[PKMN FULL] Hoenn Grand Festival [CLOSING SOON] ✮ IC Thread

Emerald and his six companions are preparing for the trip to Slateport City from Dewford Island where the group has been taking a well earned break and maybe getting a tan. Emerald hated keeping his Pokémon cooped up inside of a Poké Ball but it was necessary to do so in order to heal them at the Pokémon Center.
"Come on out!" Emerald shouts as six Poké Balls sail through the air. Red beams of light materialize into Pokémon. First, Lotad, who leaps high into the air and lands on Emerald's head with a plop. Lapras appears on the shoreline, ready to travel the seas with Emerald once more. Espeon, his first and most beloved companion walks and places herself to the left of Emerald. Growlithe trots over to Emerald's right, hoping to impress Espeon. Lil' Lileep, extremely excited to explore the oceans, is already on Lapras, eager to set out. And Slakoth is still asleep... Emerald sighs and gently lifts the slumbering Pokémon and places him on his back, Slakoth's favorite bed. The group says goodbye to Dewford and set out to Slateport where the Grand Festival awaits them.

Emerald already decided which Pokémon would compete. Slakoth cant stay awake long enough so he isnt competing. Lapras and Growlithe conpeted in the last contest so it is only fair to let the others compete in this one.

Sailing through Route 109 on Lapras, Slateport City came into view. Landing on the beach, Emerald tells Lapras to wait there while he brings back some Soda Pops. Emerald had been to Slateport once before and the Soda Shop on the beach was his favorite and being friends with the owner got Emerald a discount. He walked back to where his Pokémon were relaxing and they all enjoyed a nice refreshing soda pop while pondering their next move. Emerald knew that Lileep wanted to visit the Oceanic Museum so perhaps they would go there next.

Good Old Slateport City!
The Adventures of Cabbage

"All passengers aboard the S.S Tidal, we have arrived in Slateport City! If you're a trainer in this year's tournament, please exit the ship. All remaining passengers, please hold on until we get to Battle Frontier! Thank you for riding with us!"

As Cabbage heard the announcements, she smiled. Her Castform cried in joy, mainly because she was sick of being stuck inside. With that, she exited her dorm and walked down across the ship until she reached the exit. There were already waves of trainers there, but she didn't mind a bit. As everyone was exiting, the sailor there kept saying good day. When Cabbage finally reached to the exit, the sailor greeted her too.

" Fine day Miss Cabbage. I'll tell Flinn that you made it safe and sound."

" Thanks Huey, but that's not necessary. I can just call my father from my Pokenav."

Huey grunted as Cabbage said this. Then he shook his head.

" Kids and your gadgets these days. Tell him I said hello and good luck on the tournament!"

Cabbage smiled. With that, she waved good bye to him as she got off. As she arrived at the harbour, she saw lots of reporters from different tv channels exclaim what an exciting day it was. This is too much, Cabbage thought. I'll just call my dad from the outside. With that, Cabbage weaved her way out of trainers, residents of Slateport, and the reporters as she made it out alive. Castform, not being too behind, was attracting a lot of attention from the residents. It wasn't until Cabbage heard all the cute talk that Castform was missing. Startled, she turned around and saw a little girl trying to hug her partner.

"Look at this pokemon mommy! It's so cute! I want it!"

Cabbage approached to the little girl with a smile.

"I see you like my Castform there."

The little girl nodded. She smiled and hugged Castform more.

" I want it! It's so cute!"

"Sure!"

Castform looked horrified as Cabbage said this. It wasn't until Cabbage winked at her that she understood.

"But, don't you want to see my other cute pokemon?"

The girl jumped up and down, causing for her to choke on Castform.

"Yes! More cute pokemon! I want more!"

She squealed and jumped around some more.

"Okay. Come on out!"

She summoned her Flygon and the dragon roared out loud. Horrified, the little girl let go of Castform.

"That's not cute! MOMMY!"

With that, the girl ran off crying. Cabbage smiled as Castform went right by her side.

