Blockade
A Pokemon Journey
Rated T for Mild Violence, Mild Romance and slightly suggestive themes

pokemon_kanto_map_hgss_by_cow41087-d3d00i0.jpg

Plot:

Welcome to Kanto, where the Pokemon battling business has always been strong. From the infamous conquests of legends such as Red and Ash (Yes, they are two different people), to the Hall-marked intelligence of Professor Oak, the names of great influences of the Pokemon world lie in Kanto. However, things aren't at their strong point. Team Rocket, once an insurgent force before being toppled by Red, have returned to prominence amongst Kanto, under the leadership of "The Don". This time, Team Rocket is not messing around. Team Rocket has been successfully removing Pokemon from the citizens of Kanto, thus affecting the lucrative Pokemon Training business.

These days, no one travels Kanto by night, and you almost never see trainers journeying across Kanto, due to Team Rockets cutt-throat methods of retrieving Pokemon. The most fear-inspiring of these are the Blockades, where Team Rocket blocks off the road and demands a toll of all Pokemon in tow. These blockades have caused a decline in Pokemon trainers, along with Professor Oak's mysterious disappearance. Team Rocket also holds heists anywhere at anytime. Now Oak's replacement, Professor Mahogany, is in charge of dealing with potential Trainers. That is where your character comes in. Your character is a prospective trainer heading to Pallet Town in Kanto ready for a new Journey in Kanto, no matter what pitfalls lie ahead.

Mechanics/rules:

 • Normal PC and RP Corner rules apply.
 • There are no levels in this RP. You will learn new moves and evolve as you go along. I will reward you with moves and evolutions as you progress.
 • If you wish to catch a Pokemon or find a rare item (TM, Evo Stone, so on) ask me first. If I give you the go, you can acquire said item or Pokemon.
 • No Power-playing or God-Modding
 • To decide what moves hit in RPer vs. RPer battles, the attacking RPer will attack, and leave the other RPer to decide if the attacking hits. If you are dodging to much, that is Power-playing, which is a no-no.
 • Bunnying is banned unless permission is given by both parties.
 • Your character must consume food, liquids and must sleep.
 • You may make NPC's, just don't over do it.
 • I will control major NPC's, like Mahogany, The Don and Hannibal.
 • You should try to be posting at least twice or thrice a week.
 • I am GM and my word is law.
 • When trainers reach a new route, I will post the Wild Pokemon that are found there.
 • Keep track of your Pokemon and their moves. Move max is 6.
 • I will notify you when you reach a route what level area of moves wild Pokemon learn.

Can I reserve Vulpix please? I'll get that SU up right now.

Name: Calgary Frosch

Age: 14

Gender: Male

Appearance: Calgary is only just starting to grow, so his height is a mere 4' 11". His legs, however stick-like the may be, make up most of his height as they are disproportionally long compared to his short torso, which is also pretty scrawny. Black hair sprouts from Calgary's head down to his ears, where it then curls outward in the style of a hockey player. Eyebrows which are just starting to darken and thicken arch over round eyes of a very dark brown color. His nose is short and ends in a round bulb. Calgary's skin is very pale and fortunately is still very clear. In his left ear lies a [fake] diamond stud and usually masking most of his black hair is a white flat-bill hat worn slightly to the side. His signature shirt is a black graphic tee with the words "Make it rain" in white painted over a mess of purple, red and orange strokes. Being a medium size, the shirt is a bit baggy on Calgary, which is why he adores it. White, flowing basketball shorts accompany the shirt usually, and to finish it off are size 11 purple high-top shoes that look far too heavy for such skinny ankles.

Personality: Calgary is a hot-headed teenager. He reveals his sharp tongue when he needs to defend himself from demeaning words and actions. Words tend to roll off of this sharp tongue before the boy can process them, which has put in him in some rough situations before. So Calgary has learned to toughen up- mentally, of course- and take what's coming to him, though he won't go down without a fierce battle. All of this has stemmed from the secretive insecurity he has about his underdeveloped body thanks to his brothers. Generally, Calgary carries a very sarcastic attitude and is very blunt. The kid has got serious balls though and seems basically fearless. Some may attribute this to his ambitiousness, others to his stupidity. He's also very clumsy, even without the three-sizes-too-big shoes.

