The Gijinka Project

Story

The world seems to be getting darker these days. Tensions are rising between the nations of the world; old grudges aired once more as tired, angry people look for enemies to take their frustration out on. Other humans aren't all there are to contend with either, the wilds are growing more dangerous, and restless. Wild pokemon are becoming more aggressive, more deadly as they probe at human settlements and among those who know it, whispers spread of legends; of powerful, ancient pokemon waking from their long slumbers and raising armies of their kin against the humans that have taken their land.

Unable to come together against the danger, the nations of the world scramble to find some solution, some way to survive. Some focus on building up their strength while others turn to research and discovery in the hopes of finding a game-changer; some miracle that would increase their strength and give them a way to stand against their enemies. With all eyes on the nations and their efforts, there are few to notice and even fewer to care when a few of the more unfortunate souls in the world go missing.

The Gijinka Project is Kanto's attempt to weather the storm to come; an attempt to combine human and pokemon, to pick and choose the best qualities of each to create a new type of soldier. Such an ambitious undertaking requires sacrifices though, it requires test subjects; and if a few people disappearing quietly into the night is the price for their survival, then the Kantoese government's eyes are firmly fixed the other way.

However, at a time when entire nations are moving in unison, one man can still make a difference. All it takes is a single moment of regret, for one man to press one button, and the world can be changed.
You

You are a Generation Zero Gijinka; one of the project's proof of concept prototypes. Changing the human body in such a dramatic way is a tricky process and while you were one of many taken against their will by agents of the project, you are also one of very few to actually survive the process.

You were being held against your will with several other Generation Zero subjects in suspended animation, locked deep in a building in some unknown part of the Kanto region; soon to be shown to government officials as proof that the project had succeeded. Something happened though, that the project didn't expect.

On the eve of the government inspection someone gained access to the computer systems of the lab, disrupting security and causing havoc across the expansive facility. Under the cover of explosions and rampaging pokemon, this individual succeeds in their main task and sets you free.
Dazed you stumble from the tube holding you and as your senses and mind try to make sense of themselves, you hear a voice coming from a speaker in the room.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't get to you. Things have gone wrong. The people who did this to you are still here, they'll realise what I've done soon."

"They'll be coming for you, you need to run."

Rules

- Respect all PC and RPC rules.
- This RPG is rated M for Violence and potential coarse language.
- Romance is permitted if you wish but absolutely nothing sexually explicit; if you absolutely must then fade to black.
- No godmodding, power playing or bunnying.
- Improvise! My story is just a guideline; adapting the story to fit your characters is my job, not the other way around.
- Be active please; inactivity is grounds for removal from the game, especially if you're holding the group up or if the slots are all full and others are interested.
- Try to get along; the whole point of these things is to have fun and no one is having fun if we're arguing. No bullying or insulting other players.
- Be realistic when fighting; nobody is a perfect fighter and the npcs don't become magically incompetent when fighting you.
- Have fun! The storyline might be a bit dark, but that doesn't mean the players have to be gloomy as well.

Gijinka Guidelines

Spoiler:
Gijinka tend to be mostly humanoid and larger than the average human, rarely standing below 6 foot tall and having a upper height limit of around 8 and a half feet for the larger breeds. Gijinka can either be pokemon twisted into a humanoid shape (Pokemon anthros) or humans with pokemon features; either way the pokemon aspects of your character MUST NOT be represented by clothing or the like. Extra limbs such as tails, wings or other such are acceptable. At the start of the rp your character is dressed in a pale green hospital gown; you'll get a chance to scavenge clothes later on.

Features - Skills and more

Spoiler:
Each Gijinka is unique, even ones made of the same species. Each Gjinka has a number of "features" to them that denote ways they particularly vary from a particularly large human. Increased strength and agility compared to a theoretical human of their size is NOT a Feature; all Gijinka have this. You should try to have a balance of positive and negative features; you're a product of early, experimental techniques that often created as many weaknesses as strengths.

Examples of Positive features: Having functional exotic limbs (Such as wings or more unusual pokemon body parts, pretty much anything except a tail, which doesn't require a feature slot..), being able to use one of the abilities of your pokemon (Such as breathing fire, channelling energy attacks, etc.), enhanced senses, being particularly strong for a Gijinka etc.

Examples of Negative features: Non functional extra limbs (Such as wings), residual pain from the experiments, difficulty controlling powers, exploitable weaknesses etc.

Feel free to talk to me over VMs or Skype about your characters features. If there's something you really want your character to be able to do we can figure something out; the features system is to stop people being ridiculously overpowered, not to stop people having fun!

This looks -really- cool, I have to say. I'm very tempted to write an SU right away, but I wanted to ask you something first. At the 'Features', you write that one feature could be being able to 'use one of the abilities of the Pokémon', in which you said, for example being able to breathe fire.

If a person chose a Pokémon that has the ability to both breathe fire or, say, expel it from themselves, or create fire from other sources from some kind of pokémon move, would you be forced to say "They can use the ability 'Flamethrower'" or the like? Or can you go "They have the ability to use the chosen Pokémon's element in their fighting"? I'm really just looking for a limit to what one 'positive feature' regarding fighting could be.

I worded the breathing fire badly; your ability to use/summon the element would match the pokemon you are mixed with, so you could use their natural moves and manipulate the element how they can.