"It's okay Castform. She won't harass us anytime soon. Thanks Flygon! Return!"

She returned her Flygon and as quickly as she could, she got outside. She could smell the ocean air. It almost smelled like home back at Lilycove. Speaking of Lilycove...

"Castform, let's go to the beach!"

Castform cheered. Cabbage knew her pokemon would appreciate it. After all, this is their tradition when visiting Slateport. I can call my dad later, Cabbage thought. Time for some sunbathing!

After a short nap in the sun, Emerald decided to take his cute Lil' Lileep to the Oceanic Museum, where ancient artifacts from the ocean floor were recovered. The Sea Lilly Pokémon was standing on the shore, slumbering gently as he rocked back and forth with the waves. Lapras was floating nearby, playing with some wild Starmy and Horsea who drifted around her. Espeon's pink fur moved in the breeze as sunlight bathed over her. Emerald reached over from his chair and gently scratched the top of her head.

"Can you watch over the others Espy, Im going to take Lileep to the museum"

Espeon tilted her head to the side to allow Emerald to scratch for a bit longer. She then nodded, stretched and layed back down.

Emerald then strode over to Lileep and gently shook him awake.
"You wanna go to the museum?"

Lileep shook his tentacles in excitement and wobbled over to where Emerald was standing. The pair started walking towards the museum. Emerald thought about his first visit to the museum, when Team Aqua showed up and attempted to steal some important parts of a ship from Captain Stern. Emerald and Espeon defeated the Team Aqua grunts and nothing was stolen. The museum actually made a great deal of money that day as all of the grunts had to pay the entrance fee.

Emerald opened the glass doors and the pair walked in where they were greeted.

"Welcome to the Oceanic Museum, The entrance fee is 50 Poké Dollars. Would you like to enter?"

"Yes, Thank you" Emerald reached into his pocket, withdrew a coin, and handed it to the receptionist.

"Please enjoy yourself" she said as Emerald turned his attention to Lileep who was already in front of one of the displays.

Emerald read the display. "Oceanic Minifact 1- Why is seawater blue?" "Light is composed of many colors. When light passes through water, most kinds of light lose color. However, blue light retains it's color, making the sea appear blue," When Emerald looked up, Lileep had already moved on to the next display.

Emerald glanced at the case Lileep was in front of. "Thats a fossil, just like you used to be"
Lileep looked briefly at Emerald then back at the case.

Suddenly, Lileep turned then dashed up the stairs. Emerald, startled, followed and soon discovered what Lileep had chased. Another Pokémon trainer had taken her Omanyte to the museum as well and Lileep hadnt seen another Fossil Pokémon in quite a while.

The trainer saw the Lileep and exclaimed "Aww, how cute!" as she rubbed Lileep's side. She turned to Emerald.
"Hi, my name's Crystal, your Lileep is adorable,"

"My name's Emerald, and thank you"

"Would you care for a battle?"

Emerald was about to decline the offer when he looked at the two Pokémon gleefully playing and he knew what Lileep would want.
"Sure, loser buys the winner a soda?"

"Deal. Make it two Sodas, Im kinda thirsty,"

Emerald chuckled as they walked outside. As the two trainers and their Pokémon took positions, people stood nearby to watch the battle.

"Ladies first," Emerald said as he gestured her to proceed.

"Alright then, Omanyte use Ice Beam!"

A small ball of blue light formed in front of Omanyte's mouth and shot towards Lileep.
"Lileep use Ingrain"

Roots grew all around Lileep's base as the Ice Beam hit. Emerald could feel the cold as it washed over Lileep.

"Recover!"

Icy mist still surrounded Lileep as he healed himself. Crystal, knowing that Ingrain will prevent Lileep from dodging yelled "Omanyte use waterfall"

Emerald smiled as the Pokémon sped towards the mist, enveloped in water. "Lileep, absorb the water!"

Crystal looked in amazement and shock as the water disappeared and Lileep looked better than ever.

