vs Empoleon. Empoleon do Surf. Machamp do Cross Chop. Empoleon survive with the berry that reduce fighting move. Empoleon do Surf Again. Machamp Faint.
4th elite: I always bring the pokemonwho had supereffective move and beat her.
Champion: Gyarados beat by Magnezone
Charizard beat by Empoleon
Aerodactyl beat by Aggron
I have a steel team, so everyone resist Drogon move. I take do Dragonite slowly.

That is perfectly all right, and in fact, the only way I beat Wallace. He couldn't ohko my Tropius slave with anyone other than Milotic and Sealeo, so I would send out Geodude w/ Quick Claw, kill luvdisc w/ EQ, he sends out whiscash, Explode (if i don't go first I send out Tropius), heal w/ someone else, switch back when they die, and repeat. And since I'm the ruler of this challenge, I say it counts.

Congrats. Hopefully Red won't be to much of a challenge for you ;)

Just a small, Unimportant update from me:

Just took out the Rocket base in Mahogany town, Not much to report except Lance is officially a bad ass! he hyper beamed a guy!!

I managed to take a picture of the blood curdling scene:

Another successful day in the land of the Poison monotype (my priority since I started it first.)
-Took on Koga and won with Gengar's Psychic
-Took on Giovanni in Silph Co. with Venusaur
-Took on Sabrina with Nidoqueen's Body Slam
- Went Cinnabar Island
-Spent long time looking for Magmar for Yellow version
-Beat Blaine with Nidoqueen's Surf
-Beat Giovanni for Gym Badge with Venusaur and Gengar.
- Beat Gary through teamwork. His Alakazam gave me a fair amount of trouble though.

Now to Victory Road and the Elite 4!

You may, just no hacking in level 100 Pokemon and stuff that you wouldn't do on the game. The only extra thing you can do is use the Speed Button, since it doesn't actually alter the game.

I have completed my Poison Monotype! Beat the E4 on my second try. Gary's Alakazam murdered me the first time.
Lorelei: Gengar's Thunderbolt
Bruno: Venusaur's Razor Leaf and Gengar's Psychic
Agatha: Nidoqueen's Earthquake with a little help from Gengar
Lance: Gengar's Thunderbolt and Nidoqueen's Ice Beam
Gary:
Pidgeot-Thunderbolt
Alakazam- Lots of revives until it used reflect or something then used Body Slam until it paralyzed. Then sent out Gengar for parafusion and evetually killing it.
Rhydon-Razor Leaf
Exeggutor- Body Slam. Spent time healing my team to recover from alakazam.
Gyrados- Thunderbolt then confused it watch it kill itself.
Charizard- Surf and Thunderbolt.

Team:

Nidoqueen Lv. 51
Venusaur Lv.47

Will do another monotype in Blue eventually. Now going to work on the Ground mono in Pearl.

won't update my challenge in a few more days.. don't have much time.. you MIGHT be able to see one on monday, maybe. That's if i beat brawly, of course.

-FINALLY got through the pokemon mansion, i hate wild pokemon now

-Evolved Rosebud into Vileplume

-FOUGHT my way to Blane

-through a streak of luck I finally beat Blane and learned to despise Fire Spin

-Went to Saffaron to pick up the badge that i had missed

-when i got there found out i needed to rescue Silph Co.

-So instead i challenged the fighting Dojo

-Won quite handily

-went to rescue Silph

-Did so with great ease

-Since the Gym was now unblocked that was my next stop

-Ran through the Gym with relative ease and defeated the ever-recovering-Alakazam with a lucky SolarBeam from Eggman

-flew back to Viridian to face the final Gym Leader

-It was a quick victory with Eggman doing all the fighting

-Headed over toward the IP and ran into Flare

-Fought Flare many, many, MANY times, finally a stroke of luck and Charizard didn't crit. and I won the day

-Got through the Plato to Victory Road and I guess i had all the badges

-Traversed the Maze-like victory road and arrived at the E4

-Fighting the E4 mostly failing, i find out Lance's Dragonairs know nothing besides agility, and Slave II kills both of them cause he was the only one left in the party, and expecting him to DIE IMMIDATLY, he was in the battle, but NOOOOO Dragonair only knows AGILITY, stupid Dragonair

-Finally got tired of getting the crap beaten out of me, went to catch the last known grass pokemon in Red Kanto

-Got to Pallet, surfed a little south, searched grass, searching... searching... searching... searching...FOUND ONE!!! oh, no, it died... searching... searching... searching... FOUND ANOTHER!!!

-Caught Tangleweed (Tangela)

-First ever pokegrind, Tanleweed, Victory Road, Absorb, Lots of Time

Current Team:

Beat blue with a lvl 41 magmar, a lvl 41 flareon, a lvl 40 rapidash, a lvl 42 ninetails, and a lvl 81 charizard. Charzard used his last PP to beat gary, if he would've missed, i would've lost. Haha. I just got my 8th badge in crystal, with a lvl 31 growlith, and a lvl 55 typhlosion.

Can I join? Will be starting this after I complete my current LeafGreen Run. Is it allowed to catch a Poliwhirl to trade it with a guy in Cerulean for a Jynx?

Btw, I plan to take on a Psychic Run on FireRed/LeafGreen. If I get bored of my LeafGreen run, I'll do this on FireRed and leave that on hold first.

Hey there :) I'm new but I saw this thread and thought I'd give it a shot as I've been wanting something new to do with my classic Pokémon games :D

I completed a Rock-type run of Pokémon Yellow a few weeks back - capturing footage of every Gym and Pokémon League battle on film with the VBA :) Sadly I don't know how to convert the filetype to make it suitable to upload on YouTube as it's my first time using the record fuction :P

I also completed a Ground-type run of Ruby whilst on holiday last week, although none of it was filmed :( Was good fun though :D

I'm currently planning to do a challenge run of some sort of the 2nd generation, so any suggestions for challenging ones are welcome :D

I have chosen. I'm gonna do/try a Ultimate Poison monotype run.
I'm gonna do Firered-Gold-Ruby-Platinum.
