So while the idea of the other balls possibly returning was mentioned a little in the other thread speculating on new PokeBalls, what wasn't discussed was the master of all balls. Yes, the Master Ball! So in previous games it has been seen as a prize for trading with over 50 or over 100, icr, given by a professor, assistant, found, through raffles, or through in-game lottery. In which ways would you like to receive it in these games? Do you like the idea of being given it by someone evil, or by someone for good reasons, or even to stop a legendary? Or would you like more raffles, or perhaps the chance of it occurring more in raffles or the original trainer number lottery to return? Or would you like the trading one? Or do you think the Master Ball should be rare given it has such great power. Share your thoughts/desires!

I've never touched lucky with the raffles so I never really bother, I like how it was implemented in RSE in which one youve cleared out Team Aqua from their hideout you reach the final room where you can take the Masterball. It's like battling through a heap of trainers and then stepping on different warp tiles to reach it which is fun!

Actually, I'd the master ball to play a role... sort of like the Hyrule Master Sword from Legend of Zelda; sort of like, a "sacred item" that can help save the world or something! I mean, it's the ultimate pokeball; sometimes I feel you can get it a -tad- too easy. Well, if not that, then yeah, it'd be logical if the professor gives it to you~

As for raffles, maybe! I don't think there's serious issue with the raffles though; maybe there can be more, buuut yeah!

i was thinking the same thing, like the main legendary is on a rampage or enhanced by the evil team, making it impossible to catch, and the master ball is the only thing that can stop it.

That would be nice, unless the player wants to use the master ball to catch a roaming legendary, then they would be upset if they were forced to use the master ball to catch that main legendary.

From previous games, I've known that they've been either given out from someone evil or just found somewhere.

It would actually be good if the game had only 2 Master Balls in the game to collect. I would be speculating that the locations of the Master Balls would first be from the Team's leader, like it was in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. While the other one would be from a lottery system in where if one of your ID numbers of your Pokémon matched the ID number they have weekly, then a Master Ball would be given out, like it was in Gold/Silver/Crystal.

Having more than two Master Balls in the game makes the game much too easy, that's why I think there should only be two Master Balls in the game.

^and they are both purple

It'd be nice if the Master Ball would have some story behind it. I'm kind of wondering why this ball is the ultimate capture device and why it's not more wide-spread if it's so ultimate. I realise very well that it would totally ruin the fun and excitement of venturing out and careful battling before successfully hearing the victory tune.
But following general logic, if it's so ultimate, why not more widespread?
I'd be nice if they could somehow link the Master ball to an old civilisation and their legends (about which other threads are speculating).

I never use my Master Balls so it doesn't really matter. I would however, like it if the president of the Silph Co. made a cameo to give it to you personally in order defeat the evil team and the legendary Pokémon in their control. I'd also like the lottery to make a return.

I've always reserved the Master Ball for use on roaming legendaries (Though I can proudly say that I've caught every roaming legendary to-date without the Master Ball at least once during a play through).

Personally, the idea of receiving such a potent catching device from an ally seems...anti-climactic. Why? Well, because you'd have to figure, you're a kid that just started his or her journey and you're gifted this PokeBall that can capture any Pokemon without fail by someone with years of experience and expected to use it to stop a rampaging legendary. It just seems very bland. Why would someone with experience trust such a powerful item to a newbie Trainer (Although you are often deemed to be much more experienced when you actually receive it) when they can simply use it themselves?

I'd much rather have the item be placed in one of two locations:

1) The base of the evil organization, like in R/S/E. Then it would technically make more sense since you're taking a powerful weapon away from the enemy that they could otherwise use to bend the legendary being they summon to their will (Honestly, I expected this if the Master Ball wasn't taken in R/S/E.)

2) In an abandoned lab/unexplored cavern. Why? Because that would make the item optional to receive in location and coincidence. I'd like it to be in an abandoned lab that's hinted at in the game and which you can later visit (Either right before the climax of the game's story, or after the credits roll) and discover that the Master Ball was the result of a scientist's research to capture any Pokemon.

I'd also like to see some back history on the Master Ball. In R/B/G, we know that the Ball is manufactured by Silph. G/S/C continues this since it is connected to Kanto. However, we are not given any explanation as to how the Master Balls are distributed, how many are produced, or how they are obtained by the people they are obtained by.

I'd like to think that each regional professor is given a Master Ball as a sort of token for their pursuit in cataloging Pokemon and that the Master Ball only ever enters the hands of criminals because they have illegally obtained the blueprints for the Ball's design.

As long as it's not like in RSE where you find it randomly in some place like the enemy's base, I'm fine with anything.

Anyway, the Master Ball catches anything without fail, but, quoting Cyrus, it's not something I require. All my Master Balls since RSE have never been used. Last time I used it, it was on Suicune in Gold version.

Saving them for roamers doesn't make sense. In Platinum there's, like, five roamers (Mesprit, Cresselia, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres). Better learn how to catch them without the Master Ball and keep the Ball as a treasure. In a way, it's like the Sacred Ash that comes with Ho-Oh.

Hmm, the Master Ball is just about perfect as it is. It is an amazing item, but not something many of us need or use. Getting one, maybe two if you are lucky is about right and the locations that you have got them so far have been right as well.

I am in love with RedWing's idea of a secret laboratory! Having it be an optional item would be cool.

I just really don't want the Masterball to have any correlation with an evil team. I know some people disagree, and that's okay, but it was a little pet peeve of mine when Cyrus (?) of all people have you the Masterball; similar situation with Team Aqua/Magma's hideout.