History: The Frosch family has 6 members- 2 parents, and 4 sons of the ages 19, 18, 16 and 14, Calgary obviously being the youngest. The family resides in Pewter City, near Mt. Moon. Growing up, Calgary and his older brothers spent their childhood days chasing off wild Pokemon, excavating for fossils in neighbors' yards, playing with fire, wrestling, and generally just causing trouble. But this concluded gradually as his brothers grew out of such activities, instead concentrating on girls and video games and such, though they still liked to wrestle, especially with Calgary as he was the easiest to pin. This is also the time when the teasing began, always aimed at the youngest and his abnormally small size. Now, Calgary had his own friends from school, but he deeply craved acceptance from his brothers like he used to hold, and so the kid began to fight back, to tease back, until he had evolved into something respectable, something far older than he was. Calgary's current dream is to prove his power by becoming the Kanto League Champ.

Name: Stephen Wade

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Appearance: Like many other teenage males, Stephen is extremely self-conscious of his appearance. Always attempting to clad himself with the latest trends in an attempt to keep up with others around him. He has medium length scruffy jet black hair, which he brushes over to one side while still maintaining a healthy amount covering his ears. Unusually for someone with such a naturally dark hair colour Stephen has blue ears which are accentuated perfectly because of the clash in colour.

Despite the fact his clothing may change to upkeep with the latest fashion and trends a constant favourite outfit of Stephen's remains for him to wear a brown trapper hat to keep his head warm, Stephen has always been a firm believer of wrapping up in any type of chill. His favourite outfit also consists of navy blue skinny chinos and an Aztec print polo shirt. Fitting with his loathing of the cold he is seen wearing beige boots the majority of the time.

Personality: If there was ever a definition for a joker Stephen would be it, whether actually witty, crude or even not funny at all Stephen will take all opportunities to crack a joke with the majority of them being at the expense of others. Stephen is often smiling; however, it does tend to vary on whether he's hiding insecurity or being genuinely happy.

Despite his jovial moods confrontation is something that Stephen is definitely not renowned for, he seems to frown upon any physical confrontation so it's perhaps surprising that he's going to partake in a journey full of confrontation. Stephen is a much nicer person when alone one on one with a person than in groups, when in high numbers Stephen partakes in too much one-upmanship.

History: Stephen doesn't have a particularly interesting history to him. It isn't too common these days to have people grow up in a household where their parents love each other immensely and stay together. Stephen is lucky enough to be one of a faltering number of children who have this honour. Stephen's dad is a Pokémon veterinarian so Stephen isn't too unfamiliar with Pokémon and their ailments. This has perhaps been a hidden goal of Stephen's: to become familiar enough with Pokémon to make his father proud.

Could I reserve Horsea? I'll have my SU up soon ^^

Edit: Here's my SU!

Name: Nienke Amori
Age: 15
Gender: Female

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Personality:

Nienke is a very smart person who enjoys conversation. She is very observant, taking in every detail she can. She is very detailed when she is describing something and tries to do things to the best of her abilities. She spends a lot of her time reading, drawing, and writing. Singing and dancing don't come easy to her, so she avoids them. She dislikes extremely loud things. She is usually very calm, although she does anger quickly when insulted. She doesn't respond well to criticism unless it's constructive. She is a lover of the arts and writes poetry in her spare time. She's very private about her works, however, and doesn't like people to see her writings and drawings.

She's very polite to those she meets. She's not a gossiper and ignores harsh rumors about others. She doesn't hold grudges, and is very forgiving. She's not one for childish pranks and mischief, but she does enjoy a good joke. She uses proper English, avoiding words such as "ain't", "gonna", "comin", etc. She prefers being called by her actual name, and not a nickname such as "Ni Ni", as they annoy her.

