Stat Trainers is a fan term for a group of five Pokémon Trainers - Cheryl, Mira, Riley, Buck, and Marley - who specialize in Pokémon that excel in a certain stat.
Cheryl specializes in HP with her Chansey.
Riley specializes in Attack with his Lucario.
Buck specializes in Defense with his Claydol.
Mira specializes in Special Attack with her Kadabra.
And Marley specializes in Speed with her Arcanine.

In Pokemon Diamond , Pearl and Platinum these five trainers, also know as stat trainers, appear in various locations throughout the games. At these location the trainer will ask the player to guide them through that said location. As you navigate your way through, you both run into trainers and Pokemon and both of you will engage in a Double Battle together. After each battle the trainer will also heal your Pokemon and their Pokemon.

After the player beats the Elite Four ,they appear in the Battle Tower where they can engage in tag-team Double Battles with the Player. This depends on which ones the player has already encountered. In addition to their roles Diamond and Pearl, in Platinum, they appear in the Battleground as potential Opponents. This also depends on which ones the players has encountered.
The stat Trainers also appear in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver as tag-team partners in the Battle Tower.

Anyway, my main question is, what did you like the idea of the stat trainers? Did you like helping them out in the various locations? Would you like to see this return in future games?
Out of the five stat trainers which one was your favorite/you like the best?

I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss.

Also, just a note. Although they do appear in HGSS, I put the DPPt title instead of the general 4th Generation title because they appear the most in DPPt.

This is definitely a good question :3! I found the concept of stat trainers interesting and I enjoyed their appearances in the game, it always made me satisfied when I helped one out and sometimes you get a nice reward in return as a thankyou gift! I would definitely love to see this return in future games and it's interesting how you pointed out that they specialise in a certain stat, I actually never realised that haha :3. They definitely however made great companions, I loved their personalities and designs, their teams were also interesting to fight with!

My favourite stat trainer? I don't honestly I think I have one but personality-wise, I think I particularly liked Cheryl, she was a kind, warm-hearted woman who I found hard not to love, her appearance definitely fits in with Eterna Forest, with plenty of green which could resemble nature, trees, plants, etc.

I also loved the others, they were special in their own way although I think my least favourite was probably Marley, she seemed a bit out of place and awkward in the game for some reason, why was she at Victory Road? Why didn't she ask other trainers for help? etc., but then again Mira was in a similar situation...but still her appearance wasn't one I was too fond of. Back onto favourites, I think my second choice would definitely be Riley, I've always liked characters with calm and cool personalities, over those with a heroic and reckless ones, in my opinion. And Riley seemed kind enough, he also has the bravery of a hero to stand up to Team Galactic so I admired that as well and also his suit is pretty cool! :D.

I actually liked this concept and how interesting it was, especially helping them out and the fact they started the trend of having a trainer follow you around for a bit, all wild battles with them being double battles and healing your Pokemon after every battle. Not to mention they give you something nice when you get them to the end.

They had cool designs, and I also liked their teams too.

My fave would have to be Marley, since she's wearing mainly black and white (duh, I love those colors) and her dress is really cool.

I like these concepts too. When I double-battle with them, they healed my Pokemon after the battle is over, so it is great! My favorite would be Riley.

This was one of the great features implemented into DPPt. I'm really intrigued by the concept behind them (being the that they specialise in certain stats), and I'd more than welcome more trainers like them in future games. My favourite out of the five would probably be Marley; I always thought she was the strongest and most skilled trainer out of the bunch.

I used to hate having them follow me around but now, I realise that they give good training experience XD

Yep, I kinda like 'em. All of their designs is actually good imo and tbh, I like Riley the best! Why? Lucario ofc and I like physical attackers more than special attackers.

I like how you get free healing from the stat trainers after each battle. But what's annoying about them is that they tend to KO the Pokémon you may be trying to catch.

In terms of looks, I like Riley and Cheryl.

I liked the idea, was hoping they'd implement it a bit more in BW then they did, but nonetheless it was a good feature. It was especially cool seeing them all in the Battle Tower, each with their own separate teams (something not in BW). It was great for when you didn't feel like doing a standard double battle and wanted to spice things up.
I actually never noticed the stat bit though. xD
