COMPETITIVE BATTLING CENTER RULES
Welcome to PokéCommunity's Competitive Battling Center! This forum allows you to get advice for your competitive battling and in-game teams, organize battles and tournaments with other members of the community, and interact with PC's competitive battling community. Of course, it is important that everyone is familiar with the rules so everyone can enjoy the forum, which is what this thread is for. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact any of CBC's moderators: Wolflare or Luke.

[a id]basics[/a id]
THE BASICS
— Follow all PokéCommunity Rules.

— Don't ask for battles or post tournaments, clans, leagues, etc. in the main forum.
Things of that nature go in the Tournaments & Events sub-forum.

— You may only post competitive teams in the main forum.
If you want help with an in-game team, post in the In-Game Team Help sub-forum. Keep in mind that Battle Subway/Frontier/Tower teams are considered in-game as well.

— The main forum is for "rate my team" threads (RMTs), battle logs, and discussions.
If you have a simple question or request, use the Simple Q&A Thread sticky at the top of the forum. More information about what it is used for is inside the thread.

— Insulting, flaming, or generally being disrespectful or rude to another member will NOT be tolerated.
Due to CBC's turbulent history, there is a special emphasis on respect here. Don't be afraid to report any post that you think violates this rule!

POSTING TEAMS
— Teams must include six Pokémon, along with their item, ability, nature, EV spread, and four moves.
If you cannot think of how to fill a few item or move slots, that's fine, but teams must be mostly complete or they will be locked. Just keep in mind that you may post in the Simple Q&A Thread if you need team building advice. Additionally, if you have no idea what EVs are, it would be best if you read this article. If you are unsure what movesets to give your Pokémon, find some on Smogon, and change them to your liking. Please use something resembling the following format when listing each Pokémon:

Pokémon @ Item
Ability (if required)
EVs
Nature
- Move 1
- Move 2
- Move 3
- Move 4

— You must be willing to change anything or take constructive criticism.
The purpose of this forum is for people that are seeking help with competitive Pokémon. If you only want to hear positive comments, do not post. Shooting down all advice will likely result in an infraction and certainly the thread being locked.

— Descriptions are not required, but are strongly recommended for experienced battlers.
If raters do not have any insight about how your team works, their rates will be unlikely to have your team's synergy and strategy in mind. For that reason, descriptions are encouraged, but it's not the end of the world if you can't think of anything to say.

RATING TEAMS
— It is important not just to identify weaknesses but to offer solutions on how to fix them.
No one wants to see "this team is Gyarados/Salamence/Tornadus/metagame weak 2/10," so please make sure to make an effort to improve the team and fix the weaknesses that you notice.

— Explain yourself when rating.
Saying "this team is Reuniclus weak, use Jirachi" is not very helpful. Explain why the weaknesses that you identify exist and then explain why your suggested changes will fix them. It is not required, but rates aren't helpful without some kind of explanation to support them.

— No rating rates.
You are allowed to respectfully disagree with any rate posted, but remember that this forum is for rating teams, not rating rates. If you think that someone else's suggestion will not work, make one yourself to keep the ball rolling or else the original poster will be left out in the cold.

— Don't mini-mod.
If there are any posts that are SPAM, unhelpful, or poor attempts at trolling, you don't need to post commentary about it; just report the post. It will save everyone a lot of time.

— Don't post about how a team is unoriginal, boring, filled with too many standards, etc.
People can use whatever they want. This forum is not for arguments about how unoriginal people are or anything like that. If you post things like that, expect your post to be deleted and a potential infraction to come your way as well.

[a id]battlelogs[/a id]
BATTLE LOGS
— Make sure that your Battle Log has comments and has been aesthetically touched up before posting.
Battle Logs that have no comments or a sloppy format to where they are practically incomprehensible will be locked.

— Be sure to select battles that are packed with suspense and showcase good playing by both players.
This won't be enforced too much, but if you post a 6-0 sweep where your Gyarados gets in 6 Dragon Dances on a Suicune and then sweeps, expect your thread to be locked.

— Battle Logs will be showcased in the Battle Log Archive as long as they meet the above requirements.
You may choose the Pokémon sprite and write the description if you would like, but try to keep it consistent with what is already in the Archive!

PC'S POKÉMON ONLINE SERVER RULES
The old rules were stuck in 2009. Even though the rules themselves are mostly the same, some old favorites like the "no Magikarp jokes" have been removed and the tone is hopefully a little less belligerent. Once again, if you have any questions, feel free to contact any of CBC's moderators: Wolflare or Luke.

— No trolling.
This is very simple, just don't troll! A mod will tell you if you're being over the top or bothering everyone on the server with a friendly message, a kick, or a mute. We want the server to be a laid back environment, so we really don't want to have to enforce this much. It's here because trolling isn't edgy, it's just annoying.

— Respect each other.
Playful teasing has been a part of the culture on the server for a long time, but don't cross the line! We have definitely had problems with playful banter becoming abusive or not-so-playful in the past, and that's not okay. Regardless of battling experience or seniority or any of that, everyone deserves to be treated with respect.

— No porn.
I really hope I don't have to explain this one! Even though the server has a more mature feel than the forums, this is still not okay!

— English only in the main chat.
It's not that you can't say "adios" before leaving but more that you can't have conversations in other languages because the only language most of our members are fluent in is English.

— No complaining about hax.
You are playing a game that has a lot of luck involved, and if you can't accept that and must abuse members who get good luck to make up for the fact that you can't accept this simple truth, then you should leave. Hax is a part of the game, and complaining about hax is not only annoying but it often turns into a poorly disguised way of calling the opponent who "haxed" you a noob or something like that. People shouldn't have to apologize for every last critical hit in fear of getting verbally destroyed.

— No advertising.
Advertising is disruptive, annoying, and barely ever worthwhile, at least when it comes to advertising obscure forums no one has ever heard of. It's nothing personal, it's just that getting the main chat flooded with advertising is never fun.

— Don't ask for authority.
Similar to PC, we do not give authority or mods to random users or upon request. We will decide on our own who to give authority, and we have enough already.
