Yeah, I was referring only to the main channel. I believe that's the same sort of deal in the UK as well: the main channel showing crappy reality shows and the rest of the MTV-network being at least partially about showing music vids.

There's been only one time in my life I ever bothered watching MTV, and that was when I discovered Daria playing on it (ogod, and I can't even remember if I was still in middle or high school, I don't remember exactly when I found it). Of course, I also had it in my head back then that it was a "bad" channel due to certain other shows on it, so...I never sought after watching anything on it before then.

Or after then, for that matter.

I'd care more about MTV if it actually had music these days. :/ I'm sorry but all of it's programming (aside from Ridiculousness because it can be funny) is garbage.

That's why they invented MTV2! :D

You know, I was actually thinking about it the other day, and I realized I don't really pay attention to music videos at all anymore. It seems like they used to be more prevalent or something. Nowadays it's like they're a dying breed.

I'd be interested to see if the overall production of them has slumped or if it's just my imagination.

I remember when I was a kid I was livid that they would put the music videos on commercials for CDs and the CDs didn't actually have the music videos on them.

Also I thought every song in existence had a music video.

It's called YouTube my dear friend.

At least as far as I know. All the artists usually make one music video for each album/EP.

Music videos on TV is a pretty dying breed. Now days, it's all on YouTube.

Yeah that's pretty much true. Most artists who's sort of known or pretty known has at least one music video. Though any band/artist can take a decent camera and shoot their own video without a professional production team and upload it on YouTube.

I never really watched music videos. I just didn't like sitting there and watching them; preferred to just listen to the actual music and do other things! :3

I really enjoy the film clips to songs when they have like a story behind it that matches the tone of the song.
Pyro by Kings of Leon for example, I can watch all day everyday. Well.. you know.
But then there's Yellow by Coldplay where it's just him walking, boring!

Then again I do like the ones that are like of people doing things in slo-mo. ily slo-mo.

Yeh, I know what you mean. I just ignore videos because it is all about the music! :3

Speaking of music, Gorjia's newest album is so good! :3

But some songs need a film clip to be any good. Example, Gangnam Style.
In any case I agree more often than not it's better to ignore the video.

Gangnam style is horrible and makes my ears bleed and the music video doesn't make it any better.

Haven't watched the original gangam style video but someone sent me this nice parody: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTCRwi71_ns

After watching that, I don't think I want to see the Korean source XD

Gangnam Style shouldn't need a parody tbh. It's just too... amazing already.

edit: lol it is quite good though

Agreed. It's hilariously amazing (not musically amazing by any means, though).

What did I just watch?

No, you definitely need to see the original to have this make sense. And because the original is tons of fun.

I like Gangnam Style. :P

Except that I have to resist the urge to go watch the video again whenever I see/hear mention of it, because I know it'll get stuck in my head...again. And then I'll be trying to sing it for the rest of the day. >< Nngh.

(That parody actually kind of bugs me, lol. But only because the words don't flow with the music like I keep expecting them to.)

9? That's crazy. :o

I was at least 11 or 12 when I joined, any earlier and I'm not sure I'd have had any IRL friends at all.

On the topic of Gangnam Style, not a fan. It doesn't have anything I look for at all in a piece of music/comedy/a video/whatever.
