It's okay, I'm not trying to rush anyone haha. It's just that this whole page is basically sign ups and assignments, and like one update. XD Makes me wonder if people forgot about it or something. But yeah, good luck to you all that just signed up! :) I hope you'll enjoy this challenge. We're in the final months of this still being a gen V challenge, guys!

Ehh.... I should've noticed this earlier, but I just checked and I noticed that I actually won't be able to get Blissey or Armaldo until after the Elite 4... And I don't have a way to hack or trade them in... so.. do I just do it without them, beat the Elite 4 another time with them, or do I have to resign the challenge?

If you can trade through wi-fi, you can try the Trade Corner here at PC. If you absolutely can't trade, I'm pretty sure you can choose another pokémon from your Normal and Bug lists to replace them (anyone, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that).

Haven't worked on a challenge in a while, but I really felt like giving this one another go, since I really enjoyed it. ^-^ Gonna try to finish before the new thread comes out, but no guarantees.

@waveguidebuizel You can have Grass, Ice, Dark, Steel, Water, and Bug

Oh gosh I never updated that I beat the game with my Pokemon White Favorites Challenge :c

Unfortunately, I have a new phone to which the pictures of my championship are not on so I don't have a way of proving my victory. However, I can tell you my team consisted of Accelgor, Crawdaunt, Magnezone, Exeggutor, Donphan, and Honchkrow and let me tell you that this game was very hard to defeat thanks to my teams poor speed (outside of Accelgor who was frail too). I did manage to pull it out though and it was a fun challenge that I might start on White 2 with a revamped favorite list (excluding some XY Pokemon).

Can't wait for the XY challenge!

Here's my sign-up for the White 2 challenge:

Thanks, WeightyWillBill! ^-^ That gives me Treecko, Cloyster, Murkrow, Lucario, Dewott, and Ariados. Pretty heavy Electric weakness. Heheh, sounds like another fun team!

As for your team, try Ground, Dragon, Fighting, Poison, Electric, and Normal.

Very interesting team using Pokemon I can mostly obtain in-game!

Ah, sorry for the delay! Try Fire, Flying, Water, Rock, Psychic, and Dark. Enjoy! ^-^

Aaaaaaaand, it's update time! First update brings us to three badges. Details in the spoiler:
Spoiler:
  • Tried to put the game in Challenge Mode, but I learned a bit late that erasing the file also erases the keys. Should've transferred them first. >_< Oh well, I changed the battle style to Set.
  • Started with Oshawott and did all the normal beginning stuff.
  • Oh yeah, I also hacked in the four pokémon unavailable in this game. All are at level 2 and were temporarily boxed. The plan is to take them out one at a time, after winning a badge.
  • Caught Riolu at Floccesy Ranch and took on the rival in a pretty good battle.
  • Found the Herdier at the ranch, training up Riolu in the process.
  • Returned to Aspertia and challenged Cheren in a gym battle. Riolu was able to take care of Patrat and do some damage to Lillipup. Oshawott finished up, thanks to the help of an oran berry. And so, we won the first badge of the journey - the Basic Badge! ^-^

  • With one badge earned, I get a prize - the first of the boxed pokémon. So I took Treecko out (ehehe, not the best choice for the next gym, but I'm taking them out in order).
  • Made it to Virbank and went to explore the Virbank Complex. Got our first blackout to a pair of wild magnemite, haha! The team wasn't in the best of conditions. All to get that tiny mushroom too...
  • Did a bit of training at the complex and Oshawott evolved into Dewott! Once everyone was at level 17, we went to challenge Virbank Gym.
  • Roxie was a bit tough. Riolu managed to take out Koffing somehow. I think I might have had Treecko use Leer and/or Riolu use Work Up. Anyways, Riolu was able to paralyze Whirlipede with Force Palm before he went down. I sent out Treecko, who was able to Leer it twice before fainting. With the paralysis, lowered defense, and the help of a held pecha berry, Dewott was able to knock out Whirlipede with little trouble, winning us badge #2 - the Toxic Badge! ^-^

