Both Snype and Levina made their agreement on the plan. They just needed to figure out where the rest of the Gold Tribe commanders were at ad try to take out their leaders. However it seemed they were being watched as well. The Madman sent two more troops their way. Levina was hit by the psychic blast but Snype used Detect to swiftly avoid the rocks floating his way. Snype would be immune to any Psychic attacks these two would throw at him. So much for their plan! Looks like the Madman knew very well of their presence. A psychic himself perhaps... That would make killing him pretty tough... time to focus on the matter at hand!

"Kehehe, sending two psychics after a Dark Type? Not the smartest move ever... kehehe..." Snype said. Levina got up from her hit and went after the Grumpig. Snype would have a better advantage going against the Kirlia. Everything else was already getting pretty out of control. The sky was dark, there were several earthquakes occuring. He could hear alot of noise. Looks like the Gold Tribe were occupied with someone else.

Snype aimed to attack the Kirlia with his claws, while Levina engaged the Grumpig with a Thunderbolt attack.

Paladin vs The Crusher

Silence followed suit. Sovereign stood, his eyes closed, and his hide a deep purple. The sky still hanged black. As Paladin moved in to attack, Sovereign's arm reached out, and caught the attack mid swing. His breathing was a dull, growling pant. his eyes slowly opened, revealing that they had become completely black. There wasn't even any gloss to them, as if they ate up any light that hit them.

Sovereign opened his maw, and roared with incredible force, as a pair of great, black dragon wings of immense size emerged from his back. Once the roar was finished, the wings flapped a couple of times. Sovereign hunched over, like a wild animal, and sniffed the air. His focus was caught by a scent from behind, something familiar to the beast. An unfinished kill, from years before. With greater speed than anyone could expect from a Tyranitar, he turned around swiftly, and charged towards the still Blaziken, whom he had been denied so long ago.

Paladin retracted his arm from Sovereign's grasp with ease since it didn't seem to be him that the best was interested in now. His rock-like skin had become a dark purple, and in the darkness generated by the shadow sky above them, it appeared as if the blackness of his eyes was nothing but a gaping hole, leaving empty eye sockets. The wings, seemingly born of that vile energy which had been whipping around before, flapped twice. Paladin looked, stunned. "What are you...?" He muttered. Sovereign then hunched over, seeminlgy no longer interested in the giant Golurk looming before him. In one swift motion, the monster turned around and began charging at... the Blaziken. Paladin couldn't believe it; after all that, he was no longer interested. Now he wanted to beat up innocents again. "Oh no you don't, you piece of-" Paladin grunted as he stepped forward, reached out, and grabbed Sovereign's stubby legs, causing him to topple over.

Sovereign growled and snapped on the ground at the still Blaziken. "GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" He cried as he slammed his tail down towards the Golurk who now held him in place.

His wings touched the ground, and lifted him back onto his feet. After a moment longer staring at the Blaziken, he turned to face Paladin. His displeasure was palpable. His new wings extended out as far as they could, an impressive span, before swinging down and back, thrusting Sovereign, teeth bared to Crunch into Paladin!

The attack struck full-force. Sovereign's charge was surprisingly fast and sent the two flying some ways back. Sovereign clenched his teeth tightly around Paladin's head, causing him to wince. "What...are...you..." he struggled to say as he finally managed to push the beast off him with his legs. The attack left a large gash in the shape of Sovereign's teeth on the side of Paladin's head, from which gas poured. It was the same corrosive gas from before, and it was making its way towards Sovereign. "You're dead now," Paladin said at the sight of the gas. With any luck, it would destroy Sovereign like it had done to the Ancients.

As the gas touched Sovereign, his armor began to crack. He pushed himself away from Paladin, quickly, and called out in pain as he swept his wings across to blow the gas away.

The cracks grew, as wriggling darkness emerged from them. "WrrreeeaaaaaAAAAAAAAH!!!" Sovereign rushed in, riding his wings as he released his black tendrils to grab the Paladin, and dragged him across the ground, stopping in front of a building, the momentum sending the Golurk towards it!

Paladin couldn't stop it. The tendrils wrapped tightly around his legs and arms and pulled him to the ground and across it. He smashed violently into the nearby building, causing him to go into a daze for a moment. The world seemed to swirl before him, but then he realized he was still in Sovereign's grasp.

"Enough of this!" He shouted. Paladin retracted his legs into his torso, going into flight mode. The tendrils grabbing his legs were forced to release them as a concentrated blaze of fire spewed from him. The sheer force was enough to get Paladin off the ground. He screamed as his arms were still held onto by Sovereign's tendrils, struggling to get them off him. "GGRRRRRAAAAAAAAAH!" He screamed as he slowly ascended towards the dark sky above.

The strands pulled tight! Sovereign could feel himself being pulled. He swung his wings towards the sky, trying to hold himself to the ground. but it was no use, as he was lifted up into the sky. As he rose, his wings spasmed, and coagulated. Then they split into 6 separate tentacles, and went weaving through the air towards his opponent., trying to pull himself closer.

"What?!" Paladin shouted as he took a look down. Sovereign approached, his newly formed tentacles reaching up and wrapping themselves around him at the waist and head. One of the tentacles became wrapped around Paladin's eyes, so he was now blind. Still, he released the maximum of the fiery energy he could to bring both himself and Sovereign higher up into the sky. Sovereign, meanwhile, pulled himself higher up with his tentacles, approaching the Golurk and finally grabbing him with his arms. Paladin knew he couldn't keep this up any longer. He managed to shake off the tentacle that blinded him, and locked eyes with Sovereign. "You're going down," Paladin said hatefully. "Literally."

With that, flames stopped erupting from his torso, and the two stood suspended in mid air for a second, before they began falling back to the ground. Then, Paladin put himself in a diving position so that his head faced the ground and his legs the sky, with Sovereign still grabbing hold of him. Paladin retracted his legs again and the propelling flames sped up their descent. Paladin tried to wriggle free of Sovereign's grasp, but with the powerful tentacles and tendrils laced around his body, it was impossible. They would have to go down together.

At full speed, Paladin flew towards the ground. He quickly realized he was heading for a three-story building. Before impact, Paladin shouted, "This is for my master, you vile monster!"

The crash was enormous. Paladin and Sovereign destroyed the roof of the giant building, sending debris everywhere, and did the same with the next three floors. Crash, Crash, BOOM! The impact with the ground was so enormous that it sounded more like an explosion than a crash. The resulting shockwave blasted out in all directions, destroying the foundations of the building's walls and causing any nearby fighting Pokemon to be thrust back.

After they recollected themselves, none of the fighters could see what had happened to the two behemoths who had fallen out of the sky, but they assumed that they had perished. The theory was confirmed when the walls of the building tilted in the direction of the fighters; the walls impacted with each other, crushing one another into smaller pieces which would then fall to the ground, burying Paladin and Sovereign in rubble.

Sovereign was the first to emerge, bursting forth from the wreckage. The dark tendrils retracted to him, tracing a line to where his target was. As he stood over the spot, he slammed his foot down, driving the stones of the building into Paladin.

His tentacles reached into the ruin, and retrieved 6 sharp stones, once again giving him the visage of the Legendary Dragon, Giratina. "SKRIIYAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"

Return to Ash

From the rubble, something emerged after Sovereign. Something that was shaped like Paladin, something that sounded like Paladin, but was not Paladin. It was a dark shadow of the Golurk's form. A body void of good.

With a heavy grunt, he shoved the last of the rocks off of him. However, he didn't attack Sovereign. He just stood, unmoving, so that his new form was fully visible. He was like a statue, a sickly shade of grey covering his entire body rather than just half. He had turned dark again. Finally, he moved. He lifted his arm up to his face, giving it a good look. "Hmm," he muttered, lowering his hand.

"Yes," he said calmly, "I quite like this." His eyes glowed deadly red, and soon their gaze came to rest upon Sovereign.

The beast pants became heavier and heavier as he saw what seemed to be a powerful opponent. Some part of Sovereign still wanted a good fight, and clearly this was it. He breathed with a growl as he gave the new enemy a ravenous look.

"Oh, quiet, you," he said mockingly. "It's about time somebody shut you up, you useless waste of space. What you did to my master was unforgivable. Now, what I shall do to you will be... unforgivable."

Paladin raised his fist. "Now feel this." The arm came down with devastating force. The impact of the fist with the ground sent a shockwave out into the air that propelled a wave of rocks at Sovereign. Through this wave of rocks came Paladin, at full speed in his flight mode, as if nothing had happened to him, ready with a Hammer Arm.

As the barrage of rocks came down on Sovereign, his new appendages began to radiate. 4 of them attempted to absorb some of the blow as the other two swung in to inflict Payback. The force of the blow was great, and still, despite the block, sent him flying.

Sovereign's feet skidded across the ground as he stopped in front of another building. The dark tendrils pierced the building, and brought the supports crashing out before hurdling them towards this Dark Paladin.

Hammer Arm was unleashed, and the first of the hurdled supports were crushed by the devestating power. Paladin still flew towards Sovereign at an unnatural speed for one so large as himself. With another Hammer Arm at the ready, he swiftly brought out his legs and landed a few feet away from Sovereign, who used his strange tentacles to grab one of the walls of the nearby building and fling it at the Golurk. Paladin prepared a Shadow Punch in both his fists, and as the wall neared, struck it with intense force. Although the impact forced him back a few feet, the wall smashed into pieces, the rubble falling to reveal an almost unscathed Paladin.

"That all you got?"

Paladin was next to attack, stomping his foot on the ground to generate shockwaves beneath the earth, which got the tectonic plates moving again. Another Earthquake. This one would shake the entire city. All around, Pokemon began falling to the ground and buildings started crashing down, crushing anybody inside them. Above the two monsters, the building which Sovereign had used to attack Paladin began falling apart completely, its rubble heading for the Tyranitar.

The tentacles merged together, and spread once again, as a massive pair of dragon's wings! They wrapped Sovereign, in a protective coccoon, as the building came toppling down from above. At the impact, the black shape emerged, flying into the air through the other side of the building. At the apex of his climb, the wings unfulred, as he let out another roar! Sovereign's true Outrage was now full force, as he flew towards the Paladin!

He tackled the warrior, and carried him with, as they approached the origin of their battle once again. He skidded across the ground with the Paladin in hand, until they came to a halt. Sovereign began to mercilessly crush his opponent into the ground, until he noticed it again. The scent.