"Use Giga Drain"

Now powered up by his storm drain ability, Lileep wrapped his tentacles around Omanyte and absorbed her energy. Omanyte fell to the ground exhausted.

"You did good Omanyte," Crystal said as she picked up her Pokémon.

She put Omanyte back down and Lileep walked over. The four then went to the Soda Shop. As Cyrstal was reachig into her backpack to buy the Sodas, Emerald gave the owner money and held up the bottles.

"A gentleman always pays," he remarked as he handed over two bottles.

"Thanks," She looked away so Emerald wouldnt be able to see her blushing.

The four walked over to Emerald's Pokémon and sat down. Espeon opened one eye, yawned, then closed her eye. The two trainers sat and watched as their Pokémon has some fun in the sun.

From Suntan To Irrational Battle

"Nothing like good old suntan. Right Castform?"

After a while of saying this, Cabbage peered up from her sunglasses just to see Castform playing at the edge of the water. She smiled, for she should be expecting this from her. But Cabbage had a plan. She got up and lifted up her sunglasses.

"Who wants some lemonade?"

Castform immediately looked up and ran towards Cabbage. Works every time, Cabbage thought to herself. As both walked into the mini bar, Cabbage stopped in her tracks. Could it be... Nah. It couldn't possibly be him... Not here.... Castform clearly saw her trainer lost in thought and saw him too.

"On the count of three, we walk out of here. Okay Castform?"

Castform nodded, and looked a bit disappointed about having no lemonade.

"1..."

Cabbage started walking backwards, making sure he did not see her.

"2..."

Luckily for Cabbage, he still wasn't looking at their direction. He was too entertained by whoever he was with.

"Three!"

They both ran like maniacs as they made it out the beach. Skip the lemonade, Cabbage thought.

Emerald sat down and ordered another soda.
"These things are going to be the death of me" he sighed as the owner handed him other soda.

"Dont die any time soon, you're good for business," retorted the owner.

He looked around. Business, had been good and the shop was able to invest in Lemonade and Fresh Water. The items were a big hit with Trainers, mostly because their Pokemon would never stop drinking them if they had their way. Emerald's addiction to Soda considerably helped. The shop was even able to send vending machines to the Unova region.

Emerald glanced at the clock. It was about time to get back to the Pokemon Center and maybe prepare for the festival.

As he turned and got up from the bar stool, Emerald caught sight of white ball floating away, a somewhat familiar ball. It must be a Pokemon. His curiosity peaked,Emerald followed.

As soon as they were far away from the beach, Cabbage and Castform stopped from running.There, Cabbage thought. That should put some distance between us. Then again, it's not like Slateport is a huge place. Now what...

All of a sudden, her Pokenav was ringing. Castform gave Cabbage a curious look. Cabbage pull it out and gulped when she saw who it was.

"Just great Castform. With all that running I forgot to call my dad."

She pressed the button to answer.

"Hi dad."

"Why haven't you called me yet? You arrived at least an hour ago."

Cabbage gulped. She knew she was in for trouble. Instead telling the whole truth, Cabbage lied.

"Dad, you know how Castform and me love sunbathing. I guess we let time fly. Sorry dad."

He sighed through the Pokenav. Then he responded.

"It's okay Cabbage. I understand. Anyway, are you getting ready for the festival?"

"Dad, you know me. I'm ready for anything with Castform by my side!"

"And to think you two didn't get along first... Oh well. I gotta go to work soon. Good luck in the festival. Make us Evergreens proud. Okay?"

"I promise dad. Bye!"

With that, Cabbage hung up. She sighed in relief. She looked at Castform.

" Let's go to the Pokemon Center. We need to take out some friends so we can train. That okay with you?"

Castform cried in glee. So it was settled then. Both of them walked inside and Cabbage headed straight to the computers.

Emerald had lost sight of his quarry. 'What was that,' he thought, 'O well, better get to the Pokémon Center and register for the Grand Festival before I forget.'