  • And with the second badge comes another pokémon from the box - Shellder!
  • Also, we did the PokéStar Studios stuff.
  • We returned to Virbank and took care of the Team Plasma goons.
  • Then our inner star shone forth back at the studios again. Gathered quite a few lemonades, moomoo milks, and other stuff. Also, Treecko became a strange movie star for the "Brycen-Man" movie while Riolu got the strange star from "Mystery Doors of the Magical Land 1."
  • Okay, okay, we'll move on. A short boat ride later, we disembarked at Castelia. After exploring the city and what we could of Route 4, we went down into the sewers and kicked out Team Plasma with Hugh. Also checked out the Relic Passage, where Riolu evolved into Lucario!
  • At the Castelia Gym, we challenged Burgh. Treecko Leered his swadloon and then switched out for Shellder. After taking a Razor Leaf, he was able to defeat Swadloon in one round with a five-hit Icicle Spear. I think that was the first time he got five hits from it! Anyways, Burgh sent out his ace, Leavanny, next. I switched out for Lucario and used Work Up. This was followed by a pretty long round of Return and Razor Leaf, with both of us using a healing item. Leavanny finally went down, giving out a huge chunk of experience. And Dwebble came out last. Force Palm did a good amount of damage, but I returned for Dewott to give him some experience. A Water Gun ended the battle with us earning the Insect Badge! ^-^

Man, I've really been feeling like playing this quite a bit lately! So... update #2 brings me a bit past the fifth gym. The tl;dr details to follow:
Spoiler:
  • With three badges, I get to bring in my fifth pokémon, Murkrow! Again, not great for the next gym. Oh, and the only female! For some reason, I always happen to get a team of five males and one female... >_<
  • We officially meet Colress and battle him at Route 4 after he disperses the wall of crustle. I don't really remember this battle.
  • Explored the rest of Route 4 and checked out the Desert Resort before taking over Join Avenue.
  • Reached Nimbasa and did the double battle against the Subway Bosses with Rosa. "I am Emmet." Took in the city and did some training at the sports stadiums.
  • Also cleared out Routes 5 and 16, as well as the Lostlorn Forest.
  • Nimbasa Gym time! Elesa... oh man, Elesa. Toughest gym yet! Emolga's Volt Switch immediately knocked out Murkrow (whoops, my bad). I brought out Treecko against her Flaaffy; here begins a long battle of paralysis and stuff. Eventually, she Volt Switched out (undoing my Screech... ¬_¬) for Zebstrika. I healed Treecko as it took a Quick Attack. Then a Flame Charge finished him off. What a waste of healing! I think I realized here that half my team is weak to electric, while the other half is weak to fire. Not good! I brought Lucario out, who is hax with Scope Lens. A critical Force Palm (powered with Work Up, I think) did great damage, but unfortunately not enough. She healed Zebstrika, of course. I believe I got another critical Force Palm, but with paralysis added to the mix. That helped Lucario hog all the experience from Zebstrika. Hey, that's one pokémon of hers down! :D
Flaaffy was next, and Lucario managed to make Elesa use her last healing item with a paralyzing Force Palm! But... I was stupid and didn't heal Lucario, so he fainted. D: I brought out Dewott, who was immediately knocked out. That leaves me with only Shellder left. Not a good situation! I had to use a Revive, but on who? After a few seconds of deliberation, I decided to revive Treecko. He may not have been great so far, but he really surprised me in this gym. So with that turn used on the Revive, Shellder was knocked out. I think at this point, Emolga is in battle, thanks to Volt Switch. With a few Rock Tombs and some luck, Treecko is able to knock out Emolga, leaving her with just a damaged Flaaffy. Overgrow was crucial here, as it powered up Mega Drain, as well as the healing. In the end, we finally won with like 3 HP left! Wow, what a nerve-wracking battle; that Bolt Badge was well-earned. ^-^