Ah, perfect! I think I'll be getting to work on an SU, then :3 Just one quick one, would we know that we've been experimented on and taken away, or is all of the experimentation and changing of our bodies a big, blank spot in our memory and the last we remember is being taken away?

P.S. I have an idea for a character concept, but I wanted to run it by you first, could you PM me your Skype and I could add you?

It would vary depending on how badly the experiments affected your character mentally (In other words, up to you). Most likely you would have flashes of memory and have no clue what they were actually doing to you though.

And you already have me on skype :p But yeah, we can talk about your character idea at some point when we're both online

Whoo, first to post an SU :3 Here you go, Mansk! Anything needs changing, lemme know o>
William Lester - Unknown

Name: William Lester

Age: 24

Pokemon Species: Haunter

Personality:
Due to having lived on the street throughout a lot of his teen and all of his adult years, William tends to be very streetsmart. He knows where to go if he needs new clothes, what food or items to steal without the owner becoming suspicious or even wanting to report the crime, and he of course, can recognize a great hiding spot if he sees one.
He tends to keep positive despite or maybe even due to the circumstances of his upbringing, since there wasn’t a lot else to do. If he’d gotten frustrated or angry about his situation, he would probably have had suicidal thoughts, and William knew this. So, instead, he made the most of his life, and instead of seeing himself as a vagrant or a hobo, he saw himself as free from the norms and most of the laws that other people had to follow.

Times were sometimes slim when he couldn’t steal anything or collect enough bottles or items to get enough food for himself, so he was forced to either wait it out until an opportunity came along, or go scavenging the trash cans of the city, which he did at times. This has taught him to never waste anything it can be helped, and that everything can be useful, one way or another.

Aside from this, William is a happy-go-lucky guy, who doesn’t blame his homeless or parent-less situation on anyone, though he does still harbour the hope that his real parents are out there somewhere, and that he one day, could get the courage to go find them or at the very least, create a new family in their stead.

Appearance:
After William’s gradual transformation, anyone who knew him beforehand might have quite a rough time trying to piece together that this is actually him. His skin has turned into a semi-dark shade of people, though not to the point where he looks black. His hair (Which has been coloured a near-blackish purple) has grown rather spiky, the top-most of his hair pointing slightly backwards and the hair near his neck and a little further up jutting downwards. His build is lean, not overly skinny, but definitely not overweight either.

Due to now partially being a Haunter, his arms from his shoulders and down to his wrists have apparently gone see-through, with his hands still being perfectly materialized, as well as having gained slightly more claw-like nails. He’s able to make his arms materialize completely if he concentrates, but most of the time, he’d simply wear a shirt with long sleeves to cover them up.

Despite all of this, you might still be able to recognize the boy after the transformation due to the fact that his face still holds its previous features, such as his slightly pointy nose, his green eyes, a small chin-beard (Which has also coloured a near-black purple) and his somewhat rounded jaw. He's also grown quite a bit. Where he was around six feet tall before, he's now grown to be about eight feet instead, towering over most people.

Background:
William grew up without his parents, having been found by a matron at an orphanage in Saffron City when he was a baby. That said, he enjoyed his time there, playing with the other kids, growing up and learning to write, read and the like. Every so often, a young couple would stop by and have a look at the various kids, William being split when it came to this. On one side, he really wanted a family, an actual home rather than living in one big house with twenty other children, but he didn’t want to leave the few friends he’d gathered behind either.

That said, he never got the chance to even make the choice. Everytime a couple came to adopt a child, they never chose him. It was either one of the other kids or, worst of all, one of his friends. There had been times where William had thrown a tantrum due to one of his friends leaving the orphanage, and even an incident when he socked one of the other kids in the jaw for leaving the others behind, which promptly resulted in William being sent to the attic to stay a day or two.

As time went on, all of William’s friends left, leaving only him and a bunch of other kids that he hadn’t made friends with, and at this point, he never bothered to. Before all of his friends had gone away, however, they had been sneaking out of the orphanage and taking trips around town, playing pranks on the people living there, or even stealing a treat or money for a movie ticket or the like.

And now that his friends weren’t around, William saw no reason to stick around himself, so he snuck out of the orphanage and ran away. From then on, he’d lived on the street, stealing or collecting bottles or the like to make a living. He’d found an old, spacey dumpster that he’d stolen away to hide under a small bridge on the outskirts of town, having tipped it onto its side and prodded open the lid with two thick branches, which made it look like a tiny house with a terrace.

He lived like this for many years, doing what he had to, to make do, but never once regretted his choice, despite how cold or lonely some of the nights could get. He kept a positive mindset throughout it all, even befriending a stray Pokémon or two, such as a Rattata or a Poochenya, which he shared some of his hard-earned food with. However, all that changed very recently, when a couple of dark-clad figures came to his ‘home’ in the middle of the night, knocked him out and took him away.

Features - Positive:
He’s able to use Haunter’s attacks and manipulate shadows and ghost energy.

He’s able to turn invisible, levitate to a certain height above ground and phase through solid objects.

He cannot be harmed by physical attacks, unless it’s empowered by a non-physical element such as fire, lightning, or even ice or psychic energy.

Features - Negative:
He’s unable to manipulate shadows and ghost energy aside from his regular Pokémon attacks without a good bit of training.

