WHITNEY'S SUPEREST, COOLEST, AWESOMEST YOUNG TRAINER ACADEMY.
(hold on tight...it's gonna be a wild ride)

ooc thread is here

BACKGROUND INFO:
We all know Whitney - the Goldenrod gym leader. Whitney is a sweet, caring girl. She's also a girl who is always following trends - first training pokemon, and then becoming a gym leader, and now she's opened up a trainer school just like Roxanne.

The thing is, Whitney isn't interested in training tiny children who don't know a pidgey from a staryu. She's interested in training up kids who will end up winning badges and beating pokemon leagues - trainers who will be better than the trainers Roxanne's school creates.

So she's organised a Junior Trainer Competition. It's a round robin competition, where new, young trainers and their precious pokemon will be able to show off their strategy and strengths. Although she'll mostly be looking at kids who win a lot of matches, even kids who lose their fights will still be considered - they just have to show they have guts and drive.

Johto is buzzing with the news of this contest. Parents from all around the region are insisting on their children taking part. If you're young and interested in pokemon (or even possibly if you're not), you'll be there.

So, here are the questions. Why are you there? Is your ultimate goal to be the best trainer? Perhaps you just want to get closer to the cute whitney? Or maybe your parents have guilted you into going?

What pokemon are you going to take? Are you going to win your matches, or throw strategy to the wind and just hope your raw enthusiasm will be enough?

Time to find out.

PLOT:
So basically, after you impress Whitney with your battling skills/enthusiasm/cute pokemon, you'll be brought to her Young Trainer Academy. There you'll be given missions, have training sessions with Whitney and her gym assistants, and basically just hang out with each other. So when you post here, you'll either be working on a Mission or just training/hanging out in the Academy.

Missions will work like this: there'll be either an IRL time limit or a post limit, and the aim is to finish the Mission (it could be: catch a specific pokemon, or travel to a specific town, or beat a specific trainer, or maybe just go buy some of those amazing chocolate croissants because Whitney is so hungry and they are so, so, so delicious) before it runs out. If you do, hey, you might get something cool for your troubles! You'll gain points for each successful Mission, and...what happens when you get lots of points? I think you'll just have to wait and see... ;)

I can tell you this, however - a few Missions in and you'll want to have some friends among the other trainers at the academy. After all, pokemon is all about working as a team.

RULES:
* be active! this will be an active RP - because of the mission-based structure, at least one post a week (and more, if there are other people in your mission) is required.
* no godmodding (do I really need to tell you that?)
* interaction with the other characters is crucial. feel free to battle them, romance them, have a prank war, or just silently hate their guts from afar. just keep it PG-14! no sexytimes in this rp, okay?
* remember, you're junior trainers. as in, just got a starter pokemon from a prof/caught your first pokemon with the help of someone stronger/had a pokemon forcibly given to you so you can compete for this opportunity. you'll need to train your pokemon, and you'll probably be losing quite a few battles along the way.
* have fun! (the most important rule~!)
* reserving is okay, but...ultimately, pretty much uneccessary. I won't be judging the SUs until the end of the SU period, so unless you just want to let me know you'll be applying as soon as you can (which I don't mind! go ahead, it'll be nice to know people are interested in this XD), you don't really have to.
* You can post your SU either in this thread or the OOC thread, it doesn't matter. I have my eagle eye on both threads, after all XD
* the OOC thread will be quite important - missions will be handed out there, character interactions can be worked out/planned/handwaved there (like "oh hey shall we just say our characters had a fight yesterday and now they hate each other?" or "omg so my character thinks yours is cute - shall we RP out your character finding out?"), and the result of battles should be planned out there. it's awful when both participants go into a pokemon battle RP thinking they're going to win (it gets seriously awkward), so plan it out beforehand. the actual battle can be improvised, but both participants should know who's going to be the ultimate winner.

This game has now begun!

What?? Is it true??? Is The Jewel of Life back, or will she just end up leaving again? Well, the reason I kept disappearing was because I've been having hordes of computer troubles. BUT! I was soooo sick and tired of said troubles that I decided to trash my computer and get a new one. That's right- I'm back for good, HUZZAH!!

So, I'm going to re-begin my reign of awesome here on PC by entering a RP.

Name: Bianca L. Royson

Gender: Female

Age:
Fourteen, her birthday is May 27

Personality:
Bianca is the kind of girl who will try to act sweet and kind to anyone. She is of the somewhat annoying type that will be nice to you no matter how mean you are to her. As taught by her parents, Bianca will act very formal and courteous most of the time. She will act politely and try to avoid fights and arguments as much as possible. While Bianca is very smart and could easily use wit and hard logic to possibly get her way, she chooses not to even try. A very attentive listener, Bianca is usually the first to ask one of her friends why they seem so sad, and she is one of the few who will actually listen when they tell their tale of woe. Bianca enjoys helping people and gets a thrill of happiness when she is able to do something special for someone. This same attitude is extended toward pokemon as well, for Bianca is always offering to take care of her neighbors' pokemon. The final part of her kindness is Bianca's modesty. She never asks for or wants anything fancy and prefers to train weaker, simpler pokemon.

But, behind her kindness, politeness, and modesty, Bianca has a dark side. Even though she can avoid most fights and arguments, it is not uncommon for one to slip her by. At this time, Bianca becomes a vicious, merciless girl who will not give up until she is successful. In arguments, she brings out all of her evidence and logic, trying to sway the conversation in her favor in the most passive-aggressive way possible. Pokemon battles reveal this side of Bianca too. When battling pokemon, Bianca has been occasionally known to talk trash, and especially to use cunning tactics that will leave the opponent stunned. However, Bianca certainly dosn't win all of the time. When Bianca loses any kind of fight, she walks away and averts her gaze from the opponent at all costs. In this mood, she is too proud to do anything too humiliating and undignified. Getting back into her good mood again, Bianca is almost always willing to accept that she lost and not make any kind of big deal over it.

