Pokémon Direct - January 8th

• Iwata goes through a rough history of Pocket Monsters titles.
• Iwata then announces new titles for the Nintendo 3DS. Yes folks, the 3DS. (Is that a good thing?)
• New starter Pokémon (discuss the new starters) - Chespin, Fennekin and Froakie
• The world is rendered completely in 3D!
  • And so are battles.

• Obligatory new legendary Pokémon with an X and Y motif (talk about them)
• Titles are Pokémon X and Pokémon Y (discuss).
• The games will be releasing in America, Japan, Europe and Australia in October this year.

A New Eeveelution! - February 11th

Discuss it here.

• Early scans from the cover of February's issue of CoroCoro revealed the silhouette of a new Pokémon.
  • Later revealed inside to be a new Eeveelution named Ninfia.
• On February 14th, The Pokémon Company released a thirty-four second clip of Ninfia (see below) along with its official English name: Sylveon.
• It is the lightest Eeveelution to date.
  • Height: 1.0m ; 3'03"
  • Weight: 23.5kg ; 51.8lbs
• Its type and method of evolution are currently unknown.

A New Pokémon Revealed! Mewthree is that you? - April 6th

Discuss it here.

• Pokémon Smash, a Japanese variety show, revealed a new Pokémon.
• It is said to share a connection with Mewtwo and looks very similar in appearance.
  • Its name, type, and further details are currently unknown.
• It will appear in the new movie, "Pokémon Extremespeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens." (Come talk about it)
• Like Sylveon before it, "Newtwo" comes with its own short trailer video (see below).
• Early CoroCoro scans from April's edition revealed the Pokémon to be a new form of Mewtwo.

The Kalos Region, Protagonists, Pokémon and more! - May 14th

May brought us quite a number of unexpected surprises for what is to be expected in Pokémon X and Y. Screenshots and new game footage can be found below.

Welcome to the Kalos Region

• On May 14th, The Pokémon Company revealed the name of the new region, the Kalos region.
  • In Japan, it is known as the Karos region.
• It is in the shape of a star and closely resembles France. (Discuss it here)
• The main city is of the region is called Lumiose City. (Talk about it)
• Clicking the image of the Kalos map below will direct you to a larger image.

The Protagonists! Oh yeah, and player customization is a real thing now...

• Official artwork of the male and female protagonists were revealed. (What do you think?)
• You will be allowed to customize the protagonist you choose. This goes as far as:
  • Hair Color
  • Eye Color
  • Skin Color
  • Outfits
  • Accessories
• Throughout the game you will be able to find new outfits and accessories. You can also go back and change them as many times as you want, whenever you want.
• What do you think about player customization? Two thumbs up?

Pancham, Gogoat, Fletchling, and Helioptile: Four New Pokémon Unleashed!

• Four new Pokémon are revealed. (Talk about them here)

1. Pancham, the Naughty Pokémon
   • Based off the giant panda
   • Fighting type
   • Height: 0.6m ; 2'07"
   • Weight: 8.0kg ; 17.6lbs
   • Can learn the move Parting Shot
     • Lowers the opponent's Attack and Special Attack stats before switching out.
2. Gogoat, the Ride Pokémon
   • Based off a goat
   • Grass type
   • Height: 1.7m ; 5'07"
   • Weight: 91.0kg ; 200.6lbs
   • Players are able to ride on Gogoat throughout the Lumiose City. (Cool, right?)
   • It is currently unknown if this ability is available to other Pokémon and in other locations.
3. Fletchling, the Japanese Robin Pokémon
   • Inspired by the Japanese Robin
   • Normal/Flying type
   • Height: 0.3m ; 1'00"
   • Weight: 1.7kg ; 3.7lbs
4. Helioptile, the Generation Pokémon
   • Based off of the Frill-necked lizard, or maybe the spotted salamander, or some kind of lizard.
   • Electric/Normal type
   • Height: 0.5m ; 1'08"
   • Weight: 6.0kg ; 13.2lbs
   • Learns the move, Parabolic Charge
     • The Electric-type alternative to Absorb. The user user damages the opponent and regains 50% of the damage inflicted.

Other new things!

• It appears as though walking and standing diagonally is a thing now. (Yay or nay?)
• The PokéDex consists of three parts: Central Kalos, Coastal Kalos, and Mountain Kalos (Thoughts?)
• From screenshots and gathered knowledge, Zigzagoon, Linoon, the Eeveelutions, Azurill, Marill, and Azumarill all seem to be part of the Kalos Regional PokéDex.
• YOU CAN SIT ON BENCHES!
• The official box art for the Japanese and English copies were revealed. (Which do you prefer?)