He needs to concentrate to be able to turn invisible, and he’s unable to do so for too long. If his concentration is broken, he becomes visible in an instant, or certain features of him becomes visible without him realizing.

Due to not being able to take any physical damage whatsoever, he takes extra damage from special attacks, like Flamethrower or the like.

Roleplay sample:
From One Piece: The Golden Age, a JP with another player.

Spoiler:
Hopping from one rooftop to the next, Lotte clumsily made her way towards the execution platform, eyes transfixed on the bizarre scene at the top. That was a bat! And- a dragon! She pointed, mouth agape but so giddy and excited that no words came out as she looked back over to Vance, bobbing up and down like a child at Christmas. Any excitement was short lived however, as soon enough, familiar shouting reached her ears and her face fell into a pout.

"It's the marines again!" She would certainly be complaining about how annoying they were when she got home- "Don't they have anything better to do than--" The young lady stopped short as her gaze lifted back towards the execution platform, seeing the large bat-creature flying the man who'd sat atop the platform away. Flying. F l y i n g.

"Vance I want to do that too!!" She exclaimed, suddenly changing direction from a one-way course towards the platform to following the rag tag group of-- bandits? Pirates? Law-breakers? Whatever they were, she didn't particularly care- she just wanted a ride on the monster too!

"Do-do what?!" He called out as he finally caught up with her, turning his head towards the platform, where he just saw the brief flicker of the man who had been standing up there along with a couple other figures he didn't really manage to see, leaping off into the crowd and seemingly making a run for it, with a large group of marines right behind them. "... Oh no, not more marines..." He cringed, turning back to Lotte to tell her just how bad the idea was, but as he turned, Lotte had seemingly vanished.

Blinking in surprise, he looked around himself, spotting the girl leaping over the rooftops back the way they came, towards the street the group running from the marines were heading towards. "L-Lotte, wait up! This isn't a good ideeeea!" Breaking back into a run, he dashed after her, leaping over the gaps of the buildings, panting slightly, still affected by his use of soru earlier. This girl's going to get killed if I'm not careful!

"Fly!" She answered, looking over her shoulder, "I want to fly too! Like the guy on the platfo--!?"

Where she'd expected her foot to hit solid roofing, she met nothing but thin air, feeling the weight of her body pulling her forward as if in slow motion as she turned to see the tiling of the streets below rushing towards her. A yelp of surprise escaped her before she could even fathom what had occurred, before she could even think of screaming out in full understanding of the fact that she'd run right off the edge of the roof and was plummeting into the hard ground and a stampede of marines-- but it wasn't another second before: "KYAAAAA--!"

As Vance saw Lotte leaping off the edge of the building and plummet downwards, he raised a hand and smacked it against his forehead. I knew it! He grit his teeth as he reached the edge of the building, jumping after her towards the streets below. He spun around in the air, pulling his arms back, a length of rope slithering out of his sleeves. Thrusting one hand upwards and the other down, two long ropes shot out, the upwards-one quickly coiling around a balcony's support beam, the other finding Lotte and swiftly coiling around her midriff, catching her before she managed to slam into the ground, although it would give her a bit of a backlash.

Breathing out a sigh of relief as he hung in midair, he took a moment to calm himself down. Okay... it's okay. I made it. He gave a little flick of his wrist, the rope around Lotte squirming a little, pulling her upright before plonking her onto the ground. He tugged on the other rope, which came loose from the balcony, leaving him to drop down, landing on his feet, with the ropes retracting back into his sleeves as he turned to Lotte, thwapping her on the head with the side of his hand in a semi-karate chop. "What do you think you're doing?! Be more careful!"

As she flailed back upright with both feet firmly on the ground, her momentary dread and fear washed away-- and she let out a breath of relief, hands on her cheeks as she wibbled, "That was close-" Her head angled to accomodate for the force of Vance's hand colliding with it and she switched instantly into full-pout-mode. "I was being careful! It's not my fault rooftops are so small here!!" Pulling out a white handkerchief, she bit down, pulling at it and turning away as dramatic tears rolled down her cheeks, "Uuuu Vance hit meeeee--!! ...?"

But it wasn't long before she snapped out of it, staring at the throng of marines chasing the bat-man and company.

"Hey isn't that--?!" She stiffened as she heard a man amongst them recognize Vance and her as the fugitives from earlier, and whipped around to look at the former with a half-dread and half-apologetic face.

"... I'll leave it to you!" Lott exclaimed, hightailing it in the opposite direction and wailing over her shoulder, "I'm sorry I don't know how to fiiiight!!"

Vance had almost begun to apologize for hitting her, but she suddenly just sped off, leaving him in confusion, until he noticed the group of marines shouting at him and Lotte to stop while darting straight for them. "... Why do I always get pulled into these situations?!" The marines were too close for him to be able to run away from, leaving him little to no choice. He spread his legs apart, raising his hands in a ready stance, the worried, panic-stricken expression on his face quickly being replaced with a determined, steeled one.

Pulling his arms back, the lengths of rope slipped out of his sleeves again, knotting themselves off at the ends before Vance thrust his arms forwards, exclaiming "Overhand knot!", the knotted ropes flying forwards and smacking straight into two marines' faces, toppling them over, the rest of them continuing forwards unabated. He pulled the ropes back with a firm tug, letting them slide into his sleeves as the group of marines caught up with him, swinging their swords at him.

