Just to clarify:
  • Red and Green are released in Japan
  • Blue is released in Japan with updated graphics, new encounters, and a few other differences
  • Red and Green are remade with Blue's updated graphics and other differences, and are released outside of Japan as Red and Blue. Japan does not get these games.
  • Yellow is released everywhere, again with even newer graphics and other differences.
This is how I think it is anyway.

Im almost positive Gold and Silver were released during the GBC but as a regulat Game Boy game. The bcks didnt have the bulge and I think only say gameboy. Crystal bulges and says gameboy color. If I remember correctly.

Yes. It's called Pokemon Blue. The US Blue version is identical to the Japanese Green version.

Look it up online. It's actually pretty cool, since the original japanese pokemon actually has completely different sprites then our red and blue.

^ And worse ones for the most part haha.

Apart than the sprites, there are a few other small differences between Green and Blue. A few of the major bugs were ironed out (Such as the glitch which teleports you straight to the Hall of Fame from Pallette Town), and also I believe you get Mew upon 100% completion of the Pokédex in Japan whereas in Blue you get a certificate which you can print out - short straw, much?

Anyone know how to get the Water Stone, Thunder Stone, and Moon Stone in Crystal? I know the first two require getting some numbers, but I can't remember who and where they are. As for the Moon Stone, I read Ruins of Alph, but I'm not sure.

Water Stone - Fisher Tully, Route 42 - or show Bill's grandfather Staryu or Marill (not sure which)
Thunderstone - Lass Dana, Route 38 - or show Bill's grandfather a Pichu
Bill's grandfather lives in the Sea Cottage at the end of Route 25. You can only get one of each stone per game from him.

Moon Stone:
Mt. Moon Square, watch the Clefairy dance each Monday at 20:00, and again each Tuesday at 04:00. It will be under a rock that you have to Rock Smash.
Ruins of Alph, southeastern chamber (you don't need to go to Union Cave), go face the writing on the back wall and have a Pokémon use Flash. A room will open up, and you can find a Moon Stone in there.
Mom might buy it for you occasionally.

Super-simple question: In G/S, when you headbutt trees at night, will all the daytime Pokemon you encounter be asleep? It caught me a bit by surprise when a sleeping Spearow somehow attacked me.

Wish I'd realized it before I had all the tree Pokemon, I wouldn't have even bothered during the daytime. xD Free status condition!

In Pokemon Red/Blue, they had Stat Exp. instead of EV's. Is there a list anywhere that tells you how much stat exp. you get from defeating each Pokemon?

I think I remember a bunch of formulas for things like that in Red on here, though I never got around to reading them all the way through.

There's a lot to say about that glitch, so I suggest looking at http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mew_glitch.

To do the Mew Glitch:

1. Avoid Youngster next to Nugget Bridge (Has a Slowpoke)
2. Avoid Gambler next to Saffron City that's facing north.
3. Have Fly.
4. Go underground from Celadon to Lavendar, stopping as soon as you leave the house without taking any steps and save.
5. Take one step down and immediately hit start. If you do it right, you'll open the start screen, but the guy will see you. Fly to Cerulean. Note: your start menu won't be able to open.
6. Hunt down the guy with a Slowpoke. Note: he has to take a step towards you, he can't see you and battle without moving. After the battle, your start screen will work again.
7. Fly to Lavendar Town.
8. Try to leave towards Saffron. Your start menu will automatically open, and when you close out, you'll fight Mew.

Does anyone know of a website that tells base stats for pokemon in Red/Blue/Yellow? Every site I find just has the new stats (with Special Atk. separate from Special Def.). Or, does anyone know if there's a way to calculate the old Special Stat from the new stats?

Without a cheating device, you can't do it in-game. If you haven't found a site that lists their exact stats, there probably isn't one. However, you could try asking ROM hackers about it; maybe they could extract some information for you.

Hey, quick question:
Can anyone VM me a link to a list of events for the Color/Metal games? Serebii doesn't have a list. I know there are a few- a cousin of mine said he had a Klondike Mew from Edmonton's Klondike days a few years back. Thank you in advance.

Just wondering, was encountering Ho-oh and Lugia completely optional in G/S/C??

I know in Crystal Suicune was forced...and in the remakes you have to encounter them before the Elite 4. However, I don't know about the originals...

Optional IIRC. In fact, I'm pretty sure I never caught Ho-oh in the end.
