I think that everyone should at least invest some time into hacking the game (or at least learn how to hack) before creating a thread. [/rant]

Are you trying to insinuate that I haven't hacked before? Because that would be a lie.

And, um, I'm not insulting you. I'm complaining about new hackers in general. Re-read that before I begin my rant here.

It's just.. well, how would you like it if someone came in through everything you've hacked before, and messed it all up? Y'know, scribbled all over your maps, cut and pasted parts of your scripts, and then threw up all over your sprites and then put that into a game?

That's how I feel most new hackers are like, nowadays. They don't want to find out anything on their own; they want to be force-fed information. And, they don't take time to figure out how to do things right. I've seen far too many people who think that editing with A-Text and making square maps is hacking.

My main problem with your statement (that last one) was that you were still learning. Why not wait to make a thread about it until you were sure of what you're doing? Hell, if everyone here was required to do that, we could be much better off than we are now.

I also want you to know that the majority of that was not directed at you. I really don't enjoy being -repped for voicing an opinion.

I apologize that my comments have caused you so much internal heartbreak, but I think that they should be shoved in every new hacker's face. As a community, we aren't going to get any further without people willing to go all of the way; people who want to learn how to do things by themselves; people who don't need other people to hack; people who can spell; and, most importantly, people who can hack for the fun of it, not for internet popularity.

Hmm..that's coming off as a bit jerkish to me. I agree to a point with you, Vrai, but good lord. You don't need to voice it. It's just a tad discouraging, don't you think? Everyone has a first hack. I'm sure yours was nothing special. I know mine wasn't. I didn't post it though, because I looked at Shiny Gold, and was immediately turned off from posting it. At least BrokenRoses has the courage to share his ideas. There are those arrogant/pompous hackers (like ME!!) who, even if their hack is horrid, will do whatever it takes to convince people otherwise. Perhaps he know how amazing it is, but doesn't want to release any information, keeping uncreative losers from stealing them. Personally, I think this is a pretty good idea, and I don't think you should yell JUST because he is in his beginning stages of romhacking. [/anger]

Well, I apologize once again for basically making this my "rant and let off steam" thread. >_>

I really don't want to discourage you from doing this, it's just that I would like to know that the hacking threads be of hacks I know are working hard and trying to do their best hacking away.

And yes, I can see your point that he could be hiding all of the wonders of his hacking supreme away from us. It just seems very unlikely that someone would not want to show off their skills to the world.

And btw, my first hack was (and is) Rebirth. I've been actually hacking it for 4-5 months now, and I've been planning everything out with my friends for about a year and a half. And, I won't stray from Rebirth until I'm done with it.

I hope you can see what I mean. I'm going to not rant over here anymore, and maybe when you add more content to this, I'll give you an entirely honest opinion without rants. M'kay?