Emerald strolled through the Slateport Market on the way to the Pokémon Center. The first stall sold Poké Dolls and Emerald was tempted to buy one but he already had plenty at his secret base. Lotad seemed to love Poké Dolls, but thats a story for another day. Emerald walked over to the next set of stalls. On the right a lady was selling some TMs but Emerald never used them unless his Pokémon really wanted to learn the move. On the left was a man selling energy supplements.
'Probably a scam' thought Emerald but as he turned to walk away the Energy Guru's wife approached him.

"Wait!, Is that your Espeon?" She asked hurriedly

"Yes," said Emerald simply.

"Wait here," and with that the lady walked back to her stall and started rummaging through a trunk.

Espeon looked up at Emerald then back at the lady as she returned and handed a ribbon to Emerald.

"This is for your Pokémon, you both have earned it"

"Ummm, Thank you?"

"No, Thank you" and with that said she turned and walked back to the stall.

Emerald held his hand out to Espeon who then used Psychic to attach the ribbon to her shoulder. Puzzled, Emerald continued walking pass the stalls, ignoring the berry crush lady completely. He then walked straight to the Pokémon Center. It was getting late and Emerald didn't want to wait until tomorrow to register. Emerald and his Pokémon walked in and looked around. There were Trainers and Coordinators everywhere. All here either to participate or watch the Grand Festival. Emerald walked up to the counter where a Trainer was talking to Nurse Joy. It sounded like the trainer said her name was Solace. 'Shouldn't eavesdrop,' Emerald thought as he scolded himself. He looked to the side and saw some computers.
'I should call Professor Birch, let him know In in Slateport. My mom is probably worried too,'

As the trainer in front of him walked away, Emerald stepped foward.

"Im here to register for the festival. Here are my ribbons and my trainer card, My name's Emerald Constantine," Emerald handed the two items to Nurse Joy.

She took them. "Would you like a room to stay in during the duration of the festival?"

She handed back the ribbon case and trainer card as he replied, "No thanks,"

"Ok then, all set. You have been registered. The Festival starts soon. Dont miss it,"

"I wont, thank you,"

Emerald walked over to one of the booths with a computer. He could hear the sound of Pokémon being withdrawn as he dialed Professor Birch's number. The computer rang for a couple of seconds and then the Professor's face popped up on the screen.

"Hello, Professor"

"Why hello Emerald, how are you?"

"Fine, thanks, I just wanted to tell you Im in Slateport and registered for the Grand Festival. Could you tell my mom I said hi?"

"Sure thing Emerald, You know back in my day...
-5 Minutes Later-
and those were the good ol days,"

"Ok Professor, Bye"

Emerald hung up as Birch waved goodbye. Espeon looked up at Emerald and mewed hungrily.
"Lets get some food" he said to his Pokémon as he got up from the seat and left the booth.

Battling and Registration Please!

Now who to take out?, Cabbage thought. Flareon? Glaceon? Charizard? You know what, maybe this combo. Cabbage withdrew three pokemon and logged out.

"Castform, say hello to Torterra, Garchomp, and Dedenne!"

Castform cheered in glee. Then Castform nudged Cabbage towards the nurse. At first Cabbage looked quizzically at her but then realized what her partner meant. Then Cabbage smacks herself on the forehead.

"Duh. I completely forgot. I have to confirm that we are here, or else we won't be able to participate in the festival. Thanks Castform!"

She nodded and she went ahead first. Cabbage quickly followed behind her. Cabbage then was at the front desk and talked to the nurse.

"Excuse me nurse. I'm confirming my registration to participate in this year's festival. Here's my ID."

Cabbage pulls out her ribbon badge case and her trainer card to the nurse. She smiles as she confirms it, types something on the computer, and hands the items back to Cabbage.

"All done," the nurse says with a smile. "Would you like me to reserve a room for your stay?"

Cabbage considered this. She look to Castform and see if she minded. She just cried happily.

"Sure. Thank you nurse."

"Okay, I just need to confirm it...." The nurse typed on her computer again. "Done. Have a wonderful day and enjoy your stay in Slateport!"