History:

Nienke was born to Richard and Carolina Amori in Goldenrod, Johto. She was a bright child, doing excellent in school and in fine arts. Proud of their daughter, they encouraged her to focus on writing and illustrating stories. She wrote short stories in her journal and drew pictures to go with them often. She didn't have a ton of friends growing up, but she did have two best friends, Elliot and Marie. They spent a lot of time together.

When Nienke turned thirteen, she and her parents moved to Canalave City, Sinnoh. Without her close friends, she felt rather awkward. She spent a lot of time at the local library and learned many things about Sinnoh mythology there. At this time, she was more open about her drawings and stories and enjoyed showing them to people. One day, she was writing a story about a medieval Johto when a rather rude girl snatched her notebook from her. She began to read what Nienke was writing and obnoxiously laughed. "Knights and Dragonites? Do you really spend all of your time writing these ridiculous fantasy stories? What a geek." Others around them stared. This heavily angered Nienke, who grabbed her book and ran off. She later forgave the girl, but she didn't forget what the girl had done. Embarrassed, she decided to keep her stories private out of the sake of that happening again.

When she turned fifteen, her parents decided to let her have a Pokemon companion. They were not strong on the idea of their daughter going on a Pokemon journey, but they knew she would want to leave sooner or later. She received a Horsea from Professor Oak. It seemed rather shy, hiding from others at first. She hoped to form a bond with the water Pokemon. The Horsea, a male, liked its trainer and was named Poseidon.

Starter Choice: Poseidon the Horsea

Hey, could I reserve Larvitar? SU will be up soon, of course!

EDIT: And here we go!

Name: Pierce Avril-O'Shea (But tends to just go as Pierce Avril, even though he prefers the longer version)
Age: 13
Gender: Male

Appearance: Pierce is a boy of average, yet somewhat tall height at approximately 5'4", and quite scrawny-looking. He's thin, almost alarmingly so, but this is due to a hyperactive metabolism combined with exercise. Thus, he's stronger than he looks (and he looks like he could blow away in a breeze). His skin is fairly tanned, contoured to the shape of his clothes like most kids. His hair is fairly long and unkempt, and a dusty red shade. Below these are slightly large pale blue eyes, intensely staring at the goal ahead, daring others to challenge him. The most noticeable thing about him, though, are his teeth - they're crooked in such a way it seems as if he has vampire fangs [colloquially known as "yaeba"]. While his body is thin, his face, while obviously starting to grow into a handsome angular shape, is still a little chubby. He still has the physical look of childish innocence and is occasionally labelled "cute" by old ladies, much to his chagrin. He can't wait to hit puberty.

He often wears a shirt with broad, blue and white horizontal stripes underneath a ruddy brown vest. He adorns this vest with a couple of medals – the first prizes his parents won in a tournament (they tied, first place) when they were out on their journey, given to him as a good luck charm. He wears denim jeans for both the comfort and practicality they bring. When he must, he wears slightly worn sneakers on his feet but would rather go barefoot. He carries around a black medium-sized satchel, often rather empty - he's weirdly frugal for someone his age, and doesn't like spending more than he needs to.

Personality: Pierce is the odd combination of friendly and insufferable, believing himself to always be right and always boasting about his achievements, yet similarly proud of his friends' accomplishments. He's a poor winner and a poor loser, and is highly confrontational towards those who rub him the wrong way. He's foolhardy and a bit reckless, but undeniably brave. He takes risks he doesn't need to, mostly for the thrill of it. He's fiercely loyal to his friends and Pokémon, and challenging or wounding them is the same as if it happened to him. He's quite cheerful and tries to stay positive no matter what, though this naturally falters from time to time. Mostly this is expressed through his violent temper, and has quite a short fuse regardless. Sometimes innocuous things can set the boy off – pity the thing that did. This sometimes leads to him attacking Pokémon much bigger than he, so it's not surprising he's often covered in bruises and cuts. Overall his emotions are a bit wild, actually. He's also a habitual liar, particularly under pressure, and this does often land him in trouble.

