Katsumi has straight and layered black hair with side bangs that cover part of her right eye. She generally gets frustrated with her hair as it always seems to fall into her face when she’s studying. If it bothers her too much, she’ll tie her hair in a low ponytail that doesn’t really look attractive, but catches all of her hair except for her side bangs. When she wants her hair out of her way, she can really hate her side bangs as they are short enough that they can’t be tied up. Some have told Katsumi that she could clip her side bangs, but she hates clips more than she hates her hair.

Katsumi has almond-shaped brown eyes that usually have dark circles under them due to a lack of sleeping. She would generally get four hours of sleep every day because of balancing school, studying, Cloud, and her part-time job. She has a very flat but long and small nose and she has chapped, full lips. Her teeth after having braces for two years but has fairly white teeth. She has pale skin that is generally common for Japanese people. She stands at 166 cm and weighs around 50 kg. Her ears are pierced, but she never changes her earrings, always opting to wear her small emerald studs that she got from her mum. She has a few scars from scrapes and burns and is fairly muscular due to being in Karate since she was five.

Generally, Katsumi wears her school uniform, a dark blue blazer with silver buttons and a plaid blue skirt that reaches up to her knees. She wears thin, knee-high socks in the summer and thick, knee-high socks in the winter. Her shoes are regular black shoes whose soles are a bit scuffed due to her running around a lot. During the winter, Katsumi would wear a black coat that would stop just before the end of her skirt. She generally carries a small, black messenger bag with her to adequately hold her stuff, although she sometimes finds herself carrying her textbooks in her arms while waving down the public bus.

If Katsumi just stays at home all day, she would not change out of her pajamas, which is usually a mixture of pajama pants and a t-shirt. If she does go somewhere, she’ll usually wear jeans, usually in their regular colour or black although she does have a tan pair, and any random clean shirts she can find. She likes to wear knee high boots with high heels, her favourite pair having heels three and a half inches high. Even though she walks around a lot, she loves to wear high heels, it is practically the only girlish thing about her, and can manage to full on sprint, upstairs or otherwise, with heels as high as four and a half inches. She has even been known to fight in her heels before and can usually keep her balance well when she kicks. She does not like wearing skirts or dresses, though.

DAEMON APPEARANCE:
Shi no Tenshi was, as the name might suggest, an angel with black wings. She had a wingspan of twelve feet when they were fully brought out. The huge wingspan made Shi no Tenshi looked larger than she actually was, which allowed her to intimidate her opponents, but she usually kept them either only a foot out or completely retracted. There were two holes on Shi no Tenshi’s back that her wings originated from. Using those holes, Shi no Tenshi could make her wings completely retract into her body. Her feathers were deadly despite their innocent appearance: they were as sharp as knives and were poisonous when touched. She usually liked to keep her wings completely retracted for the surprise and intimidation factor.

Shi no Tenshi, like her wings, had a soft and delicate image. She stood at 152 cms and weighed only 30 kg, although she could still pack a strong blow. She no Tenshi did not have a well-endowed bosom, but she did have some curves. Her skin was extremely pale, as if she had no blood inside of her, and her lips were a pure black. She had long, straight, and raven locks that reached to the end of her back. Her eyes were always closed, even though she could “see” well enough. Opening her eyes was her trump-card in battles: her eyes were a pure black; she had no whites in her eyes and seeing her eyes would cause a daemon to be instantly defeated. Doing so would set Shi no Tenshi’s experience to get to the next level to zero. If she used the ability more than once every two weeks, Shi not Tenshi’s level would be set back to one.


Shi no Tenshi wore a long, flowing dress that cut off at her ankles. The top of her dress, chest and up, was as black as midnight with no stars and no moon. Her dress, long-sleeved as it was, hid no scars. The skirt of her dress was a pure white, the colour of untouched snow. Underneath her dress, she wore whie slacks that cut off a few inches before the end of her dress. Her shoes are black flats, which are easy to walk around and fight in.


Despite her humanoid appearance, Shi no Tenshi is not human at all. She has no blood or organs, and while she does have a skeleton, her bones are as strong as titanium and light enough for fast flight. If stabbed, what would mostly be hit would be the emptiness inside of her, and so it can be unnerving to other players who made their daemon have organs and blood. It takes a lot of pressure to break her bones.

“There’s some rumours going on about the update that’s happening on the 21st. They say that if you log in between midnight and 12:01 a week before the announcement that they’ll be some secret sneak peek or something.”

“It’s the seventh of December, so we’d have to *log in next week, right*?”