Cabbage smiled at her as she put her things in her backpack. Then both Cabbage and her Castform exited out the center.

"What you want to do Castform? I'm fresh out of ideas."

Without a sound, Castform went towards the beach.

"Castform! Seriously?"

By the time Cabbage caught up, Castform was already at the entrance of the shop.

"You really want that drink, huh? Fine then."

Cabbage cheered as both walked inside. She walked up to the man. Cabbage pulled out some money in advance.

"Can I buy a lemonade and a soda pop?"

"Sure, just give me a minute. Meanwhile, help yourself to sit on a table."

Cabbage nodded and gave the man the money. Castform already was sitting on a table to the left.

"Dear me and this Castform..."

Cabbage went over there and sat on the table. A little while later the man came with their drinks.

"Enjoy!"

Then he left without another word. Cabbage was about to help herself to a drink when she heard a scream.

"MOMMY! There's that scary girl mommy!"

Uh oh, Cabbage thought. Now I'm in for it.

Dallas Reed: Beach

Dallas fell back in the sand and put his arms behind his head and closed his eyes to enjoy the beach. The sand was hot on his back, but it felt great. The sun was beating down on his already tan body form spending so much time in Hoenn. He had received 5 ribbons with an additional 6 badges. The the ribbons were from all over Hoenn. One was a black color with orange trim. Another was purple with red trim and red dots. Another was a solid orange color which was his favorite. He had light blue one with dark blue trim and squares. End his 5th was a ribbon that was a dark green that looked like a four lead clover with gold colored trim. He could hear the waves crashing on the beach and wingull and pelipper chirping above. He heard a girl yell that it didn't matter if a pokemon evolved or not. Which was very much true. Even some of his pokemon hadn't fully evolved. He leaned up and put his hands behind him to keep him up. He watched his pokemon play. Litleo, Skiddo, Pancham and Eevee were chasing one another. His Rufflet was flying around with the bird pokemon that flew over head and his Pikachu laid nearby, relaxing in a bath of sand. Of course, these were not his only pokemon. He had many other, he just didn't bring them all out.

"Why does this beach attract so many trainers?" He asked to himself.

He stood up, getting ready to go swim.

"Rufflet! Watch everyone ok! I am gonna go take a swim in the ocean!" He called to his bird pokemon.

'Ruf!' Rufflet chirped in agreement.

As he swam, he saw a few pokemon playing with a Lapras and it gave him an idea. He swam back to shore and pulled a few pokeballs out of his bag he had made so he could keep all his pokemon with him.

"Froakie, Empoleon, and Talonflame! Come on out and play!" He yelled.

Froakie and Empoleon appeared and quickly headed to water and jumped in to play with other pokemon. Talonflame took off in the air and started playing with the pokemon Rufflet was playing with. Rufflet and Talonflame had become close friends over their travels.

Before he got back in the water, he wondered if he had done everything.

"Let's see... I got my room... and I have already registered with Talonflame, Empoleon and Gardevoir. Yeah that everything, now lets go have some more fun!" He cheered to himself as he jumped back into the water.

After a while, he decided to bring all of his pokemon back in and go back to lay in the sand. Eevee was the only pokemon who did not return. Eevee usually was always out. Dallas never wondered why. After a few minutes, the little Eevee crawled onto Dallas's stomach and continued to sleep.

Should I face them? Or should I run? I really want to get ready and take a break before the festival, Cabbage thought. Before she could make up her mind, a lady pulled her up. Cabbage looked at her shocked and wide eyed.

"Look you trainer," the mother said with a hint of a snarl. "You trainers think you can do whatever you want her in Slateport City. Well no with me around. No buster! And scaring my daughter is pure cold."

Castform tried helping her trainer with a Fire Blast, but the mother summoned a Staraptor. Then the mother looked towards the Castform.

"Don't. You. Dare. Move."

Castform was stuck where she was. The mother smiled at Cabbage.

