I really can't stand Daniel Craig.

YOU. GET OFF MY INTERNET.

And there is a good movie with Will Ferrel in it: Stranger Than Fiction. Watching it is like watching Jim Carey in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for the first time. You realize that an annoying comedy movie actor can actually act seriously and make you like them, even if only in one movie.

I liked Mark Walhberg so much more than Will Ferrell in The Other Guys. Mainly due to his underplaying opposite the great over-actor, but still.

Speaking of Mark Wahlberg, does anyone else feel that in The Fighter, Christian Bale was really the star and not Wahlberg himself?

I had a chance to meet Christian Bale once. Really, just to get something autographed. It was at one of those nerd conventions many years ago, just before his first Batman movie, I think. There was some raffle thing and I won one of the tickets, but I didn't know who he was at the time so I gave the ticket to some people I just met and they flipped their pancakes at the chance.

Japanese DCC

Seeing as we don't want to sap all the activity into this thread again, here's some revisions to the rules. While you SHOULD be reading these, the tl;dr is that it's generally the same, but we're shifting discussion away from currently airing anime.

  1. This is a general discussion thread for anime, manga, tokusatsu, and J-drama.
  2. All J-E Rules still apply.
  3. Keep discussion about certain series in their respective threads if they have one. Members are encouraged to make threads for specific series, even if not currently airing.
  4. Spoilers should be put in

Whooooooooo, it lives again. Nice set of rules.

Though I just created the OP for Amagami SS+ before reading this and I guess it might not count as a current series since it's a sequel? XD Maybe we should differentiate into shows split up into non-consecutive cours (Gundam 00, Arakawa Under the Bridge, and Fate/Zero would be examples from recent years) and shows that are sequels but have had a significant time between the first and second seasons (1+ years sounds good). Just making sure what to do so I don't make any unnecessary individual threads in the future.

oops, typoed there, meant to have current shows count shows that have direct sequels.

For simplicity sake, using digimon as an example
Digimon Adventure & Adventure 02 counts as a direct sequel.
Digimon Tamers count as a separate series for the sake of sequels because it's a standalone.
Same on Frontier and Savers.
All Xros Wars series count as the same series.

LOL at Harlequin and Scarf. I'm sorry, Daniel Craig has annoyed me ever since he first being James Bond and now when I see his face all I can think of it leather and I find that irritating while I'm trying to watch someone act.

Gotcha, makes sense now.

I watched Kill Me Baby today, or, rather, the first five or six minutes. I think I set a new record for the fastest I've ever dropped an anime. Between the non-humorous humor, depressingly ugly art, and zero effort to adapt 4koma material to anime pacing, it was horribad.

And to top it off, it also has the most ear-destroyingly terrible OP of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I know it should be on me to make the OP since I was the first to watch it, but I can't expose other people to this in good conscience, hah.

I didn't hate it.....but I did only laugh at the ending. That dance, ha.

As for the animation, JC Staff have over 9000 shows this season and well this was never going to be a massive money maker for them so it's no surprise they've spent time elsewhere. Chibi Suou Pavlichenko anime only character.....voiced by Rie....I guess some hardcores will buy just for that.

That dance is legitimately funny and the ED song is pretty catchy, too. Just, with JC Staff's perpetually-full plate, I just wonder how some of this stuff gets greenlit for an anime adaptation. Spreading risk around? I dunno.

It could have been much better if the source material was just inspiration rather than used like a storyboard to rigidly follow here. I'm not an expert on 4koma adaptations, but I don't think I've ever seen one where it literally felt like a series of panels one after another. It was just so lifeless.

I also watched Recorder to Randoseru, which I didn't realize was going to be broken into three minute episodes. Imagine my surprise when the end credits began playing at 2:30 into the show. It was.......................eh. Since it's not full length, I'll have to go somewhere else for my seasonal dose of creepy awkward "THIS is the actual premise?" programming, so I guess I'll be picking the show up about the guy that lives with the three girls or whatever it is.

Does anyone know some good samurai/ninja movies? I've seen the Last Samurai and 13 Assassins, so something like those would be great.

Seven Samurai seems to be the definitive one. I'm not a massive fan of it, but it certainly has its merits and nearly every samurai film to come after it has been influenced by it in some way.

I would say Ninja Assassin. I found it to have an awesome storyline and it was rather thrilling. I loved it.

This thing where we just quote each other's posts in ever-increasing font sizes has to become a C&M trope. If I could, I'd so ban it everywhere else apart from C&M.

Anyhoo, I find Daniel Craig easily the most attractive out of the James Bonds. I was having a conversation about this with friends - the whole 'if you were gay who would you go for' convo... most of my friends said Ryan Reynolds which, er, no! - and said Mr Craig and Mr Gosling. That got a whole debate going with people defending Sean Connery-in-his-prime, Pierce Brosnan-in-his-prime and Daniel Craig-as-of-now. 'Twas a fun debate.

Daniel Craig is exactly what the James Bond series needed. Also, the direction they're taking is what it needed. We needed to get away from the gadgetry because it was getting old and ridiculous. Casino Royale was very down to earth and gritty and I just loved it. Not saying I don't love Connery, Brosnan, Dalton, and Lazenby (F Moore), but Craig was here when we needed change the most.

Samurai Champloo is a Masterpiece. If you want to see a little bit more art (and blood) (and if you're 18+), you should also watch Afro Samurai .

Anybody idea for the music I looked for?

The less said about Lazenby, the better. Seriously. Wipe him off the face of the Bond franchise and leave him to die in some rat-infested alleyway in London. Okay, that's a bit harsh. But what he did to the Bond series in my opinion is what Winona Ryder did to the Alien series. Well, to be fair, Alien: Resurrection, that abomination, wasn't entirely Winona Ryder's fault. But, as I simply love to hate her., I choose to put the blame mostly on her and her horrific acting.

Anyway, the hottest Bond actor. Sean Connery-in-his-prime gets my vote. I'd talked about this before, but that voice could, if I had one, break my hymen if I got too close to him. Plus, he was just soooooo hooooooot back then.

Does Mouretsu Pirates have enough interest to warrant an OP? The first episode was good enough for me to keep watching, I guess I'll get to work on a thread if I'm not the only one following the series.

Edit: huh, my double post wasn't automatically merged. Please to forgive!