  • We run into some Plasma grunts near the Route 5 exit and dispose of them.
  • On Route 5, we beat the heartbreaker, Charles in a rotation battle.
  • Crossing the Driftveil Drawbridge lands us in Driftveil proper, so we explore the city and get a bunch of items and stuff. I'm about to challenge Charles once again, when I suddenly remembered...
  • The last member of our party! I forgot to take Spinarak out of the box after winning the last badge, so I do that now. This time, we take on Charles in a triple battle, gaining Spinarak a bunch of levels.
  • While exploring Route 6, Spinarak evolved into Ariados! Just one more evolution before the party of favorites is officially complete.
  • I also went ahead and got as far as I could in Chargestone Cave before returning to challenge Rood and the Driftveil Gym.
  • The Driftveil Gym, ehhh... Clay was kind of a weird battle; it didn't go as badly as Elesa's, but it was still a toughie. I think I started with either Murkrow or Shellder against his Krokorok. Either way, I'm pretty sure Shellder beat Krokorok with a five-hit Icicle Spear and an Ice Shard. Sandslash was next, and this part's pretty hazy. I know there was a point where I switched someone out for Dewott, who took a defense-lowering Crush Claw for that. Then, surprise! Sandslash is faster and knocks out Dewott with Bulldoze before I got to do anything. Haha, I was so sad! D: I brought out Lucario to do some damage to Sandslash, then immediately switched to Murkrow, expecting a Bulldoze. Ah, the feeling of predicting it right! :D Crush Claw still did a number on Murkrow, so I switched back to Lucario to finish off Sandslash. Hmm... I feel like Shellder also fainted somewhere in there, and there was probably some healing on Clay's part. And finally, Excadrill. Lucario managed to paralyze it with Force Palm, and I think it was immediately a full paralysis. I switched out to Ariados, expecting a ground attack or something. Then I remembered, Bulldoze would do extra damage if I used Dig, so I just switched out for Murkrow. Did some damage with Night Shade, and I think she evaded a Rock Slide. I switched again for Lucario, who doubly resists Rock Slide, and get a good hit in with Force Palm. Lucario falls to Bulldoze, but Murkrow returns to finish off Excadrill for the Quake Badge! ^-^

  • Hugh and I followed Clay south to the PWT.
  • Before taking part in it, I decide to explore the other side of Relic Passage. Dig is really handy here! We stumbled upon the ruins of the Relic Castle and encounter Volcarona. It surprised me a bit by how amazingly powerful it was! Gust took out Shellder, who has at around half health, before I could get in a Supersonic. Then I do what sounds like a stupid move and bring in Treecko against it! Leech Life did like 40% damage, but Treecko retaliated with Rock Tomb! Maybe not such a stupid move after all! ...It's still in the green. At least the reduced speed allows Treecko to get in another Rock Tomb. But, a blast of Fire Spin and Treecko is defeated (even with Eviolite). It actually looks like Volcarona might've been able to survive another Rock Tomb too! :O Anyways, Dewott comes in, reaps the benefits of the Rock Tombs, and finishes it off with Razor Shell.
  • I enter the PWT with Ariados, Lucario, and Dewott. It was really easy. Maybe I should've entered with some of the others for added challenge. Oh well.
  • Outside, what is Team Plasma up to? This update ends as we face the Plasma Frigate. Until next time!

And Update #3 features three gym battles with three different endings. That gives us eight badges! (I'm updating way too much too quickly...)
Spoiler:
  • Let's see, where did I leave off? Ah, the Plasma Frigate. No problem there.
  • At Route 6, Cheren gives us Surf, so I teach that to Dewott and off we go to surf the world! All the way back at Route 19, Surf makes accessible a free Water Stone. So Cloyster time! And the party is officially complete. ^-^
  • Back from our surfing exploration, we traverse the depths of Chargestone Cave, eventually reaching Mistralton City. Here, we finally meet Professor Aurea Juniper, who goes off to do stuff at the Celestial Tower.
  • I also check out the tower and ring the bell. Twice. For no reason.
  • We return to challenge Skyla at the Mistralton Gym. This battle really didn't go as expected! Ariados was able to knock out her Swoobat by himself, thanks to Sucker Punch, I believe. So proud!
Swanna came out next, and I switched to Lucario to take the hit. Unfortunately, arguably my strongest pokémon didn't last too long in this fight. At least that allowed Murkrow to switch in unharmed. To my surprise, Murkrow outsped Swanna; I deduced that Swanna's Speed is 89 (Murkrow's was 90 and Lucario's was 88 at the time; heheh, useless information). Anyways, Murkrow eventually lowered its Special Attack to the minimum using multiple Snarl attacks (and using up Skyla's Hyper Potions). But... just as that happened, Swanna got a critical with Air Slash, knocking out Murkrow. I decide to bring in Treecko here, and learn that Murkrow's effort wasn't in vain, as Air Slash did about 20 damage. Rock Tomb made sure I was able to outspeed it, but FeatherDance and Roost were really annoying. I think we eventually defeated Swanna with Energy Balls (even lowering its Special Defense once).
Skarmory was her last; I always see these as one of a treecko's worst enemies. Still, we got in a Rock Tomb to lower its speed in preparation. I switched out to Dewott, and a single Surf gave us the win and the Jet Badge. ^-^

