I find this really annoying in the pokemon games. Nintendo cops out dialogue with blacking out. I would like to see the overworld once we lose a battle and for a trainer to say: 'Yes! I won! Here, I'll escort you back to the pokemon centre.' or 'You can try try try again but you cannot defeat the Elite Four. Take the lift down back to the pokemon centre.' Followed by an uncontrollable movement scene where you heal your pokemon and your escort says, 'If you want a rematch I'll be waiting where I was before.' Then they walk outsidde of the pokemon centre.

Again for me it's a case where it's stupid enough for me to love it. I like the thought of my character going "oh what a world" and fainting in shock, with the gym leader abandoning them.

But then where would be the melodrama? Blacking out is funny and I doubt it's going anytime soon, besides, a scene showing our character actually heading to the Pokemon centre would be the annoying thing as it'd take actual time, the blacking out method is alot quicker and allows players to get right back to the game.

No thank you!

Anything that involves me waiting longer to get back to the poke centre to heal is absolutely not a good thing. Being uncontrollably lead all the way to the pokemon centre at snails pace would be infuriating.

I don't really mind they don't include it...I mean it's not really important. We can assume they rushed to the poke centre. It's trivial stuff.

That said it would be nice if npcs had a memory, so they would say something different to you depending on whether you won or lost the last battle.

Hm... this is actually rather interesting in the fact that it would make sense in how the trainer guides you back to the last Pokémon Center you visited. But then again... it always has said in the dialogue "[player] scurried back to the last Pokémon Center, protecting his/her Pokémon from further harm...", so I don't think it would happen in Pokémon X and Y, but it is a rather interesting concept.

But if it ever happened, I think it should be a little short, like the trainer would say "I'll defend you until you get back to the last Pokémon Center you visited" and the screen fades out and fades back in at the Pokémon Center where you then heal your Pokémon.

What about a very short cutscene similar to the ending credits? Instead of a black screen, it can show the protagonist running towards the nearest Pokémon Center and then it cuts back to showing our Pokémon getting healed inside like usual. This way we get a visual while still keeping it short. Anything too long and it just becomes tedious if one loses a lot.

That said it would be nice if npcs had a memory, so they would say something different to you depending on whether you won or lost the last battle.
This. Very much.

The blacking out screen is the closest thing the Pokémon games have to a game over screen. I like it for that very reason.

I never understood "blacking out"(or "whiting out" for the older gens). I mean, who faints themselves upon losing a battle? xD

It'd make more sense to me if it just said "[PLAYER] lost the battle against [THE OTHER PERSON]!" Then it would say the rushing back to the Pokemon Center thing, then cut to the inside of the Center.

I do like the other ideas of NPCs changing dialogue for the rematch and trainers having their own "I win" dialogue.

I wish the npc had some "winning" dialogue like those in the Battle Frontier/tower/subway/pwt. However the whole escort thing would take awhile, the black/whiteout is fine...I just wish our pokémon were already healed and we simply go to the receiving pokémon back part of the center.

I had always wondered why we blacked out. To be honest it'd be hilarious if there was a cutscene of what François said, with our character going "Oh woe is me" fainting dramatically and then having to be carried to the pokemon center by the victor. But it would get annoying after the first couple times. As long as it only took less than 15 seconds I'd be fine with it. Any more would get really annoying, especially when you're stuck on a gym leader and keep fainting. :P

I didn't even remember this feature because I honestly never black out anymore since I've had the internet to tell me what Pokemon each gym leader and Elite 4 member has.

I think it would be more annoying if there was some kind of animation sequence, because it would take more time.

While it would take longer, I would prefer if the battle just ended and you had to go to the PokéCenter yourself. Then when you returned to battle the trainer again, they acknowledged that you already battled them before battling again.

However, when in a gym, the battle ends then a Nurse Joy turns up to heal your Pokémon, as sort of a "Gym PokéCenter" kind of deal.

They kiiiind of did in FR/LF at the Elite Four when they say, "You have returned!" but yeah, I would like to see something like that in X&Y!

Maybe the scenery can change to like, a rainy, thundurous evening when the main character rushes to the pokemon center for his.her injured pokemon. Maybe something dramatic like that?~

I'm with everyone who wants the victors to acknowledge their win over you the next time you battle them. I wouldn't mind a melodramatic scene because it would be funny, as long as it has an option to skip it.

with our character going "Oh woe is me" fainting dramatically and then having to be carried to the pokemon center by the victor.

The reason I liked your post. XD

This would be cool but there would need to be an option that makes it skippable otherwise it might get old