“Exactly. Hey, do you have any idea about what upgrades they’re going to have?”

Katsumi allowed the conversation to wash over her as she contemplated the information she heard while riding the tube. Was overhearing a whispered conversation really the best source of information? Of course, with a thing as popular as Cloud, any rumours should be looked into and well researched. After all, there were bound to be other hints of rumours in the internet with the way Cloud fans worked. Perhaps she should check the Senate when she got back home and perhaps Katsumi should tell Colette when she got home as well.

While Cloud was accessible by any phone that had internet, Katsumi’s phone was probably the worst piece of technology she owned. It was a standard flip phone with the basic nine pad dialing. It was really old, maybe about seven years old, and the only accessory it had was the most basic of cameras. Still, her phone still worked and she hadn’t lost the charger forever yet, so there wasn’t a need to waste money to buy a new one. Plus, she couldn’t really afford a new phone with the hospital and medicine bills.

Just thinking about money got Katsumi depressed. She wasn’t by all means a materialistic girl, although she loved her high heels and her technology, but money was harder to come by with her mother being sick. Katsumi had to work two jobs to pay the bills and still had to go to school and study as much as possible in order to get into a good college so she’d be able to afford a better paying job.

Katsumi broke out of her thoughts when the tube landed at her stop. She exited out of the tube and onto the streets, contemplating whether or not she wanted to walk the few miles to her home or catch a public bus instead. Katsumi knew that she needed all of the time she could doing homework before heading to work, but the few miles would help her clear her head and would be inexpensive, despite it being fairly cold outside. Katsumi decided that more time was more important than saving a few extra cents and waited for the bus, pulling out her homework while waiting in the meanwhile.

While she usually finished her homework at school, sometimes Katsumi’s teachers would assign projects that took a few days, usually a week for her due to her busy schedule, and she would most likely get an extension. The teachers were aware of her mother and cut her a bit of some slack, even though Katsumi had never asked for it. She didn’t want their pity; in fact, she hated pity and hated feeling helpless and weak. She couldn’t do much to help her mum but try to will her to get better, and Katsumi knew that there probably wasn’t going to be a Christmas miracle.

Katsumi got home and decided that she was going to write a letter to Colette. Even though Colette might have heard about the rumour from the internet, a letter would be just as good. They had long ago switched from letter form to email form, but the intention was still the same.

Katsumi went to her computer and started to write an email as Colette wasn’t on yet.

How has your day been? From what I hear when we correspond, your days at your school are abnormal and I do wonder from time to time what sort of shenanigans you have come up with.

My day has been well, school has been going great and the kids at my Karate class have been great. Most of them are fairly rowdy and there may be a few that disrespect me, but Miharu-sensei has been putting a stop to it. After all, how can you learn without respecting your teacher?

I am not sure if you had heard, but there has been a rumour going around, saying that if you logged in between 00:00 and 00:01 here a week before the update, that we will get a special...what do you call it, sneak peek?

• • Katsumi is fluent in Japanese, can write and read English, and can speak and understand spoken Korean. She cannot speak or understand spoken English well (but she can a bit) and cannot read or write Korean at all.
  • Katsumi is friends with Colette, Nakuzami’s character. As a project in English class, Katsumi had to get a pen pal and managed to get Colette. They’ve been exchanging letters for five years now and are still close friends. Katsumi was the one to get Colette to join Cloud in the first place.

One of the weirdest ones you've heard is that if you log in between 00:00 and 00:01 (JST) a week before the announcement, you'll get to see a sneak peek of what it could be.

On the first minute of 21st of December, 2012 (JST), CLOUD will revolutionise. Make sure you're online before then to claim rare anniversary items and to catch the live screening of the special announcement.

The announcement is on the 21st but the rumored sneak peak is the 14th.

Related to those poisonous wings of Michaela's daemon... @Skymin, if our daemon was, say, a digimon or something else with "powers" that came without items, would we be able to use them in CLOUD? I thought not, since I think it should be fair regardless if you made a human child or a Blastoise for a daemon. So?

Though I'm not the GM, I'd imagine that the game would have some form of auto-balancing feature for such things.

Poisonous Wings, for example, could take up the "shoulders" slot on the character, and they get powered up with each level instead of wearing a cape/cloak/something. To compensate for not needing the majority of the loot they'd win, they'd get a tax on their gold earned.

While physical might could be balanced by screwing the laws of physics. If one makes a three foot tall fairy focused on melee, they would be able to defeat a ten-foot-tall golem focused on melee, so long as they're a higher level. Whether through Speed/Evasion/Whatever stats they use.

