Do you go to the doctor often? Why or why not?
You can include the dentist/orthodontist in this if you want.

I didn't have a family doctor for yeaaaaaaaars. My family was always moving around and I was healthy. If I did get sick we'd just go to the ER. I'd seen a dentist and orthodontist more than I've ever seen a doctor, tbh. For some reason my teeth were important but my general health wasn't?

I finally do have a family doctor now, because my ankle hasn't been doing well and I needed it looked at... no news about the ankle but a lot about the anemia I didn't know I had. And that's why you should go to the doctor somewhat often, kids.

As for the dentist, a lot as a kid, but now? My insurance doesn't cover it right now and I'm sure I have numerous cavities. So I don't go because I can't afford it. :(

I don't have health insurance, so I don't go. The last time I went to the doctors was for my checkup physical thing that I needed in order to enroll in school back in June or something of 2010.

NO. I hate going to the doctor's. I recently had to go just to get a prescription and they did a whole exam on me. Took two hours. I hadn't been there in 6 years according to the doctor and EVERY OTHER DOCTOR who came in to tell me pointless stuff. I also had to fill out a sheet asking questions like, "are you usually sad, do you get along with your teacher, do you go out with friends much? Reminded me why I avoided going for so long.

I'm at the doctor all the time, haha. I have to go to my family doctor once every month or two to get a refill on my sleeping pills (among other things) and I generally need to give her details on the other aspects of my health, so that's a common visit.

I'm also seeing a few specialists right now. I'm registered at a pain clinic so every so often I have appointments to tweak my meds with them or do some tests. I've also got insomnia so I have an appointment this week to be fitted for some sort of breathing apparatus at the sleep lab I've been going to. I think there's follow-up to that. I also missed an appointment with a sleep specialist the other week because I slept through it, ironically enough. :P

Everyday I am thankful that Canada has free health care because mine and my parents' health care plans already don't fully cover all my meds and everything, nevermind having to cover all these appointments too. xD; I'd be so screwed if I lived in the US.

I saw my doctor earlier this year for something specific and had to be sent to a specialist for. But, I'm way overdue for a normal physical. I should do that this year.

Nope, my dad's a doctor, so he can just diagnose me.

I've been going to numerous doctors often these days. I've been going to a dietitian, gynecologist, psychologist, and general medicine. I'll explain those in a bit.

In the past, the only two doctors I've went were the dentist and the eye doctor. The good thing about the dentist is that I don't have any cavities, and all they had to fix is a broken cavity I had for a few years. So that's been fixed. As for the eye doctor, I remember going there so much due to breaking my glasses every year, then I went almost every two weeks to prepare myself for the lasik surgery.

Right now, I'm seeing 4 doctors and I see them once every 2-3 weeks. I started to see a psychologist because I have an anxiety issue. I'm taking meds for that, thankfully. As for the dietitian and the general medicine, I'm anemic, so I have to update those doctors of my progress of my weight and eating habits (which tbh, they have been lacking lately). I won't explain the gynecologist. It's a TMI thing. lmao

I went to the health center here the other day for a clogged ear (that they charged me 45 bucks to unclog, jesus) but I didn't see a doctor, just a nurse. Before that I can't even remember when I went to the doctor. Probably when I got my last prescription for things I'd rather not share publicly lol.

Haha, in the last 5 or more years the only times I've been to the doctor's office for medical-y problem stuff was for the same thing: I had stuff in my ear and they just had to wash it out. I've had other reasons to go more often but they aren't stuff for the public either. I'm generally pretty healthy.

Um... it didn't? I'm still reading my sentence as "My health care plan & my parents' [through school/work] covers medication; I would be screwed if those health care plans had to cover actual health care too."

The only reason I don't like these sort of appointments is the fact they make you wait all the time. I go to the dentist every 6 months, which turns out to be pretty good since I always get the funny and young dentists who understand the school day I've been through before I even got to sit on the chair. As for my doctor, I got cool doctors who do the same...understand me and talk to me. Rarely get sick, but that's only because I'm a teen.

I only go when I need to. Usually it's when I have a severe allergic reaction and need more medicine prescribed for me. Otherwise I really don't go to the doctor; it's not like it's fun or anything lol

Last time I went was way back in January. Or maybe it was late December.

I only go to doctors if it's a matter of urgency. I hate going there and spending hours waiting; it's just not how I like to spend my time.

I think the last time I went to a doctor was in 2006 when I had the chicken pox.

The last time I went to the doctor? To get a prescription for some prosthesis. The last time I went for something that was ailing me? January or February when I had to get some tests done to see why my knees hurt.

Last time I've been to the doctors was two years ago for a quick medical checkup. Otherwise, I don't recall having to go for any sort of ailment since I was much younger.

As for dentists, I go every year for cleaning and such. I was going to have my wisdom teeth removed this past Christmas, but in the interest of time, I've had that delayed until later this summer. I'm certainly looking forward to getting that done! D:

I go to the dentist twice a year, but I honestly can't remember the last time I went to the doctor. So much so, that whenever I'm asked who my doctor is, I honestly make up a name and practice. Apart from getting frequent colds, I'm relatively healthy, so there's never been a real need to go to one. When I moved for university, I never signed up for a new doctor there and... I haven't needed a use of one. Maybe when I click 'Post Quick Reply', I'll be struck down with something deadly, but until then I don't really see my situation changing all that much.
