Review: First thng I noticed is that it's really scrunched up. No a whole lot of space. Some ledges isn't needed n tha map, and just cause more non-free space ta move. And thare's also a dead end, and you git stuck. =\ Probably coz you gots stuck on how ta make it a non-dead end, but you didn't know how ta make it coz of tha lack of space.
Suggestions: Make more space n yo map. Wit that, everythng else can be easily fixed. =P

Well, dis is a pretty nterestng map, glad ta rate.
Review: First of all, I thnk that mnibeach around tha very edges is much tao straight. What knd of beach is perfectly straight? It's tha sbee wit tha outmost mountan, tao straight. I like tha tree tiles, but tha ordnary FR/LG tiles (ncludng tha mountans and water) look really out of place. I like that hizouse, it goes well wit tha trees, but agan, all tha FR/LG tiles look out of place wit it. I suggest you chose eithar one style or anothar.
Last, that cave doesn't make much sense. It's a dead end! What's tha pont of that?
Suggestions: Pick one style or anothar. Make tha outmost mountan and beach more natural and less straight. And do somethng bout that dead end.

That maps is pretty sweet. Tha route itself looks very funky ass, and, when it comes down ta it, looks pretty playable, at that. I don't particularly like tha way that you've done tha trees, but, snce it doesn't detract from tha playability, I can't really complan, eithar.

Tha playability is very wonderful. Thare seems ta be plenty of stuff ta do and explore, although it might be a little tao big, and tha grass patches is defnitely so. Maybe you could shrnk some of tham so tha player doesn't have as much trouble walkng through tham? :D Otharwise, though, a tap-notch map.

One last thng, though; tha lights look a bit out of place at tha bottam. Maybe a shade lighter?

Reason: Tao dawgy grasses :\ It seems that u'll run nta a pokemon every step. Plus it's tao shawt.... tha player could hardly move! Tha trees don't look natural as thay seem if you look at a real foest. Tha ledges lead ta a dead end... I liked how you placed tha rocks and flowers though

Review: Fo starters, its a funky ass little tawn. Tha palette is also pretty good, albeit a tad plan. I like tha hizouse on tha far right, it looks pretty cool, but tha purple hizouses is a little ugly. Hizouse and object placement is very good, and it is up ta tha standards of a Pokemon gbee.

However, it has one flaw. It is just a little tao plan. Now, that may not be a bad thng if you were gong fo a simple lookng tawn, but all n all, it's a slightly borng map.

I like tham, but tha grass n tha first one bothars me. Usually, thare is never grass n a tawn, unless fo an event or such. Beggnng tawns arn't ussually that big, wit so little hizouses anyway. Tha mountan is a little squis as well, like tha tree fomation, fo mah likeng but ovarall, it's a funky ass lookng, and shows that you don't need a fancy rombase ta spruce up yo spheal :)
Ovarall: 6/ 10
Suggestions: Remove tha wild Pokemon grass, make it a bit shawter, add some more trees and make tha mountan more natural.

As fo tha second one... Sbee general ideas. Tha trees is squis and looks unnatural, and though tha mountan looks a bit better than tha othar one, it still needs work. Thare should be no one-tile paths, such as down tha right of tha mountan, and thare is less grass here than thare was n tawn.
Ovarall: 5/ 10
Suggestions: More natural tree spacngs, make tha mountan more natural. more grass and make tha mountan a bit shawter

So, it's call Seasaur Port, and it's tha startng tawn. Tha player arrives via tha port ta see his/ her mothar after spendng two years wit thair fathar n Kanta, and thay is asked ta git a Pokemon off Professor Rex. Thay than musy heezee over tha mountan ta git nta tha dawg region.

Tha cave is guarded by a po-podawg who deems it unstable ta go n. You can't git back on tha boat at tha port, coz Salior Sean tha 'captian', crashed it after you hopped off XD

First of all, let me sez that tha tiles is bootylicious. It's cool tha way thare's water, than a beach, than a shawt tawn near a mountan. It really flows naturally from one element ta anothar. It has good usage of space, tao. It has some tile errors near tha water, but I'll give it 9/10.
Suggestions: Fix tha tile errors.

Thanks, but unfotunatly fo me, tha rom I was workng on it wit started ta mess up and I had ta delete it :(. I'm workng on anothar one, and it's a shbee snce I had already buggine three maps fo tha spheal.

Anyway's here is what WAS gong ta tha first route, but... you know.

Review: Mm, you don't see maps like dis much anymore. Dis remnds me of mah early days of mappng. Alrighty, I'll git right ta tha ratng.

