Gaming MediaWant to showcase yourself playing a game? Want to write a guide on how to beat the hardest levels of a game? Or maybe you want to give your review of a game you have? If so, this is the place for you!
In OC's DCC, we were going over Gen. III games and I was giving my opinion of them. During that time, I thought of the first PMD games, and thought, "Hey, why not do an LP of the GBA version?" So, here you have it~ And hopefully I'm doing this right; I've never done such a thing before...
~Sometimes I might try to be funny, sometimes not. Sometimes my humor may be humorous to be, but not to you.
~If I use sarcasm, the emphasized words go in italics. Because italicizing them is so much cooler than bolding them. Unless the sarcasm is obvious.
~Each box can only have three lines of text in the game, and since some lines come after a pause, both the line before the pause and that line with the text after the pause will be posted together, got it?
~Ignore the black lines on the side of the screenshots; the VBA hates me >.>
POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: RED RESCUE TEAM
Chapter 1: That Pokemon You Just Caught Might've Been Human...
Cyndaquil <33333 I would've had it as a partner, but honestly, it's not the best choice.
Nice post office. Why can't American ones be this interesting?
Treasure Town > Pokemon Square. Just saying.
Typical intro. screen. Dunno how many times I had to go through this.
I've always loved how the background changes.
So the text is part of the portal?
Raise your hand if you did not answer them sincerely. *raises hand*
What. I suck at interviews. I thought I just had to circle the answer.
I picked "Go with others". If I were to answer this honestly, I'd pick the first choice instead.
If I were to answer honestly, I'd say "At the last second."
I would probably do this, just for the heck of it :>
Picked "I want to go home soon!" Would probably pick "This feels great!" if I were being honest.
Picked "The beach!" even though I just said I wanted to go home from being at the beach. Honest answer would be "Anywhere."
"Yes." So true, too.
"Uh... N-no..." would be my honest answer.
Picked "Yes", and this is true, too.
BOY! If you were interviewing me, wouldn't you be able to tell...? By the way, I didn't cheat on this. You see, I had to wait for my birthday to get this game, but I bought the guide ahead of time. So I looked at all the answers that would give me points towards being a naïve personality and the questions that went with them. I did not use Serebii or Bulbapedia or any place that has all the questions and answers.
Took me at least five tries to get this >.>
So very true.
Carefree? Maybe. Cheerful? Not so much.
Also very true.
True, though I can't do this in school. And on the weekends at my dad's I'm in the same place for pretty much the whole day.
Selfishness, I can't really say I have, being an only child. Watching myself is a different story.
How much longer will this go on?
ANOTHER EEVEE :D
I have to choose from a GROUP? Oh come on.
Oh well, Mudkips are so adorable <3 Not to mention it'll help back me up.
Whatever I want it to be.
I named him Yoh because in Shaman King, Yoh Asakura is a pretty relaxed kid. When I think of Mudkips, I think of Ruby's Zuzu, which has a Relaxed nature. Hence the name.
So I wasn't already in the world of Pokemon? Where would you place Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Orre, then?
I don't know. Where are you?
And yet you don't notice that the breeze is rippling through your fur.
"Luke... I am your father..."
Attack of the ellipses!
HEEEEEEEELP. THEY'RE EVERYWHERE.
EEEEEEEE... Oh wait, the text killed the ellipses. YAAAAAAAY.
I'm blind. I AM awake, darnit.
In my character's eyes: IT'S A GIANT MUDKIP!!!
Once again, got me.
Oh, I've been pretending to sleep this entire time.
Well, Eevees are rare.
Of course I am! Just look at my fur, and my foxlike ears and tail...
Why is it that you have to be told by a Pokemon when you can realize it by feeling the wind ripple through the fur you're not supposed to have or when you come face to face with a "giant" Pokemon? /Nintendo logic
No duh, Sherlock.
But you can't learn Amnesia!
Who said I wasn't?
Oh sure, ask the amnesiac that.
Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
Lucia = my online nickname. And no genders (even if you did have to choose between male or female) makes it even easier for me to name my team members whatever I want.
...said the Mudkip named "Yoh".
IT'S A GHOST D:
Whoa where'd you come from. /can't screenshot every movement
It's just a Caterpie. It's not like you can't make more of them.
WHY ARE YOU SO UPSET OVER SUCH AN UNIMPORTANT THING?
Groudon did it.
Maybe he can get help from a Pidgey. Oh wait. Never mind.
They kind of do that...
You didn't know that they did that either? WHAT HAS THIS WORLD COME TO?
Sure, blame their actions on something else and don't stop to think that only they can control their own actions.
Hey, Pidgeys need to eat too...
Just let him become Pidgey food.
This really came out of nowhere. And it's amazing how a third-stage Pokemon is so afraid yet two first-stage Pokemon are willing to take it on (I'd be more understanding if there were Rock types and Pokemon that knew Rock type moves). Actually, it's not like you even get to choose whether you want to help or not. I sort of question whether you really are the leader of your team.
Regarding the Mystery Dungeons, I'll only take screenshots of Pokemon I have to fight, Pokemon I have a chance to recruit, the nickname pop-up for any Pokemon I do recruit, tutorial stuff, changes made in the movesets or options, etc. I won't do level ups, though I really have no reason why I won't do them.
Thank god the tutorials don't last forever.
It's not called money. It's called cash. Cash is the currency, money is the stuff you buy with cash. GET IT RIGHT ALREADY.
