Hey everyone I've decided that I want to do competitive battling on Black 2, but I'm not sure what Pokemon would be best to form a team. Do you think some of you could pick out five Pokemon that would make a great team? (I say five because I've already picked out Jolteon for my first choice, and I'm not changing it). And if you can can you tell me what use the Pokemon would be best for? (You'd think I would already know what they are best at but sadly I don't LOL). Thanks everyone, it means a lot!

List:
(UPDATED)

Drapion
Togekiss
Blastoise
Gliscor
Scrafty
Poliwrath
Milotic
Heracross
Ludicolo
Donphan
Ambipom
Swampert
Walrein
Kecleon
Infernape
Roserade
Lickilicky
Salamence
Sudowoodo
Dragonite
Metagross
Dusknoir
Golurk
Pinsir
Muk
Krookodile
Rotom (Heat, Wash, Frost, Fan, or Mow)

Look at Smogon's tier list for the Pokémon that are viable in OU. Normally, I'd pick out any specifics out of your list, but it's too big. xD

Technically, every single one of those pokemon has the potential to be great. Personally, I like to follow a motto of "Don't choose the best, pick your favourites and make them the best," so if you tell me your favourites out of that huge list, I can give you a great setup for each one.

Oh does my team have to be in the same tiers? I honestly don't have a clue about competitive battling lol, so I'm not allowed to use a team with Pokemon from different tiers?

It's possible to use Pokémon from different tiers in the same team, but the environment you must play in with that team is the Pokémon in the highest tier among them. Say you use a team of Dragonite, Metagross, Scrafty, Donphan, Roserade and Golurk. You must play in the OU tier because Dragonite, Metagross and Donphan are OU Pokémon. Roserade and Scrafty are in UU, while Golurk is in NU.

A Pokémon's movepool, type and/or base stats determine its viability in the OU tier, which is the main tier everyone plays.

Oh I see, so if I had four Pokemon in UU and two in OU I would have to play UU? Well if I still get to use a mix of tiers that's not bad. But I should have a team with at least three in OU because most people probably play in that tier, right?

Wait nevermind I just noticed you said OU is the main tier lol.

No. You still play the OU tier as you have 2 OU Pokémon in the team. OU Pokémon can't be used in UU, RU and NU. UU Pokémon can't be used in RU and NU. RU Pokémon can't be used in NU.

Here are what the tiers mean:
-Uber (Pokémon that are too good in OU go here)
-OverUsed (OU)
-UnderUsed (UU)
-RarelyUsed (RU)
-NeverUsed (NU)

Oh I see, that makes plenty of sense. I think I will take a look at these tier groups. This might actually make my team building easier. Thanks a lot!

WAY to much work to make something for every pokemon on there man, if you pick the 5 you intend to use I can do the rest easy. On possible team could go something like this:

Donphan: Earthquake, Seed Bomb, Ice Shard and Head Smash. Give it Leftovers.

Dragonite: Dragondance, outrage, fire punch, thunderpunch. Give a lum berry to cure the outrage confusion

Heracross: Megahorn, close combat, stone edge, swords dance. Give it either a choice scarf or a white herb.

Ambipom: Fake out, return, low kick, shadow claw. Give it a lifeorb and make sure it''s ability is technician. Send him out first

Salamance: It's like having two dragonites, set it up similarly. As long as it has outrage and dragondance you should be good. You can also give him a focus sash to cover his ice weakness. Try to get one with the Moxie ability, it helps a lot

I'm afraid I have to disagree on Dragonite. It doesn't need ThunderPunch; its only notable target is Gyarados, who's still hit hard by Outrage anyway:
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Fire Punch
-ExtremeSpeed/Earthquake/Roost
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk/4 SDef/252 Spe
Item: Leftovers/Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale

or
-Outrage
-ExtremeSpeed
-Fire Punch/Waterfall
-Earthquake/Superpower
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Item: Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale

or
-Draco Meteor
-Fire Blast/Flamethrower
-Thunder Wave
-Roost
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 HP/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale

or
-Dragon Tail
-Substitute
-Thunder Wave/Flamethrower
-Roost
Nature: Careful
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 SDef
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale

And I'm afraid I have to disagree on Donphan being used for all-out offense too; it's better off as an offensive Rapid Spinner to clear away entry hazards:
-Earthquake
-Rapid Spin
-Head Smash/Stone Edge/Stealth Rock
-Ice Shard
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Def
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy

Heracross is somewhat defensively weak to use Swords Dance, though its Special Defense is decent:
-Megahorn
-Close Combat
-Stone Edge
-Sleep Talk/Night Slash/Pursuit
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Item: Choice Band/Choice Scarf
Ability: Guts/Moxie

or
-Megahorn
-Close Combat
-Facade
-Stone Edge/Night Slash
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Item: Flame Orb
Ability: Guts

or
-Substitute
-Megahorn
-Close Combat
-Stone Edge
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spe
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Guts

Yache Berry covers the Ice weakness more easily than Focus Sash, IMO, on Salamence

Well if I had to come up with a team out of my list, it would be:

Jolteon
Ludicolo
Salamence
Scrafty
Donphan
and I'm not too sure what to have for a sixth Pokemon. Maybe Roserade to set up Toxic Spikes? I'm not sure.

Ludicolo is only good on Rain teams, due to its Rain Dish ability or if it's there to check opposing Rain teams. IMO, Kingdra is a better rain check because its dual STABs have good neutral coverage.

Okay, so

Jolteon
Kingdra
Salamence
Scrafty
Donphan

I feel as though I could use a Pokemon that good with afflicting statuses, but I'm not sure what to use for that kind of job. So far I think my team is looking quite good, despite not knowing good move sets for some of them.

Cool, thanks a lot! And I think I'll use that offensive Rapid Spinner move set for Donphan that you stated earlier. As for my sixth Pokemon I'm still not sure. Once I think of one I might try and come up with my own move set for it. Thanks a lot!