He managed to hop backwards, followed by him leaping over another swipe, planting a hand on one of their heads as he passed over him, raising his leg into the air before his foot came crashing into his back, sending him into the ground. The others turned to Vance with him bent over on top of the one marine, throwing his left arm backwards, the rope shooting from his sleeve again, wrapping around a marine's throat, causing him to drop his sword and flail about. "Double Half-Hitch!" Vance shouted as he pulled his arm forwards, sending the marine flying into two of his companions, the rope seemingly loosening midair and returning to him.

With the small group of marines defeated, Vance stood up, panting as he looked over the small pile of soldiers. "Well, I guess I'm not staying here any long-"

"Waaaaiiit!" Lotte cried out after the bat, "I want to ride too!!"

"Stop right there, pirate scum!"

Vance blinked and looked up, paling as he saw a giant group of marines barelling towards him. Without even thinking about it, he turned tail and darted in the direction Lotte had escaped to as well. "Lotteeee! Wait for meeee!"

This seems really interesting, and I hope it gets more interest soon. Consider this a placeholder for my SU, if that is alright by you!

Subject #221

NAME: Elsie Chaney
AGE: Nineteen, 19
POKéMON SPECIES: Zoroark

PERSONALITY: Elsie is a goodhearted individual who lets her morals guide her through life decisions. Yet though she is friendly with those closest to her, she tends to keep herself secluded from the world, watching from a distance. Her observant ways often lead to over viewing the happenings of the world around her rather than participating in the current events. She prefers to gain perspective before initiating any form of contact. This has allowed her the capability of picking out one's characteristics and mannerisms by simply viewing a brief conversation, and then utilizing this information to achieve a goal. Elsie is incredibly persuasive in her speech, mostly due to this knowledge she obtains, but instead of personal gain in mind she rather becomes an advocate for the underdogs.

She will always put others before herself, even if it means forgoing her own health or safety. She would rather put herself at risk than see those around her suffer in any way. This gives way to a protective nature she has adapted from the infused Zoroark during the Project. Since the transformation she has become territorial in nature, which drives her the act out of the ordinary when it comes to those invading what she sees as hers. This includes items of affection, areas deemed as safe havens, and most of all people she has come to deeply care about. When threatened, she will react on instinct to do anything within her power to protect her 'pack.'

Her knowledge of Pokémon is limited due to her low class upbringing. Even at the age of nineteen she remained sheltered from the world under her parents' paranoia. Never being allowed to have relationships with others and moving constantly throughout the region, Elsie was forced to find other ways to entertain herself as a child. She took up reading the books her parents though they had hidden well and from there most of her ideas of the world were set in place. The books told stories of legendary people fighting alongside Pokémon, or of great Pokémon beasts who could tame the wilds. She grew up fascinated with these fantasies and developed a dangerous curiosity that sometimes leads her into trouble.

Elsie is a diplomat who will always try to find a peaceful solution before jumping headlong into a battle. She has an extreme reluctance and dislike for violence, but when pushed to the brink she will fight back with everything she has. She will view a situation from a strategic standpoint, looking for ways to trip up and enemy and take them down with speed rather than strength. The sooner the conflict has ended the less damage inflicted on both side.

Finally, Elsie prefers to see the light within everyone, and believes that there is goodness in someone's heart no matter their past. She is a strong supporter of second chances and won't hesitate to offer a helping hand to try and bring someone back on the right path. Everyone makes mistakes in life, and her philosophy is to look passed them for a brighter future. However, her view on this becomes slowly obscured when she was kidnapped for The Gijinka Project, and suddenly the world isn't as great of a place as her naïve mind initially believed.

APPEARANCE: She stands on the average end for Gijinka's around approximately seven foot one weighing almost feather light for her size to improve the fluidity and speed of her movements. Her torso and lower body has mainly retained her lithe human figure, while her skin is a pale white fading into black starting from head down to her to feet. Her hands and feet have long, sharp red claws extending from her nails out which make shoes or gloves difficult to wear.

Her once auburn hair has taken on the Zoroark's fur-like consistency and has grown out in a bushy red mane with black tips that reaches down past her knees. Attached like appendages to her hair are three light blue orbs that glow when certain powers are activated. She and all others have been unable to removed these objects, and have thus been deemed as a part of her body. Two are found hanging near the base of her neck while the third and largest is attached to the very end of her mane. From the side towards the top of her head rests two pointed fluffy black ears that greatly enhance her hearing.

Elsie has acquired red markings that rim both eyes as well as bright cerulean blue irises. Most human like attribute in her face remained the same, such as her small pointed nose and sharp face. In all, she can appear normal to the outside world with her illusion abilities in order to hide her Gijinka state.

BACKGROUND: Elsie was born to Carter and Helen Chaney, who tried many times before to conceive a child before Elsie finally came into the world as their first and only success. The Chaney's were renowned researchers of Pokémon and human interactions who traveled the world before settling in Hoenn for some time. Elsie grew up in Lilycove City and lived there fourteen years of her life. The majority of these years were spent in a lonely isolation as he parents would often leave for research in neighboring cities.