History: His parents were two young trainers, both sixteen, travelling together on their Pokémon journey initially against their own will. Brash father, stubborn mother, it wasn't the best of combinations. But eventually, somehow they fell in love and at the rather early age of twenty they had a young son to look after. However, they were still travelling the world, and despite the accidental addition to their family they continued on, training to be the best. The young Pierce experienced many tournaments across many regions and had many close encounters with strong Pokémon, but by the time he turned five his parents decided to settle down in Cerulean City and stop competing (except, of course, against each other; old habits die hard). After all, the boy needed a proper education – and his parents, while bright, weren't exactly knowledgeable enough to home-school him.

The rest of his life was rather dull compared to his early years, not that he can remember more than half of it. He did decently in school, failing in areas most kids excelled in and vice versa and developing interests in things no normal child would like. He made a few good friends despite his attitude (though it probably helped they were usually the children of his parents' friends). Eventually, however, he began craving the life he experienced when he was young – only now, he'd be in control and be the one aiming for the top.

Starter Choice: Larvitar

May I reserve Beldum? I'm working on an SU right now so it should be up soon. :]

Edit:

Name: Eve Beaumont
Age: 12
Gender: Female
Appearance: Eve is a short girl standing just three inches shy of five feet. Her skin is a pale, milky colour with very subtle light brown freckles scattered beneath her light blue eyes. She normally has a serious look on her face, which is sort of odd seeing how small and childish she looks, since people are used to seeing children giggle and laugh constantly. Her face is framed by jet black hair, cut in a medium length pixie cut. Because of her hair, she is often mistaken for a boy when seen from afar or from behind. She is slightly underweight, but nothing too drastic.
Eve mostly wears patternless wool shirts and coats. Eve likes wearing fitted black jeans and battered old gray sneakers. She doesn't wear any accessories because they bug her and only get in her way.

Personality: Eve is highly mischievous and always attempts to figure things out when they interest her. She doesn't hesitate to steal things that don't belong to her, especially if it's something that she doesn't understand, and therefore wants to figure out. Eve has a tendency to disrespect adults that she isn't familiar or fond of, yelling at them when angry or not responding when they ask her something. Most of the time, though, she tries to avoid them. Eve gets along fairly well with other kids, making friends easily if they are willing. However, she is still shy when meeting any new person. Eve has a slight "problem" with staring. Due to her curiosity and eagerness to learn about everything, she stares at people to figure them out. She does this even more with people who go out of their way to dress up and those who look different than she does. This has made many people angry at her and tell her that she's a creepy little kid, especially since her irises and pupils contrast so greatly.

Besides Eve just seeming like a nosy and obnoxious child, she is very smart and was always one of the top students in her classes. Eve reads occasionally, but is not a bookworm either. She likes to explore (as if that wouldn't be obvious enough) and can be very warmhearted with people she cares about and trusts. That being said, she puts her friends before herself. She would even go as far as to manipulate and lie to other people if it meant getting her friends out of conflicts. One thing for sure, is that Eve never learned what manners were.

History: Eve was born and grew up in Lavender Town. She lived most of her childhood with her mother, and she never met her father. Eve had a good relationship with her mom, and they often traveled together. They've been to every region, From Kanto to Johto, Johto to Hoenn, Hoenn to Sinnoh, Sinnoh to Unova. Eve was happy and carefree. When she turned nine, her mother got into a relationship with some man, but Eve knew enough about him to know that he wasn't her father. Soon, Eve's mother became pregnant with another baby girl. However, when the time came, neither Eve's sister nor mother made it. Eve lived with the man her mother was with for about five months, but then the man just disappeared one day and didn't return. Eve was alone, and only ten years old. She continued going to school for the sake of her education, but she never told anybody that she was homeless. After only half a year, people at school often wondered why she was constantly late (the school was in Celadon City and Eve preferred to stay in Lavender Town) and why she never showed up to parent-teacher conferences. Not wanting to reveal her situation and live with another family or at an orphanage, she dropped out of school. She lived alone off of hiding and stealing food/drinks for two more years.

