I said it in another thread but I think it would be really cool if we have communities (like in Mario Kart) and have sort of a clubhouse base where when you enter them you're actually online and you can see your community members in the secret base.

I miss the secret bases... I linked up with my friends a lot and I enjoyed being albe to battle them all the time. Plus, I got a copy of Ruby that was used, and it had mixed records with many games before that too. So all my friends had a lot of interaction in secret bases all the time. I really enjoyed that. It's like a multiplayer feature that you don't have to do at the same time as your friends if they're not available at the same time. And with wifi and friend codes, if they brought back secret bases (or something similar) then it'd be much easier to get many more secret bases in your game.

RSE style secret bases weren't all that appealing in the end since I too never synced my game with anyone else. But what with online and that 3DS street thingy, it could really be a lot more exciting for players. Imagine running around the map one day and seeing an entrance that just wasn't there before.

I liked the idea of overworld Secret Bases. I always felt that they were fun to play with, and in Gen 3 you basically had to mix records to get someone else's Secret Base in your game. With Wifi/NN I think this could be greatly enhanced.

I did not like the idea of an "Underworld" solely consisting of tunnels and secret bases though. I much prefer that they be in the overworld properly like R/S/E did it. Perhaps making your secret base a Fly point would also be nice, because you should be able to get there any time.

I think the secret base concept could easily be a very fun way to introduce more mechanics into the game, like GTS style trading among your friends by simply having them visit your secret base and send the Pokemon you requested. Imagine being able to deposit your Pokemon on the GTS in a special box, or having a special option set, and have that deposit being made known to everyone on your friends list, so that in case your friend has the Pokemon you seek and wants what you've offered, you can asynchronously trade with them, virtually eliminating issues with live trading like time zone constraints. So by simply giving them the location of your Secret Base and having them as a friend in game, they would be able to at any time initiate the trade and take your offer.

Not to mention the fun of having a way of challenging your friends teams within the secret base like R/S/E and fighting them to gain items or experience.

With all that said, certain mechanics could be borrowed from Gen 4. Secret bases should be much bigger than they were in R/S/E. Sure you can have your secret base in a normal tree and have it be small and cozy, but why not a giant tree? Why not be able to make it expandable to more than that if you want to sacrifice the secrecy and build a Treehouse on top of a larger and more sturdy tree? Why not be able to use any building not occupied by NPCs in any city, or serving any other purpose than to fill the map if you feel like buying the place once you've beaten the champion? There are limitless possibilities for placing your secret base. Maybe you don't want buy a whole building, but rent a floor of a typical high rise building or residence? These different types of places would naturally be of different prices and sizes.

In fact, I wouldn't be offended if they created a sort of trainer tower like place for all visiting trainers (to your game) to stay in. You'd start out in a small room like the regular secret bases in R/S/E did, but you'd also be able to upgrade to bigger sizes as your game progresses if you want to buy them.

Secret Bases would be GREAT. I loved getting to collect all of the furniture and being able to move it around. In my opinion, the Villa in Platinum didn't have the right feel, and it didn't seem right to have it basically at the end of the game. If it was somewhere in the middle, the player could go around on their travels whilst looking out for pieces of furniture, like in R/S/E.

It would! Because having your own secret place on a secret island would be interesting. Imagine if you found wild mons there every once in a while, so it'd be like... hidden hollows but with your own hideout :3

This is almost exactly what I was thinking! In a similar fashion to how you can store Pokémon in the PC, you should also be able to store a dozen or so in your secret garden.

I'm picturing a small, quaint cottage tucked away in the mountains, right next to a decently sized pond. Your Pokémon would be waddling around doing their own thing, snuggling and playing with eachother. Perhaps you could customize your backyard with different stuff, and this would somehow affect your Pokémon, like their friendship level, or it would give some other unique beneficial effect. You'd be able to customize the cottage to your liking as well, of course, maybe even manage your own crops and plants for alchemical purposes... Yeah.