Appearance:
Standing at five feet and seven inches, Bianca is far from the shortest fourteen-year-old out there. She has a medium build, if not being a little chubby. Bianca's long and naturally curly black hair is often put up in a ponytail with a gold ribbon as her ponytail-holder. A few loos curl hang down on the sides of Bianca's face, and she has long bangs that hang down to her eyebrows. Bianca's eyes themselves are blue green and have small pupils that still stay fairly tiny even in dim light. While Bianca spends a lot of time outside, most of this time is spent in the Ilex forest and she doesn't get a lot of sun exposure. As a result, her skin is fairly pale, with a few tan splotches from when she took a nap in the dappled light of the forest. As far as female development goes, Bianca is average for a fourteen-year-old.

For clothing, Bianca prefers to wear jeans; nice jeans that her rich parents bought her with rhinestones decorating the back pockets. Her favorite shirt to wear is one that is dark green with a slight bluish tint. This shirt has shirt sleeves and is relatively low-cut, thought it dosn't reveal anything. Most of the time Bianca will wear jewelry such as charm bracelets and large gold earrings. She never leaves home without her favorite necklace, which has a gold chain with a sun stone attached to the end. Every morning, Bianca is sure to put on a lot of make-up, and her nails are always painted the same shade of green as her favorite shirt.

History: Born into the wealthy Royson family, Bianca hasn't had much struggle in her life. Her family lives in a decent sized mansion north of Azaela town that has a glorious view of the Ilex forest. For the better part of her life, Bianca had one older sister and one younger, but neither of them showed any intrest in pokemon. Before that, Bianca also had a brother, but he had departed on a pokemon journey many years earlier; he was Bianca's oldest sibling. Bianca herself was quite fond of pokemon, and she would often make trips to the slowpoke well to feed the slowpokes. After her parents saw Bianca's intrest in being with pokemon, and once she was ten, they made arrangements for a spelunker to take her out into union cave to find her first pokemon. It was an odd place to search, but that was where Bianca wanted to find a pokemon.

That trip ended up being one of the most extraordinary in Bianca's life. While wandering around Union cave, the spelunker guiding Bianca noticed a hidden opening across an underground pond. Both him and Bianca were curious as to where the cave would lead, so they headed through the pone on the explorer's feraligator to see where it led. To the surprise and amazement of both Bianca and her guide, the pair ended up in the far-off Ruins of Alph. But that wasn't the amazing part; the surprise came when they realized that they were in an area of the ruins that hadn't been discovered yet. Eager to do some more exploring, Bianca rushed into one of the ancient buildings and was faced with a messed up picture of a prehistoric pokemon. Being the clever puzzle-solver she was, Bianca placed the stones that made up the picture into thier correct places. Suddenly the ground gave way, and Bianca fell down, pulling her guide down with her. Upon reaching the lower level, the first thing the two encountered was an unown F. Bianca had decided that she had wanted a weak and common pokemon, one that no one else would want to train. Unown fit those requirements and was mysterious as well; a perfect pokemon.

It took a few hours, but Bianca eventually got back home that day with her new unown F, which she had chosen to name Fusion. Bianca's parents were surprised at her choice, but were happy for Bianca all the same. For four years Bianca has been training Fusion, and in that time she has become quite the unown trainer, despite her pokemon's very limited movepool. It didn't take long for Bianca to discover that Fusion's hidden power was of the fire type, which made it easy to beat pokemon in the Ilex forest; Bianca's favorite training ground.

Pokemon:

Species: Unown F
Name: Fusion
Gender: None, but Fusion is referred to as male
Level: 10
Ability: Levitate
Moves: hidden power (fire-type)
Personality: Fusion is the kind of pokemon who refuses to lose. Despite his limited movepool and overall weakness, he will stand up bravely to any opponent. In addition to that, Fusion lives for Bianca. He spends most of his time resting on her head and he sings out his high-pitched cries for her when she is feeling down. When Bianca goes to sleep at night, Fusion will lay flat on her face.

RP Sample:

The crisp morning air and cocky look on the face of the boy she was about to battle gave Bianca a small thrill. She knew he was in for a tough fight. A few people who were passing by stopped to see what the commotion was about, and a small group was beginning to form around the two teens. It was time for the battle to begin.

"All right," the boy called out first. "Come on out and show them your stuff, Maya!"

Proudly, the opposing trainer sent his only pokeball flying into the air. In mid-flight it released a beam of red light and a green dinosaurian pokemon materialized on the ground where the beam touched. A chikorita. Bianca smiled; a chikorita was a grass type, and grass was weak to fire. Now was her turn.

"A chikorita huh?" Bianca called mockingly. "Okay then, let's win this thing, go Fusion!"

Bianca tossed her own pokeball into the air and watched with pleasure as it revealed a small black pokemon with odd lines coming out of it and a white face with a single eye. Immidiately upon the pokemon's release, the audience- and the opponent -burst out into spontaneous laughter. They all thought that this battle was going to be a joke, but Bianca knew they were wrong.

"Ha ha ha! Okay Maya," the opposing trainer was barely able to squeeze the words out between laughs. "Ha g-go ahead and, ha ha, use razor leaf. But don't hit too hard; you might accidentally kill it! Ha ha hoo ha!"

The chikorita itself seemed cocky as well and it smugly swung its head, letting a few sharp leaves materialize and speed toward Fusion. But as Bianca knew, her pokemon's safety was no laughing matter.

"Make him eat those words, Fusion! Move upward to dodge, and then go ahead with hidden power."