One day, she befriended a Dugtrio after waking up from sleeping inside Diglett's Cave. The Dugtrio entertained her when she was lonely or bored, and would often follow her outside the cave when she went for walks to explore the routes, since every single road in Kanto strangely had nobody walking through them. It was then that she bumped into a Team Rocket member, who demanded she hand over the Dugtrio if she wanted to continue walking. Of course, she refused. But instead of just declining her entry, the Team Rocket member attacked and was able to catch the Dugtrio in an ultra ball, since it was still a wild Pokémon despite being in Eve's company. After taking the Pokémon, Team Rocket allowed Eve to pass. In tears, she just ran off in the direction in which she came. Returning to Lavender Town, Eve overheard some neighbours gossiping about the rumour they heard. They heard that there were going to be new Pokémon trainers, and Eve instantly knew that she would become one too and eventually save the Dugtrio that had helped her out.

Can I reserve Budew? Edited now with my character.

Name: Michelle Shaw
Age: 13
Gender: Female

Personality: Michelle is soft-spoken and keeps her thoughts to herself. When others need help she always ready to assist and goes out of her way to solve problems while expecting nothing in return. Her passive attitude means she likes to avoid arguments and is difficult to anger but because of this others often get their way and she has to rely on others to get through confrontations. Michelle also loves being organized, she plans things out in advance and is a quick thinker whenever the unexpected occurs.

As a pokemon trainer she is prepared and cautious, a survivalist. She carries more supplies than necessary but is never caught without gear, food or medicine. Avoiding trouble is her speciality she enjoys taking the scenic route and admiring the small things that other trainers might miss or disregard. Michelle trains her pokemon to make their own decisions, giving them freedom to act without commands. She loves to discuss tactics with other trainers and her own pokemon right before battle. Her style is a defensive one, usually letting opponents make the first move.

Appearance: Michelle has always been tall for her age and currently stands at 5'2". Like all young females she would love to be thinner but her body size is perfectly acceptable for her age and height. Michelle adores the fashion sense of famous young trainers and does her best to recreate the look in her own way. Her brown shoulder length hair is easily managed and kept clear of her matching brown eyes. Her skin is lightly tanned and marked by the occasional freckle but well protected from the sun by a white wide brim hat. The rest of her outfit consists of brand name clothing. A purple and white striped v-neck tee and a pair of dark blue jeans which are suitable for travelling. Her footwear is also sensible for travelling, a pair of sneakers which she doesn't mind getting dirty.

Michelle also carries a large purple and black backpack with many pockets to store her supplies. She couldn't travel without it and it contains everything required to travel for days at a time including camping gear and extra clothes. The weight bothers her at first but better to be slow and steady than being caught in the middle of nowhere without supplies.

History: Michelle is from the bustling Viridian City but has always preferred the outdoors to the crowded inner city. Her parents own a cafe/bakery in the middle of the shopping district which enjoys success and keeps her parents very busy. Three years ago Michelle's older brother Rhys, who is now sixteen, left to begin his own pokemon journey. He frequently calls his younger sister and she is always excited to know what he is up to. Michelle is proud of her brothers success and aspires to travel the world like he has and see what he has seen. Currently he is exploring the wilderness of Hoenn training his pokemon and searching for rare ones.

With her parents always busy and her brother absent Michelle spent a lot of time with her school friends outside of school hours. She knows plenty about pokemon but has little hands on experience thanks to living in the middle of the city. Most of what she knows comes from her brother or tv and she looks forward to becoming a trainer in order to learn more.

With that, let's go!

One thing, for every post you make, at the top post your character's name, any others (NPC or RPers) travelling with you, and your location)

Professor Mahogany, Hannibal
Pallet Town

Professor Mahogany waited quietly outside of his new lab in Pallet Town, breathing in the fresh air, it was refreshing for the Professor. Mahogany was waiting to hand out Pokemon to six new trainers, and set them off on their way. Mahogany twiddled his thumbs as he awaited for the trainers to arrive. Mahogany wheeled the table holding the Pokemon out onto the Veranda, getting them prepped for the trainers. As Mahogany exhaled, he saw the trainers incoming.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Mahogany, Hannibal watched Oak wheeling the cart out. Hannibal knew that these trainers would be the answer. The chosen bunch, Hannibal thought. Hannibal saw the trainers incoming, and ducked into cover behind a dumpster, yet he still had a good view of Mahogany's Veranda.