Just an idea.

A default daemon with no items equipped has no 'powers'. To attack in the MMO part of the game, you need to equip items and such (or you could use your 'bare fists' but it does crap all damage). For instance, if you wanted to have a Blastoise as a daemon, Pokémon would have done a deal with CLOUD to make that possible. Then, you'd have a giant, blue turtle default. Then, you'd have to equip an item (let's call it a "Cannon Shell") for the body, an item for the claws and a magic accessory for the water 'magic'. Plus extra items for each element (if you wanted ice as well).

So, you have the potential to make a Blastoise with a bird for a body instead of a turtle.

I had two ideas for items and characters.

The first idea was that you've got slots. So yeah, a shoulder slot, head slot, face slot, body slot, over body etc etc etc. Like you would in any normal game.

Second idea was slots PLUS armour vs weapon points. Each character, depending on level, would have a certain number of weapon and armour points (which would depend on your level/stats) that they could use, as not all held items could be weapons. For example, Michaela's character. Those wings would take a shoulder spot, like you said. Then, because they're super OP, would have a really, REALLY high weapon number and a really high armour number. So, she could only equip the wings as a weapon and maybe one other, low numbered armour. Then, she'd be maxed out and couldn't equip anything else.

Although, it would be possible to equip something and nullify the points it uses if its a decorative item only.

Melee is very much based on stats. As damage is dealt in points (everyone would have a certain amount of HP), if a tiny fairy was up against a golem and the golem had super crappy HP and defence, it would be slaughtered by a fairy that had high attack. If the golem had high evasion though, it might dodge all the moves and slowly get the fairy's HP down.

Though, I thought all this stuff was stuff I didn't need to include because it makes things really complicated and confusing and I thought people were going to just use things ... fairly. d:

EDIT: oh, the only place stats dont matter is the ACID arena. everyone's stats are equalised there to make fights fair. all based on skill.

You really didn't need to include anything about not having organs because a. kids play too and when you hit someone, its not like blood and guts go everywhere. it's like a JRPG where sparks fly and a bunch of numbers pop up to say how much damage you've dealt. Also, if you're going to use those wings, they'd be fighting wings and incapable of flight.

Heh, now when there's no personality section on the SU, I find that I haven't completely figured out how I want to play Arakira yet. Maybe this is better than to decide the personality beforehand! Because now I'll just let her act from what I have thought up about her history. She should create herself when we start playing, is my plan. An interesting experiment ^^

The first thing Shawn heard in the morning was a bang and then a pain in his chest. He had fallen out of bed. He got up to his nightstand and put on his glasses which he hated ever so much. The glasses just added on to his nerdy look. He checked the time at which point he realized he was late for school. Shawn took a quick shower and threw on just about the first things he saw. Skipping breakfast, Shawn darted to his bus stop where he so the last of the kids get on and the bus drove away only seconds after he got there.
"So you missed it too huh." A familar voice called out to him.
"Gus whats up? Any news on the game?"
Shawn talked to his friend who was a fat little dude about 5'5'' and brown hair that look messed up.
"Ya it's out!" Gus replyed.
"You want to go and get it now seeing we missed the bus?"
"Ya sure lets go!"
Shawn started on the short walk it was to GameStop. The three blocks it was to get there though felt like hours as they had supported the CLOUD project since day one. They entered the small store filled to the roof with differnt video games. They walked up to counter and met the store clerk. They knew the man very well so well in fact he occasionlly gave them free games.
"Hello Shawn. Hello Gus. How may I help you today?"
"We would like two copys of CLOUD please." Shawn asked.
"Ok let me see if we have anymore." The clerk said walking to the back of the room.
Shawn's heart sank deep into his abdomine. How could they possibly be out at this time of day! Well it was day of release so maybe there wasn't anything to be worried about.
The store clerk came back to tell them,
"I only have one copy so I need to know who gets it."
"Rock, Paper, Scissors." Shawn and Gus said in unison.
"Best two of three." Gus told him.
They hit there fists against there palms Gus chose paper, Shawn chose scissors.
So far so good. Thought Shawn.
Again for a second time this time Gus chose rock and Shawn chose scissors.
Oh no This is it. He thought.
Shawn was now shaking from anxiety this next move decided wheter he would get the game he had always supported.
"Rock, Paper, Scissor, Shoot!" and with that Gus chose rock and Shawn chose paper.
He did it. He actually was able to buy the game he wanted for so long!
Trembling Shawn turned around to face the clerk who smiled and said
"I have never seen a more intense game of Rock, Paper, Scissors ever."
He handed the game over to Shawn giggling as they left the store.
"Good Luck!"
The store clerk called to them as the doors closed behind them.