I never actually played around with the secret base feature... but after becoming addicted to filling my dreamworld house with pokedolls... I'd like to see it back in the game! I'm planning on going back and playing platinum so I'll probably look into the villa on there.

Oh Oh Oh!! And a back part of it all is a small space where Ditto and other Pokemon can -insert sexual innuendo here- all day, everyday!

On the other note managing crops and plants is like border line Harvest Moon but adding taking care of your live stock(Pokemon) will be a literal Harvest Moon part of the game. I'd leave that out.

Maybe hidden bases wars. Battle trainers for the/their biggest mofo hidden bases or territoy. But thats some what obscure.

I loved the ability to pick a secret base from almost literally anywhere in the region in RSE, but I loved how complex and sophisticated the villa in Platinum is. It'd be really cool to include a feature where there are several small empty houses just kinda scattered around the region that give you the option to buy or something.

Secret Bases.
They were really fun. I like the Villa, too, but really, Secret Bases have some sort of charm. Maybe you could get people via StreetPass and when you battle over Wi-Fi, like Join Avenue, and various NPC could visit as well, including your mum. They would stay for a few days, and in that time you can battle or buy items from them. And you could play minigames in there...There's so many possibilities!

As I'm hoping for a huge upgrade in Online interaction with the coming of X & Y, I hope some form of housing for berry growing would be implemented. I'd also like to see something like the build the Safari Zone, type of thing introduced, I love the idea of attracting pokes. Heck, any kind of concepts to be applied from something like Animal Crossing would be epic. The general housing, collecting and nurturing theme meshes so well with Pokemon. Though based on the trailer, I feel it will be more platform based, driven more towards adventure... But here's hoping! Definitely my vote goes for Villa (As I always felt the Secret base thing was pretty lame.

Would be great to have our own park where we could put our pokemon to live instead of putting them into a box.

I would love an average home, with a room/yard for my PC Pokemon. That would be pretty awesome, so they never get homesick. Ooh, maybe even Wild Pokemon bushes in the yard to train?

Having your own house would be awesome! Of course, when starting off in your game, your character pretty much already lives in a house, but I mean a house of your own, of course, and I definitely agree with that. n____n It should be like, when you're near your house, you have the option to let your Pokemon out of their Pokeballs just to relax and hang out and stuff, really, and you'd be able to interact with them!

One of the best things about RSE, and one of the three good things about DPt (I hated DP).
Secret Bases were incredible. Especially when mixing records and you could visit your friend's Secret Bases. So imagine underground AND overground Secret Bases with the following incredible features.
-Streetpass to get friend's bases
-Choose a Pokemon to stay in your Secret Base (as a pet or a guard or something)
-Dream World decorations can be used as Secret Base decor too
-Put items in there for other people to get
I also reckon it'd be great to battle someone in their Secret Base again, but getting EXP as well.
The bases could also work a bit like Black City/White Forest in the sense that wild Pokemon could appear (like the basics of the Pokemon in your party or something).
Where do you stand on Secret Bases coming back?

There's actually an active discussion about secret bases going on already, so I'm just going to merge your thread there.

One of the reasons why I'd really like to see the return of secret bases is because of the many new features they can incorporate with it. Being on the 3DS there are a lot more features they can include from what they were able to do in DPPt and the underground bases. Not so sure I'd like to see the Dream World extended to it though.

I'd love to see Secret Bases return.
Being a little kid at the time of RSE, I never actually got to experiment with mixing records. However, with the save file of Emerald I have, I plan to make a nice-looking Secret Base. It'd be quite nice to see one in 3D guess you'd better hope Hoenn is confirmed guys, and the possibilites are endless.

I imagine XY will have Secret Bases, RS remakes certainly will, I assume they'd want to have them across Gen VI.

I really hope they do implement an online/offline secret base or neighborhood system. It was one of the things I thought was really unique about 3rd gen.

Overall, they should put in a lot more reasons to play online that aren't just about battling, seeing as the majority of online battlers never use legit Pokemon that they actually took the time to Breed, EV train, level up, etc.
