If you catch a spearow when you're running away it screws up the battle against team rocket if your pikachu faints (not sure if covered in first post, but didn't see it in bugs)

Because you don't have enough badges. It's routine implemented in every Pokémon game.

Your Pikachu is "over levelled" for the amount of badges you have.

Let him rest and start training your other pokemons.
Using the lucky egg charmander comes equippied with is super easy. Just remember not to let charmander, squirtle and bulbasaur evolve.

I just finished playing the newest download of Ash Gray from the beginning. And it was pretty great. Some things I noticed while playing was: I never got the phone call for the Misty Mermaid event. I had a major problem after the seafoam islands. I had not completed episode 67 showdown at the poke coral or 68 evolution solution and I sailed east killing the guy with the donphan. Going south and did not receive an invitation. Then getting on my raft. Going underwater, appearing at the nurse saying I had no invitation. Kicking me off the island and not having a raft to return. After that I had to reload a previous save, luckily I used multiple save slots rather than just one. So after reviewing what I missed, the second run through went perfectly. When I released my pokemon in front of the nurse on New Island It released my wartortle. However after battling one of the three trainers my wartortle evolved into blastoise. But it still showed I had a wartortle out. In the big fight there were a few pokemon not fighting clones. I went to the indigo plateau, he said It wasn't open, because when I talked to professor oak I didn't get my pokemon back from him because my party was full. So it never registered anything prof oak said. So after feeling like an idiot, I go to the cave and use an escape rope, which put me in the plateau past the guard. So I freak and revert to a previous save. That could have caused problems. So I get my pokemon back from prof oak and then episode 75 bad to the bone played out. Everything else worked fine from there on. However when I looked at a tutorial and realized a pidgeotto would allow me to continue fighting, I redid the whole thing. And when I got to the elite four I about crapped my pants at their pokemon. I'm used to the 251 pokedex. So I rare candy hacked "my pc" and then squashed 'em with infinite rare candied pokemon... lol. I would have liked it if there was a closing ceremony or at least a place for the participation badge on the trainer card or in the key items pocket. Its on the last part of 82 around 16 minutes in. As for my experience with the patch, there was a few sprites that looked out of place but overall I was amazed and enthralled with the experience that was most certainly my childhood. A combination of the gameboy game and the show I watched. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see how far you go. Two Thumbs Up.

you have to restart alc112 and just let charmander evolve all of the way but do NOT evolve squirtile or bulbasaur at all

okay dude, your screwed and are gonna have to start way from the beginning and do the events u skipped and also battle the guy who has donaphan, so that means no cheats and only evolve charmander all the way NOT the other pokemon

charmeleon and charizard arent supposed to obey you since it is part of the anime it's part of the routine and charizard wont obey you til beta 4.0 is released and you complete the episode "charizard chills" so ergo restart the game and ONLY evolve charmander

I know my post was long and confusing pokemonmaster42. I reloaded a previous save to finish the two events I skipped and after I beat the guy with donphan I got the invitation as normal. I also didn't cheat until the very end. I figured it didn't matter anymore since it was the end of the beta. And I didn't need the bulbasaur and squirtle events to complete the game.
I also remember two other glitches I found. One, the sacred ash doesn't have a description. The item behind cinnabar island. Two, when I talked with the nurse after coming out of the water on new island. Her dialogue is messed up. It repeats the same two words twice in a row. I don't remember the exact sentence. But an example of what it looks like is: I was going to going to do something.

Remove the Ground type and leave them with Rock only.
Or simply edit the type effectiveness by using some tools.

I know that you can because it was done in this hack. I noticed it when battling brock that electric attacks effected his pokemon and i looked in the pokedex and it said that they were both still ground type pokemon. p.s. i already had yape.

You then don't have to collect the rest of the badges, or so it says. But the game will be ruined coz of all the events you'd skip.

That is just an event. Nothing happens if you pass or fail it. You still have to earn the badges. More importantly this event must be played in order to access Seafoam Islands.

Hi, I've been working on a hack of FireRed for a Pokemon Anime Version of the game that basically follows the same events of the anime. I see that there have been hacks like this already, so I'm not sure how good mine would be in comparison. But I started this because I wanted to make videos of playing Pokemon all the way through with Ash's lineup, to see just how it would go and it snowballed from there.

I'm going to try to (if possible) cover the events from each episode in the Kanto and Orange League series. The story follows the same one as the anime, including events, etc. I've basically hacked up to episode 50 now. You should expect a new Beta every 25 episodes or so, barring updates for bugs/glitches.