Though she didn't understand it at the time (and still has trouble doing so today), the girl was forbidden to converse with the other people or Pokémon of her city. Instead, she spent her time reading or writing adventure tales. Elsie was never given the opportunity to become a Pokémon trainer and so settled for the prospect of a Breeder when she grew older. However, around the time of her fifteenth birth year things changed. Her parents were called to Kanto for a special research project that claimed to be able to change the world. The family moved across the sea for this job and settled at their new home in Saffron City.

It was only a year after the move when her parents began acting strangle. A paranoia set over the household like a plague, where shades would be shut during the day and they wore cloaks when venturing outside. Elsie began to understand that they were hiding, but from what she did not know. One night they packed only their necessary belongings and left Saffron City, taking refuge in Viridian. Elsie and her family moved several times more after this, and each time her parents grew more frenzied.

Because of these happenings the girl was never allowed to essentially have a life of her own, ever as she grew into her later years. She began adapting her parents' paranoia to the point where she believed something, or someone, was watching them.

It was around the age of nineteen when they collectively relaxed a little, and allowed themselves to slowly become a part of the world again. Yet after all the running and hiding they didn't escape the bad happenings. Elsie was preparing the leave her parents and find her own way in life on the eve she was kidnapped by The Gijinka Project, and it was then she realized that her parents weren't crazy after all.

FEATURES - Positive:
Her enlarged fox-like ears enhance her hearing greatly. She is able to discern conversations from an unseen distance or hear the faint heartbeat of the person next to her, but her range only goes so far.

Elsie has obtained many of the attack powers belonging to Zoroark, including the ability to create illusions indistinguishable from reality unto others. Though these illusions have no physical effect, they are realistic to the point when someone would believe they were being harmed should she conjure and illusion attack. This also allows her to veil herself in a disguised appearance without the need for transformation.

Most of her attacks manifest in spheres or beams of dark energy that has been condensed from her surroundings. She is able to feed off the negative emotions of those around her to strengthen her attacks as well as enhancing the recharge of physical energy used to fight.

Her physical strength is lesser than that of average Gijinka's, and her bone structure is almost brittle in nature. Yet where she lacks in hand-to-hand combat she gains in more powerful special attacks. Because of her physical weakness and the danger is poses to her health should she come to physical harm, her body has found a way to protect itself. The blue orbs attached to her hair activate to create a force field of energy that can withstand certain attacks.

FEATURES - Negative:
Her abilities can often been hard to control, or unable to be governed at all in her current state. Her hearing often impairs her with mild to severe headaches. This is due to the fact that she cannot turn it off in any sense. Sometimes, when she is distressed or otherwise emotionally compromised, her hearing reaches decibels almost unbearable. There are times when she cannot make heads or tails of conversations when there is a large crowd.

She is still learning to use her powers from the infused Zoroark and her control over them wavers here as well. Elsie projects illusions sometimes without realizing it. These illusions will often be playbacks of fond memories, or nightmares she has experience.

The only way to keep sane with the dark energy she absorbs is to constantly seek out a source of positive emotions. Because of this she is reliant upon others to either enhance her strength or bring her down from a mental negative high. Though she was designed to be a solider, she cannot function with her powers as a loner in battle. If she consumes too much dark energy without the balance of light she loses herself in a conscious coma-like state. During this time, Elsie is guided solely on instinct and all emotions or morals that dictate decisions are nonexistent. She stays this way until all negative energy has been drained from her system.

The force field she conjures is mostly random, or triggered by instinct during a sudden extreme of onset anxiety. In addition, it can only withstand so many attacks before the structure is broken. In order to solidify, this power utilizes a great amount of both dark and light energy. It cannot be used in succession and has to be allowed a long span of recharge time. Her other powers are weakened by this ability and cause her exhaustion after its use. This power is used rarely in battle.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: From SwiftSign's roleplay Game of Pokémon, as Cyrus Droganni.

Spoiler:
The accommodations the prince had within the local village inn were a far stretch from the luxuries he has known since birth. Growing up as the crown prince, Cyrus was accustom to the plush lifestyle of royalty, and since he was never permitted outside the sights of the palace he knew nothing of the poverty that plagued parts of the realm. Yet even as a chilled breeze crawled its way through hidden cracks in the walls and the rickety wood bed was made with a thin, tattered quilt that frayed on the ends, he found a sense of comfort in the homely atmosphere of the room. It was the work of a man who struggled to put bread on the table at dinner to feed his family every night, and he who laid his weary bones down in a house desperate for repairs. Cyrus respected that with every inch of his soul, and he felt it in him to pay the inn far more than what was required of him.

As day melted into night and the moon rose steadily in the sky, his heavy eyelids began to droop and the prince fell into the temptations of sleep. Yet as the night drew onward, his rest was that of a fitful one. The young man twitched and tossed in his unconsciousness and wild limbs lashed out towards an unseen foe. Soft whimpers escaped from trembling lips that roused the other living entity in the room. Aurora, from her spot curled at her partner’s bedside, immediately felt a sense of unease as she was awoken from her own drowsy stupor. With a thrust of her wings she levitated herself off the ground and surveyed the room with sharp eyes. The Pokémon soon realized that the cause of her panic was coming from her distressed human counterpart, who struggled beneath the bed covering as it clung to his damp skin.