He looked up to find the Blaziken, still there. His mouth salivated at the thought of tearing her limb from limb. Sovereign arose, and began to walk towards her, once again. His breathing so heavy, so thick, and the fluids pouring from his mouth. Finally, he would eat.

"You can eat after I'm done with you," Paladin said, noticing what seemed to be a hunger for this Blaziken. He got up from the ground, clearly battered. His body made creaking noises as he stood up straight again. Then, with Sovereign's back turned, he launched a devastating Hammer Arm to the beast's backside. Not waiting to see if the attack struck, he followed up with a Giga Impact, reaching his arms out to trap the Tyranitar in a bear hug as he did so.

As Paladin struck him once more with a Hammer arm, Sovereign's armor finally gave, as he exploded into a mass of shadows, a beast whose shape vaguely resembled a Tyranitar. "SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" he cried as the Golurk Impacted the monster as it unleashed ultimate Payback. The attacks collided, and the resulting shockwave shook the entire city in it's wake. The violent earthquake, unintentionally created by these two titans, created a crack, right down the center of the city, as the earth began to split. The result of this collision was a massive fissure, dividing the city. A few buildings were sucked into the fissure, but for the most part the city remained in tact, though it was left bloodied and scarred, and would never be the same.

When the cataclysmic event had ended, each combatant was on a different side of the hole. Two titans collided, but now their battle was ended. The devastation, beyond words, only the work of the Paladin and the Crusher.

Brynn vs Erratt
Hanso? Vera? It bothered her that she couldn't feel the others' minds. Brynn had been warned about the Tyranitar, of course, but this was entirely new for her. The combination of Dark and Dragon's Blood couldn't be the only reason for this...environment. Could it?

The Gardevoir was alone in the darkness, with a feeling that breaking in had been the easy part. What am I thinking? Of course breaking in is the easy part, just about every time. Still, Brynn could not help but lift a hand to rub at the gem around her neck. What to do next?...

"You..." A voice from out of the darkness. A deep, noble voice, filled with anger. "You didn't listen... You were supposed to kill the girl, and you failed..."

"Failed?" Brynn turned calmly, but she still did not see anyone else. She'd known that someone would appear in time. It was just usual that the Pokemon whose mind she'd enter was already there in the first place. "I don't see how I can fail at something I did not know of in the first place." Which of the three was this? Sovereign, the ten-year prisoner, or the monster?

A pair of yellow eyes glowed from out of the darkness. "Wait... You..." As he came out of the veil, it could be seen that he was a very old Garchomp, his face scarred. "Those eyes... they're different." He moved in close, uncomfortably so, so he could examine her. "Who are you? Why do you trespass in my son's mind?" He held up one of his blades to her throat as he spoke. "Those eyes... You're a TrueStriker."

A Garchomp. That would explain both the Dragon's Blood and the Outrage monster. Brynn remained still as the Garchomp held his blade to her throat, examining him as he did her. She sensed that words would do more to help her than trying to fight back. Some Pokemon thought that a 'battle', per se, staged within the mind did nothing to affect them. Technically, it wouldn't affect the body, but it could damage the mind, perhaps beyond repair if it was severe enough.

TrueStriker, though. "I suppose I am," the Gardevoir replied, with only a tiny tremor audible in her calm voice. "It's been a while since there have been any real TrueStrikers in the SharpEye lineage." She cleared her throat. "I'm here mainly at the request of another." Who was this girl the Garchomp had mentioned?

"It's been a very long time since I have seen your kind. Back in the days when I was in the Gold Tribe. But now is not the time for stories." He pushed the blade ever closer to her throat. "Perhaps I might have welcomed your arrival at another time, but today, you are intruding where you don't belong. So I will ask you again. Who are you?"

"Can't talk if you press too hard," Brynn retorted, taking a tiny half-step back from the blade. "I am Brynn SharpEye." She did a brief curtsy, enjoying the feeling of standing on her legs. Even if it was only in the mind. "I was under the impression that it was to help an acquaintance, ser...?"

"'Help?' This is your idea of 'help?' Do you have any idea what you've done? Sovereign has harbored darkness for so long, and now, thanks to you and your friends, he's made contact with the worst darkness in all of Valkeria." Erratt had half a mind to slit her throat where she stood.

"Brynn, eh? If you are a TrueStriker, then perhaps you will recognize my name. I am Erratt Chronos, keeper of lost knowledge, and guardian of Draco Temple." A short pause, a hesitation in his thoughts as he held the blade to her throat. "...or at least I was," he said with a great sadness that did not quite overcome him.

The Garchomp wanted to end it there and then, she could tell. "I'm not sure I know exactly what you speak of concerning the darkness, Ser Chronos," Brynn replied, opting to simply nod her head in respect this time. "I have not been with the Gold Tribe for a while now, and I only learned of this...situation just today. I don't see how I would've had a part in it."

The Gardevoir did recognize his name. Draco Temple had been a place for dragons to gather in times past, but Brynn did not know for certain how long ago that had been. "...However, if you speak of that which corrupted those now called the Sentinels, then I can assure you we're working to stop it." I wonder... "...Does this...Varren, have something to do with it?"

"Varren is a parasite!" He screamed, spinning around quickly to face the other direction. "He is a remnant of what Sovereign could have become had I not intervened. He wants Sovereign's power as his own, and so I have kept him separated from the dragon blood that flows in Sovereign's veins. But now..." His voice was somber now. "...now all seems lost. Sovereign's mind has been infected by a power far beyond what Varren is capable of. And it is YOUR fault! You, that Gallade, and the Blaziken are all responsible for this!"

"Our fault?" Brynn's voice grew hard as she replied. "You're gravely mistaken if you think that was our intention. I have no intention of letting him run free when he's being controlled by some freak prisoner or consumed by a monster lusting for power. Nor will we rest until the power controlling the Sentinels has been destroyed."

She paused, then resumed, her voice softer now. "If you want Sovereign to be cleansed, then either help me...or step aside."

"... you know, I've been trying to free him from this burden for so long. All I've wanted is to free him. Do you know what it does to you? This place? It sullies your mind and leaves you with nothing but a grim visage of who you once were. I tried to push him over the edge, so I could give him release, but really, it was just me being selfish. I want out of this place, and Sovereign's insanity was the only way to do so." he turned to look at Brynn once more. "The shadows have already begun to bond with his Dragon Blood. How do you propose we separate them?"

The Gardevoir's eyes closed as she attempted to reach out with her mind again. Brynn still could not exactly sense Hanso or Vera, but there was a sort of disturbance, faint to her mind. "Well, for one thing, it would help to have a visual of what we're tackling." These shadows would be much tougher to deal with than any Dark Pokemon's mind. If they somehow had the same Dark resilience, then it could be nigh impossible.

No, no such thing as impossible. Just, not done before by Psychics alone.

Erratt smirked. "I think I may have an idea. Follow me!" he yelled as he took off running into the darkness. "Back in Albia, Vera shoved a crystal into Sovereign's body. It had an effect on his mind as well, kept Varren and me away until its power dissipated. If you could reactivate it, it could help us deal with this darkness as well!"

Had Hanso told her about that crystal? Brynn quickly followed the Garchomp into the darkness, sifting through her knowledge of crystals and stones in general. She wasn't hitting on anything relevant at first; maybe it was something obscure. A crystal that dampened or smothered a Pokemon's Dragon-Blood? Only that didn't seem to quite explain why it would also keep Varren away. Either way, Brynn would see what it was once Erratt led her to it, then see how she could reactivate it.

Erratt stopped. "It's here," he said. But nothing seemed to be in sight. There was only darkness in all directions.

Stopping beside the Garchomp, Brynn reached out with her senses to find the crystal, or some representation of it. There was nothing to see with her eyes, it seemed, but this was the inside of a rather messed-up mind, or so she thought of it. Not everything would be visual.

"Do you know what kind of crystal?"

"It's a shard, taken from the Ice Rock. Eevee travel to the Ice Stone to become Glaceon. It is able to do more than that though. It is pure, if you could recharge it, we could purge Sovereign of this darkness before it takes hold of him." Errat reached out, and touched something in the darkness. "It only needs enough energy to last a moment. But I don't know of any way to use it. It's felt cold, ever since you got here. Are you hiding something, Truestriker?"

"Something that I normally hide from anyone." A slight smile appeared on Brynn's face. "It's rather fortunate, what the crystal is. Makes it easier for me to recharge it." As she focused on the shard of the Ice Rock, she added,"I'd stand back from the shard if I were you."

Barely after she finished speaking, the area began to feel colder. The Gardevoir raised her hands as small orbs of ice-blue energy began forming in a ring around her. Moments later, they coalesced into one larger orb, which seemed to form specks of ice along its edges. Brynn then stepped forward to where she felt the shard was and began to feed her Ice Hidden Power into it.

Erratt, stepped back and watched as energy poured into the crystal. "Impressive." The crystal began to flicker, producing a light blue glow upon the area. As the light spread, Erratt cried out in pain, and fell to the ground. "I do not belong to the light any more." He turned his face to Brynn, revealing his true nature. A disfigured, hideous face was looking up at her. "What have I become, Truestriker?"

Brynn did not turn away from the crystal until she was sure it was charged. She wasn't surprised by Erratt's cry of pain; Ice was a known weakness of Dragons. At his next words, however, the Gardevoir turned to face him, then recoiled in startlement, one hand going up to her mouth. Eyes wide, Brynn couldn't speak for a moment.

I didn't realize this before now... Hanso! Vera! They needed to leave now, before whatever had done this to Erratt got to them as well. Wait, the crystal. Brynn turned quickly to make sure that it was charged.

Light pulsated through the area, revealing horrors unseen before, and burning them away. The energy spread, but there was no way to know if it would really help until they left. "You should go, Truestriker, while you still can. There is no hope left for me. I failed my only son, I'm nothing but a monster now. An empty shell of what I once was. But there's still hope for him, please help him like I couldn't. Tell him the path he takes is not the one he needs. Tell him he needs to go home. Please, do it for me..."

Lowering her hand to the gem around her neck, Brynn cleared her throat and quietly said, "I will."

Erratt seemed to pass out after that, though that term really has no bearing in a world created in the mind. In the light of the crystal, the way back to the outside appeared to Brynn, but it was not what she had left. The city was marred by destruction, and the buildings were in ruins.