  • We fly off to Lentimas Town in Skyla's plane. Before going into Reversal Mountain, I explore the Strange House first.
  • With Bianca's help, we make it through Reversal Mountain and reach Undella Town. I learned my lesson from times past and finish exploring Undella Bay and Route 14 before heading north to the gate.
  • As we exit the town, Hugh ambushes us! Yeah, I'm prepared this time! We battle, starting off with Treecko vs. Unfezant. We're able to hit it with a Rock Tomb, but a critical Air Slash knocks out Treecko in one strike. I bring out Murkrow, who brings it down with Snarl and Aerial Ace. His serperior replaces it and immediately Coils, weakening my Aerial Ace. Or, it would've if it wasn't a critical hit! Another OHKO! Simisear is his last, and Snarl works as both a nice attack and flame retardant as it also falls to Murkrow's wrath.
  • We pass through Route 13 and reach Lacunosa Town. Also, Ariados pretty much single-handedly took down Cobalion.
  • Double battle against Zinzolin and a Plasma Grunt! Let's see... it was Treecko and Serperior vs. Cryogonal and Golbat. Not good! Surprisingly, Golbat was the slowest here, haha! Anyways, Coil + Leaf Blade felled Cryogonal and its replacement, Sneasel. We ganged up on Golbat, and they're left with just a garbodor left. A critical Slam from Serpy almost defeats it, but I was stupid and chose Screech instead of an attack. >_< So because of that, Treecko fainted from Sludge Bomb or something, and Cloyster takes all my share of the experience as Serpy finishes it next turn.
  • We pass through Route 12, Village Bridge, and Route 11 to reach Opelucid. Before taking on the gym, we clear out Route 9 and its mall.
  • The gym battle with Drayden went well enough, with a very satisfying ending. Treecko started off the battle with a Screech against Druddigon. Dragon Claw put us in the yellow, so I switched off to Lucario to take the next hit. Force Palm took advantage of Screech and Druddigon fainted with little trouble.
He brought out Flygon next. Somehow, Lucario was able to paralyze it with Force Palm before Earth Power took him out (he's incredible with that hax at crucial times). I don't remember the details of what happened next, but Flygon also took out Murkrow and Treecko, thanks to Hyper Potion(s). Dewott finished the job with Surf.
And finally, Haxorus. I smiled when Haxorus started off with a Dragon Dance, as Dewott locked him in with Encore. Immediately, I switched out for Cloyster; a five-hit, single critical Icicle Spear was enough to win the battle and the Legend Badge! ^-^

  • All of a sudden, ice! Team Plasma invades Opelucid, and we do stuff. Zinzolin was easy; OHKOs all around with Lucario's Force Palm. That one Shadow's Absol, though... not relying on Lucario meant a painful Swords Dance!
  • Next, we pass through the newly-opened Marine Tube from Undella to Humilau. I also explore the Seaside Cave and surrounding routes before going into the gym.
  • Inside the gym, we face off against Marlon. Ariados vs. Carracosta didn't look great, so I switched off to Lucario, expecting a rock attack. But nope, Shell Smash... Lucario was still faster though, and two Force Palms were enough.
Wailord capitalized on the damage Lucario sustained and knocked him out (no paralysis from Force Palm this time D with Scald, I think. I brought Dewott out, but Revenge misses because that giant whale bounced up into the air. Dewott hits it with Revenge on its way down, and follows up with Encore, forcing Bounce. I switched out to Cloyster to take the Bounce with its amazing Defense. Then a battle of endurance ensues. Hyper Potion didn't even recover all of Wailord's HP! :O Cloyster eventually prevails, though, leaving him with just Jellicent left.
Supersonic missed, and Jellicent knocks out Cloyster. I bring Treecko out to replace him. Right off the bat, Giga Drain knocks it down to the low yellow, with a critical hit! I think this activated its Sitrus Berry, though. Ominous Wind did some decent damage against us. Giga Drain replenished some of that lost HP, as he also healed with Recover. Unfortunately, Cursed Body activated, disabling Giga Drain. With this battle looking desparate, we Screeched it, having to rely on Rock Tomb. After a few turns of Recovers, Ominous Winds, and Scalds, Giga Drain was finally enabled again! With Overgrow now in play, Treecko healed enough to take another attack from Jellicent and retaliate with a final Giga Drain. And with that, the eighth badge, the Wave Badge! ^-^

