Hey, so on our family PC, all internet browsers are able open up but then crash within 30 seconds, we alleviated the problem for about 3minutes by uninstalling FF3. I've run norton multiple times and its found nothing, does anyone know what's causing this?

I'm a mac guy so I've got absolutely no idea what's causing this.

I'm not sure what would be causing that specifically but I'd recommend a second opinion over Norton. Some of the best software I've ever used for these purposes is actually called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and can be downloaded here, completely free. Check for any updates and then just let the full scan run. It's worked wonders for fixing my mom's computer.

If you're a mac and not know what's causing the problem, you probably have several viruses.

And I bolded the problem for you. You must get rid of that problem or at least configure it's allowed and blocked list

I would suggest seeing if the problem persists in Safe Mode (Safe Mode w/ Networking).

To get into Safe Mode, just mash the F8 key a bunch of times until you get a selection screen when you begin booting your machine.

That would be useful to diagnose the problem but it seems as though he definitely has a virus (and one similar to one which my mom had recently at that). My guess, at this point, is that there would be no issue in Safe Mode.

I know norton's absolute crap, but I've no way to get anything better on the computer as of now, seeing as I cannot get on the internet on that PC. I'll attempt safe mode as a way to see what's up.

And I forgot to add this but system restore will also not work, as it says after attempting it that it could not be completed.

And if this is a virus, how would I go about locating it on the PC or am I doomed to wipe and reinstall?

(I'm writing these from my personal iMac)

How would I go about getting it on the my PC then? I'm a nub when it comes to these things. Do I find the .exe file and run it over on the PC?