What you will do:

You will go to Mahogany's lab in Pallet Town. You will pick up your starter (the one you chose) and a Pokedex, your trainer card and a Potion. After you receive your entry package, you are free to start your adventure, beginning with Route 1 since there is a 99.99% chance that you won't have surf yet, so Route 1:

Route 1
Connects Pallet Town (South) to Viridian City (North)
Estimated walking time: 2 hours (RP time)
Estimated biking time: 1.25 hours (RP time)
Pokemon:

016.gif
019.gif
263.gif
396.gif

Nature:

Route 1 is peaceful, with low rolling hills and flat roads. Small trees and bushes are the main source of vegitation, along with the grasses of the area. A small brook runs along just outside of Pallet Town, which is a spawning bed for Magikarp. Bird Pokemon peck freely amongst the grass, and Rattata and Zigzagoons roam the bushes and hills of the area.

Pierce Avril-O'Shea, Cerulean City -> Pallet Town

Honestly, Pierce found nothing more fun than riding Pokémon. Sure, one of his parents had to be with him (for now), but the rush of wind in his hair as he soared above the landscape was simply exhilarating. His father's Braviary navigated the skies with ease, a smooth journey for the young boy clinging tightly around its torso with his legs, his arms occupied by grabbing his father's waist.

The green landscape practically blurred, but even through this the pair and the Pokémon could see how empty it was between towns. The occasional dot of some large creature wandering around was all the excitement they had earlier on. However, they had just passed Viridian city, and with a command muffled by the wind the trio swooped down to just above the tree line of Route One.

Pierce eagerly scanned the ground, hoping to see something that would pique his interest for after he received his first Pokémon. Small purple patches, spikes of brown and white, and the occasional small bird flapping awkwardly close to take a look at the large intruder met the redhead's eyes. It was just a bit too exciting at the moment for the young man, and he couldn't think clearly about how he might structure his team – all his mind screamed at him was "I WANT THEM ALL".

Eventually, the small town came into view. Pierce grinned and tensed just a little more, pulling his fringe out of his goggled eyes to see the town clearer. Yes, the starting point of champions! Sure, his father was a native of Sinnoh and his mother, while a Kanto girl, never started her journey in her home region, but that wasn't the point! He knew of the stories about the great trainers who cheerfully accepted their starting Pokémon in this very town. And he was gonna be one of them!

The three were now over tiled houses, the occasional person peering curiously up at them from their backyards or the streets. Pierce waved at a few as if he were some sort of celebrity and they his adoring fans. The houses made way to stores and industry, depressingly grey in points. Pierce's father pointed a little into the distance.

"Over there! That's pretty close!" Braviary flung its wings open and slowly descended into a park, a few startled citizens running away from the huge wingspan. Pierce clung tightly to both his father and the bird Pokémon. He was never that good with landings, but Braviary delicately touched down to the stares of many.

Pierce's father slid off his Pokémon and helped his son down. Pierce pulled off his goggles, and nonchalantly wiped bug remains off onto his shirt before stuffing the goggles into his bag. He glanced up at his father, blue eyes staring into brown. His dad cocked his head. "What are you waiting for, buddy? Go on, you're off on your own now." He grinned widely. "Don't come crying to me when you get hurt, okay?"

Pierce mirrored his smile. "And don't come crying to me when you miss me!" His father laughed and ruffled the boy's hair. Slightly awkwardly, Pierce hugged his dad. "See ya later, then!"

"Yup, see ya." And without missing a beat, he hopped back onto Braviary and took to the skies. Pierce watched until he was only a dot.