CDChaser, you can take Water, Dark, Rock, Electric, Normal, and Bug. Good luck!

Time for a big announcement! I've decided that the new XY Favorite Challenge will be posted on December 27, to coincide with the release of Pokemon Bank. All Pokemon will be available with the release of Bank, so that's the perfect day to get the new challenge up and running. I hope to see you all signing up for the new version of the challenge. Hurry up and finish this one while it's still here, because it will be closed with the opening of the new one. Good luck!

Alright, that gives me:

Wailord
Umbreon
Golem
Luxray
Braviary
Genesect

Genesect is allowed as long as I keep its original typing Bug/Steel right?

Alright, Progress Update, Number 1!

I hacked in all but eevee, I will un box one every time I beat a gym, but will start with shinx
Spoiler:

I first trained up Shinx a bit on route 19 then headed to Floccesy town.
Shinx, level 6
I met up with Alder then headed to route 20 to train a bit more then over to Floccesy Ranch.
Shinx, level 8
I entered the ranch and battled Hugh, bit of a struggle but came out in a victory and Shinx level up.
Shinx, level 9
I trained Shinx up against the trainers in the farm the headed over to the team plasma grunt who ended up giving me TM21 Frustration and running away.
Shinx, level 11
I go back to floccesy town, heal up then head to Alders to get some extra training so I can take on the first gym.
Shinx, level 12
After the battle Shinx leveled up and I headed out to go to aspertia city after the medal guy gave a medal case. After I was given it I head over to aspertia town to gain my first badge. On the way alder surprised me again and gave me some oran berries. These would come in handy!
Shinx, level 14
I got through the Battle with 1 hp left for Shinx after Cherens lillipup landed a critical hit, taking him from full health, down to one. Great! Now I've got the basic badge, and a new team member! I go to the pc, and pick out Rufflet. Not a bad choice, with the second gym being poison.

Well then, after a huge delay, I've returned with an update. Last time, we left off right after getting our eighth badge. Update #4 brings us right outside the gate of the Pokémon League. Let's see if I can remember what happened.
Spoiler:
  • Like Ariados did twice before, Treecko defeated a musketeer (Terrakion) by himself. Pride!
  • Colress directs us to the location of the Plasma Frigate, so we go. I don't remember it being too difficult, thanks to the healing bed in one of the rooms.
  • Alongside Hugh, we take on Zinzolin and his grunt. Serperior managed to OHKO Liepard, but Cryogonal did the same to Treecko. Dewott came out to replace him and started with Swords Dance as Serperior continued his Leaf Blade onslaught. I think after two Swords Dances, Dewott started Aqua Jetting everything, and then the battle ended.
  • The Shadow Triad kicked us out, and we trailed the frigate to Chasm Cave. After dealing with a few grunts, we re-boarded the ship and fought our way to Zinzolin yet again. This time, I believe I had Lucario out in the front, so OHKOs to his entire party.
  • Colress was quite a difficult battle! I don't quite remember what happened, but I believe his Magneton started off with Volt Switch. I'm pretty sure Lucario and Ariados were vital in this battle. But in the end, the team was in pretty bad condition.
  • The Shadow Triad wasn't too difficult, especially after coming out of the battle with Colress. With them defeated, we tracked Ghetsis down in the depths of the crater. Black Kyurem was a beast! It felled three or four of the party, though there were some crits involved.
  • Ghetsis was even tougher than Colress. It was a complicated battle, and my memory's not so great. I remember Eelektross and Toxicroak causing huge problems, though. Everyone had a role, but in the end, only Dewott survived, so quite a narrow victory that was.