Empowered by a rush of anger, the unown let out a small cry as he hovered high above the leaves' path and sent out a pulse of bright green and white balls of light. Too stunned to move, the chikorita stared dumbfounded as the light spheres blasted into her and sent her rolling backward. Satisfied with what he had done, Fusion hovered back down to the ground, letting out an angry sounding cry of 'nown'. As abrubtly as it had started, the laughter stopped. Chikorita had taken a lot of damage.

"Whaaaat? How did that happen? Maya, get back up and tackle that thing! Send it flying all the way to the Sinnoh region."

Once again determined, the chikorita stood up and began charging toward Fusion at a decent speed. Bianca only needed to smile; this was just too easy. Without need for a command, Fusion levitated over Maya's head and returned close to the groud a good ten feet away. Once again he released a blast of hidden power and once again the confused chikorita recieved massive damage. The type advantage was overwhelming. But chikorita was far from giving up.

The boy across the battlefield shouted a command at his chikorita, but she completely ignored him. She. Was. Going. To. Destroy. That. Unown. Fuming with rage, Maya absorbed sunlight at a far more rapid rate than any normal pokemon would and was ready for solarbeam bafore anyone could bat an eyelid. Even her trainer looked at the following scene wide-eyed, for the chikorita had never been able to use solarbeam before. This time, it was Fusion who was caught off gaurd. Solarbeam's power sent him crashing into a nearby tree, barely holding on to consiousness.

"Come on Fusion, you can't faint after just one attack! Finish this!"

Already the opponent was counting his wins, completely oblivious to the fact that Fusion was not fainted, and that this little unown was not going to lose. Letting out a blood-curdling screech, the symbol pokemon charged at chikorita before stopping abrubtly and letting the hidden power spheres continue with his momentum. Maya screamed in pain as the orbs hit her with more power than ever before and after one last, desperate struggle, she passed out.

"Nice work Fusion. I would return you to your pokeball, but you probably want to rest on my head don't you."

Seeming to understand what his trainer had said, Fusion gave an affirmative cry and floated up above his trainer and lay flat in her hair. Meanwhile, the defeated trainer returned his chikorita with a blank stare and the surrounding audience began to disband while gossiping in whispers. They understood now. Unown were limited in abilities, but as Bianca knew, they were not laughingstocks.

I have a general question for this RP. Are we able to catch random Pokemon while in it?

Name: Frank Carter

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Personality: Frank is often described as highly charismatic. To the point it seems excessive. He will often be seen as a bumbling fool, usually in an attempt to spice up a poor situation. This is oftentimes seen as both a positive and a negative aspect for him. Positive in the way he is very efficient in boosting moral, both on the battle field or otherwise. Negative in that many who do not know him, look down upon him. Besides his social attitudes, Frank is seen as intelligent to a degree. He is well versed, has good diction and enjoys a good book from time to time. However a Pokemon battle is always preferable in every situation.

Toward strategy and subtlety, it can almost appear Frank lacks both. He is extremely impulsive, however while he makes choices almost immediately, he isn't blind to thinking about harder ones. A major reason Frank usually takes blame for a situation he never has any part to. He prefers to think slowly while not under pressure and as such, plans before a battle rather then within one.

While his charisma does come with a price, Frank is very opinionated. To the point he is willing to wound himself (figuratively not literally) to win an argument. This only occurs when the argument is about something trivial, and not important. The latter he'd ironically settle with a Pokemon battle.

Appearance: Frank makes necessity almost his religion in appearance. Finely cropped blond hair is combed to one side of his head. Frank has a slimline face with slightly pronounced cheekbones, and eyebrows. His eyes are sunken, with long bags to compliment them. The colors of which are a dark hazel which often appear crimson in the correct light. A thin jaw and slight under bite complete the ensemble that is his face. To his build, Frank is slim and slightly short.

For clothing Frank makes simplicity his entire mission. He wears a orange cheap worn cotton short sleeved button down shirt. The top two buttons of the shirt are torn off, and he rarely unbuttons the rest of them. Over this he wears a broken in Grey vest, with two pockets on both sides of the zipper. For pants he wears new black Cargo pants, where the bottom parts of the shirt can be seen extending over his pockets. For shoes he wears maroon high tops. Frank does keep his clothing in very good condition and usually wears some derivative of the outfit. Give or take a different pair of pants or a shirt.

History:
Living in Cherrygrove for his entire life Frank only repeated one word continuously. "Boredom". Given the simplistic fishing town it was, there wasn't anything better to do then sit by the sea and fish. Given this, he would often try to live by experience. Usually by dangerously diving from the top of a high cliff into almost shallow water. Usually saved by both dumb luck and simplistic ingenuity.

Getting into Pokemon was actually something his Parents attempted in order to quell his reckless lifestyle. Likely believing that he would learn responsibility by trying not to endanger the life of another. In this regard, they gave him a Pidgey one of the Fishermen almost euthanized for poking into a fish barrel. However, instead of quelling a rebellious attitude, his Pidgey merely gave him a funnel. He nicknamed his companion, "Cawdor" and took to making up new factors for a Pokemon battle. Always with different types and different terrains for him to exploit. The most reoccurring strategy Frank uses would be ordering Cawdor to fly in an almost cyclone around the opponent, and then while confused pecking the back of the head from behind.

Pokemon:
Species: Pidgey
Name: Cawdor
Gender: Male
Level: 9
Ability: Keen Eye
Moves: Gust, Peck, Sand Attack, Quick Attack
Personality: While not as reckless as his master, Cawdor is still just as impulsive as him. But, with this comes his more strategical side, as Cawdor makes keen choices correctly in the nick of time. Always leaving his master's beck and call open for a quick attack.

* RP Sample:
Cawdor didn't usually tug on Frank's sleeve. Usually when the Trainer allowed his companion to ride on his shoulder, Cawdor remained purely the watchdog. Always observing, and subservient to his master's wishes. It was an act that often sent shudders down his spine and caused his attention to perk up.