Were they too late? There was only one way to find out. "Hanso, Vera!" Brynn's eyes lit up with relief, the Gardevoir approaching the way back out. Her telepathic connections to them were back up. "It's time to go."

The Dark Unknowing
Hanso vs Varren

Darkness stretched in all directions. An infinite void. Floating in the darkness was a small platform, of uprooted earth. There were several other platforms that seemed to lead to nowhere. the path was illuminated by an unseen light which seemed so dim. The absolute silence, the likes of which no one can find in the real world, a most unsettling sound. A demon waits, hiding in the darkness. He knows a visitor is on the way. What a joy to have a guest. Someone to play with.

Looking back, if he were to live long enough to look back, Hanso would have felt that Sovereign's mind had been, to date, perhaps the most difficult that the SharpEye twins had broken into. It was like a massive stone wall of darkness that they were drilling into, a catastrophic storm that left any it struck spiraling to their death. Well, if it could have been described in the first place.

After forever, or a split second, Hanso found himself on a small earthen platform. Turning revealed to him the infinite void, the dimly lit path of platforms, the absolute silence. Don't think I've seen a mind like this before, have you? Wait. Hanso turned again, then looked around once more. Snap! Where'd the others go? Brynn! Vera!

No reply. It was as if their network had dissolved. Except we've never separated before. Facing the path once more, Hanso sighed, then stepped forward to cross. He could not see where the path ended, or if it did, but it seemed that this mind's occupants had some rules of their own. At least for now.

Each platform bobbed, like boat floating on the water, with each step Hanso took. The path seemed to go on forever as Hanso moved ever forward. "What is this? A mouse caught in a trap? What fun! I've been needing some entertainment, it does get rather dull around here, and it has been so long since I had a guest." The voice was wicked, and harsh. To anyone who was familiar, he sounded just like he belonged in an old gang from Albia.

"What shall we do to pass the time, Hanso? Last time we met we had so much fun. And I'm sure you'll find that I have so much more I can do here. So, what shall we do...?"

Hanso halted as the voice began speaking, chills running down his back. He tried to shake the feeling as he looked around again. There was no sign of another being that he could see, but it would be difficult for the Gallade to forget the voice. "Varren. You're the one I came for, actually."

A mouse in a trap. Was that what this path here was? Hanso turned back to look the way he'd come. "I suppose it won't end if I go back, will it?"

As luck would have it, that was exactly what Hanso needed to do. A door of grand scale and design had appeared right behind him as he turned to look back. The door was white, and was decorated with oddly gothic designs. It screamed fancy, on a decadent scale. The door had a ring knocker, held by a modeled head of a Druddigon.

"How nice of you to finally arrive. Do come in, the guests are waiting ever so patiently for your arrival, but I'm afraid the party has started without you."

Party? Another one? Though I couldn't call wakin' up in a room with an Abra and plenty of food a party, after being gassed. Hanso cautiously approached the door, eyes roaming over the designs. It struck him as something a homicidal killer might appreciate.

Looking around one more time to make sure he wasn't being snuck up on, Hanso lifted the ring knocker and let it drop. How long before he could take charge?

The sound of the knocker echoed across the empty abyss. As the ringing came to a halt, the door cracked open, a blinding light pouring through. When the light subsided, the door was found to be hanging open, with an open, white, ball room inside. There was a stair way in the back of the room, which split off in both directions. The room was decorated as if for a grand celebration. The room was completely void of life, however. The sound of a band playing a joyous dance tune could be heard. It would be most relaxing if not for the fact that every single not was off key, resulting in a most disturbing atmosphere.

"Come in, come in. We have been so bored without you. Please, liven the party!"

Hanso couldn't help but be a little smart-aleck. "Certainly needs livening up," he called back. "Trying to combine a ball and a mausoleum, are you?" Though normally, dead Pokemon were buried in mausoleums.

He needed to keep the atmosphere from getting to him, needed to not freak out, in short. For a moment, Hanso tried to imagine this ballroom the way it would be in real life, with Pokemon and a normal band. Then thoughts of Genevieve started coming, and he tried to cut the whole thing off in his mind.

"HA! Mausoleum, that's a good one! How fitting." One by one, Pokemon began to appear within the ballroom. They danced to the music, as if in celebration. The Pokemon were varied. There were some Machoke off to the side, not dancing at all. Pokemon bearing Gold Tribe medals, and even some Ancients, could be seen all around. Some of them were just ordinary citizens. Among them was a Lucario, possibly the King of Thieves. This was all fine and good, but all of them were missing their face. "Allow me to introduce, the victims of Sovereign "The Crusher," Sentinel of the Silver Tribe."

Okay, how had Sovereign managed to go for ten years with this freak in his head? Hanso only stepped aside when it seemed like one or another of the faceless Pokemon would bump into him if he didn't move. It was difficult to identify any of the Pokemon, even if some did have Gold Tribe medals.

Seeing the Lucario, Hanso frowned and began walking closer, still avoiding the other Pokemon. Was that Roswell? "So the Silver Tribe attacked the Thieves' Village?" he asked aloud. "I'm not sure if I should be surprised or not."

The Lucario turned towards Hanso for a moment, as if to look at him. Suddenly, a flood of memories rushed into his mind, he seemed to be falling, but he could see Sovereign standing above in a great tree.

The great hall was filled with people who all suffered similar fates. As they all turned to look at Hanso, each one's last memory was sent cascading uncontrollably into his mind. A flood of death and destruction, a collage of torment and hatred.

Hanso's hands flew up to clutch his head as the memories came. He didn't have time to think about the Lucario's last memory before the others came crashing in, leaving no room for thought. Stop it... It was both drawn out and a blur, each memory relived yet taking an instant in time.

Finally, one last memory came. More vivid than any of the others. The owner of the memory was looking over a scene with a group of Machoke, who looked very similar to the ones at the party, fighting with a Combusken of small stature and faded feather. A lowly Larvitar lay on the ground already, completely unconscious. Can't do anything right, can they. He thought to himself. He floated down to where the battle ready Combusken was, and whispered, "Sleep..." She staggered a bit before also collapsing to the ground. The Machoke proceeded to beat her while she was unconscious, soft sounds of pain could be heard coming from her mouth. The memory turned to examine the Larvitar.

Vera. Not quite the same species, but Hanso recognized her size and faded colors. Just a memory. Yet he tried to call out to the Combusken, warn her before whoever this was got to her.

"How foolish to defy me. Varren always gets what he wants." The Combusken let out a painful cry, carrying into the ears of the Larvitar which lay before Varren. It's eyes slowly opened, catching Varren off guard. "Wha..." the eyes Varren saw were a deep yellow. "Wh-What is this? Some kind of trick? You think changing your eye color will scare me!?" Varren struck him with a Shadow Punch, but somehow the Larvitar's body did not move.

He saw what was coming. He could feel it even before the memory's bearer looked up at the black sky. They don't stand a chance. Didn't, didn't stand a chance.

Varren noticed that the sounds of the Machoke assaulting the Combusken had stopped. When he looked over, they were all staring into the sky. When Varen looked up, he could see it was black as night. What followed was a mixture of chaos and distorted memories, completely unintelligible. When the chaos ended, Varren was once again looking at the sky, but this time he was on the ground, helplessly waiting.

"I lost EVERYTHING because of an insignificant little worm!" The memory faded away revealing the hall once again, but now it was empty and decrepit.

His lungs filled with breath again, or seemed to, and Hanso's eyes opened as he looked up. Now he knew more of what this Varren was like. And he hated him. "Insignificant? You would think that, wouldn't you?" Hanso's voice was grim, barely hiding his anger. "Easy to think so, when your minions did your dirty work for you. I can already tell what kind of freak you are now, I've seen it before."

It was high time that he took over. His arm-blades unsheathed and began glowing a light blue; his eyes glowed as illusions of himself separated and spread out. Yet in the mind, these weren't mere illusions; they embodied the sensors that Hanso sent out to locate Varren, where the bully's mind was focused. Except 'bully' was nowhere near strong enough to describe this Pokemon.

"You're gonna die, here and now."

The room shook, asn the walls cracked as shadows began to pour in like water.

"What is this? This isn't supposed to happen!" The thick black liquid began to cover everything. Hanso's path, which led up the right hand stairway, was being consumed.

"I suggest you hurry, you and I aren't done, and I highly doubt you want to get swallowed up by Auron's shadow."

Okay, that was creepy in itself, how the room shook right after his words. As the shadows began pouring in, Hanso was already dashing for the stairs. It was the immediate, impulsive reaction to a room being flooded, at least in his case.

The Gallade made a final leap over a spurt of shadows and found the stairway with his feet, body threatening to pinwheel back into the black liquid. Hanso found his balance and hurried up the stairs. "Personally, I believe it isn't Auron's shadow at all." Was he crazy for discussing something like that on the run? "Don't ya know anythin' about his current state of affairs? Oh, wait, you didn't know how they'd all gotten that way in the first place!"

"Think you're so smart, do ya? Auron may not have been the original source of this darkness, but he's the one who currently possesses it." As the ceiling collapsed, the room began to flood faster, the wicked ooze rising further and further. At the top of the stairs, there was another door. It slowly creaked open as Hanso mase his way up the stairs.

"Now get in here, smart-ass!"

"You sure it doesn't possess him?" Am I sure it does? "Whatever!" Hanso suddenly skidded to a halt just before the door. Could he be sure this wasn't an illusion of some sort to push him into a trap? No, I can sense it. The exact same as what corrupted Deluge.

As he ran forward through the door, Hanso didn't look back to check on the shadows' progress. It would cost more time, and he'd already wasted some just then.

Once again, darkness surrounded Hanso. A tile floor could be seen underfoot, illuminated but a circle of light hitting the ground. More beams of light descended, Illuminating a path forward, progressively. At the end of the line, there was Varren, waiting for him. For once, he was not smiling. He looked quite discontent. In fact, it was a very unnerving appearance, since Varren almost always smiled.

"Our little game was cut short, how sad. You finally found me, but can you do what you need to? You can still walk back out that door, and you will return to the outside. You can go back out, and you can kill Sovereign. Or..."

"Or I can kill you," Hanso finished, his voice hard. He had stopped as darkness surrounded him again, then began walking forward slowly as he saw the Gengar. One of the Gallade's arm-blades began glowing a light-blue again, the other covered in the black shadow of a Night Slash.

Even as he approached Varren, Hanso could not help but think that the Gengar would put up a fight. He did not imagine why Varren would just let himself die.

