Well, updated the screenshots with the latest sprites, as well as the final version of events for the demo, which is almost finished; the game having crashed earlier today didn't help either. Thank me there was a backup there.

Alright, we've finally passed on to the Beta Testing phase!

Now that the game is being tested, I think I should reveal the starters, since the only thing I gave last time was their shadow.


Left to right:
Deash (Dark) - Poishark (Dark/Water) - Deviathan (Dark/Water)

Minitaur (Fighting) - Oksand (Fighting/Ground) - Malletaur (Fighting/Ground)

Shin (Electric) - Indrashin (Electric/Psychic) - Raishin (Electric/Psychic)

Don't forget that each of these starter Pokémon also has an alternate, final evolution, obtained thanks to an item, most likely a shard or stone.

The Starter's types were done according to the game's title - and as such as mostly themed around nightmares and what's scary.

Stick around; the demo shouldn't take too long, now! =D

The beta testing places are all taken for this demo, sorry :/

Though, if you were to stick around, maybe you could get to test the next demos. I easily accept beta testers, it's just that this demo has already been debugged and is only awaiting the last sprites xD

A very small update, just to show the very early version of how the PDA will look like in the demo. It doesn't have all the details, which are still being put into. The sprite isn't also the final version.

Eheh, don't worry; I'm simply waiting for the final sprites before actually releasing it. It shouldn't take much longer now! =D

A small update today since the sprites are taking a bit more than we expected.

This time, I updated the Litindle Town and Victala City maps. They have the 4th overworlds now, and other corrections in layout and whatnot. You can find them under the category 'Overworld Maps' in the first page, or in our group's page on deviantArt, along with more of our map samples and screenshots.

wow, just saw this from your Sig, and it's Awesome man! Loved the idea of items over HM's, although I think ones such as Surf may be better, as Surf and Waterfall are actually quite strong moves to learn...

I'd love to do some Fakemon Designing! it'd be an honour to have the Fakemon 've already started included in this game...

(note: do you want completely new fakemon? or will you allow things such as prevo's and evo's of current Pokemon (such as Dunsparce, he desperately needs an evo)

(also note: I'm asking this because I can't see the fakemon image you included in your post, I think that may need revision)

well, yeah, Love to help out, and I'm joining DeviantArt now (I already have IRL friends on, I just needed an excuse XD)

Well, Surf and Waterfall (along with all other moves) won't seize to exist as moves (I'm considering making them belong a special kind of moves), and players will still be able tot each them. They just won't be used as actual HMs to cross the water, etc.

And yes, of course; any help we can get is welcomed. Just join in and I'll direct you to our Lead Fakemon Designer.

It's curious that you mention Dunsparce, as our Fakemon designer's done an evolution of it already; of course, since the game insists largely in branched evolution, I'm confident there wouldn't be much trouble. And we could always use two heads thinking about the subject xD

And thanks for mentioning that; I'll edit the post with the proper image.

This new version should have several corrections, such as the overpowered trainer problem and even the sound and save functions should now work.

All I regret is that the text boxes may not yet show up. But hey, it's good progress. Just try to read xD

Additionally, you can also copy the previous save to this folder to load it from there so that nothing is lost, for the changes were not made in-game.

One more thing, there's a Readme inside now, containing all the credits.

<strong>In case you can't hear those sounds when you choose an option, etc., just press F1 and tick the box corresponding to "PLAY BGS and SE".</strong>
But if you hate them as much as I do, just leave it. x3

So it seems the demo release went pretty well! =D

Now that the first demo is out, it's time to get back to work. So this time, I want YOUR opinion on what to do.

If you're an avid checker of our pages on deviantArt, you probably noticed that we're currently making changes to the battle system.

Instead of explaining it all throughly, I'll leave three previews and the description here. I would like an opinion on which of the three looks better.

Explanations

Beginning the Battle

You are shown three options when you enter a battle:
Fight
Pokémon
Escape

Fight is an obvious option; it opens up the four other options:

Physical -» Contains all the Physical moves the Pokémon can perform;
Special -» Contains all the Special moves the Pokémon can perform;
Item -» Contains all the items the trainer owns.
Guard -» Should the move hit, the damage is slightly reduced, depending on the Defense or Special Defense stat. It also increases the chances of dodging a move.

Pokémon allows you to switch the order of your Pokémon before the battle, or switch the current Pokémon if you are already in the battle.

Escape allows you to attempt to escape the battle.

(The following applies to preview 2)

Notice the levels, and then the moves.

Let's assume that the Lucario only learned one move from level 1 to 6, and kept it until it was level 60.

The move Quick Attack was upgraded into Extremespeed, which hits harder and probably has more effects.

Moves that are simply improved versions would simply replace the ones below them.

Another viable example is Bite. After leveling up, the Pokémon would 'forget' Bite and learn Crunch. There are n examples to this.

I like the third option personally. I don't really like having the art in battles like that, the sprites seem to fit better.