"Not so though now, right?" She smirked at Cabbage. "I'll teach you what's to be though..."

Cabbage didn't pay attention past there because she was busy trying to take out a pokeball from her waist. Please be Flygon, Cabbage thought. I need something to scare that lady up or she'll probably kill me here. All of a sudden, the mother stopped talking and saw Cabbage's hand on a pokeball.

"Oh no you're not!"

Then she slapped her hand, but it caused for a pokeball to fall out. It opened up and Cabbage smiled as she saw Torterra come out. The lady flinched but didn't looked scared. She had her Staraptor after all. But it was all Cabbage needed, because she fought the lady until she was free of her grasp. Behind her Cabbage saw the girl from before.

"MOMMY! There's a scary looking pokemon! Mom!"

Not this again. The lady looked madder as she saw her daughter wail again.

"You're just all talk. I bet you couldn't even win a battle."

Now it was Cabbage's turn to smirk. Emerald might be able to beat me with his friendship talk and all, but I have power and brutal force by my side.

"If you're not too much of a coward madame, I would like to take this outside."

The mother hugged and patted her daughter.

"It's okay sweetie. Stop trying. Mommy will teach that horrid girl a lesson. Want to see?"

Sniffing her tears, the little girl followed the two outside on the beach.

"3-3 battle, if you're not too scared."

"Says the women who harassed me," Cabbage said in a sing song way.

The comment obviously pissed off the mother, and Cabbage's Torterra and Castform were ready for battle. The Staraptor in the other hand was giving off his best intimidation pose. Cabbage smiled.

"Torterra, you don't mind being the first?"

Torterra walked up to Cabbage and gave a battle cry. Then he stood a few feet in front of Cabbage.

"You actually think you can win with that thing with Staraptor around?" The mother smirked and smiled as Staraptor flew towards Torterra. "Oh yeah, and if I win my little girl gets to keep your Castform."

Castform again looked horrified, but both Cabbage and Torterra gave her a reassuring look. The mother lifted up a hand and yelled:

"Staraptor, Brave Bird!"

Staraptor flew as hard and as fast as he could. Cabbage was ready though.

"Torterra, shield yourself with Stone Edge!"

Torterra unleashed his attack and Staraptor took some heavy damage when he collided with the rocks. Staraptor looked angry and mad at Torterra.

"Staraptor, use Fly!"

Staraptor nodded and he flew so high that Cabbage knew that Stone Edge won't hit him. But that doesn't mean she's gonna waste this turn.

"Torterra! Use Razor Leaf around you!"

Torterra used Razor Leaf and manage to make all the leaves go around himself. The mother smiled and smirked.

"What good will that do little girl? Stopping me with rocks is one thing, but leaves? Ha ha!" She laughed in an ugly and hysterical way. "Staraptor! Strike down at Torterra!"

Cabbage smiled as Staraptor came to Torterra. True that she can't stop this attack, but she can do something about it. As Staraptor was gaining on Torterra, Cabbage screamed her command.

"Use Iron Tail on the leaves now!"

As Staraptor hit Torterra, Torterra slapped the leaves towards his way. Even though the poor Torterra took massive damage, he went on slapping the leaves. Staraptor at first was fine but after a few more hits, he looked exhausted.

"Staraptor, finish him off with Close Combat!"

As Torterra finished slapping the leaves, Staraptor came towards his way.

"Torterra! Get him now with Stone Edge!"

At the same time Staraptor started punching Torterra, he hurled the rocks towards the birds face. He took quite a hit from the move, but Torterra went on flinging the rocks. Finally Staraptor dropped hard to the ground and when the lady told him to get up, he lied in the sand. She then growled.

"Coordinator tricks in your sleeve, eh? Well that ain't gonna work in Slateport."

"And Lilycove can't do the same?"

She look furious as she returned Staraptor and had a new ball in her hand. Hopefully it is something Torterra can beat easily, because one more hit and he's a goner. Maybe if I switch him out... No. That's not my style. I have to make the most of it, Cabbage thought.