"Yes," Varren said somberly. "You could kill me. But the effects are not the same as they are out there. To kill me is to remove something from Sovereign's mind. But in doing so, your interaction with me may leave you..." Varren smiled once again, but it was a sad smile, filled with regret and sorrow. "... scarred."

"You can't kill me, not really anyway. All you can do is take a part of Sovereign with you. I become a part of you, forever. Are you really capable of that, or will you become a killer in the name of stopping Auron... or do you yet have another agenda...?"

"This is your last chance, you can walk out that door and murder the one you promised to save, or you can slay me and forever be plagued by Sovereign's madness. Make your choice, 'hero'."

Varren's words stopped Hanso in his tracks, holding the Gengar's gaze as he considered. Varren wasn't concerned in the end, was he? If he were to believe him, then doing this would only change the freak's place of residence. Sovereign would not have to deal with Varren, but Hanso would. Thinking about it, Hanso wasn't even sure if he'd be dealing with just Varren, or with this whole madness Sovereign seemed to have.

In all reality, Hanso never had to take this on in the first place. It was only something he'd decided to do. Killing Sovereign would mean one less Sentinel in the way, wouldn't it? And one less monster in the world.

And yet... The Gallade moved forward again, hesitantly at first, then in long steps, until Varren was in striking range. "I've already said you would die." Hanso's voice was just as cold as it had been before, if not colder. "And, it would have been a waste to come all this way just to leave you here." He brought back his Psycho Cut and Night Slash in preparation. "Besides, as you pointed out, I made a promise."

"You came well armed, but this is my domain..." The door slammed shut, as all the lights similtaneously went black. "Kekekekekeke... I am the shadows themseves here, how can you stop what you can't find...?"

So Varren wouldn't go quietly after all. As all light left the area, Hanso reached out with his mental sensors again. The Gengar's presence wasn't focused in front of the Gallade anymore, he was-- Hanso spun and drove his Night Slash home, feeling it slide into Varren. "They call me TrueStriker for a reason."

Varren smiled, but for the first time he actually looked happy. "This place is hell. Maybe your mind will be less painful..." The gash across Varren's body drew no blood. Instead it exploded with a black cloud which ingulfed Hanso, invading his nose, mouth, eyes, and ears!

The Gallade felt as if he was choking, unable to discern anything beyond the dark cloud. As it passed into him, he could almost feel the burden of another mind. The cloud soon passed, leaving Hanso gasping slightly as he looked down at first. After a few moments, his breathing calmed as he looked up.

When the cloud finally cleared, everything was clearer. Despite the fact that everything was dark as night, everything was visible. It was a bedroom. One of exquisite taste. On one of the walls, a painting could be seen. Varren was in it, with several other ghost Pokemon, including a Mismagius, a couple Gastly and a Misdreavus. Varren looked happy in the picture, but not in the twisted way he usually did. On the table in front of the painting there were papers, regarding the murder of a Mismagius who's description matched the one in the picture, and the dissappearance of the three children. Under the papers was a torn open note adressed to a "Darren Vistral."

Your kids are safe. Do exactly what I tell you to, and no one else has to die
-Norre

After picking up the note and reading it, Hanso dropped it back on the table. What...wait, Varren wasn't so bad before? It wasn't clear at first, but...hey, now they were stuck with each other, probably until the day Hanso died. If he lived beyond the war with the Silver Tribe, then he and Varren would have time to talk. Or fight. Whichever the Gengar decided to do. Man, this'll take a while to get used to.

The black ooze from before began to leak through the door. Despite his new eyes, this darkness was still impossible to see through. There's an escape hatch behind the painting. Get us out of here before we wind up slaves ourselves!

Before Hanso could answer Varren, his mind-- or was it their mind now?-- echoed with a familiar voice. "What?..." Glancing at the black ooze, he agreed with the voice. "Ya think? Time to leave five minutes ago. Wait, isn't Vera with you, Brynn?" The Gallade hurried over to the painting, lifting it by its sides and lightly tossing it to one side.

As he left through the escape hatch, Hanso asked Varren, This means you know and hear everything I do, doesn't it? Great...you're gonna have to tell me if I'd brought anything else with me as part of the package.

Vera Fayos vs ????

Vera screamed and screamed, desperately trying to garner the attention of the lone Larvitar. Why do you persist? Soon, Sovereign will be bonded to my power. There is nothing you can do, and nothing you can say that will change that. Your friends are fighting a pointless battle. Even if they can defeat the dredges of Sovereign's mind, my darkness will still consume them.

"Sovereign!" Vera continued to scream until her voice was hoarse and raw. Slowly, it became harder to breath. Even though the air was not really there, it seemed to be getting so thick. Shadows consume all, child. You cannot stop me with words alone.

"Sovereign... you have to remember me. You have to wake up..." Vera's head hanged low as she fell to her knees. "You're my friend, Sovereign... Don't you remember...?"

A single tear fell from her face, and when it touched the seemingly solid floor, it created a massive ripple, like a drop of water on a perfectly still lake. "Don't let this happen to you, Sovereign. Vera's head pulled up, covered in tears as she screamed, "Don't become a monster!"

Suddenly, a light shone, ever so dimly in the distance, as Vera's tears continued to shake the foundations of this illusion. The Larvitar finally opened it's eyes, and gazed upon the mysterious light. "What...?" the Larvitar was not sure where he was, or what was happening, but the light gave him comfort.

NO! I will not allow this! You are mine!

The child stood up, looking around for the source of the voice. "I belong to no one!"

Please, you don't even have a name. Your mother abandoned you without giving you one. You are no one, you are mine...

"I AM SOVEREIGN!"

The Larvitar's body began to glow, as his shape transformed into the one of a Tyranitar. You will be mine! No light in the world can stop me, what makes you think you can!? The shadows began to engulf the light in the distance. I will snuff out every light you have until nothing is left but shadows! I will make you see so far into the abyss that no one will be able to save you!

"Sovereign doesn't need saving," Erratt said as he appeared to the left of Sovereign.

"He has the strength to fight on, even in the darkest shadow," Varren said, to the right.

"He has the will to be a dragon!"

"He won't become a monster at your call!"

Sovereign looked at the companions that had been in his mind all this time. "I was afraid of them for so long. But they are me, and I am them." The shapes of Varren and Erratt shifted, revealing the purple and black Tyranitars. "They are just a part of me, and I must accept them. I am a dragon, but I have neglected my duty. I have darkness inside me, but there is nothing for me to fear from it. If you think I will bow before you, you are very wrong." Sovereign turned and looked back. "Thank you, Vera," he said as she stood up and smiled at him.

This is far from over! The darkness filled his mind as everything became impossible to see.

"No!" A beam of light shot forth, from the direction of the shine. It cut through the darkness and hit Sovereign, empowering him. "This is my territory. I command you to leave this place, or else I will have to show you just what I'm capable of!"

I will have you! You are mine! I will not be denied my prize!

"You will never have me!" Sovereign yelled, as his body shone a bright, blinding light. When Vera opened her eyes to look, there was no more darkness. Everything was white, but it was somehow soft, and comfortable.

"Sovereign... I-"

A sharp pain. Vera's eyes opened to the city in ruins. Sovereign was in front of her, his hand wrist deep in her stomach. "Vera...?!" If I can't have you, then you will be made to suffer...

He pulled it out quickly, as she fell to the ground, holding the wound. Sovereign crouched down, as he began to cry, something he had never done his entire life. "Vera! No!"

Penance 'Defender' Malum

Penance watched the scene unfold from a rooftop at the scene occurring. Vera... Hanso... Brynn... and Soverign. Yes, something was happening there, something big. Penance cocked his head as he saw the psychics go inactive, no doubt having now entered the dragon's mind. He had to turn his gaze away to view the other parts of the battle. Death was in the air... death of many great souls for the greater good. He could feel a small smile forming on his beak and a light giggle escaped his bill. He chuckled a bit more and let the wind caress his skin. Oh yes, a good day to feel more than ever the need to live.

He opened his eyes slowly as that crazed smile formed back on his face, "Hehe... what do they have in store today?" He cooed to himself as he stared down at the scene unfolding. The dragon had stabbed Vera, but still wasn't responding. Penance actually thought he was going to eat her, but to his disappointment the lizard instead began to scream and holler. Within his crazed mind an opportunity popped up.

No healers... let Hanso take care of it. He knows how to heal and in fact can save her life... if he acts fast enough. Get a unit there though to get her to safety. That will work for our favor.

Penance smirked as he saw a unit of his troops heading to the female on the ground. They had a stretcher and were waiting for the right opportunity to get in and take away the female to a safe house that had been resecured. At this point the fighting was dying around them and it would be easy to keep her safe and out of harm's way. All the chips had to be protected now.

Penance smirked all the while as his mind whirled. Yes.. everything was working to plan... all neat and compact.

----------

As Snype clashed with the Kirlia in the blink of an eye the Kirlia was... a Sableye? This mirror image of Snype perfectly blocked his attack, a smirk forming on the copy's face, "What is the matter? Never fought yourself before Snype?" He cooed at the Sableye.

Meanwhile the Grumpig had turned into a Jolteon and chuckled when the lightning hit it. "Thank you for the energy boost." She cooed as she sent out a bolt of lightning right at Snype just as his copy disentangled his claws and leaped away.

"Nice forms you two have." The clone Sableye stated. "Good attacks... question. Can you two keep up with yourselves?"

Snype was legitimately surprised at what had just happened. Their opponents suddenly transformed into a mirror image of theirselves! What were these things... Ditto? Or was this some other trick. Whatever the case, it caught Snype off guard. When his claws got disentangled he was directly hit by Levena's lightning attack. And boy did it hurt!

"Gah!" He screamed, sneering at the other Sableye.

"Snype!" Levena shouted. She growled at the other Jolteon. What would the smarter move be here? Go against their clone or chase after the other? Levena figured it would be better for her to face the Sableye. At least her electric attacks would work. Then again, The going against the Jolteon would mean the two wouldn't be able to focus on Electric attacks. It would be safer for Snype if he couldn't keep up with her speed.

She didn't have time to think, so she went after the Jolteon.

Snype meanwhile got up and looked over to the clone of himself. "Keh... nice trick. Don't think that'll phase me!" Snype said, preparing Detect. This Sableye probably had the same moves as him, which means he'd do the same dirty tricks. Toxic would be the most dangerous one. Snype had to play it safe and see just how big of a copycat this guy was.

