Okay I'm doing this challenge for realz now with Ruby version. So far I have my mudkip and I know I'm going to have Breloom. Haven't decided on my third, either a psychic or fire type, but I'll update with screen shots and such on my next post.

I was wondering if I would be abl to do the challenge on a already started game where I was using 3 different type of pokemon? It's on my heartgold i've already beaten the johto elite four and need to go to the kanto region. The 3 pokemon I'm using are typlosion, gyrados, and ampharos.

Welp I'm an idiot and didn't take any screen caps for the first 2 badges, and by the 3rd badge I've accepted that there are no cool fire or psychic types in the area. (I'm one of those losers who didn't pick up a Ralts just cause a lot of you used it). So I decided to finally capture a Minum, though I'm going against the thunder gym leader so I didn't really bother training it much, and the Shock Wave TM I get upon winning would be very helpful.
For the last battle I really only needed Breloom and it did an awesome job. It pretty much 1 hit ko'd all the gym trainer's pokemon with mach punch. When it came to the gym leader himself stun spore, leech seed, and mach punch took care of everything. Bye Bye Magneton.
So I officially have 3 gym badges now, and my 3 pokemon on my team. Can't wait until I get a Swampert to see how far I get with this tri team.
Btw is there anyone out there in the world that can easily make a userbar with the 3 pokes for the challenge D: my siggy is getting completely cluttered and I fail at graphics.

Chapter 1 - Trio Strike!
Chapter 1 - Trio Strike!
It's been years since I lost my original copy of Pokemon Emerald, but now...it's time to return to the Hoenn Region after so many years with the ROM. So...Birch says some stuff, and I'll name myself Kobora, and I'm a dude. I start off in a moving truck, and I end up in Littleroot Town. I went and set the clock, so now it's time to meet the neighbors. Looks like I met a girl named May, but she isn't important yet. Anyway, I'm heading to the first route in the game until Birch was being attacked by a Zigzagoon. He has three Poke Balls in his bag, so I'll take Mudkip.
After battling that pokemon, Birch took me back to his lab, and I nicknamed Mudkip. Now it's time to go battle May. On my way to find May, I reached Oldale Town. North of that is where May is. Now, in Route 103, it's time to battle May. She has a Treecko. After owning May, I rushed back to Littleroot, and got the Pokedex, 5 Poke Balls, and the Running Shoes. Now, to Petalburg City! In Route 102, I got into some battles, but those aren't important yet.
Now, in Petalburg City. Time to see Dad. And...a kid walks in on the conversation. He's Wally, and I helped him catch a Ralts. But...on my way out of Petalburg City, a guy came over to me. He's looking for talented trainers. Oh well, I guess I'll see him later. Now, onward to Petalburg Woods! In the woods, I caught a Shroomish, and nicknamed it Smash. Now...when traveling through Petalburg Woods, I met a Devon Researcher who was being attacked by a Team Aqua Grunt. I did own him, of course. I got a Great Ball as thanks, but the researcher ran off for Rustboro. Let's-a go!
Finally, after crossing Petalburg Woods, and Route 104, I've finally reached Rustboro City. I could go to Route 116 and catch Taillow right now, but instead, I'm going to the Rustboro Gym. It's a Rock type Gym. After owning all the trainers, Roxanne is next. She has 2 Geodude, then her signature Nosepass. It got owned, and I won, getting the Stone Badge and now...it's time to go catch Taillow. Although...when I left the gym, a Team Aqua Grunt was running out of a building, along with the same researcher as before. Although...I'll handle it later.
This concludes this chapter of my Trio-Species Challenge.

I have made small progress, but I almost feel like giving up. The amount of grinding I will need to take on Brock will be huge, and Shuckle doesn't a learn a non "It''s not very affective move" till level 30 something, which is bide. Anyways, here is what I have done so far.