"Right!" he yelled to no one in particular, pumping his fists. "Let's do this!" The park he landed in wasn't terribly far from the lab; he'd checked his map before leaving. He wandered out of the park, ignoring the stares of the still slightly frazzled park-goers, and towards the building where he would start his own Pokémon journey. The town was fairly quiet, clean, yet still had the seedy creepiness between buildings that no amount of council meetings could get rid of. A small flash of movement caught his eye, and Pierce took a double take – but there was nothing, just a dumpster. It was probably some Pokémon or other.

As he reached the doors, he turned around to see a few other kids walking up. Of course, the other kids lucky enough to be picked to get Pokémon. At a glance they seemed mostly about his age. With yet another grin, Pierce waved a friendly hello to the others.

Calgary Frosch; Journey to Pallet Town

Trees, bushes and grasses of all sorts blurred by on both sides of the path. Calgary knew this area too well- he had spent a good portion of his childhood in Viridian Forest, chasing rodent Pokemon, catching bug Pokemon with methods far more primitive than Pokeballs, getting lost, but always accompanied by his band of brothers. So it seemed odd now to return with his oldest brother, Chandler, after having completely abandoning the place 4 or 5 years prior.

Though the forest seemed eternally preserved, unaltered in any way Calgary could see, the boy couldn't help noticing how they had changed. Calgary's left hand had an iron grip on his flat-bill- both boys had laughed off their mother's urges to wear helmets- making sure it didn't fly off. He didn't used to care about such things. And instead of trekking in their muddied sneakers or taking turns riding the bikes and their pegs, the two Frosch gentlemen were cuddled nonchalantly atop Chandler's motorcycle, blazing through the woods only because it was on the way.

The previous day, Calgary had entirely planned on walking from his home in Pewter City down to Pallet Town in order to recieve his first Pokemon. But when his mother discovered the boy's plan...well, things were changed. For his safety and for time's sake, arrangements were made with Chandler, who would have to take off work in Mt. Moon to deliver his little brother southwards as his parents couldn't miss work and his other brothers had school and no vehicles. Neither of the two agreed at first, and still neither fully supported the plan. But here they are.

The landscape quickly changed from a forest to an open field to a city road, back to an open field and finally a cozy town street. The entire trip was downhill from Pewter, and Calgary was none too eager to venture back up the hill on foot, though he'd never complain aloud.

Traveling much slower now that they were in a small town and near the destination, Calgary noticed an interesting shadow on the road. His dark eyes looked to the sky for its owner and observed a giant flying Pokemon, similar to a Fearow, soaring above and past them, carrying at least two passengers. He couldn't help the anxious feeling bubbling in his stomach. The thought of having his own flying Pokemon someday soon was too thrilling.

Finally, the vehicle swerved to a stop at the side of what Calgary could only assume was the laboratory building, and he hopped off eagerly, savoring the feeling of blood flowing back in his numb legs. Chandler swung off cooly, and flicked off his dark sunglasses in an even cooler fashion.

Calgary had been dreading this moment, unwilling to imagine the awkward tension that staring Chandler in the eye before departing on his own journey would bring. Chandler is the only other Frosch boy to have attempted making a Pokemon journey through the Kanto League. After obtaining 7 badges, his entire Pokemon team was looted at a Blockade. When he returned home, he seemed completely normal, except for the fact that he developed a deep resentment for Pokemon- though Calgary suspected this was just a facade for his despair. Chandler was the only member of the family that withheld eager support for Calgary.

Chandler stood over a foot taller than his brother and had a stocky, intimidating build. His facial features were stoney and serious, and still Calgary stared into his eyes, defying the image. But the older brother quickly broke their gaze and leaned down to the large black tote attached to the side of his motorcycle. Unhitching the latch, he retrieved some large-ish mass and held it out to Calgary. It was a backpack, a very pure grey with black accents and zippers, and, though it wasn't worn, it wasn't new either. It was so familiar too, but Calgary couldn't quite recall...

"Wait, this was yours, wasn't it? You used this, I remember it...vaguely." He took the bag and was examining it closely, a knot twisting in his stomach. Chandler had kept his Pokemon, all his gear, everything dear in this very pack.