"SOMEONE HELP!!!"

Not a pleasant thing to hear the moment a Psychic 'wakes up' to the real world. Shaking his head to clear the lag of leaving Sovereign's mind, Hanso looked up and saw ruins and destruction, some places unrecognizable. The next thing he saw was Sovereign standing before Vera, who was on the ground with a serious wound. "How'd we escape all this?" Hanso wondered, hurriedly making his way over to the Blaziken. "Vera!"

"Good question." Brynn appeared in a moment at their side, her legs folded under herself. "Forget it at the moment." The Gallade propped Vera up with one arm and looked to his sister, who shook her head. "I don't have much to give right now. Aren't you exhausted, brother?"

"Not so exhausted that we can't help her!" Gently laying Vera back down, Hanso brought his hands together and formed an orb of energy between them. "And you're the one who knows all the healing specifics." As the Heal Pulse dissipated into Vera's body, the wound slowed its bleeding and gradually closed a little. Watching it stop part-way, Hanso growled quietly. "Not enough, of course."

Looking up, he saw a troop of Pokemon with a stretcher headed in their direction. Not Gold Tribe from what he could see, and Hanso hadn't the slightest clue whether the Alpha Alliance army was now cleaning up or still fighting. Or even still alive. "You'll stay with her, Brynn?"

Hanso's twin raised an eyebrow. "What, you starting to have feelings or something? Of course, I will. She's hurt, after all."

"I am not. I'm not gonna promise one Pokemon to save another and then just let the first die." Hanso held Brynn's gaze as he replied. He'd told the truth; Vera was an acquaintance at most.

Cape City

Zane proceeded down to the gates of the Stoneguard, along with Sword and Shield. When he reached there, along with the many different Alpha Alliance soldiers fighting to defend the 'battering ram' Pokemon squad, he also found the Swift and Dryad fighting there, as well as General Belas directing his forces. In waves, the Ancients poured upon them, desperate to not give ground to the Alpha Alliance, who were at the doors of their capital building. Zane believed, and probably everyone else thought so too, that if they would capture and hold the Stoneguard, Cape City's battle would be tilted in their favor.

Sword and Shield, who fought by Zane, decided he would help with the other Pokemon trying to break open the gates, and headed over to them. Meanwhile, Zane, Dryad, the Swift, and the bulk of the Alpha Alliance forces protected them as Ancients poured from all across the city onto their position. Multiple Ancients began entangling with Alpha Alliance forces, while a group of them aimed for the Gold Tribe's position. The Swift and Dryad were each surrounded by their own Ancients, while Zane was surrounded by his own group. A pair of Omastars, a Bastiodon, two Archeops, and a Kabuto. Zane looked around, checking to make sure there were no other surprises nearby that he could expect, before charging in. He rammed right into the Bastiodon, who also targeted him with a Headbutt. In terms of force, however, it was no match for Zane's Iron Head, which crashed right into the skull of the Ancient. There were the deep, resounding cracks of bones crunching, and the Bastiodon toppled over, its eyes going behind its head, and it twitched it's legs a few more times, before coming to a halt. The Omastars blasted at Zane with a dual set of Water Guns. Zane rolled to the side to maneuver around the high-powered water blast, and managed to avoid the first wave, but was struck by the attack on his shoulder by the second one. He held the shoulder with his arm in pain, but only for a moment, as he knew the Ancients wouldn't give him that moment to recover. The Omastars began to prepare for another set of water guns, while the Archeops began swooping in from above to try and strike the Bisharp from above. Zane knew that if he stayed at a distance from them, he would be torn apart. He needed to close the distance, but that would risk a higher chance of being hit by the water guns, a risk he would have to make. He ran forward, his legs carrying him as fast as they could. He simultaneously tried avoiding the claws of the Archeops, and the water guns at the same time, all while charging at the Omastar pair. Unfortunately, as the distance closed, it became harder to avoid the guns effectively, and Zane found himself taking a direct his from one of them to his chest. Pain flooded the region of impact, but it only deterred him for a moment. With adrenaline pumping through his system, he tried to ignore the pain and make his way to the Omastars, who looked surprisingly at him as he collided with them both, slashing apart one, while breaking the other with another Iron Head. At this moment, both Archeops swooped in again. Zane jumped up high enough to meet one, managing to avoid their Fly attacks and jumping onto the back of one. With all of his might, he struck its back with an Aerial Ace, the precision of the attack hitting its target right on its neck, snapping it, causing the beast to begin to plummet. Before it fully did, however, used the force behind his legs and jumped off, and towards the other flying Ancient. He moved his left hand back, and then reached forward through the air, cutting at the Ancient with an Aerial Ace, while it tried to avoid. However, Zane couldn't be denied, and the beast took the attack nearly directly, and fell towards the ground at high impact. If the attack didn't kill it, the impact certainly did. Zane fell towards the ground, impacting at the ground in a bit of a lighter way than his opponent, but still with enough force to damage himself a bit. He rolled over on impact, but got up quick enough to continue the fight.

As he prepared to get back into the fight, Zane suddenly felt a tremor, and looked at where he believed the point of origin was. There, he noticed as two object, he believed to be large Pokemon, collided right into one of the larger buildings in Cape City, and together between them managed to bring the entire building down around them, and also according to Zane's eyes, a few of the surrounding buildings. Zane had a feeling the impact was connected to the darkening skies, even though he didn't have the time to confirm in. He was suddenly plunged back into his own troubles as he saw the battering ram Pokemon go in for another strike at the gates, and then another, and another. They struck in unison with impact-centered attacks, like Tackle, Giga Impact, and Double-Edge, with Sword and Shield leading the way. General Belas directed as the group impacted into the slowly cracking door. After a few more heaves, the large gates of the Stoneguard burst open, followed by a victorious roar from Sword and Shield, and to which others followed suit. Without delay, Alpha Alliance soldiers, and the Gold Tribe around, began making their way into the capital building, taking down any Ancients that got in the way.

Just as Zane reached inside the tower, he suddenly felt another tremor, feeling a bit like an Earthquake. He was certain it came from the general area of the first attack, which mean that whatever was going on there, was only escalating, especially if it meant that it was powerful enough to reach all the way to the Stoneguard. Refocusing, Zane continued up through the Stoneguard, vanquishing all of the Ancient which gave them resistence. And every single one of them did. He felt himself becoming more exhausted with each strike he made, but in his mind he knew that they only needed a little more. A little more, and they could win this battle!

Belas roared his armies through the capital building, and with the same intensity and ferocity of their leader, the armies did their part, as did the Gold Tribe. After much more difficult battling towards the upper levels, Zane soon found himself clearing out what remained of the Stoneguard. The building, paid for with many lives, was taken. From a window at the top of the building, Zane peered at the city below, where pockets of battling were still going on. He panted heavily, but allowed himself this brief moment of recovery, and for a smile to begin forming on his face. After battling for most of the day, the city was falling under their control. Victory was in the Alpha Alliance's grasp.

Suddenly, a tremor of unimaginable proportions felt its way to their position, with many soldiers inside the tower needing to grab hold of something to prevent themselves from falling over. In the distance of the city, Zane witnessed with disbelief as an apparent clash of force and power began ripping a large portion of the city in two. Ruptures and cracks formed along the ground of Cape City, and expanded to form a large hole right in the middle of the battlefield. Buildings nearby collapsed, shattered, and fell through, and even those further away experienced the shock. After a while, the tremors stopped, a large cloud of dust and smoke forming around the area. When it cleared, Zane saw the extent of the damage, a large fissure right in the center, expanding across the terrain. It appeared as though harm came not only to the Pokemon who fought, but also to the city which inhabited the fighting. This was the result, perhaps a permanent part of it. This was Cape City's battlescar.

***

Not far beyond its borders, two Pokemon walked towards the chaos of Cape City. One of them, a Scizor, confidently strode towards it. Even the extent of the damage which had been caused didn't deter him. For he was one of the last of the Sentinels, and one of the more skilled ones. Drake, known as "Sentry".

"Quite a sight," He said aloud, mostly to himself, as his companion who accompanied him was not a very talkative Pokemon (though neither was Sentry). The other Pokemon was hidden in a cloak, covered its body from the eyes of the outside world. The battle for Cape City was coming to a close, but their plans were far from over.

Accatosh "Blitzkrieg" Corronis

Accatosh listened as battle sounded throughout the air. then he took off to the air to find what the situation was.

when he found a place to land he landed and surveyed the situation. there was a strange looking tyranitar and what looked like Paladin standing across from each other... something was wrong... the Paladin he knew didn't look like the Paladin he saw now.

he heard a shout from somewhere: "SOMEONE HELP!!!" he turned to look in the direction of the shout it was Hanso, with a Blaziken and a Gardevoir. Accatosh decided to avoid the fight between this weird Paladin and strange Tyranitar.

Accatosh flew over to Hanso and when he reached where they were he saw that the gardevoir was Hanso's sister... they had never been officially introduced. he saw a team of pokemon coming to help them, so Accatosh landed and approached slowly. taking the situation in slowly... he wondered if it was a good idea to offer his help... considering that the two psychics were staring at each other.

Accatosh finally made his decision, he turned his head down to watch the team of pokemon come in with the stretcher, "what happened?" he asked.

"You... I fought you in Albia..." Sovereign was surprised as the whole of the city finally came into focus. So much destruction. "Did I...?"

But it seemed there was no moment of reprieve for Sovereign, as a Salamence had come flying in. "What happened?" He had a brief flash of Ragnaros. He gave no response, too ashamed to speak about what he had just done. He remembered what he needed to do. But first, he had to make sure Vera would be alright.

Tears were no longer coming from his eyes, but the marks could be seen from where they had. For all that Sovereign was concerned about the hole in Vera's stomach, he was more concerned about the lashes over her whole body. "Warrior, what happened?" he asked Hanso, too distressed to remember what his real name was.

He looked over to see a group of Pokemon with a stretcher. "Who are you...?"

"Did I...?"

"Yes, from the looks of it, you had somethin' to do with all this," Hanso said to Sovereign offhandedly, as Accatosh flew in and asked what happened. Within moments, the Tyranitar asked the same question, followed by asking the stretcher-bearers who they were.

"We're here to take her to a safer place," one Pokemon, a Roselia, answered, "as per orders of Penance." With that answer, Hanso relaxed slightly, though he did look at Brynn again once he'd released a second Heal Pulse for Vera.