She pressed her head against his warm cheek and nudged the prince, “Gon…”

With a chocking gasp, Cyrus’ eyes spot open and he leaped up into a sitting position. Sweat rolled from his body in waves as he shivered from the after effects of the nightmare. Fiery red hair stuck to his face and neck and all he could feel was heat radiating from his own body. His breathing was harsh and shallow as if he had been running, and he dropped his head into unsteady hands while trying to regain composure.

“Gon,” Aurora cooed as she maneuvered her head beneath his arm.

After taking a few deep breaths and feeling his erratic heartbeat find a stable rhythm he let out a soft sigh and gave the Dragonair a half-hearted smile, patting her head affectionately. “I’m alright, girl.” It had been a while since he last dreamt like that. The horrors of the night followed him months after his mother’s departure from this world, but they disappeared over time. Perhaps it was due to this journey dragging up old horrors and even older memories.

Cyrus untangled his lanky legs from the bedspread and swung off the bed, bare feet touching soundlessly on the floor, and made his way to the backdoor. Thankfully, his room was on the second floor of the inn, and was fitted with a small balcony that overlooked one of the alleyways. As he stepped out on the weathered wood planks he felt the cool night air dance off his warm skin. It felt nice. He gripped the railing and leaned into its touch. Below, the streets were deserted for the night and only patrolmen walked its cobbled ground, illuminating the shadows with fiery torches. The prince watched listlessly as a guard walked the alleyway beneath his balcony before slowly disappearing around the corner. Behind him, Aurora slithered out beside him, sharing the silence between them.

“Sorry for waking you,” he said sadly. She brushed against his leg in response to show she didn’t mind.

With another drawn out sigh he turned to head back inside, but a flicker of moonlight caught his eye. Squinting his eyes he could see a dark figure on a roof not far from the inn. Peculiar. What would someone be doing up there at this time of night? Straining further Cyrus tried to get a better look at the man (or woman) when he heard the flutter of wings, and with it dozens of dark-type Pokémon flying towards the inn. It was clear instantly that they held nothing but malice in their eyes as they swarmed the village.

Cyrus jumped into action. “Attack! We’re under attack—!” His yelled warning was cut off as the body of a Murkrow slammed brutally into his side, sending him tumbling backwards onto the ground. He felt the sharp talons of the bird slice through the sleeve of his white tunic and felt a quick flash of pain before the Pokémon was blown away from him by the small tornado Aurora conjured.

“Thanks,” he breathed, clutching his arm tightly. He got himself into a sitting position and nodded to the door. “You need to go warn Rowan.”

The Dragonair hesitated, looking between the door and her injured partner, and shook her head. “Go now!” he commanded, and with one last look at Cyrus she took off for Rowan’s room.

Brandi Mitchell

Name: Brandi Mitchell

Age: 21

Pokemon Species: Gardevoir

Personality: Brandi is a reformed nihilist, suffering from a series of unfortunate events that started since before she was born. The simplest way to describe her is to say that she's an optimistic misanthrope, who sees all of the flaws in everything and wants to keep fighting for the good things no matter how much the darkness tries to smother her. There is a goodness to be found in people, and she's willing to give most of them the chance to prove it, and help them achieve it, but that doesn't mean she lacks teeth. There are some people that just aren't good, that aren't one of the things worth fighting for, and they'll suffer soon enough. Not by her hand, but because the world doesn't distinguish between the good and the bad, between those who cause suffering and those who try to heal it. Everything has its time.

Being the practical sort, Brandi has a few skills that can come in handy, and she knows what they are with some certainty, as well as her weaknesses. She tries to acknowledge the areas where she fails, and tries to stop herself from encouraging others to, lest she become preachy, which is one vice in particular that she wants to avoid. She wants to improve herself as a person, and bring goodness to wherever she can place it, while enjoying whatever she can find. Whether it's in a simple tune, a personal joke, or the sight of the sun setting across the horizon.

Thanks to her upbringing, Brandi has a good knowledge of Pokemon, philosophy and religion, as well as plenty of time spent losing herself in whatever media she could get her hands on, which leads to a tendency to quote odd things she's heard that may or may not be entirely relevant to the situation at hand, but she thinks it makes her sound smart or it's a fun thing to say, so it's going to get said. She has a few odd trivia facts lodged in her brain, as well, which are likely to come blurting out thanks to her habit of talking quietly to herself. This is due to the fact that a few years of her life were spent as alone as she could be, which means her social skills are ever so slightly rusty, and she doesn't have a very good grasp on politics or current events.

Thanks to her previous lack of enthusiasm, Brandi never truly bonded with a Pokemon, and her views of those who had were dubious at best. But, since her personal enlightenment, she sees it as something she could be interested in attaining, if they could earn a bond through companionship. And she's always seen the practicality of keeping them, even if some means are for reasons that are less than fun, such as how to tame or treat them in such a way as to gather food or drink. She's something of a vegetarian due to this fact, as well as it being easier to find vegetarian food when on one's lonesome, as opposed to hunting without proper equipment or buying with no money.

Brandi was a young woman whose life was hell, until she learned to accept that it's how the world works, and, as a mortal, she had no ability to impact it on a large scale. Then, Project Gijinka has happened and made her, along with many others, living gods...