  • Anyways, with Ghetsis in shambles, we can finally make our way to Victory Road! I'd forgotten how much I love the Route 23 music. ^-^ It was a tough route, but we managed to make it to the Badge Check Gates, where N gives us the HM for Waterfall. To my dismay, Cloyster couldn't learn it, so I opted to teach it to Dewott while transferring Surf to Cloyster. I also found out that this team can learn all the HMs + Flash, with one of these moves per pokémon! Thanks for that selection, WeightyWillBill! :D
  • With a lot of help from the doctor in Victory Road, we managed to explore the entire place and make it through to the top of the cliff. I've gotta say, Treecko was especially helpful against the infestation of Boldore plaguing the caves, thanks to Giga Drain! Much like Shaymin in my last run of this challenge.
  • At the end, Hugh challenged us to a final battle. His Unfezant used Swagger on Lucario after powering up with Work Up, but he never hit himself! With this increased power, Lucario went on to sweep his team with Close Combat. Thanks, Hugh! :D
  • Now that we've made it to the League, I decided to play around with Move Tutor moves, since I had the shards (though I had to go searching for one more Yellow Shard). Also, we did a bit of training and Rare Candy-chomping. I found that the breeder on Route 22 (I think his name was Addison) is extremely useful for grinding. Next time, watch out, Elite Four!

The team so far (ready? for the League!):

Thanks!
Looks like I've got:

Pretty cool and powerful team I have here. The only bummer is that I'm using Houndoom and Feraligatr on another run right now.

I finished this run a while ago, but I don't know why I waited so long to update. I forget everything that way. >_< Anyways, final update, featuring the Elite Four and Champion Iris here:
Spoiler:
  • Grimsley was the first I took on. Let's see... I remember Liepard beating Treecko thanks to a well-timed crit. Murkrow and Lucario performed amazingly in this battle.
  • Next up was Caitlin. Musharna yawned a lot, but I used Murkrow's Insomnia to my advantage while Treecko absorbed its Charge Beams. I think Treecko fell to Sigilyph and Lucario to Reuniclus, but other than that, she wasn't too bad.
  • Marshal was third. I believe I lost Ariados and Murkrow to Stone Edges sometime this battle. But Dewott was able to finish off Conkeldurr with some support.
  • And finally, the dreaded Shauntal. I was shocked I did as well as I did against her. I think Drifblim took out Treecko with Acrobatics and Chandelure took out Cloyster (I forgot it had Energy Ball), but Dewott finished up again.
  • And the Champion, Iris! This was a fun battle, but it felt short. Anyways, it started off with Treecko vs. Hydreigon. Treecko survived a Flamethrower and got off a Rock Tomb to lower its Speed. I switched out for Lucario, who took a Dragon Pulse and retaliated with Close Combat, finishing it off. Close Combat also worked wonders against Lapras and Aggron, but it wasn't quite enough to take out Haxorus. I think Lucario was knocked out with Earthquake. I sent out Murkrow next to set up Tailwind while Haxorus Dragon Danced. Smiling evilly, I clicked on Foul Play, knocking out Haxorus. Druddigon was next, so I immediately switched out for Cloyster, who took the incoming Rock Slide. After some Icicle Spears, a Full Restore on Druddigon, and a dodged Focus Blast, Cloyster fainted to a successful Focus Blast. I think I had Murkrow come in to finish off Druddigon. Her last (I didn't notice it was her last until after this battle, haha) was Archeops. Murkrow got off a Tailwind before she was buried with Rock Slide. But with Tailwind, Treecko was able to outspeed Archeops and Thunder Punch it, activating Defeatist. But even with the reduced Attack, Acrobatics knocked out Treecko. Dewott came in and ended the battle with Aqua Jet. And with that, we've become the new champions. Poor Ariados didn't get to even participate! D:
  • My play time was 43:50.

Ehh, this update isn't as detailed as I'd like, but whatever. I'm glad I got to do this challenge twice before it ended! It's gotta be my favorite challenge. ^-^ There's about a week left in this thread, but I hope this isn't the last update. All you people still doing this, enjoy!

The final team:

That time has come, birds! This challenge had the best run of the three Favorite Challenges I've run, so I can only hope the new XY one will live up to this one here. The new thread can be found here. Thank you all for making this challenge so successful! See you in Kalos!