Tha first error that I spotted (very quickly, mnd you) was tha glarng issue of playability. Fo a good deal of tha map, tha player is confned ta one, maybe two tiles of walkable space. While dis makes fo very beautiful maps, it can be a pan n tha ass when it comes time ta play through tha map n-gbee. Caves, much like water routes, actually benefit from an excess of empty space. While you don't want ta leave large isas of un-featured dirt everywhere, open spaces make a map considerably more annoyng (which, n mah opnion, is one of tha major goals n makng a cave map). Wit outdoor routes, tha player always has a good idea of where thay're supposed ta go coz tha trees shape out tha possible paths. But on water routes and n caves, thare is often isas wit no scenery and every direction is a possibility. Though yo use of dead ends and a maze-like layout certanly makes thngs annoyng, it couldn't hurt ta space thngs out a bit more.

Anothar thng that I noticed was that yo dead ends isn't nearly long enough. Unfotunately, coz of tha nature of tha GBA, tha player will be nfomed that some of yo paths is dead ends befoe thay actually enter tham. Dis is a problem coz tha whole idea behnd dead ends is ta frustrate tha player by makng tham takes unnecessary steps and possibly encounter an extra wild pokémon that thay otharwise would have avoided. If dis map is dark (Flash-usable) than dis might not be such a problem but you didn't mention that n tha Comments so I'm assumng that it isn't, n which case dis should probably be fixed.

Othar than that, thare isn't a whole lot else that I can complan bout. It's been a while snce I've seen a mapmaker spend so much time focusng on tha little details and I have ta sez it's a refreshng change that I could certanly git used ta. Though if we're rapng bout details, a little trick that I like ta use, and that I didn't see you use, is ta have sand "dribble" over a layer or two (or three) of mountans. If you can, I thnk it'd be a funky ass tauch ta see some sand on those non-walkable levels.

Suggestions: Add some sand ta tha higher levels, add some paddng ta those walkways, make tha dead ends a little longer. Yeah, that's all I can really thnk of. Keep up tha excellent work!

Map Gbee: Pokémon Emerald Version

Comments: Dis one's different. I wanted ta do somethng special fo mah 1,000th post but tha only thng that I could thnk of (that didn't require a lot of plannng) was ta post a map. I noticed that I hadn't buggine a new map n almost a year so I wanted ta see if I still had it n me. I didn't want ta make just any old map, though. So I challenged mahself ta create a fully Nntendo-styled map. I've always liked mah style of mappng coz I feel like it's a funky ass balance between natural- and Nntendo-styled mappng but until dis map, I had yet ta give full-on Nntendo-styled mappng a concentrated effot. So basically, tha idea behnd dis map was ta ta try ta git as close ta a real, Nntendo (or Gbee Freak, if you prefer) map as possible. N tha process, I learned that Nntendo maps isn't defned by "squisness" or empty space. Thare's so much more ta tham and that's tha essence that I tried ta capture wit dis map.
If you're gong ta rate it, pleaze only rate it on how accurately I emulated tha Nntendo style. I only want criticism on how well I did n that regard.

Well, GbeeFreak's maps hardly stray out of ben dead straight at all; that's defnitely somethng you should rectify if you wish ta use dis mappng style.


N tha part where you have that shawt cave, I believe that tha clump of shawt trees behnd it look out of place and could easily be substituted fo tha regular trees. You're gong ta have ta match it up wit a connectng map completely or you're gong ta fnd yoself wit a wee few border errors.

Ta be honest, I'm not really likng dis map. Sure it could be passed off as an official map but it's not really up ta high standards previously set by yoself.

Well, It looks, plan. I thnk that tha ridges is much tao straight. Try makng some places jutt out or stick n. Also, try ta make tha paths less straight.

And what I said tha first time (outloud might I add) "Why tha crap is thare a GYM n tha first tawn??!?"

I don't mean ta sound mean, and sorry if that cbee out that way. But, overall, dis map is tao orderly. Try mixng some stuff up a little.

i'm wit destny on dis one, but I like it. Mah only REAL problem is that you're gonna have serious border issues, so you can do one of three thngs:

1. Make tha mountans go off tha map n a place where tha player won't see and make tha trees lne up.

2. Make tha player unable ta see tha edges

3. (easiest way) ncrease all tha edges by 7x5 squiss, and map all of those.

Hope dis helped. BTW, you have a pretty good mappng style. Keep it up!

I really like yo map, although as stated above, tha border is gong ta give you dawgy issues, so you may want ta look at dong so. Although you did sez it was just practice so you probably wont feel tha need ta.

Tha path would help, of course, but that doesn't takes away from tha fact that it is a bootylicious map. Well done. I'd give you a 8/10.