"I'll do what I can, brother. But I can't guarantee anything beyond Vera's health." The Gardevoir reached out and grabbed Hanso's hand for a few moments, minds giving each other a brief summary of their own parts in Sovereign's mind.

Standing and stepping back as the Pokemon began to lift the Blaziken onto the stretcher, with Brynn intent on following, Hanso found himself tired and beginning to chuckle. For no reason that he could think of at the moment. "What happened?" he repeated after a few seconds, turning to Sovereign and Accatosh. His face showed how tired he was, even if the Gallade was grinning a bit for no apparent reason. "Too much to say in one sentence."

His chuckles and grin faded in a moment. "Eh, Sovereign." Glancing at the Salamence, Hanso said, "We will need to catch up soon, but first I wanna make sure that you don't get yourself killed after our efforts. My...promise, may not be resolved just yet, what with all that's...happened. Gold Tribe versus Sentinels, and all that."

Genevieve and the Affiliates

How disappointing, that they wouldn't crush the Madman and his kin at this time. Maddening in a way, really, though Genevieve did not show it as she stood above the dead Dewott's body and examined it. They would die in the end, of course. Just not as soon as she would have liked.

A loud explosion from up above echoed through the lair, followed immediately by a flood of water that tore through the cave. The Sentinels reacted by fleeing, of course, though the Inferno was out of sight at the moment. Genevieve eyed the advancing water for a moment before turning to leave, yet she had perhaps less chance of surviving the flood than the others. It seemed that Genevieve was correct in foretelling her own death, after all.

As the water rushed on through the tunnels the Affiliates that had already cleared out earlier waited above in the houses that had direct connections to their home. The pokemon waited patiently as they heard the flood waters surging out… and then the sound of the roaring waves began to slowly die down until there was only silence. Slowly the trap doors were opened up and a few of the quieter Affiliates made their way down. All of the lights from the settlement were completely extinguished. Darkness was everywhere so they were careful in where they stepped.

They knew no one could have survived. Sure the Sentinels were all powerful, but at the same time they were still mortal. The waters would kill all that made contact with it so they would have to do some clean up duty. Wood, stone, and all sorts of items were scattered along the tunnels as the small group scouted here and there.

Pain was all that she could feel at the moment. Eyes closed, Genevieve tried to pinpoint where the pain came from. All over, it seemed. It hurt too much to move, to even open her eyes. Pain meant that she was still alive, though. But how? She seemed to recall something being between her and the waters at the time they'd caught up with her, something that may have softened the blow. Then conscious thought flickered off, wavering between waking and unconsciousness.

As the Affiliates continued to move along it was then one of them saw it, "HEY! Sentinel this way!" One of them called out. It was clear that this Gardevoir was knocked down and almost out for the count, they just had to make sure that she couldn't get up. Immediately they began to fire attack after attack. Shadow Balls, Razor Winds, and all other sorts of long ranged attacks to ensure she would be taken down for now.

The pain had lessened enough for Genevieve to push herself into a sitting position, legs half under her, when she heard a shout. Eyes opening, she shut them again for a moment and blinked, adjusting to the relative light. Not that there was much, but it was brighter than the darkness of unconsciousness.

Opening her eyes again, Genevieve saw several incoming attacks. Almost on instinct, the Gardevoir released a wave of Psychic energy to counter what she could, followed by another to counter some more. Some of the attacks still came through as Genevieve tried to block as many as she could with her own attacks.

There were cries here and there as some of the Affiliates were blown back by the Sentinel's own counters. They ended up flying back and hitting against the walls of the tunnels… but they still had numbers on their side. They were trained enough to keep on attacking and even though dust was starting to cover the area they kept on throwing attack after attack into the cloud. It was well known that gold tribe could survive even when you thought them dead. Well they would keep going. Sentinels were more resilient… so they would need more punishment.

The Shadow Balls, among other attacks, needed to stop. Right after her next wave of Psychic energy, Genevieve released a Thunderbolt that had been building up in her hand for the last few seconds, pointing the electricity across a small arc in the two seconds it lasted.

Her mind then dragged itself back into relatively conscious thought. She wouldn't be able to get herself out with brute force; that wasn't her way of fighting in the first place. As she released another wave of Psychic energy and tried to push herself up into a standing position under the barrage, Genevieve reached out with her mind and conveyed to the attacking Pokemon, "Clearly you don't mind becoming hypocrites for your cause."

The attacking pokemon slightly paused at her words, some flinching as they spoke right into their minds. "What does she mean hypocrites?" A Jolteon asked warily.

"Just keep attacking!" A Banette snapped. The others shrugged and resumed their barrage. The walls began to shudder a bit and that caused another paused. "Hm… must be from up top. Let's get this finished then. Don't kill her, just knock her out for now!" A Eevee declared.

Genevieve saw the flinches, heard the Jolteon. Yes, discord was what she needed. "Not quite so hypocritical, then," she mused, even as the Gardevoir pushed herself to one side, avoiding a few more attacks. The shudders were somewhat worrying, but that wasn't her immediate problem.

Throwing another Thunderbolt with one hand and a hurried Energy Ball with the other wasn't enough, nor were the repeated waves of Psychic energy that were weakening each time she sent one out. Genevieve's mind wouldn't come up with much more in trying to throw discord into the Pokemon's ranks; she was starting to fade out again.

Another Shadow Ball managed to be thrown through the air and hit against the ground creating a dust cloud. Even though the Sentinel was weakened her attacks were enough to cause some damage to the group and the more injured members had to back further away to avoid death.

"Is she down!?" The Eevee gasped out.

"I… think so." A Dusclops said warily.

"So who's going to check?" The Jolteon asked.

There was a murmur among them as approaching a Sentinel was NOT something that any of them wished to do.

As the dust cleared, Genevieve could be seen on her hands and legs, shaking with the effort to keep from falling. An undignified position, but that was hardly the thought on her mind. If it hadn't been for that flood, she would...have...

Genevieve's mind blacked out as she fell to the ground in a prone position.

Cape City

All across the battlefield, the Alpha Alliance forces had begun to push out the Ancients. There were pockets of squads who fought pockets of Ancients, and in each small battle, a slight victory was gained. These smaller victories turned into larger wins in that district. The districts falling into the Alpha Alliance meant a portion of the city was now under the Alpha Alliance control. As each portion of the shattered city became theirs, the final piece of the Stoneguard was taken as the Silver Tribe flag was burnt down by a passing Charizard, and replaced was a flag of the Alpha Alliance. All across the battlefield, the roars of Pokemon were heard, and Zane, heavily breathing in the top level of the Stoneguard, smiled in relief. They were on the verge of victory. Now they just needed to seal it.

Lyn battled below where resistance from the Ancients was strongest. But even there, they were already getting pushed back. As she brought down another Kabutops with her Crush Claw, she looked over to her right to find another enemy, only to see two in her surprise, and neither were Ancients. One who stood in front was a Scizor, one who she recognized immediately. The other was hidden behind a long cloak, but from what she could make out, the Pokemon stood at approximately the same height as her.

"A complete mess," She heard the Sentry the Sentinel say in front of her. She looked around anxiously, hoping any of her brothers might come to her aid. She knew she might not have had enough strength to fight two potential Sentinels on her own. However, it seemed that neither seemed particularly interested in her at the moment, as none of them gave her a glance. They merely looked out into the ruins of Cape City, including the large crack right in the middle, the result of an epic clash of Pokemon titans. "Destruction on such a large scale...I suppose that will do..." He said. Guardia silently stood before them, in a stance, waiting for them to make their move. Sentry turned to the cloaked Pokemon behind. "I'll sound the retreat then," He said to the cloaked Pokemon, who responded with a slight nod of the head. Sentry turned, and proceeded to do just that. The cloaked Pokemon looked a moment longer at the landscape, and Guardia was sure the Pokemon also gazed right at Guardia as well, though she wasn't sure. So little of the mystery Pokemon could be seen. After staring for a few more seconds, the Pokemon turned, and proceeded to leave. Guardia, however, had to be sure. She wanted to know who it was. She had to.

"Noctus?" She asked, to which the Pokemon stopped in his tracks. He held his back to Guardia for a few seconds, and Guardia gulped in suspense. Then, he turned around again, and stared at her. Suddenly, there was a bright flash of light that penetrated the area around them. She wasn't sure where it originated from, whether from them, or a nearby attack, or some other source. But whatever it was, it illuminated the face of the mystery Pokemon for just a second. Guardia squinted to get a closer look, and before he turned to leave, she managed to see the outlines of a Cacturne.

Then, as if they were never there, the Scizor and the Cacturne in the cloak vanished.

Guardia stared at their direction, looking at nothing in particular, but quietly she thought to herself. She knew what she saw. It was the face of the Cacturne she had long been friends with since her visit to the Thieves Forest. It was Noctus Gamble.

Her thoughts to herself were interrupted when she began hearing louder cheers across the battlefield. Everywhere, the Alpha Alliance celebrated as the Ancients began to retreat from the city at the call of the Sentinel Sentry. She silently began to walk across the city, determined to share her news with the rest of the Gold Tribe, and to ensure their safety. Another dark chapter of the war with the Silver Tribe had concluded. Yet from it, and even darker revelation began to materialize.

Penance 'Madman' Malum

Penance had been watching the affair silently. He saw everything... the Sentries, the battles, all was concluded now. He rubbed his chin and sent out a message, it was quick and to the point. He trusted the messenger to get the message out fast and get a response fast. For now though he headed down through the building he had been on top off, down to the tunnel that had been made and into the tunnels once more. The area was awash with water... and now was the time to rebuild. A reason to gather, but for now it was time for the write down.

Across the battlefield while the Alpha Alliance was celebrating the Affiliates were already moving onto the next part of the plan. They did not only have stores under the city, they had buildings that had served as coupes as well. Out from buildings came hammers, wood, stone, and all other sorts of building material. They went out, already working on giving support to tittering buildings. Any fires they were putting out, and those that had led the civilians were now leading them back in with the all clear signal given.

Some of the more nimble Affiliates were already on the rooftops, setting up the Alpha Alliance flags upon buildings. There were even banners being rolled out showing the colors of the Alpha Alliance. Other groups were moving along the dead, cataloging and jotting down information. It would all be needed for later tonight anyway.

