Hiya, some of you may have seen some scripts by me around here and stuff, but yeah. Today I present to you an engine in the making. It is an edit of a slightly older version of essentials with some bug fixes ported from the newer ones, for convenience. What the Gold Engine is, is a GSC Clone for you nostalgia seekers and developers. Along with the gold engine will be a completed copy of Pokémon Crystal, tweaked to my partner's and my own liking. This engine will include all features from the gameboy color games and has been stripped of anything from Generation III onwards, save PP Max and X SP.DEF...

All GSC UIs
Ported Options menu from my own fangame (it's more useful than GSC's, may even add printing if possible)
All related features from Essentials.
No Gen 3+ Moves, movesets, egg moves, or items/machines
All tiles and graphics from Pokémon Gold, with some from Crystal.

Think it's ambitious? Shiny Pichu and I have been working on this for over a year over different variations, we have hundreds of graphical resources and coding snippets that will aid in the start of our last and most complete release.

If you would like to contribute, we need Kanto Tilesets and all Gym tilesets save Violet City and Blackthorn City. We are also bringing back areas that were present in RBY but not GSC due to lack of space whilst programming (Safari Zone, Cerulean Cave, Viridian Forest, etc.), so we will be accepting revamped tiles in the GSC palette.
(On a side note we also need an animation for Celebi's shrine when Celebi itself appears, if anyone is willing to do so :3)
Sweet! What changes to the battle engine are being made?
Well for one, Essentials is using DS battle mechanics. We have to change that to Generation II. Also, lots of sprite repositioning and text edits have to made. To top it off, all movesets and moves need to be reverted to their second generation state. I've already replaced TM/HMs but there is still much work to do. I've begun Egg Moves in the pokemon.txt but not much besides that. Shiny Pichu is doing most of the scripting work while I do eventing and mapping.