A trainer stood at the other side of a brook. Staring him down with bright green eyes, and a growling Houndour at his side. The trainer was a short boy with brown hair hidden underneath a faded yellow cap. Frank didn't need to ask twice, and usually preferred to say "Screw subtlety." Plus attacking first would often give him an advantage.

Houndour ran to the edge of the stream, very alert at first. He barked at Cawdor, causing the Pidgey to falter in his course. Almost knocking into a tree accidentally. Frank cackled loudly.

"Lets see if the wind is in my favor." He said across to the trainer. He stood emotionless on the other side of the stream, causing Frank's eyebrow to slightly raise. In the meantime, the Houndour went in to attack Cawdor, now landed on the ground.

The dog-like Pokemon lunged at the bird, causing it to sidestep to the side slightly. Once the dog was a mere split second away from the bird Frank shouted.

"Send up a gust toward it." Cawdor complied, causing a large amount of air to lift the Houndour off the ground and slide into a rock. The dog yelped slightly, but recovered and stood back up. The Houndour's eyes turned scarlet, and a fiery ember blasted out of it's mouth. Unfortunately for Cawdor, attacking him directly.

The cindered bird landed directly into the stream, but shook off some of the fire damage. Cawdor looked toward Frank for a split second and in a synchronized motion, nodded. The Pidgey flew up only a few feet into the air and began to circle around the dog. Appearing like a buzzard in the light, the Dog felt quickly confused to the recent strategy. Without and warning the bird pounced on the dog's head, causing a sharp sense of pain and knocking him out.

The Houndour disappeared in a great flash of red light. Frank stepped over the brook and felt the familiar prick of Cawdor's talons on his shoulder. He whistled and felt a spring in his step as he walked past the beaten trainer.

@The Jewel Of Life: whoa, an Unown! cool choice :D I was gonna fill you in on the pokemon info, but it looks like you got the sample app to work

@Scales: Yeah, of course! When you're not doing Missions, you're able to train the pokemon you have, or go catch other pokemon, or battle local trainers - all sorts of things :) interesting character, btw!

@Killeh: looks good so far, can't wait to see the rest of it :D reserves are totally acceptable, but I won't be judging the applications until the SU period is over, so it's not really necessary to reserve.

I like the premise, but I am displeased with the lack of information. Where is this academy? Why did Whitney open it? How are we to be graded? Bell Curve? How big is the academy? Who's funding this? The Elite 4? The unnamed Government of the Unnamed nation of the Pokemon World? QUESTION MARK???

Seriously though, I'd appreciate knowing a bit more. I am signing up anyways though because it sounds fun!

* Name: Thomas Fernto Mamoru: Tom
* Gender: Male
* Age: 14
* Personality: Thomas is a bit odd. Bold is the better word. He is very outgoing and is willing to do extravagant things to make a point. He is an excellent debater and can reason easily with people. He is very easy to talk to and will talk about almost anything, even awkward things. Tom is very nice in the fact that whenever he sees somebody with a problem he tries to help them, whether it be opening a door or helping them with a social issue. Because of this Thomas is often taken advantage of, but he doesn't mind. Tom can easily repair machinery such as computers, engines, and televisions. Tom's hobbies include running, playing video games (who doesn't enjoy that?), writing, and reading. His favorite peice of literature is "The Hunting of the Snark" by Lewis Carroll.
* Appearance: LINK: http://selvix.deviantart.com/art/Pokemon-Trainer-Gad-76049014
* History: Tom was born in a small mountain village a few miles north of Mt. Silver. The only things in the community besides a few cottages were the Grocery Store, the School, and the Library. His town wasn't really named, it was just a place hikers passed through every once in a while. His parents had to move when he was 6 to Goldenrod. The reason being was that his father had just got a job at Goldenrod City as a Electrician. Tom was around electronics most of his life and at the age of 9 he could tear down and reassemble a computer. At 10 Tom decided he wanted a Pokemon. His father agreed but Tom would have to catch and take care of it. Thomas's Father had kept a Rotom with him his entire life who helped with his job. This was the reason Tom wanted a Pokemon after seeing his father's bond with Rotom. So with some money his dad gave him he bought a few Pokeballs he walked down to Route 34 to search. After several failed attempts of trying to catch Pidgey and Ditto, Tom saw a small strange rock over in the thicket. Only it wasn't a rock, it was an egg. It's smooth shell felt like leather and was a pastel white with red speckles. Thomas decided to hatch this egg. It was much easier to catch anyways. A few months later the egg hatched into a newborn Charmander. Thomas and his parents were confused. Charmanders weren't around in their neck of the woods, so it was nearly impossible to find a Charmander egg. Tom was happy anyways, and so was the little creature. Unbeknownst to Thomas, the egg was from a daycare. After being laid by his parents, the egg rolled away when a Pidgeot attacked them. Thomas kept his part time job as an Electrician's Aid (He helped his father) and often brought Charmander with him. At the age of 14, Thomas saw a crowd forming around the Local gym. The rest is history.
* Pokemon:

Charmander

LVL 10 (I chose ten because it means Tom did a little training with him, but didn't go overboard)
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Blaze

Moveset:
Growl
Scratch
Ember
Heatwave (Will only use in Emergencies or when extremely angry. Doesn't usually use it in battle)

Charmander is fun loving but philosophical. He will often just stare into empty space. Charmander loves Tom, and tries to spend as much time as possible with him. He often tries to walk into the bathroom with Thomas because he can't stand being apart. Charmander enjoys clinging to Tom's leg as a security blanket. Tom doesn't mind, but it is annoying at times. Charmander will often show affection to people Tom shows affection to, but when meeting somebody for the first time he will become a bit shy. Charmander enjoys eating Potato Chips and his favorite game to play with Tom is Hide and Seek. Tom enjoys having Charmander sleep in bed with him because his tail acts as a nightlight.