"Ding ding," Chandler sounded flatly. But he smiled, and warmly too. "You weren't expecting to store everything in those baggy pockets were you?" he sarcastically asked, gesturing to Calgary's basketball shorts which billowed down past his knees. "Look, this bag's been through a lot if you'll also recall, so take care of it, won't you?"

Calgary slung it over his shoulders, beaming now. It hung down below his waist, a bit too big just like everything else he wore.

"It's perfect," he murmured appreciatively. His brother chuckled.

"Glad you like it. Take care of yourself now too, alright. Give us something to root for back home, kiddo." Chandler offered out his hand for a shake. For the past few years Calgary had been subjected to tormenting about his sub-par manliness from his brothers. But still he lurched forward and hugged his brother, who returned it. Brief but still satisfying.

Chanlder took off, back up the incline, and Calgary ventured around the corner of the building, coming to its front. There on the veranda was clearly Professor Mahogany perched next to a cart of Pokeballs. Another boy was also there, and as Calgary approached, he waved with a friendly smile.

"'Sup dudes," Calgary greeted casually, nodding to both the Professor and the boy.

Eve Beaumont, Viridian City to Pallet Town

Eve wiped the thin layer of sweat off her forehead with her wool sleeve. She had been walking for a week now. Not a week straight, she took plenty of breaks, of course. Pallet Town was just beginning to come into view. Eve had stopped in Viridian City yesterday, and woke up early this morning to make the two hour tread to the place where she'd start her journey.

Only, was this really the beginning? Eve didn't think so, considering all she'd been through so far. This journey had started a while ago. All the way from Lavender Town, where she frequented, or "lived". Eve looked up at the sky, the sun's bright UV rays shining onto her light blue eyes. The harsh radiance hurt her eyes and she quickly looked back to the road. Observing her surroundings, it was still completely isolated here. Oh, and here, she saw the reason why. They were everywhere.

"Give us your Pokémon, little boy," the grunt said with a malicious grin as Eve made her way toward them. The other grunts around him all watched Eve. Ignoring the grunt's mistake, as people made that mistake often because of her boyish haircut, Eve stopped in front of the group and stared at the grunt's face, then looked past him where the entrance of Pallet Town was.

The Rocket grunt's grin slowly faded, as if he were just told that his favourite TV show had been cancelled. Eve glanced back to his face, then back forward. She continued walking as if he had just given her the okay to proceed. The grunt put his hand on Eve's forehead and immediately stopped her in her tracks.

"I said, give us your Pokémon!" He nudged her backward. Again, Eve just stared at him. "Can't you talk, you little brat?!" the grunt spat, losing his temper quickly. Eve mumbled back to him, keeping her eyes on his.

"Maybe she doesn't have any," a female grunt said.

"Empty your pockets!" exclaimed the male grunt, ignoring the woman's remark.

"There's nothing in them," Eve replied.

"Empty your pockets!" the grunt repeated.

Eve turned the pockets of her wool coat inside out. Nothing. She was finally allowed to pass, and she made it to the edge of Pallet. The houses were all tiled in gray, but their somber looks didn't bother Eve. People paused their gardening to observe Eve as she walked through. She looked back at them, mirroring their troubled faces. Turning a corner and seeing the lab, Eve grinned and her cerulean eyes lit up. She walked faster than she had been and saw a tan boy with long, rusty red hair waving. Eve narrowed her eyes a bit to try and get a better view of him. Her grin weakened a bit, but the smile was still there.

She then looked at a man who was at a table with pokéballs. Eve guessed that she would get her Pokémon from him. Another boy was making his way over. He had black hair and pale skin, so similar to Eve's features, that it was just weird to her. Her own skin was a pinkish red colour right now, though. That long walk was anything but a walk in the park.

Once she got close enough to them, she stopped and looked them all over once again. Her eyes traveled back to the red haired boy. Eve was in a daze, so she just stood there wordlessly. Her short, jet black hair was mildly messy as if someone had just smacked her across the head. Given the situation, maybe someone should have.