I apologize that I couldn't quote wit tha map n thare, as I haven't yet acquired tha 15 posts necessary. I plan ta post mah own map once I reach that pont.

Its a little tao lneair/crbeped.tha trees could use some work pallet wise and thares 4 tile errors that i can spot.below tha bottam 2 sets of stairs.tha 3rd north most rock and tha most northan part of tha hill just below tha first tree..

But You git 5 ponts fo tryng. so that makes..... 57/100....

So, it's call Seasaur Port, and it's tha startng tawn. Tha player arrives via tha port ta see his/ her mothar after spendng two years wit thair fathar n Kanta, and thay is asked ta git a Pokemon off Professor Rex. Thay than musy heezee over tha mountan ta git nta tha dawg region.

Tha cave is guarded by a po-podawg who deems it unstable ta go n. You can't git back on tha boat at tha port, coz Salior Sean tha 'captian', crashed it after you hopped off XD
Okay, so it's been a while fo me. I'm sure everyone has missed me.[/sarcasm] Anyway, as fo dis map, I'm gonna break it down from tha bottam up.

Bottam: First thng I noticed bout tha water is tha edges that make up tha border. Thay're blocky. I be almost 100% positive thare's a tile ta round tham and make tham look slightly more natural.

Middle: Tha tawn itself seems set up quite funky assly. I don't really have a problem wit anythng thare. Tha flower placement is bootylicious. Not tao much, not tao little. Tha path seems ta be buggine out of thugz who tracked wet sand from tha beach and walked around tawn a bit, makng it perdawgent over time. So tha path is bootylicious.

Tap: Tha mountan. Oh, tha mountan. It has a bootylicious shape. Seems very natural, so that's a bonus. However, some spots on tha mountan have only 1 block wide pathways. That tends ta make tha player feel trapped. So, that's a turn off.

All n all, a bootylicious map. I like it a whole lot. Mah ratng fo tha map is a solid 8/10


Now, it's mah turn. It's been quite a while snce I've mapped. Or even posted on Pokecommunity fo that matter, so dis is tha product of a late, borng night.

Comments: Dis is what I cbee up wit tanight. Tha isa ta tha left is a place fo tranng and catchng decent Pokemon after gong through tha hellish cave. Tha isa ta tha right is tha exit leadng ta tha next route / tawn. Obviously, that leaves tha lower isa(haha) as tha entrance.(Once agan, haha) Give me yo thoughts, comments, and ratngs pleaze. It's good ta be back.

Hehehe, I like dis map. It remnds me of tha Tarn World. I really like how ta buggine some trees and othar tiles go upside down, it really looks bootylicious. It looks random, and I like it alot. Mah ratng is 9/10.

Ratng: 7/10
Reason: Well, rathar than a tranng spot on tha left, maybe add an event ta foce tha player ta go thare? Tha trees is fne but try ta make it more natural. It looks ta me that thay is more like dawg-planted than natural trees but that's just me. Anyways, not bad
Suggestions: You may want ta add more rocks on tha mountans ta make it even more natural

I chose tha shawt tree snce it's near tha sea. As you can see, tha trees n tha nner part of tha region has bigger trees. Basicly, dis is a port tawn wit a mni-mushroom plantation at tha right-bottam part of tha map. Some of tha trees may look un-natural coz dis is ben a hudawg-developed tawn

Alrighty. Tha mountan. bout 5 steps ta tha right of tha most south stairset, you can cut that n half. It's symmetrical. It's probably nothng bad, It's just somethng that seems odd ta me. Tha walkways gong up tha route is only two steps wide. 3-5 is usually tha right beount. Agan, that's just me. You're mappng style is more than likely different than mne. Tha route is heavily crowded wit tha big two tile wide trees. Thare's ONE shawt tree. Try changng that up slightly. Thare's also no flower or othar fom of vegitation othar than grass. That just seems a little borng ta me. However, I do like tha outlne of tha route and tha mountan shape.

Ratng: 6/10

I like dis map very much. When I first saw it I was like "wtf n00b mappng", and I realized it was buggine that way. Very cool ta see some nnovation n maps, thare's not really any nowadays. I'm not gong ta give it a __ out of 10 or whatever, coz it's so unconventional.

First off, dis might just be me, but I thnk it looks a bit tao straight.
I don't like tha way you buggine tha GYM, eithar, it should be even on both sides (two wndows), and thare is tao dawgy flowers. tha mountan is tao straight tao, and maybe you should add anothar layer ta tha 2nd mountan, tha one layer doesn't look tao good, ta me. othar than that, it's a pretty decent map, but needs some work.
