The game is set in america, so while it will have some common pokemon liniages like Pidgey and Rattata, the majority of Pokemon will be new and fairly contemporary. Legendaries will be derived from real life american legends like the Jersey Devil or the Sasquatch, things like that.

There would also be variations of existing pokemon, much like how two pokemon in Gen 4 had different coloring in different areas, the aforementioned ratata and Ratacate or Pidgey liniages might be modified a bit to reflect the distance in relation.

The environment would also be substantially more gritty then the bright and shiny world of Pokemon in Japan. In the USA, (We're only focusing on the midwest esque area)

I also thought instead of the game starting with the character at home that he'd be in a class on Pokemon in the university, recieving his first pokemon. (Like you think a training preemptive course would be required! An element of the manga I sorely miss.)

That's about all the spheal I have. Hope I can get someone interested in this.

Hack name: Pokémon Soleanna

This is an idea I just thought of, but I have no idea of how to even attempt a hack, so sadly I will never get to play it

Anyway, the region is Soleanna and you are a boy or girl who has just turned 16, living in a town of which i've yet to name. There is a new lab in the town which is currently being built and you have new neighbours moving in. Your mum says that you and her should go and introduce yourselves.

You leave your house and see a removal van outside the house next door and a woman in the front garden, you go over to talk to her and she tells you about how they have moved from Isle Delfino as her husband, who is a professer is moving to the new lab. You then meet her 16 year old daughter and 8 year old son in the house. The daughter tells you how her father is in another town after hearing about a sighting of a rare pokemon (I would like suggestions as to which pokemon this will be, it'll be your second pokemon as you will not recieve any pokeballs until you meet the Professer). Whilst talking to your new friend, your mum calls you to say that your Nan has a birthday present for you.

So you go to your Nans cottage by the pond and see her outside looking into the pond. You talk to her, and she gives you a Dratini. You go back to town to tell your Mum, and then your new friend comes round to tell you that she is on her way to the next town to meet her father so she can recieve her first Pokémon. You offer to go with her as it wont be safe for her to go through the tall grass without a pokemon...

thats all I have for now and I may have got slightly carried away :D

Additional information about the hack: this game takes place after hoenn. but before sinnoh was ever known. so you only have the first 386 pokemon. you start out as a new trainer in a new town (no town name yet) in a region called chikyuu (japanese for earth) with new gym leaders and maybe some old gym leaders may be part of the new gym leaders not sure yet. there is a evil gang trying to catch legendary pokemon. the new gang is a old evil gang we are know and love or hate. team rocket. jessie and james are at it again. so after meeting the professor (unknown name) and getting a scyther from him or her. (still not sure yet). you go out on your pokemon advance. but you don't know about team rocket being in chikyuu until later after the first gym battle

As Ash and May leave Hoenn, a new family moves in. the Soliks. They moved here from Sinnoh and sadly, its not a good thing. Now as their son, Gage, runs out, he finds a hidden forest he cannot enter due to a very dense forest. But he has never cheated his instincts before, so he gets into the forest with all his force. as he enters the forest and runs near a freshwater lake, he hears leaves rustling. so he runs over and there, in the open, floating happily, Mew-X. Mew-X is from another world, with its skin as dark as the night sky, it dissapears in one instant. Gage, in shock, runs to his friend, Vinny's House just on the brim of the forest. He tells Vinny, who believes him. But nobody else in the town will believe the two boys. Gage runs out to the field just outside of his house to find professor Rim being attacked by a small dog. Gage takes the chance to get a pokeball in the professors bag and use the pokemon inside to help Professor Rim. Professor Rim gives Gage the pokemon as a gift and says, "Gage. go out and defeat the Type team in every city(gym leaders), and defeat the Elite ones and the supreme master of all, Damien. As Gage runs out to the store after helping Professor Rim, he faces a totally new challenge! Two Evil Clans that go by the name of Team Dimension And team Terror. Gage, Following his great instincts again gets sucked into the fight, and fends off both teams. As they run away in fear, Gage has a great idea. Follow the teams around Hoenn and Destroy them. Gage will run into every challenge possible defeating the Type Team, The Evil Clans and finding out the mystery of Mew-X.

Additional information about the hack: Trying for a very different feel. New pokemon, lots of major and minor changes, heavily puzzle based.

Your hacking skills: Best at planning and design, with lots of experience. Partly colorblind, so nearly useless for spriting. Can fillerbunny any other role, but won't be as good as a good person at it.

What help or skill you're looking for: Any kind of help is fine. In particular, I need someone who can make good looking fakemon, and a talented scripter (some of what I want to do, I'm not even sure can be done).

Additional information: Just to give a hint of how this game is different...I'm taking out the HMs and gyms. HM moves will still exist as TMs, but the functions will either be assigned to key items or I will see if it is possible to give pokemon that would have these moves innate ability to use them (IE: all pokemon that could use a HM move will have its out-of-battle effect without needing to be taught anything). Gyms will be replaced with some ancient ruins...and maybe some gym-like contests here and there. I'll also be investigating the possibility of changing the way battle works, so that you'll be able to make choices in defense as well as attack (it probably won't be the "Inturrupt Counter" system I once proposed...but we'll see). Some D/P pokemon will be added, including "Leafeon"...which is getting renamed something less stupid (leaning towards "Arboreon", but open to suggestions). Expect the Regi's to play a role in the storyline.