* RP Sample: Alrighty, here we go!

Tom groggily woke up. He turned over to the small green symbols on his alarm clock which read 5:30. Charmander was still sleeping happily, curled in a warm ball on Tom's lap. Thomas looked outside of his small window to see that it was still dark out. He sighed. No decent human being should wake up this early. His parents were able to wake up later than him. But he supposed it was worth it. Whitney must've known what she was doing. Tom turned on his bedside lamp and then put on his glasses.

Charmander was unaware of Tom's awakening, and continued to snooze. It looked very cozy and contempt, as if this could be the only thing it ever had to do in life.

"Charmander," Tom said in a hushed tone tapping the Pokemon "Charmander, wake up."

Charmander slowly rose in a daze. It looked at the clock as well and fell back to sleep immediately.

"Fine you can have a few more minutes, but we need to hurry." Tom got out of bed and threw on a pair of cargo pants and a t-shirt. He took another peek outside. The moon hung low in the sky, but still seemed small. After packing his bag he gave Charmander a quick shake. The poor confused creature waddled out of the bed and hopped onto the floor.

"Char?"

"Yep, it's today Charmander."

They walked down a very small flight of stairs into the Kitchen. Tom's parents were hardly up for the occasion. His father and mother were running on nothing but coffee and sugar. Tom couldn't help but agree. Charmander tried to reach up for the coffee pot too. "Well good luck!" His mom said enthusiastically. The tiredness of the moment was pressing. Tom felt like he could just collapse to the floor then and there. He felt even worse for his parents, who felt like they had to do it even thought they didn't. Goldenrod City was alot like most large cities in the fact that nobody really drove: they just walked everywhere. Tom was led to the door.

"Are you sure you want to walk?" His father asked.

"Yeah... Besides, it'll help us wake up."

The duo set off into the night city. The traffic was jammed and the stars were blurred by the brown light pollution. Despite it being fairly early in the morning the city was still bustling with life. As they walked through thick crowds Charmander clung to Tom's leg. Up ahead they saw it. The small warehouse with a sign in a crazy font reading "WHITNEY'S YOUNG TRAINER ACADEMY"

@ChrisTom: lmfao those are good questions! let's see...

1) the academy is in Goldenrod, because...well, that's where Whitney is. She can't be gallivanting off to the other side of Johto every day to teach the kids.

2) because teaching is the trendy thing to do. It's how she got into pokemon, and how she got into this as well - if it makes Roxanne cool, it will surely make her cool as well. Yes that's awful logic, but haha this is Whitney we're talking about here.

3) peeps will be graded on how (or even if) they complete the Missions, and there will be battles between the trainers at regular intervals to see how they've been training. specifically how she'll be grading the kids (aka what gets what amount of ~*~points~*~, and what on earth these mysterious points are for), is for her to know and for everyone else to fret over.

4) it's fairly small! Although Whitney wanted to go all out and train a gazillion newbies, her gym assistants (or whatever you call the other peeps you battle at gyms) managed to convince her that it would be easier (and cooler~*~!) to just train a handful of kids. so it's basically only the people who are actually playing, although if you feel like referring to some other NPC kids at the academy for whatever reason, it's totally okay.

5) man IDK. why would it need funding? all they really need is a an empty building and some time, and those are easy enough to find in Goldenrod. but uhhh if it's important to you, we can say the Elite Four decided this crazy idea would at least stop Whitney from trying to design them a set of colour co-ordinated battle outfits, and so unanimously decided to give it all their support. (seriously, those outfits? awful.)

so yeah! I think I covered everything you asked, but if I missed something, totally feel free to idk ask again or point it out or something.

also your SU is looking awesome so far - seems like an interesting character :)

This looks interesting. I may need to create some spare time for this. I will however be unable to add an SU until at least later today and more likely later this week. Ah well. I will get around to it.

Wooper, nicknamed Wally.
Level: 9

Water Pulse | Mud Shot
Return | ------

RP Sample:

Natalie stared up at the furiously burning sun, squinting her eyes. She looked down at her blue companion, a Wooper named Wally. He was swimming in the clear blue lake that faded out miles into the distance. It was absolutely beautiful outside.

Off in the distance Natalie heard the howl of a Pokémon. Wally, being the curious Pokémon he is, started swimming toward the noise. Natalie has always been very patient with Wally's little adventures and followed him wherever he happened to want to be. Soon Wally made it to the scene of the howl. Two trainers had been battling, and the Pokémon that howled was a Shinx, who had just beaten a Sandshrew.

The Sandshrew's owner quickly retrieved the fainted Pokémon and ran off, mumbling something about type advantages. The kid who owned the Shinx was smirking and rubbing behind his Pokémon's ears. His brown hair was covering most of his face, so Natalie couldn't see his eyes.

"Let's battle!" The kid said to Natalie. She was surprised that he would be so eager for a battle, but Natalie was always at the ready.
"Come on Wally!" Natalie called out. Wooper charged out of the water and shook of the excess moisture. "Use Mud Shot!"

Wally quickly lobbed a ball of mud at the Shinx.
And then the world exploded. WILL CONTINUE LATER

just keep it PG-17! no sexytimes in this rp, okay?

Lol... I'm so putting that quote in my signature.

* Name: Alecia Roke

* Gender: Female
* Age: 12 (Sorry, it's a bit young, but otherwise it doesn't fit my other uses for this character)

* Personality: Alecia is a happy go lucky type of person with minimal triggers. She is difficult to upset, and fairly mild when she is upset. She is good at masking her emotions, and it is rarely apparent she is anything but happy. She has a tendency to hold grudges, but never really do anything about them. She is quite adventurous(No, not like that), willing to brave most challenges without the bat of an eyelash. She has no complex about outdoing men; rather, she has a complex about outdoing everyone. She keeps a little book with all the people who have ever wronged her so if she ever snaps, she knows who to kill first.