Daemon Appearance: Clicky clicky. There are a few things different about his Daemon though, so use the image as a reference please. Contrary to the image, Dwayne's Daemon is actually black, with the visible chainmail being a dark grey. And the crosses thrown about the Daemon in the image are replaced by C's in this font. And as a last little edit to the picture, all that is yellow in the picture, is white for Dwayne's Daemon.

Hikoru has blonde hair which flows to the side a bit, but never running too far down from the top of his head. It’s just... there. He has a pretty little face with blue eyes, and a mediocre nose and mouth to go along with it. His smile is something memorable- save that memory, because some people don’t see it much. He wears a blue (zippered) hoodie, and an amulet from his father, which is yellow and brown in a 9X9 checkered pattern. It converts into a USB by pulling the bottom three squares off. He wears a belt over brown pants, and black fingerless gloves which are made out of cloth. Never leather. His black shoes cover his feet, which are approximately size 12 in mens.

At home, Hikoru rarely receives visitors, prompting him to wear thick, green, and plaid pyjamas and a white t-shirt, along with some brown sandals and his hair just a bit more messy. If not, he’ll be wearing a pair of cargo shorts and even then the trademark white t-shirt, with his brown sandals as expected. Rarely he is seen walking barefoot or just wearing socks, because the floor is pretty darn cold on a 4th floor apartment.

AltoMeteor isn’t exactly your average guild. Made up of astronomy buffs and dungeon explorers, for some reason AltoMeteor is an awesome mix. They tend to explore dungeons in RAIN or STORM, mostly RAIN. However, some of the higher level members (about 10%) tend to stay in STORM, and sometimes ALTO. The name of the guild is based on the name of the founder, Meteoralto, who is now mysteriously inactive, with his second in command, Skyflare X, taking over in his place.

Alto Meteor usually meets up to see live feeds of astral events, like a meteor shower or space shuttle launches, because they love space. In fact, their motto is “We love space! And battles!” The guild is relatively small, only about 1000 members, prompting many of their members to team up with other guilds to help out.

ACCOLADES & ACHIEVEMENTS: Wind is the highest level Daemon on AltoMeteor. Wind is known for being one of the best people to have on any dungeon sweep, being very strong and a good team leader. He helped the guild titled THE PIRATES a couple of times among other guilds (the reason being his Daemon is practically a mercenary, a “hero for hire,” as he puts it so many times), and many times is found helping a newbie. However, he’s better known as the Purple Wind, since his remarkably great speed has helped many players out of tight squeezes, without them even learning his name. But even then, the more common people don’t know too much about him.

He’s explored one of the deepest dungeons ever recorded, about 1496 floors deep with some people from Alto Meteor. At the bottom, there was a treasure chest with valuable and rare Plasma Items. While the others took a chestplate and plasma pants, and other stuff Wind couldn’t use, Wind took the Plasma Blade, Plasma Wings, and Plasma Gun (which was gained in a PvP match with someone else who wanted it) and thus he gained the appearance of a “Purple Wind.”

DAEMON APPEARANCE:

In plain, Hikoru’s Daemon (NightlyWind, also known as just Wind or the Purple Wind) is a human. Why not? Well, he’s not just your average human. Wearing a red helmet with a spike at each end with a green visor in the middle, all that is seen is his nose and his mouth, and occasionally a blue eye or two if the light shines into it. A green Plasma Blade (adorned with a blue hilt) rests at his side, held there by a strap specifically made to hold this kind of sword. On top of himself he wears red armor, with a silver chest-plate, and on his legs the same thing, just all shiny red with black metallic shoes to go along with it. All of his armor is metallic in nature, except for his Plasma Wings, made solely for flying. Crazy maneuvers are fine, but Wind can’t slice someone’s body in half by using his wings alone. Usually, the wings barely affect anyone. Wind's Plasma Gun is hidden in his pocket for emergencies or for long ranged attacks.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:

Hikoru sat on the chair, stiff and impatient to get back to using his Daemon. He was planning to go to STORM, but college came first... he guessed. He scribbled on his notepad furiously, as others used their laptops and electronic devices. He wished he could have one of his own, but his pride and joy was the PC that sat at the apartment, always running CLOUD and the more important part of his life. He sighed as he listened to the professor talk endlessly about history. He wanted to participate in Game Design, not stupid Archaeology!

