I just finished catching the legends yesterday, and completed the Unown Report as well. So I'm looking foreward to something fun!

From the lack of anything that can swim, I'm guessing I'm allowed some HM Banks, right?

Anyway, started up this challenge a few hours ago.

- Grabbed myself a Treecko
- Headed on up through story events and destroyed May's Torchic
- Beat Roxanne, she was harder than I expected, but still turned to pebbles.
- More story stuff
- Headed through Granite Cave to deliver the Letter to Steven and grabbed myself a Zubat on the way, properly named Adam West (Unoriginal I know)
- Delivered the Letter and spent a good 30-45 minutes looking for a Geodude on the First Floor... It really shouldn't take that long to find a GEODUDE, even if it is a 10% chance... Anyway, caught it and named it Pete for some reason.
- With Geodude and Zubat in hand I took on the gym. Machop gave me some trouble with that Bulk Up, but Makuhita was shut down quickly. Sad to know that I can't teach Bulk Up to any of these fellows.

I just realized that in red there is no Meowth, so I'm going to hack one into my party if that's alright.

-Beat up some trainers and went into Mt. Moon
-Battled trainers and Team Rocket in Mt. Moon
-found a moon stone
-died a few times trying to rush through
-caught a clefairy
-battled super nerd guy
-collected the dome fossil
-left and went to cerulean city
-battled gary at nugget bridge [It was a slaughter]
-Went to catch me a Meowth =D
-caught meowth and began grinding him up

Is there a rule against catching HM slaves not specified as what I've been told to use?

As for me, I still remain in Dewford town, stuck until I figure out if I can catch an HM slave or if I HAVE to catch another assigned Pokémon to use HM moves, because as it stands, the latter isn't an option yet.

Rock Tomb, Peck, Double Kick, Ember

Petra the Hardy Mightyena L18
Tackle, Howl, Sand Attack, Bite
So all else fails and I have to use one of these Pokémon, which one of Ajax's moves should I replace with Cut?

Well first off, iirc, you don't have to have cut for Ruby/Sapphire. All the cut trees are go-aroundable.

Secondly, I'm pretty sure that you can have some HM slaves, because what if someone doesn't give you anybody that can learn surf? You can't win the game.

Oh. sorry, ya you can use your starter pokemon for now until you get acess to one of these. The soonest though look like it will be at Route 24 (Bellsprout) and if you really cant get there without another pokemon then go ahead and use one other. But after that, only those 5
