How is everyone able to get their pokemon kick out of sleep w/o use if items, berries and so forth. Is there a particular move type that kicks it out?

The one pokemon I used was clutch in the previous battle then became the reason I lost because it was asleep.

Unless the Pokémon has the ability Early Bird, there's no way to wake them up other than simply waiting. Of course, you can use Sleep Talk so sleep isn't as crippling. Snore can also be used, but it isn't very good. Also keep in mind that each time you switch out a sleeping Pokémon from the battle their sleeping counter will reset. For example, if you waited two turns for the Pokémon to wake up, and then switch out, you're going to have to wait another two turns next time. This is only in the fifth generation games though.

In the future, ask questions related about the game mechanics in the B2W2 Quick Questions thread (or in the other Pokémon gaming forums depending on which game you have a question about).