The class ended, thankfully the last class of the day. Hikoru sat on the 1 Train, almost missing the stop as he thought about the state of AltoMeteor, that stupid Skyflare X ruling it like a tyrant. Whatever. He was a mercenary anyway, a hero for hire. Jogging up the stairs, he grasped the handrail, as it was properly named, and then began another trip up an escalator. He didn’t belong to a guild... even though he did. He sighed. The stairs, the vast emptiness of space, it was beautiful. Worth it, totally. Perhaps someday he could make an add on to CLOUD where he could traverse space.

Gamestop was empty that day, and Hikoru sat down, booting the laptop and accessing ALTO, informing his boss he was at work, and then returning to CIRRUS to find his guild.

Hello NightlyWind! The leader of your guild, Skyflare X, would like to speak with you.

“Where the heck have you been, Wind?!” Skyflare X, the tyrant of AltoMeteor, pretended to be agitated.

“I’ve been getting something called an education. Do you happen to know what that is?”

“My d-d-days are better spent on CLOUD!” Skyflare spluttered.

“Whatever. I’m at work. Chill. What happened anyway?” Hikoru knew something had happened if
Skyflare started the way he did.

“I need you to solve a dispute while I do... more important matters.”

“You mean gambling?!” My god, Hikoru thought, I would make a better leader then
him.

“Ye- I mean, no. Just something on ALTO.”

“Right. Who are these two, anyway?”

“Chroma and Yuki. They’re fighting over... whether they should go to RAIN or to STORM, and it got so intense they’re battling it out on PvP.” ChromaIsla and Yukio. Nice. That was going to be a battle to watch.

“Righhhttt... I’ll handle it.” Of course, Chroma and Yuki were such polar opposites they would go PvP on each other to handle something. Well, they shared the fact that they were both willing to go to such lengths to do so.

In the stands of the ACID arena, Wind sat and watched the battle, noting flaws. He wasn’t going to split them up- that was Skyflare’s job. Idiot. Post-battle, after seeing Chroma win, Wind went down to congratulate the winner and speak to the loser. But that wasn’t exactly what happened. He met up with Chroma and Yukio, but a dispute had already started once again.

“Great job, Chroma!” Wind began. “And you did well, Yukio.”

“I woulda done a heck of a lot better with one of those rumored anniversary items...” Yukio muttered.

“What anniversary items?” Chroma asked. Her Daemon put it’s hands at it’s hips, staring intently.

“Well the rumor is that they’ll come at the tenth anniversary...,” Wind claimed.

“In fact, there should be an announcement about it later. Like, in 3 hours.” Yukio stated. “A pre-announcement.”

“Okay. If you say so...”

“In this very arena.”

“Wait! This one?” Wind looked suprised.

“A sports one... I think. They say if you log in from 00:00 to 00:01, Japan time, you’ll already be where you need to be, and then there will be an announcement.”

“Alright, bring it! I’ll be there, for sure!” Wind yelled, pumping his fist in the air, then resuming his more confined stance. “Now... I wonder if Skyflare heard about this...”

Rest assured, Skyflare heard. Or maybe he was too busy playing poker to know he did.

MISCELLANEOUS:
1. The amulet Hikoru has is from his father, who went missing a few years ago. His father loved space, and worked for CLOUD.
2. Hikoru is a frequent player.
3. The amulet has a USB drive in it. The contents are not accessible at the moment though, strangely.
4. When looking for a new leader for AltoMeteor, Skyflare X fought some possible candidates in the ACID arena and bribed the rest- except for Wind. Mostly because he was scared, but also because Wind had stated that he wasn’t going to participate.
5. Hikoru lives with a dog in an apartment on 157th Street, Building 600. It is paid for by his mother, who is rich due to his father, a scientist. The dog’s name is Kiko.
6. Hikoru does approve of gambling to an extent, but not drinking or smoking.
7. The "Alto" in AltoMeteor does not refer, or is associated with, the downtown of Cloud referred to as ALTO.

I do like your sign up, the character seems quite original! Unfortunately, there's just a few things that you could fix up~

Your pictures for your character and DAEMON are very small and hard to make out. If you could maybe find better pictures or perhaps just write up the appearance, that would be grande.

Also, you have very odd spacing when it comes to characters speaking. It doesn't really read nicely (well, to me anyway) when they are all bunched up together like that. If, in future, you could space them out better, that would also be really great!
