Appearance: In terms of dress and fashion, it's hard to surpass Dieter when it comes to bright colors. With an eye catching wardrobe, it's not rare for people to take a second glance at him when he walks down the street. Dieter's bright neon orange eye is probably the first thing people see when they look at him. The pupil size dilates according to his mood, though his eyes are always wide open, as though searching for something. Encircling his right eye is a black tattoo of a crescent moon, the tips ending just before the inner corner of his eye. Dieter's eye is usually hidden behind a pair of oversized rimless shield sunglasses, bright red in color, while his left eye is not only concealed by these shades, but a black eye patch. His hair is a dark, pure ruby red, spiked up with long bangs in the front, smoothed down so that they taper into a sharp point at his chin, covering his eyepatch and glasses. Dieter's bangs also hide the unseemly burns and scars that disfigure the upper left side of his face, though he himself has really no issues with people seeing the mutilated features. His white teeth are perfectly straight, thin lips usually spread into a smile of some sort. His choice of clothing includes a bright yellow sleeveless T-shirt that is much too long for him under a black, white and red pinstriped vest. The vest itself lacks buttons, and so it is always open, fitting just right so that it's shorter than the T-shirt. Dieter's slim fitting jeans are midnight black, even though the more frequently seen form of black jeans are more of a gray color. His shoes are bright yellow, hi-topped even though the Velcro strap is usually covered by his pants. On his left arm is a wrist warmer, striped with yellow and black, with two thin flexible red bracelets on top of the cotton fabric. His upper right arm is covered in the tattoo of a barcode on the side of his shoulder, 7385 etched underneath. A silver watch is on his right wrist, and a stainless steel ring, with the same numbers under his barcode tattoo carved into the surface, sits on his ring finger.
Personality: His colorful look isn't just for show- Dieter, though afflicted with a less than high-quality history, is usually as cheerful and bright as his yellow shoes. The psychological defect of Dieter's that comes with being is skill is his amazingly complicated personality, like a maze with a random result at the end of every dead end. He can be depressed and sulky one minute, optimistic the next, and completely insane a few seconds later. While his sanity can never really be assured, even when he's happy, it's nothing short of gone when he's in battle. Dieter lives off of adrenaline, caffeine, or nicotine rushes, a bottle of soda or cigarette in his hand, and in battle, the sheer excitement of being satiating his mix of sadist and masochist. While this crazy combination usually causes people to shy away from Dieter, he is genuinely friendly towards other Skill, and he rather likes conversing with others, enjoying a nice chat before bloodshed. Dieter's temperament depends on his mood, and usually things that might make him annoyed or angry are the things that turn the switch in his mind to change to a new personality. His attitude towards life is extremely poor, viewing it as a game. Dieter is the type who would not bat an eyelash or lose a wink of sleep over massacring allies, friends, family, or basically anyone in his vicinity. Due to this, Dieter is often only deployed during missions that require senseless killing, while more strategic assignments leave him loitering back home with his beloved cigarette and soda.
History: Born as a result of a one-night stand, Dieter was an unwanted child from the very start. After his birth, his mother, an irresponsible person by nature, dropping him off at friends' houses while she ran off with different men for three years straight. By a stroke of luck for his mother, she left him at the house of a woman married to a sky pirate. The sky pirate, Glenn, listened to the young child's story of his mother and her less than decent occupation with incredible patience. He then proceeded to ask his mother if she would care if he took Dieter onto his ship to help with trivial chores. She gladly accepted his offer. Upon the ship, Dieter was mute to everyone but the sky pirate who'd taken him in. Communicating through whispering in Glenn's ear, Dieter spent most of his time bringing bottles of beer to the working pirates, or handing them lighter tools. These were by far the best days of his life to date, even if he found speaking to sky pirates a very difficult feat. So he lived his life until he was eight years old, half a decade since he'd been taken in by Glenn. During a battle with their rival sky pirates, Dieter was captured along with five other pirates as hostages.
They were treated very poorly. With only enough food to survive, the quality of their treatment deteriorated with time, as the captain of their crew neglected to strike up the sum that would buy them back. Eventually, they decided to kill each of the hostages off, one-by-one, with a week's time interval between each death, to warn their captain. They started with Dieter. He was the least valuable as a child, and his death would be a good example to set for the other prisoners. A child would have less of a spine, and would thus seem more in pain than a grown man would. Beginning with fionus, they burned the left side of Dieter's face before leaving him in a prison with the other hostages for a day, so that he could fully suffer the anguish of his open burns. His eye, burnt and blinded, was gouged out the next day, before they sliced various cuts upon his face, limiting themselves to the place where pain could be amplified over and over again. Throughout all this, Dieter continued to be completely mute, expressing his anguish through expression and writhing only. At the end of the day was the first time the other five hostages would hear Dieter's voice, his scream of anguish as they finally put an end to his suffering by slashing a long and deep gash across his back after stabbing a knife through his left wrist to keep him in place.
Luck placed itself on Dieter's side for once in his life however, and the man who owned the knives that had brought about Dieter's apparent end asked Dieter if he wanted to continue living. The child nodded, and henceforth became a skill, often scanning the skies with wide eyes for the sky pirate who took him in.