Though Zane might get a shock when out of the blue right in front of him appeared a Kecleon with a blue mask covering his face and a bag. Without a word the Kecleon reached into the bag to pull out a letter and fell to a knee and held out the letter to the Bisharp.

It was simple:

Zane, gather the others and convene in the city hall.

Sincerely,
Penance

As Snype readied his Detect, the Jolteon morphed again into a perfect clone of Snype. Without any words the two Sableye clones keyed in on Levina and both shot out Toxics at her.

Sovereign
Sovereign grabbed the wrist of one of the Roserade. "Don't let her die," he said dryly. He then allowed them to take her. He gazed at the fissure. Had he really caused so much destruction? All for what, the will of Auron? Fire crackled, painting the still dark sky an ugly red.

"Yeah I suppose your right," Sovereign chuckled at Hanzo's remark. A lot had just happened in a very short time span. His mind was so clear for the first in a long time. "I'll try not to get myself killed just yet." Sovereign wondered just how much destruction this war would cause. More troubling was the darkness he felt during the battle. He had felt similar power on numerous occasions with the other Sentinels. A darkness so black that is almost consumed him. "You can talk to the Gold tribe with your mind, can't you? Hook me up to it. I have a message for them."

Cape City

As Zane watched, the Ancients had fully retreated from the city. Cape belonged solely to the Alpha Alliance now. It was a comforting site, to see the flags of the Silver Tribe being taken down, and them swiftly being replaced with those of the Alpha Alliance. One more city was taken, the most important one yet, as it placed them within striking distance of the capital of Valkaria: Gold City. By the mere thought of it in his head, Zane recalled the final battle that occurred there.

The Silver Tribe laid siege to Gold City for nearly two months. The combination of the surrounding villages and its geographical location added toward its overall strength. That, and Gold City was the birthplace and official home of the Gold Tribe. Even if it was a surprise attack, nearly half of the entire Gold Tribe was on hand at the city at the time of the attack, Zane included. Rey was there too. He had never seen their leader more determined, more focused. It seemed that he would have done anything to ensure the continuing existence of the Alpha Alliance. He was a charismatic, skilled leader, but even he couldn't prevent the inevitable. It started out going rather well. Each day, a regiment of Ancients would strike, and each day, they would be repelled by the Gold Tribe and Alpha Alliance forces. But by a few weeks time, the Sentinels arrived on the battlefield, and the mood altogether switched, as the Gold Tribe began to experience their first deaths among them. They came one at a time, then by pairs, and eventually, as the attacks became more fierce and brutal, dozens of the Gold Tribe fell by the day. In the final defense of the city, when only a handful of the thousand or so Gold Tribe members remained, Rey made the difficult decision to sound the retreat. He remained behind to give Zane, the remainder of the Gold Tribe, and any remaining Alpha Alliance forces a chance to escape. The last Zane saw of the Gold Tribe leader, he was surrounded by Auron and the Sentinels, fighting to his last breath.

The sudden appearance of a Kecleon before him startled him out of his reminiscing. He dropped to a knee and handed him a letter, which Zane took, eyeing the Kecleon suspiciously. Zane opened it, and read it. A call to gather from Penance. Though the battle had only just ended, he understood the importance of the situation they were in. So much had happened on the battlefield itself, and there was probably plenty more that everyone would want to get off their minds, including breaking the news to those who didn't know about the deaths of the Prince of Light and Hoodhide. Zane being already inside the Stoneguard, the city hall of Cape City, need only gather the rest here. He wondered for a moment if any psychic link still existed between that either Penance or TrueStriker established. He decided it was worth a try, trying to connect with the psychic link, and messaging everyone in the Gold Tribe.

Everyone, if you're getting this, let's meet in the Stoneguard, in the main chambers, if you're able. I know it's soon, but there's a lot we need to discuss.

There hadn't been anything she could do to save Hoodhide, and though she knew this, Daricka continued to curse herself in her mind. If only she'd attack The Inferno more fiercely, if only she'd been quick enough to snatch her brother back before her charged to his doom...! But within, she knew it wouldn't have mattered. For all appearances, The Inferno had been finished; and if Hoodhide hadn't stopped him in time, he would have died anyways, along with everyone else within the city.

Once she was clear of the rubble she had found herself beneath after fleeing from the explosion, Daricka slumped forward as she regained her breath. The flames that had cloaked her in the fight against the corrupted Typhlosion had already gone; the only remnants of them being the flames that flickered constantly atop her head, and the exhaustion that always came in a wave after they were used. The Life Flames had been a last ditch effort; the price for using them was something she would have rather avoided. Each time the flames faded, the thought would cross her mind no matter how much she tried not to wonder: how much longer did she have? How many more times could she afford to use them? It wasn't the thought of dying that scared her; it was more the thought of dying before the fight was finished.

Raising her tired but still fierce gaze, she took in the landscape before her. A large circle of nothingness marked the place where The Inferno had blown the surroundings away, and it in turn was surrounded by nothing but ruined and crumbling buildings, few of which were still standing. Whichever way this battle went, the toll it would take on Cape City's citizens would still be the same.

The sound of crumbling earth and the shaking of the ground finally drew her attention away from her recovery. With nothing to grab hold of to keep her balance, and her legs already unsteady, she fell to her knees, her hands on the ground so she wouldn't fall face-down on the ground. When the tremor stopped and she was able to rise again, she raised her eyes, and a rare expression of surprise flashing across her features at the sight before her; a large fissure now parted the city in two, a scar that would forever remain to remind others of the bloody battle that had been fought on these grounds.

She wasn't sure how long she rested there, but this seemed to be her cue to shake off the weariness that still clung to her limbs and continue fighting. Though, as she looked around, the Ancients seemed to have dwindled in numbers. The flag of the Alpha Alliance flew from Stoneguard, signaling that it had been taken from the Ancients. The Ancients that remained on the battlefield were now retreating. There wasn't really any point to hurry towards them now, since by the time she got there any fights would have already ended. Thus, she strode at a leisurely pace across the war torn city toward Stoneguard, resolving not to strain herself by rushing herself. Even if there were any Ancients still around to fight, she wouldn't be much good if she was to exhausted to move anyways.

By the time Vigil's message echoed in her mind, she was already entering the broken and battered gates of Stoneguard. She made her way to the top floor, where she found Vigil. She greeted him with a silent nod as she leaned back against a wall, her arms crossed in front of her.

These shape shifters were clever. They could apparently transform on will! The two quickly use two Toxics on Levena. Snype would be the heroic one and save Levina... if he actually had the heart for that sort of thing. Still... the two seemed to have a thing going on. Either way though, it was no reason to jump out of the way. She'd get better. Snype had to focus on beating these two! The didn't have a chance to do anything the entire battle!

For all he knew, it was probably all over... The Gold Tribe had an advantage for sure. Somehow, they might have just found their way to victory. But Snype wasn't going to give up just yet.

"Levina!" Snype shouted as she was hit by the double Toxic. She was quickly starting to suffer from poison... a very harsh one at that. She struggled a bit but still kept fighting. She used Quick Attack on whatever fake Sableye she could hit. Using Thunderbolt would be too risky.

Snype meanwhile ran toward his own target and used Shadow Sneak on it.

Hanso watched as they took Vera away on the stretcher, with Brynn being supported on her legs by one of the Affiliates, then turned back as Sovereign asked, "You can talk to the Gold tribe with your mind, can't you? Hook me up to it. I have a message for them."

Raising an eyebrow, Hanso's eyes bore into the Tyranitar. For a moment, his eyes seemed more vibrant than normal, the red iris of his left eye an almost unnatural shade of red. "Yeah, hang on a second," the Gallade answered, the moment passing as if nothing had happened. Reaching out with his mind, it took a few long seconds for Hanso to connect with the minds of the Gold Tribe, re-establishing his telepathic network. He did in time for Zane's message to come through to them all: Everyone, if you're getting this, let's meet in the Stoneguard, in the main chambers, if you're able. I know it's soon, but there's a lot we need to discuss.

"There you are," Hanso stated as he added Sovereign to the network. "Message away."

Oh, this'll be fun. What more can I do since I'm stuck inside the head of a Psychic...

Shut up, Varren. You're not talkin' in my network.

Sovereign
Sovereign could hear Hanso's voice in his head. It was a unique sensation. He had always maintained a wall against such links, but now was not the time for that. Sovereign closed his eyes and focused.

"This is Sovereign. Most of you know me as the Sentinel, Crusher. Some of you may have fought me, or lost people by my hand. Right now that's not important. You stand against Auron. I fought Auron once. He was the strongest opponent I have ever faced. But strength is not all he has. Auron is a man with resolve. He will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. Even at the cost of his soul.

The odds are stacked against you. You will need as much resolve as Auron in order to beat him. But never drop yourselves to his level. Do not become monsters in order to achieve victory. Stand by your honor. And never stop fighting!"

Sovereign opened his eyes again, and looked at Hanso. "I hope it's enough." He began walking towards the very split in the wall he had created to get into the city. "I am no longer your enemy. But I can't join you. I made an oath to Auron, and my word as a dragon is something I cannot break. But... I made another oath... long before then. I have to return to my home." He looked back over his shoulder and grinned. "I doubt he'll let me though... take care of Vera when I'm gone."

Jirmonji "The Swift" Slynt
Jirmonji was still trying to process all that had gone down. With Vigil and Sword and Shield at the front, he and Dryad had led the Alpha Alliance's soldiers. They had fought with all of their strength, and eventually forced their way through the gate. The next thing he knew, through all the fighting, something exploded, and from what everyone had told him, it was The Inferno, and to Slynt's dismay, Hoodhide. The little Scrafty had given the ultimate sacrifice to save everyone: His life. It caused a stir in his heart. When the time comes...Will I be able to? Would I be the one to sacrifice myself? The Swift wasn't a coward by any means, but death...Death had a hold over him. There was no part of him that wasn't afraid of death. Will I be afraid? Will I just crumble? There was so much self-doubt coursing through his mind...

A voice appeared in his mind. It was Hanso. Everyone, if you're getting this, let's meet in the Stoneguard, in the main chambers, if you're able. I know it's soon, but there's a lot we need to discuss

A second voice appeared seconds later. Jirmonji recognized it instantly. This is Sovereign. Most of you know me as the Sentinel, Crusher. Some of you may have fought me, or lost people by my hand. Right now that's not important. You stand against Auron. I fought Auron once. He was the strongest opponent I have ever faced. But strength is not all he has. Auron is a man with resolve. But never drop yourselves to his level. Do not become monsters in order to achieve victory. Stand by your honor. And never stop fighting!

