I'm going to do this in my HeartGold version with 250 encounters per route down from Route 48 to Route 1. never found shinies from trying to do it from random encounter... (all of them were from dumb luck, when I never thought about it)

I haven't started doing REs for the contest yet, but I did get the wild Pokémon number on my Trainer Card up to the next hundred so I can easily keep track of how many I've encountered so that I know when it's time to move on to the next route. Currently it's at 4,100, and I plan on doing 100 REs on each route. I want to get my Litwick egg count up to 1,700 before I get started. Right now it's at 1,650. I've also hatched 112 Axews. On top of that, I decided to hatch some eggs of the Pokémon that have the lowest step counts for hatching eggs. I hatched 20 Magikarps, 10 Pichus, 5 Cleffas, and 5 Igglybuffs. I still needed to hatch the babies for my Pokédex. I probably won't hatch anymore of those four. One of the Magikarps I hatched happens to have perfect IVs in both attack and speed, and has a Jolly nature. The parent Gyarados has a perfect IV in speed. I've been hatching Bronzors using a different Ditto to get one with a Relaxed nature to hatch with my Japanese Ditto, but I've been getting almost every nature except that one. Another problem is that half of the Bronzors that I'm hatching have a perfect IV in speed, which is a huge problem with a Pokémon that needs a speed IV as close to zero as you can get. I didn't check the IVs on the parent Bronzong, but it must have a perfect IV in speed. I've never had such a high percentage of hatchlings inherit a perfect IV from a parent that has a perfect IV before. When I used other parents that have a perfect IV about 20% of the hatchlings inherited the perfect IV, maybe fewer, but with Bronzong it's been about 50%.

I know I don't post here much, but I just came to say I've done about 802 encounters on White so far, currently on Victory road, and 800 on Emerald just outside of Fallarbor, so hope to get a shiny spinda there....gulp.

Edit: I just found my shiny!!!! It's a shiny spinda, found it in Emerald in route 113! It's green! I'll post up the picture once I somehow transfer it from my phone here since I really don't have a camera or video....here! Well, I only have a cell phone that takes photos, and I have no cameras.....so...it's low quality and sorry, but yeah, I nicknamed it Enem...on my 813 encounter.

Hey guys! I'm going away for about a week without Internet, but I'll see if I can keep on hunting. I've been dual hunting Palkia/Johto starters all week, but yesterday I decided to go after the easiest shiny to get: LG Game Corner Abra! You can get 83 per SR, "lol." I can get 4 Abra in the time it takes to get one Palkia, "lol," so hopefully I'll be able to get one soon.

I don't think you should SR in Emerald - the RNG is going to keep on giving you the same Pokemon!! Could you SR for Rayquaza in HG or SS instead?

Anyways, just came to say that I've gotten only about 200 RE's done on Sapphire. 100 on Route 101, and another 100 on Route 102. I would've kept going if my Game Boy didn't start dying on me.

I really hope I don't get a shiny Poochyena, or I will forever raeg. I will be happy with Zigzagoon, Wurmple or Ralts, though :3

By the way, congrats on all the shinies everyone has caught (I may not be posting but I read every single post by the other members lol).

doing this, 2587 encounters in (exc. the encounters in kanto) I encountered a shiny murkrow in the lost cave outside of five island! woo! :D

Name: Random Route Challenge
Rules: You must encounter Pokemon constantly on a random route (see below, you do NOT choose) until you get a shiny Pokemon. It must only be on the route. If you want me to find your route for you, just say so. You must print-screen your results (both the generation and route number) for proof that you did not pick it yourself.
Prize: Honorable mention in the prize section of the second post and next to your name on the member list.

How to Find Your Route
1. Go to www.random.org
2. On the right is the number generator. Your first number will be 1, and the last will be 5. This will tell you the generation you'll be hunting in. If you get 1 or 2, you can play remakes. If you get 1, you can choose Fire Read/Leaf Green/Heart Gold/Soul Silver
3. Let's say you get 3. Now, you must look up how many routes are in Hoenn. Hoenn has the routes from 201 to 230, so you will generate a number in between them. Let's say I got 222, so I have to hunt on route 222 now until I get a shiny.

Special Conditions
1. If you get generation 1, and you want the chance to hunt in the Sevii Islands, instead of using 1 through 25 do 1 through 32. If you get for 26 you have to hunt on Island One, 27 Island Two, and so on. You can choose wherever you want to hunt on that island.
2. If your chosen route has a cave or other area connected to it, you can choose to hunt in there. But you can only hunt in one place, you can't alternate between the cave and route.
3. If you get Generation 1, you can hunt in FR/LG and in the Kanto part of HG/SS.
4. If you get Generation 2, you can NOT hunt in the Kanto part of HG/SS/G/S/C.

Routes
1. Kanto's routes are 1-25
2. Johto's routes are 29-46.
3. Hoenn's routes are 101-134.
4. Sinnoh's routes are 201-230.
5. Unova's routes are 1-18.