Appearance: Brandi stands at a modest seven foot tall, with a wiry and elegant frame that allows many of her movements to seem far more graceful than they were intended. The general structure of her body has been streamlined, lessening the majority of her girth, especially her waist, to far skinnier than it had been before, along with the size of her bust. In contrast, her hips have widened, to provide something of a mount for the dress-like membrane that has grown since her metamorphosis. Along her spine and from the center of her chest protrude thin, short lengths of chitin, in a vibrant crimson, which glow gently when her abilities are manifesting. From her waist, there is a membrane formed from a series of linked armored plates that flow behind her with every step, serving as a kind of elegant protection for her lower-half, which acts more like hair than most combat armor.

As a young woman with skin that was already pale, the transformation has turned Brandi's skin into a cool, stark white, with a rare strike of green along her arms. Her hair has likewise been changed, to a luscious green that seems to mold into whatever shape it's wished into, including hardening for the purposes of defense or protection from the elements. Across her brow, her skin slowly hardens into chitinous plates, with three spikes that flare to each side, which form the masquerade-mask look that compliment Gardevoir's common comparisons to a ballroom dancer. These cover and mold with her ears, which have become longer, thinner, and pointier to fit in more easily with the "mask".

Along with the major changes to her physical form, a series of minor changes have affected Brandi's form. Her eyes are now a deep crimson, and have grown larger, while her nose has been altered to a more petite size. Her body is entirely hairless, save for the hair-like membrane atop her skull, and she no longer produces any natural scent. Rather than walking, she floats just above the ground and moves through gentle force of will, although she's capable of walking. She also has no bellybutton.

Background: Brandi was born to Robert and Sophie Mitchell, each of them Rangers, but separate in every other way. Robert was a praying man, who saw the world through a filter of religion, dogma, and the firmly held belief that everything would turn out alright, in the end. And when it didn't, it would be part of The Plan, leading to a greater good. These beliefs stuck with him from when he was nothing but a homeless scavenging child, to when he tamed his first Pokemon and eventually found a woman he could love, with every detail precisely attributed to the little leatherbound book he kept tucked in front of his heart.

Sophie Mitchell was a different kind of person, although she likewise considered herself that of a good kind. She was laidback in many things, and saw similarities or simple facts of life where her husband would have presented prejudice. In part, she was a pragmatist, which is what earned her both enemies and friends, while also making her an excellent Ranger, much as many might have doubted her. Although the types of people that Robert and Sophie were seemed to clash, they made fast friends in each other through admiration of their lesser qualities, and ignorance of those that were the foundations of their being. In the end, they would have only a few years of joy, in return for gifting the world with a lifetime of suffering.

From a young age, Brandi was raised by both philosophies, each of which gave her the worst of what could be seen. She watched the brutality of nature, in the fighting of Pokemon and slaying of others for meat, as she was trained in the ways of a Ranger, although she was twice shy of most problems she encountered. Even in times of rest, she had to sit at home and watch as the world began to break down at the seams on television, despite the apparent idyllic upbringing that wealth and happy parents would bring serving as only a small, fake shelter from the world at large. Friends were made, certainly, although none of them stuck. As was the nature of many friendships, they broke apart thanks to petty squabbling that left her feeling upset, or broken, as she watched bonds she had thought strong simply slip away in the passage of human nature. And the response of her parents were simply apathetic; better friends would be made, and she should deal with the loss. No sugar-coating for the growing young girl, despite the apparent best intentions of her parents.

By her teenage years, Brandi was beginning to feel hollow, separated from true friendship by both circumstance and her own fear of being bitten. And that was when her home life began to break down. The wilds she lived by were beginning to get more dangerous, and her parents conflicted on what they should do, with her father supporting finding refuge elsewhere, while her mother supported staying where their own work had forged them a life, and pointed out that no uprising by Pokemon had ever succeeded in the past. This only changed when Robert was slain by a Pokemon he was attempting to calm, who had wandered dangerously close to the Mitchell home. Sophie moved away with Brandi shortly after.

They stayed with relatives, for a time, as Sophie become more reclusive, and colder to her child, whose eyes reminded her too much of the deceased Robert. Then, she lost her job; she was getting old, and her partner was gone, and the Rangers could no longer afford to keep them on the payroll. With no money, they couldn't help their relatives with upkeep, and had to move in with other refugees of the rapidly-advancing wilds. There were a few other "good people" there, but all Brandi heard was the noise of rumors, saying that their servers were cheating on their partners, news of a tragedy from Unova, or the ever degenerating relationships between countries, including the one they found themselves in.

Brandi's mother was crushed to death in a stampede for food by the desperate refugees. Brandi was taken to the bankers to negotiate her inheritance, forcing her to deal with paperwork she couldn't sign and records she didn't have access to. It looked like they were going to take it all, everything her family might have left her, and leave her as just another refugee, desperate for survival and ruining the lives of others while focusing on her own. She wanted to fight back somehow, to take another swing at the world that seemed so putrid...but violence had never been in her nature. She didn't want to be like any monster of the world, but she didn't have the strength to sustain her virtues. Like a coward, she ran away.

Brandi survived on scavenged berries and food left by the roadside, none of it fresh, with only her clothes and her wits to keep her around, as she tried to remain isolated from the world while moving through it. She had a few bad encounters, but, as the years went by, she started to get used to it. There was a certain solidarity to be found in detachment.

