Is it me or is Rated in the wifi harder then Free rated? I seem to have a more difficult time there

In a way, yes. In the Rating mode the battles are more competitive since they count for an actual score rating as opposed to just wins. I believe that the scores take into account your losses as well as your wins. These scores (correct me if im wrong) are sometimes used in official competitions to place you against even competition. So all in all, more competitive = harder battles.