The Swift could do nothing but smile. True words, from an unlikely source. It seemed as if the beast had a soul. Jirmonji had fought the brute at the previous city. Strong. Powerful. And if what he said was true...Maybe...just maybe...He could be an ally. Jirmonji kept replaying that last message in his head over and over as he walked to the main chamber. A lot had truly happened. We can't keep losing men to take out the Sentinels...We need to do it without sacrificing one to take him out. A vague image of Calamity appeared in his head, and next to Calamity stood Hoodhide. The Swift had hardly known the two, seeing as he hadn't been with the troop for very long, but he knew they were true warriors, and fearless fighters, like any member of the Gold Tribe should be. As he arrived at the meeting point, he arrived a conclusion as well. I will not blink in the face of death. I will face it with dignity. Like any member of the Gold Tribe should. I will fight until my death. He looked to the ground. I will give my life to destroy Auron.

Words... words echoed in Paladin's mind. The words bounced off the sides of his brain and resonated throughout it, and yet, he heard nothing from outside his own mind. A telepathic message. He couldn't make out what it was saying, but he caught some words. Meet...stoneguard...discuss... The rest was a fuzzy blur, as was his vision, his hearing, and pretty much all his senses. Even the pain was minimal because he seemed to be in some kind of limbo state. Still, in this state, he could feel memories surfacing. What that dark side of him really was.

The memories surfaced in fragments, but he could remember being in a torturehouse, not unlike the one where he had lost his good friend Zed. However, this was different. He lay strapped to the ground somehow, and over him loomed the form of a dragon... Auron. Sentry, his loyal pet, stood there too, and a third figure whom he could not make out.

"Do it," Auron commanded, and the third figure walked to the other side of the stinky, scream-filled room for a moment and came back with what appeared to be a small, shiny object in his palm.

"No..." Paladin muttered, sensing something very wrong with the object.

"Oh yes," The third figure said with a large grin, as she approached, clearly a woman by the sound of her voice. But wait... he knew that voice.

"NO!"

Frost just giggled as she brought the thing nearer to him. He could feel his senses slipping away as it drew closer, until finally...

"PALADIN!"

A soothingly familiar voice broke his trance, and Paladin awoke in a cold sweat, as if he'd just had a nightmare. Over him, there stood no Auron or Frost, but a white Ninetails. "Allora..." Paladin muttered softly, relieved at the sight of her. Despite some burns and scratches, she was alright. The Ninetails was holding up a pouch full of Oran Berries with her Psychic, and began feeding them to the Golurk...somehow.

"My Arceus..." Allora muttered as she examined Paladin's form, after feeding him the berries. "You need serious medical attention. Now."

Paladin could barely feel his body below his small head, but he shook his head. "No. Sovereign. I have to find Sovereign, and finish him off," Paladin decided, despite the fact that he could not move.

"Forget it. What you need is rest and more berries," Allora replied sternly.

Suddenly, a sharp pain in the dark side of his body. "RRRARGH!" Paladin screamed all of a sudden, in agony but unable to do anything about it. Allora snapped to attention. She knew that they had to get out of here, and that there would be nobody to help Paladin out here. The two were at the edge of the city, when Paladin had apparently tried to fly away but crash landed; she'd seen him. There was only one option to help her friend.

Paladin felt himself rise into the air all of a sudden, floating just above ground. To his side, despite the pain blurring his vision once more, he could see his faithful friend Allora using her Psychic to lift him into the air. "Come on..." she grunted, devoting all her focus to keeping the heavy Golurk aloft.

She began walking, keeping the floating Golurk ahead of her, in the direction of the Stoneguard.

In Paladin's mind, he could hear another message. It was Sovereign! That bastard was preaching about fighting on, as if he was a member of the Gold Tribe. "What does he know?" Paladin thought. "He's an Arceus-damn Sentinel! Nothing he ever says will make up for the deeds he has done! I hate him!" Paladin could feel his thoughts growing darker and darker, as he repeated the words in his head.

"I hate him! I hate him! I hate him! I hate him!"

A last thought entered his mind before he finally blacked out, but it was not his own.

"...And we will kill him."

Cape City- Stoneguard

It wasn't long after Zane sent the message that the first of the Gold Tribe began coming towards the Stoneguard. But before they came, TrueStriker connected a surprise person to the Psychic link. It was Sovereign, one of the Sentinels who joined the Silver Tribe after the war began. Emotions of anger had began to stir in Zane, as he recalled Sovereign's part in Dark Lightning's death, but he held them in check, and he figured TrueStriker wouldn't connect them together if it wasn't important, or if he didn't feel it necessary.

It was an interesting message, something he had not expected out of the Tyranitar. When the message concluded, the Gold Tribe began walking through, starting first with Wildfire, who gave Zane a silent nod, which he returned to her. While they waited in silence, Zane thought on what Sovereign had said. It was actually not far off from what Zane had been thinking of this entire time. It was just strange that it came from such an unusual source.

But never drop yourselves to his level. Do not become monsters in order to achieve victory. Stand by your honor. And never stop fighting!

If there were ever nobler words from a fiend, he couldn't think of any. And yet, the message resonated in Zane quite fiercely. It was true that in the past few battles and events, they had done things that made even Zane question the character of the Gold Tribe. Lying to Penance, leaving some of his brothers to fight Inferno without assisting so that he could go after what he thought was a more important target, perhaps even leaving Liberty Town without any protection to rescue some of their own brothers and sisters, and General Hazone. It seemed in the desperation of being on the verge of extinction, they had turned to acts which were defined as 'victory at any cost'. Leave Liberty Town unguarded to rescue members of the Gold Tribe and General Hazone from the torturehouse, to have a better chance against the Ancients in battle. Lie to Penance in his moments of instability to ensure his ability to help in the next battle, without taking his feelings into consideration. Abandoning the Prince of Light and Hoodhide to their deaths by the Inferno in order to capture and free the Sentinel Scar. It was the ruthless calculus of war, and Zane knew it couldn't continue like this. This wasn't the way of the Gold Tribe. Even on the verge of extinction, they had to act as the embodiment of all that was noble. Even in the face of certain death. Even if, as it turned out, their tribe was the product of a long-held secret to ensure the captivity of a Dark God.

As Zane continued to think on this, the other began to arrive. The Swift arrived, followed by Dryad and Sword and Shield. Speculum the Ditto came in just after them, followed by Bane, and the Healer. Bloodthirster flew in through the open window. Zane saw as the Ninetales known as the Shadow Protector carrying in Paladin by Psychic energy. He appeared to be injured, and Zane immediately reacted. "Is he alright?" He asked her. Allora didn't respond, perhaps because she didn't immediately know how to. The Healer quickly went over to his side and began to examine him, while Zane worriedly watched from the side. He remembered about the meeting, and went back over to the large circular table in the middle of the room, but made frequent glances towards the condition of his friend, Paladin, whom he had re-met in Cape City. He didn't want to lose another brother. Not after they had come so far, especially perhaps not now.

"I think it best if we began the meeting," A voice said, which Zane turned to recognize as the old Alakazam known as the Keeper. "There is much to discuss. And I had not left my home in the Catacombs for nothing." Zane looked over again as Paladin, monitoring his condition. "All will be done for him as best as it can be, young Gold Tribe." He reassured him. The Healer mirrored the sentiments with a nod to the Bisharp. Feeling slightly more reassured, he returned back to the table, seeing Gallant and Blitzkrieg also arrive.

"Well," Zane began, unsure where to begin. "I suppose we should get news out of the way. In case you hadn't heard, the Sentinels Inferno and Deluge are dead. The Sentinel Scar has also been successfully turned from the Silver Crystal's power, we believe. I'm not sure of his current condition, but we believe he is still alive." A few of the Gold Tribe members smiled at this news, but Zane would only see those face go to frowns as he passed on the rest of the news. "Unfortunately, it didn't come without sacrifice. The Prince of Light and Hoodhide are both dead as well."

For a while, none spoke. Zane held his eyes to the floor, feeling partially to blame for their deaths. If he had just chosen to stay with his brothers and sisters and fight against the Inferno, maybe they would have survived. After a long pause, he decided to continue the meeting, though Guardia beat him to the punch.

"Noctus," She said in barely above a whisper. The second time, she said it louder. "I saw Noctus. He came to the city close to the end of the battle with Sentry. He was with him."

Penance 'Madman' Malum

"Of course he is Zangoose. He always was..." Penance was currently high above them, sitting on a piece of the wall that was jutting out. "You just never saw it because you wanted to trust him... wanted to believe the good in him. That was your downfall Zangoose." The Golduck closed his eyes and hummed to himself, "Scar is fine... he is being tended to. Not that you all would care after all... seeing as how this mess was all caused by the Gold Tribe."

He gave a meager shrug, "You can try denying it all you want... but such authority has been predicted many times before. You just shut your ears and didn't care... that is until now. Now those predictions have proven true and yet you still wish to raise the gold... pitiful." He shook his head, tsking as well. "Same as raising silver... for another generation mind you." He cocked his head, narrowing his eyes down at the Goldies. "Riddle me this... what will happen a hundred years from now? When you goldies decide its for the best interest of all that they should not know about the silver crystal? What happens when the silver crystal has to be checked yet again? Send off a team of goldies who become corrupted yet again and decide to kill off everyone? It's happened before... remember Zane?"

He smiled widely, "I see that look in your eyes sometimes... how you speak of dreams... how you see the past. I wonder if those goldies even bothered to think about how we would be this day and age? You think they thought that the silver crystal would be used once more? I highly doubt so, because you are trained not to think. Just follow the good old generals, right?"

He chuckled. "Oh, but enough of that... for now. You all wouldn't care anyways." He waved his hand dismissively. "But I know what you do care about... how about that battle eh? Adrenaline rushing am I right!?" He grinned brightly. "So many dead... just for that rush of combat eh?" He chuckled a bit more, "Funny isn't it? Trained for combat but wanting to keep the peace and thus trying to stop war... yet you revel in it. Hypocritical isn't it?" He looked down and shrugged once more, "Just a casual observation of course. But anyways, more information rests in Scar's mind... as well as in Genevieve's. Yes... I have her. You don't want to know what's happening to her though..." He finished in a sing song voice.

"But no worries, you're precious information to cause more war to stop war will soon be in your hands."