By the way, how do woods have three basement floors?
Set Tackle as my L+A attack for obvious reasons. Gonna link that with Tail Whip eventually.
Growl is a pain in the Arceus, so I took that out.
Shaded maps are easier to see than Clear ones, in my opinion.
Just matching the color of the window with the border.
Yeah, not much really happened other than me changing some things in the movesets and options, as well as a simple battle against the original pigeon.
Still gonna question how woods have basement floors.
You know, if this were the real world, they'd be attacking you during this tutorial whether you like it or not.
Sunkern aren't too special.
Even less happened here. Moving on...
Jumping Mudkip Attack!
If "Oran" is supposed to come from "Orange", then why is it blue?
Oh no, one damage! I'm gonna die!
Can I just get out of here already?
A lot more happened here, including level ups for both members of the team. Yoh also learned Mud-Slap (I keep forgetting if there is a dash or not).
Are you trying to gain sympathy from me? It's not working.
Still not working.
Now give us all your cash!
Nonono, it's supposed to be "HUH?"
By "mom" we mean our boss, Pidgeot.
...Quick recovery was quick. And since these guys aren't even an official rescue team yet, if I were Caterpie I'd be wondering who the heck these guys were and what they want with me. I'd still be pretty upset, but I'd still have some common sense.
Give me all your cash and we have a deal.
It is NOT OK. I want me some cash!
If they were a few seconds later, a Pidgey would've got him.
I can introduce myself, thank you very much.
The ellipses. They're BAAAAAAACK.
The eyes. THE EYESSSSSSSSSS. And the ellipses. IT'S TOO MUCH.
No I will not go out with him.
More creepy than embarrassing.
Well, that's kind of the point...
There's a reason this game is called "Red RESCUE Team".
Not so useful.
Still not so useful.
Thanks for the -mostly- worthless berries, bye now.
I didn't want to, though...
Humans > Pokemon, after all.
Go back to sleep and forget this all happened, of course.
STOP WITH THE ELLIPSES ALREADY ;;
STOP IT ;;
I feel kind of bad that you get a nice place while your partner's probably off in their Friend Area, where they may or may not be alone. At least in PMD2 you and your partner are always together.
...OK, excitement fading.
How amazingly pathetic it is!
The home my parents bought is a lot nicer than this!
It makes my parents' house look like a mansion!
Humans are still greater than Pokemon.
Dance Wag your tail like nobody's watching.
Wait until I tell my friends back home!
I'd still say this even if I were another Pokemon!
You did your best to make it look so terrible; of course I'm impressed!
Now I can laugh myself to sleep!
I love how pathetic it is!
Next they'll be telling us water is wet and fire is hot.
I blame global climate change.
Both the poor and the rich.
Then go do community service.
It's called community service; weren't you listening?
You're lucky I'm still confused else I'd be deeply perturbed.
Even if you say "Refuse", you'll still have to join anyways. Otherwise, what would be the point of this game?
Wait, I thought I was the leader!
So you're gonna be lazy and make me come up with something?
Yup, thought so.
Over Soul = The first Shaman King opening, and it's also what the shamans say when powering up or w/e.
Of course it does! Both it and your name reference Shaman King!
Or maybe a week. Or a month. Or a year... Depends on how much free time I have.
You still haven't explained what a Rescue Team is...
Just like in a lot of the Final Fantasy games, the title comes up after finding out what your destiny is.
*cue suspenseful music*
No pillow? Geez, that looks uncomfortable.
Though I think I shed a few hairs.
Nah, I'm a Pikachu now.
That personality test was there for some reason.
...I give up. You win, ellipses.
Why are there so many ellipses in this game?
My point has been proven.
It's proven furthermore.
You went to sleep during the day, didn't you? And it looks like it's day again. Geez, what I'd give to get the amount of sleep you got.
Speaking of bed, guess where I have to go now? /3 in the morning here
Chapter 2: ELLIPSES AND STALKERS AND CAPS-LOCK, OH MY! Here!
I'm big lover of PMD games so I'm glad someone made LP of PMD =D
But I kinda thing this is kinda weird... I mean there's not enough of your commentary and too much in-game screenies...
I understand that LP of PMD might be harder then LPs of normal games...
So good luck and hope my advise will be useful =)
You really need less screenies and more commentary. Usually it's one comment per screenie, but if the screenies are relevant to the comment you can do that because I understand that LPs for PMD work different from other LPs.
Anyway, good luck on your LP and I hope you do well! C:
I don't think PMD would be the best for a screenie LP looking at it. The main series of the Pokemon games are about stopping and it's all slow giving you enough time to take screenies, but this is an action RPG. It's like doing an LP for a Zelda game. But, you found a decent way around it, I'll continue watching...
~OK, so commentary was a big thing I needed to improve on. I edited the first chapter, adding commentary with pretty much every screenshot. It took me a while, so it's most likely I won't be doing any more editing.
~Without further ado, I bring you chapter 2!
POKEMON MYSTERY DUNGEON: RED RESCUE TEAM
Chapter 2: ELLIPSES AND STALKERS AND CAPS-LOCK, OH MY!
Ellipses already? OH COME ON.
Just how much sleep did you get? /jealous
Yup, there's a reason for that.
The ellipses will rule us all!
There's a new Pokemon named Yoh? I have to see this.
Yes, you really should go out. Get a life like the one I don't have.
I was drooling in my sleep!
...For some reason there seems to be innuendo here, but maybe that's just me.