* Appearance:
Alecia stands about 5'1" tall. Her stomach is somewhat less than flat, and she has a little bit of excess body fat.She has long black hair with purple highlights. Her hair is wavy and falls down just slightly below her shoulders. He eyes a a pale green.

Her typical outfit is a t-shirt, with shorts that fall just below her knees. Alecia wears a pair of sunglasses with purple lenses, and has a necklace around her neck with a Wabbuffet pendant.

* History: Alecia grew up as a typical girl in goldenrod. She often spent days watching gym trainers in the goldenrod gym battle in awe. On her twelfth birthday, she was given some money to buy what she wanted from the department store. Recently, a group of pokemon salesmen had setup shop outside the Goldenrod department store. When Alecia went to buy pokemon, she found that of all the rare pokemon they had, the only one she could afford was a tiny Wynaut, which was cheap because Wynaut can't actually directly attack.

When she showed her parents the Wynaut, they were surprised and innitially though that she couldn't have a pokemon. After much heated debate, her parents allowed her to keep the Wynaut. Not long after Whitney's trainer school had opened up, so naturally Alecia tried to join!

We now have an OOC thread! It's over here, so feel free to check that out. At the moment it's just keeping track of who has applied and reserved, as well as rehashing the plot and rules.

Keep posting your SUs here, as the ooc thread will be used more for keeping everyone up to date with missions and things, and also just funtimes discussions :)

Oh, and we now also have a deadline. SUs will need to be posted by midday on Friday, the 7th of May (so this Friday). Keep in mind that I'm referring to GMT+10 time when I say that, so you'll want to check an online clock or something to see what day/time that will be for you.

People who have reserved: if you can't post your SU by then, PM me and we might be able to work out some kind of extension. Although I'd prefer it if you could just post it in time.

Everyone who's posted SUs so far: looking good! interesting pokemon choices, and I'm really enjoying the rp samples so far :D

Everyone who's reserved: can't wait to see what you guys come up with! :D

@Megaman: that's cool, just post it whenever you're done with it :) alternatively, you can post what you've got so far and just edit your post to finish it. A few people upthread have done that.

Name: Darin Roschel

Gender:
Male

Age: Fifteen

Personality: Darin is not very masculine. He considers cleanliness and attractiveness to be important. Darin is a very social creature, and thrives with the company of others, most often females. He enjoys the emotional freedom they offer more often than males do. Affectionate and sweet, he easily grows attached to anyone who gives him the chance. His mind works in a linear, mathematical fashion, suggesting that arithmetic, physics, and computer hacking are among his strengths. While he is not necessarily humble, he is more level headed and aware of his limitations. Whether he embraces them or not is irrelevant. Music is one of his favorite parts of life, and he works endlessly to learn to play all the instruments he can get his hands on. Thus far he has learned the guitar in acoustic and electric, the drums, keyboard, harp, piano, bass, and violin.

It is no secret that Darin adores Pokemon. He wants to live up to his brother's reputation as a great trainer and impress his parents with mad skills. Whether it will work out or not, he has no idea. And he may even decide that he doesn't want to train forever. He thinks perhaps he will become a coordinator, or a breeder later on. But for now he just wants to expand his knowledge of Pokemon and their tendencies, and broaden his horizon.

Appearance:
Darin stands at six feet and an inch, not as impressive as the other males of his family, but still above average. Besides that, he may grow another few inches, thus catching up to them. He isn't as broad as the others, either, which brings him closer to resembling his sister. That's not to say he isn't well-muscled; his muscles are just small. Naturally, his hair is a dirty blonde color, but he dyes it black and adds red when he gets the urge. If he allows it to do whatever it wishes it'll lie in messy waves, but he straightens it to perfection. His large blue eyes are the essence of innocence, and are expressive almost to the point that he doesn't even need to speak. Darin's bottom lip is pierced in the snakebite fashion, as is his left eyebrow. A darker complexion along with a slight accent he gets when angry or excited suggest an Italian heritage.

Darin's favorite shirt is black and white horizontally striped and form fitting. With it he wears studded belts and jeans tight enough to belong to his older sister. She teases him ceaselessly for it, but he can't be convinced to change his ways. For cold weather he owns a black jacket. Red lettering across the front reads "Smile! =D."

Red high top Converse are the norm as far as shoes go, with large smilie faces on the rubber toes of both shoes.

History: Darin was one of four children born to Artur and Delilah Roschel. For the first six years of his life, Darin and his family lived in Violet City. Life there was unremarkable, with his mother working at the Pokemart, and his father an adviser for the gym leader Falkner. Being an ex-trainer himself, he gave the young leader tips on how to improve his strategy and which additions to his team he ought to make. After stepping in for Falkner on a day when he was sick, he remembered his passion for Pokemon, and decided to move to Blackthorn City and begin training under Clair. His children all disliked the small town, but they tried to stomach it for their father, as they had never seen him so happy. Their mother opened her own shop where she sold remedies for the many problems that afflict humans and their Pokemon at as low a cost as she could; there was great money in working with Clair, so the family was in no danger of going under.

Darin and his sister Fyora began his education. Korbin and Esthin had already begun school in Violet City, but had not finished. Therefore they were aghast to discover the attendance at Blackthorn Academy was so small, they were in the same class as their younger brother and sister. Fyora, on the other hand, was thrilled. She elected to sit next to Korbin, always having looked up to him, and thrived with his direction where the teacher's failed. Darin was indifferent to the situation, as he had never been close to his brothers. He was just happy that he was able to be in the same class with Fyora, whom he had always been close to.