You are Ash Ketchum. You're about to embark on your Pokémon adventure. Unfortunately, you stayed up all night watching Pokémon matches and woke up late! With all your rivals from Pallet Town (the most annoying being Gary) having taken all the starters available, it looks like you'll just have to go home ... unless you want Pikachu instead.

You're about to embark on an adventure of 116 events (plus two movie events) that will put you in Ash's shoes, allow you to catch the Pokémon he catches, and make the decisions he makes. How will your journey as Ash Ketchum play out? There's only one way to find out ...

- Play as Ash Ketchum
- Have the opportunity to catch all of the Pokémon Ash does
- Follows the same events as in the Anime Series
- New Tiles
- New Sprites
- New Maps
- Tools like the Hatchet and the Pickaxe replace the need for HMs such as Cut and Rock Smash

Unofficial Hack of the Week # 128

Hack of the Month - September 2010

  • Why doesn't Pikachu follow you like in Yellow? Can you make it follow you?
Spoiler:
While it is on my wish list for things I would like the hack to include, I am not advanced enough in hacking to accomplish it. It requires the use of Assembly (ASM) and creating unique routines. Jambo51 had been working on such a routine. If he gets the chance to finish it and chooses to release the routine to the public (his prerogative) I will of course implement it in my hack. As of this time, though, no such routine exists that has been thoroughly completed, so this feature is currently not possible.
  • How do I beat Sabrina? Kadabra's way too strong!
Spoiler:
Kadabra is somewhat overleveled for a couple of reasons:
1. Ash gets there early in the anime.
2. No Pokemon on Ash's team could even come close to beating it.
It's meant to be a challenge. If you want to beat Sabrina, it's suggest you level up Pikachu (use the Vs. Seeker if need be) so that it can outspeed Kadabra. Thunder Wave it to paralyze it, then have Bulbasaur use leach seed on the next turn. From there, just keep attacking/using potions or revives until it ultimately is knocked out.
  • Why is my screen red when I go outside?
Spoiler:
That is part of the day/night system by Interdpth & ZodiacDaGreat. You are simply playing during evening-ish hours, when the sun would be setting. Play a little bit later or earlier, and the outdoor color scheme will be changed.
  • I beat Misty, where do I go now? The path to Vermilion is blocked.
Spoiler:
If you already headed north and battled AJ and the Giselle at the Tech (recommended), go South and then directly west. There will be a (somewhat) hidden open route that leads to some grass and takes you south to an opening - the Hidden Village. Continue this way to progress.
  • How do I get into Koga's Gym? I don't understand the statue's riddle.
Spoiler:
The intent of the riddle when it says that you must "turn South" is that you must face the back of the statue. The intent of the riddle when it says you must "go back" is that you must hit the Back button while facing the back of the statue. This will open the secret entrance to Koga's mansion.
  • How can I help Jigglypuff?
Spoiler:
After completing the Paras/Parasect event, talk to the old lady in the medicine store. A new item - Berry Juice - will have come in. Buy it and give it to Jigglypuff to soothe its voice.
  • Why won't Charmeleon/Charizard obey me? How can I make it listen?
Spoiler:
It doesn't obey you because it doesn't respect you as a trainer - this was the case in the anime as well. This will continue for the entire game until you complete the "Charizard Chills" event, after which Charizard will obey you once more, except for certain events where Charizard temporarily obeys.
  • How do I complete the Lights, Camera, Quaction! event? The director doesn't like any of my Pokémon!
Spoiler:
There are five condition upgraders in the game. In order for the director to accept one of your Pokemon, you must upgrade its Toughness, Coolness, and Smartness. The upgraders for these three conditions are located in Pewter City, Vermillion City, and Saffron City respectively. Each requires a particular colored shard. Some shards can be found as Hidden Items, and others can be mined using the pickaxe on rocks. If you do not have the appropriate shard, return to some cave (Mt. Moon, for instance) and begin mining until you luck into it. Once you have raised one of your Pokemon's conditions in each category listed, return to the director with that Pokemon in the first slot of your party. Do not raise any other conditions of your Pokémon, or they will not qualify.
  • How do I start the Pokémon League? The guy at the gate says it still hasn't started yet.
Spoiler:
To begin the Pokémon League, you must complete all the events at Mr. Hideaway, including the Giant Onix and Pokémopolis. Afterward, return to Prof. Oak's lab and speak to him. He will tell you that the League is ready to begin. Before entering Victory Road, the Bad to the Bone event will activate. Afterward, you the guard will let you pass into the Pokémon League.