When they were thirteen, a trainer stopped at their mother's shop with a clutch of four eggs that one of his Pokemon, he did not say what species, had laid. He seemed reluctant to part with them, but said that there had been too many times on the Ice Path when he had been afraid he would drop them, resulting in them breaking, extinguishing the lives of the developing embryos. If that was any indication of how the trip down the mountain would be, he did not want to risk it. Sympathetic to the young man, their mother awarded her daughter and sons each with one of the eggs with instructions to be as careful with them as they would if it was their own child. Darin heeded this as if it were the law and the entire planet would implode if he did not.

Soon after this his parents got word of Whitney's trainer school in Goldenrod. It wasn't too far for him to attend, and they knew his aspirations to learn more about training and Pokemon in general. For his fifteenth birthday they surprised him with a Sentret, which he named Rodney despite it being female, and the news that he would be allowed to attend the school.

Pokemon: Rodney is a female Sentret given to Darin as a present for his fifteenth birthday. She is far from angry about her name. In fact, she likes the sound of it. She's only at level four, having been practically freshly caught and not trained much since, but she's willing to learn. Her ability is Keen Eye, and she uses it to its fullest potential. Her eyesight is fantastic as a result. Being practically a baby, all she knows is Scratch, Foresight, and Defense Curl. She and Darin aren't very well acquainted yet, but she has taken an immediate liking to him.

RP Sample:
"Go on, open it," Darin's older brother urged. He grinned excitedly and began to peel the green and blue birthday paper off of the small box that his parents had set down in front of him. The bow, he pulled off of the paper and set atop his head happily.

"You're such a nerd," his sister said with a giggle. "I may be," he replied, "but so are you." With that he threw the removed paper into her lap and pried open the box. Inside was a single, completely plain Pokeball. With wide blue eyes he took it out of the box.

"Is it mine? Really?"

His mother laughed and nodded. "Of course. We had Korbin catch it before he came, so it's still pretty wild. But it's all yours. All we can tell you about it is that its female."

Practically bursting with anticipation, Darin pressed the center button on the ball and released his very first Pokemon onto the Roschel dining room table. A small, fluffy raccoon-like Pokemon appeared and blinked up at Darin curiously. It was obviously tamer than most wild Pokemon, which suggested that Korbin had battled with it just a little bit to soften it up for him, but he didn't mind. The fact was, it was his, and no one else's. "Thank you," he said enthusiastically, both to his parents and his oldest brother. Korbin produced a similar Pokeball from his pocket.

"I caught a lot of Pokemon that I've never used," he said. "This is one of them. Would you like to take her outside and have a quick spar, so you can get a feel for her?"

Darin nodded energetically and ran outside ahead of everyone else, his Sentret bounding along behind him. When he had covered a fair distance from the house he turned around and pointed dramatically.

"Rodney, get out there!"

Korbin laughed aloud. "You named her Rodney?"

"Yes, I did," Darin affirmed. "And I think she likes it."

With a shrug Korbin sent out his battler, a little Zigzagoon that he addressed as Coon. "Go first, little brother. Do your worst. Rodney knows Scratch, Defense Curl, and Foresight."

Darin considered his first move carefully. Finally, he said "Rodney, Defense Curl!"

Rodney curled into a tiny ball, making her less susceptible to attack.

"Good choice," Korbin commented. "But you'll want to be careful when you're on the defense. Coon, use Growl."

Coon laid his ears back and growled low, making Rodney shiver with fear. She uncurled a bit and awaited next orders. "Scratch."

She obeyed immediately, rushing at Coon with her paws outstretched and claws extended. Coon danced out of the way easily, his short brushy tail wagging happily. Building on that, Korbin instructed him to use Tail Whip. Coon swatted Rodney several times with his tail, making her stumble somewhat. That left her vulnerable to the Tackle that Coon then delivered.

"Don't give up!" Darin urged. "Scratch again."

Rodney grasped Coon with one paw and Scratched him repeatedly with the other. Coon howled in pain and jumped away, shaking himself. He then turned on her and hit her with another Tackle. She was forced backwards several feet. Though she managed to keep her feet, she was panting and somewhat bruised.

After a moment of consideration Darin gave the final order. "Back down, Rodney. Let them have this one."

Korbin smiled proudly. "Good move, kid. Always know when to surrender. Especially for Rodney's first battle, you don't want her run into the ground. It'll give battling a bad connotation in her mind, and that wouldn't be good. It could ruin her capabilities for the rest of her life."

With a nod, Darin knelt down and Rodney hopped back to him. She purred as he scratched her ears and made sure that she wasn't all that seriously hurt. As it turned out she had a few bruises but she wouldn't even be affected by them. Korbin recalled Coon and came over. "How is she?"

"She'll be okay," he answered. He returned Rodney to her ball and stood. "How did I do?"

Korbin ruffled Darin's hair, something that he knew got on his nerves. Darin groaned and ducked away from his reach. "Well," he answered. "You need practice and you need to work with her, but you've got talent." Darin grinned in response, more thrilled than he let on by his older brother's acceptance.

Name:
Kosh Hale

Gender:

Female

Age:
15

Personality:
Kosh is a daydreamer in every sense of the word. The world is her storybook, and nothing is impossible if she can imagine it. This is partly a side-effect of being an only child, and partly Kosh's attempt to escape the rather unappealing ideals of her mother—become a wife, then a mother, then a grandmother. Kosh loves boys, particularly white knights and handsome samurai, but she absolutely cannot stand the idea of being tied down and expected to clean house for some man-- and eventually children-- for the rest of her life. Her interactions with people aren't limited per se, as she has lived near the city her entire life, but she does tend to act a bit awkward with some people due to her habit of turning everything into a fantasy of some sort.

Despite this, Kosh has made friends with others, though typically these are trainers passing through and most leave soon after adjusting to Kosh's crazy ways. In this way Kosh has gotten to see a lot of pokemon, and considers herself somewhat knowledgeable in this department, though she is severely limited as far as knowledge of move sets and such goes. Whenever she meets a new pokemon, Kosh finds a way to interject them into her fantasy world, and those she doesn't meet through trainers, she sees at the Daycare near her home. The old man and woman are very nice to her and allow her to come look at all the pokemon, and she is in turn very polite to them and has developed a deep respect for the elderly of the world.

Kosh is very kind to others, wanting nothing more than to make friends with passerbys, though many times her daydreams will overlap into her speech, leaving people wondering what the heck she's talking about. This kindness, however, can switch easily into distrust and hatred; the moment someone disses or upsets one of Kosh's self-proclaimed friends, said disser automatically becomes "evil" in Kosh's mind. This can take on many forms, but typically transforms the person into an evil wizard or something of the like in Kosh mind. Basically, if you're Kosh's friend, she's got your back (in a weird, Kosh sort of way). Pokemon are just as much friends or foe in Kosh's mind as humans, and as far as Kosh is concerned, Pip and Kipper articulate perfectly well through nods and squawks. They are her two best friends in the entire world, and anything that hurts them without good reason is on the dark side.

Appearance:
Body:
Kosh is thin. Her mother has always prided herself on planning the family's diet to be as nutritious as possible, additionally insisting that the family be vegetarians. A nutritious diet coupled with constant bike riding and playing has made Kosh into a gorgeous, thin teenager, though she isn't very developed in the breasts or hips, something that tends to bother her mother more than Kosh. Kosh has blond hair with pink streaks, something she has always giddily related to Whitney's own pink locks. Straightened, it falls to her butt, but this is only for special occasions, and most of the time it stays in it's curly state, falling to the middle of Kosh's back and held back from her face by a large pink ribbon, matching the streaks in her hair. Kosh's eyes are gold, and her skin is a deep tan from constant outdoor play. Her legs are long, taking up half of her body, which stands 5'7 total without shoes.

Clothing:
Kosh's mother's desire for her to attract a husband has led Kosh's wardrobe to be on the far end of the girly spectrum. Kosh had a pair of play jeans her mother allowed her to wear only in the backyard, but after Kosh had run off unattended into town one day in the jeans, Kosh's mother had become mortified, broke down, and bought Kosh a stylish pair that accentuated Kosh's girlish figures (hidden as they were), with pink ribbons threaded through the back pockets and down the backs of the legs. Kosh usually pairs these with with equally-stylish halter tops and linen wedge sandals or (for training) pastel t-shirts, white sneakers with light pink stripes and white heel-socks. When not in jeans, Kosh sports a light pink dress , made of a cotton fabric. The dress seems normal enough, besides the small band of white lace bordering the bottom and the strip of satin across the middle, but when Kosh turns around one can see the ribbon across her center starting at the top of her shoulders and threading down the back of the dress to wrap around her midsection and end in an elaborate bow. She usually wears the earlier-mentioned wedge sandals with this dress.

History:
Kosh has lived with her mother and father in their house along Route 34 for as long as she can remember. Her father is a technician, working as maintenance for the radio station in Goldenrod, and she has been to the city almost every day since she was old enough to walk, following her father to work and spending the rest of the day wandering the town with her mother or (when she got a bit older) solo. For her tenth birthday she got a bike from her parents, which she named Lance and took to riding throughout Goldenrod at high speeds as if she was on a rapidash, prompting unhappy looks from the Policemen along the walkways.

Kosh has always admired Whitney from afar, sometimes parking her "steed" outside the gym and stealing peeks inside at the battles raging. Kosh is amazed by how Whitney's pokemon aren't just strong, but adorable as well, and is almost positive that Whitney is a lunar-princess-warrior of some sort, sent to earth to spread her beauty, knowledge, and power throughout the people. The first time she'd seen Whitney's miltank use Rollout to take down a trainer's pokemon, Kosh had been so amazed she replayed the scene over and over in her head for hours. When she'd gotten home she tried acting out the action on the family pet—a grouchy old Persian—but the meanie had hopped up out of her range and into the trees to pout.

Kosh's father works long hours, and her mother is a bit too traditional for Kosh's taste, taking every chance she can to teach Kosh about being a housewife and mother. Kosh couldn't care less, and so she took to escaping from the house as often as possible, riding up into Goldenrod and playing around the national park, or down into Ilex to dodge dragonite-trees with her bike and have make-believe battles with the metapod she found in the bushes. Once she received Pip and Kipper, these make-believe battles became real, but Lance was quickly abandoned for the opportunity to ride about on Kosh's new steed at even higher speeds—something that still gets Kosh unhappy looks from Policemen.

Pokemon:
Species:
Doduo

Name:
Pip (left) and Kipper (right)

Gender:

Male

Level:

10

Ability:

Early Bird

Moves
:
Peck, Quick Attack, Growl, Rage

Personality:
Both Pip and Kipper adore Kosh and love the fact that she considers them her closest friends. They don't mind her riding on their backs at all, and even make a habit of always trying to go faster than they've ever gone before to impress her. As far as separate personalities go, Pip is more the daydreamer and Kipper is more of the level-headed one of the team. Pip usually gets caught up in whatever story Kosh is cooking up, whilst more often than not Kipper will be the one rolling his eyes at the two and dragging them off to train. In contrast, Kipper is more easily caught up by woman, oftentimes falling head-over-heels for the prettiest pokemon in the room, whilst Kosh will just as easily fall for the handsomest male. Pip is usually left wondering what the heck the two are so caught up over, doing his best to drag the duo off to defeat the next "villain" (aka innocent metapod sleeping in the bushes of the Ilex Forest). In this way, Pip and Kipper are pretty good anchors for Kosh's somewhat spastic personality.