Then, something wonderful happened. Brandi was passing over a large bridge and spotted a woman standing on its edge, barely gripping it as she prepared to jump. Not knowing her own movements, Brandi rushed to the edge of the bridge and begged the woman not to do it, not to end her own life. She pleaded with everything she could think of, professing all the wonders of the world and all of the goodness that could be found in it, if only the woman would let her show them. And the woman let her. Brandi learned that her name was Maya, and they spent the night talking together, on the bridge, both of them learning something that they didn't think was possible. Life is harsh and cruel, and they're only mortals in a threatening world. And that only makes it more wonderful when they find the goodness. It might not always be obvious, but it's there, and they could make it happen. Just as Brandi proved, by saving Maya's life.

That night, Brandi was kidnapped by Project Gijinka.

Features - Positive: Brandi is capable of using telekinesis on both a passive and active level, although not on any large offensive or defensive scale. Her telekinetic abilities are most often used to compliment her existing methods of acting, such as providing herself with a particular shield against an effect, or reaching out to grab a nearby object she might be able to use.

While lacking in the ability to outright read minds, like many of her kind, Brandi possesses the ability to see into the past and the future, allowing her to see many possibilities that have been taken and may be taken in the future. She can only process this ability thanks to the hypercognitive abilities of the Gardevoir, granting increased intelligence and recollection, which have been specialized in this particular incarnation to make her a different form of Gardevoir than that of the other subject spliced with the same pokemon. This precognition is most often used in short bursts, and only into the immediate future, to better compliment her fighting style.

In addition, Brandi is gifted with the ability to heal herself and others. This ability is fueled by her empathy, leaving her increasingly unable to heal others if she hasn't had any time to form a bond of compassion with them, and especially unlikely to be able to heal people who have wronged her in the past.

Brandi is easily capable of teleportation, whether it be to ten feet away to avoid a swiftly-rolling boulder, or halfway across the country to receive medical treatment. Unfortunately, this requires that she have studied or has a reasonable expectation for where she'll end up, which makes arriving at a specific location unlikely, unless she has had ample time to get familair with it.

Features - Negative: In sharp contrast to common ailments affecting those under great psychic stress, Brandi isn't tired by grandiose displays of power, such as using them to halt an assault of missiles and fling them back at their defenders. Instead, the rush of power through her body causes her mind to accelerate faster than she can handle, absorbing every ounce of information in the area and encouraging her to work harder, move faster, use more energy. She becomes so focused on the passage of time and every event within it that she loses touch with her emotions, which leads to her losing inspiration for the fight or task at hand, losing her loyalty or ability to perceive things that might affect her morality. She becomes a hyper-focused machine of logic, causing her to lose sight of that which is dear to her heart and potentially do things she'll regret.

Brandi is easily susceptible to emotions and horrors, meaning that depictions of dark things are likely to make her lose her focus. She's sensitive to many emotions, almost all of which can affect her adversely in any situation, as long as she isn't already in a trance-like state.

Roleplay sample:
Spoiler:
The quartet's crunches being the only sound that resonated through the desolate halls of despondent and dead civilization, Dee began to focus on it. Their strides were never quite in tune, no matter how much she tried to correct it. A shortening of steps or quickening of pace, but she couldn't match the mutant with irregular gait, the Rat who jingled with the weight of stranger's mementos, or the gentleman with a dirty face; they were a group of wanderers, without a goal to bind them or any union of flesh. The were brought together only by the circumstances of the world with a bleeding heart; a forced gauze that would soon be buried in sanguine fluids.

Their steps were a symphony to those who would listen, with an ear for the arrival of strangers and the sense to judge them. Irregular and out of touch, but it was their sound. Back home, Dee had heard the stories of the cities that buzzed with the sounds of life, of joined humanity. Where she would rest on grumbling engines and the crunch of roads beneath jury-rigged wheels, the laughter of a hundred families would echo through suburbia, the ecstasy of lovers both young and old could be heard between silk sheets or the spontaneity of an alley, and while one person slept, another would sing to the clouds, and another would dance to their song, and love would spark within the heart of an observer.

Riggertown was not like that. Its frigid streets stood in stasis, save for the odd clatter of machinery or uproarious reactions from a place too far from view. If the lives of people from the old world were bodies that flickered sensuously amongst each other, the civilization Dee now walked through was the last twitches of those bodies thrown into a chasm. It was the same wherever she went, even in the communities that hadn't yet been destroyed by her family, or the ranches where the noises of animals were meant to be heard. Whatever could bring vivacity was the result of anger or trauma; she'd screamed enough times to know that. In the void of frozen streets, all Dee could hear was their footsteps.

And it drove Dee mad. Like the beating of a drum, it pounded against her skull incessantly in its inevitability. It was going to be there for as long as she lived, no matter who she trod alongside, there would be footsteps against lands once given in good faith, and the knowledge that it was pointless to try. One step was a cut, and the first of thousands that would leave her wallowing in despair or brimming with frustration. Then she would find some way to get rid of those excessive emotions, and the first cut would come soon after. The process would begin again, and pound the inside of her skull, and nobody would realize. It was a burden for her shoulders alone.

The reverie of numbness and frustration came to a sudden end, as Dee stepped across the borders of authority and was bathed in the warmth of cobbled together radiators and enclosed spaces. She hadn't realized the cold, while struggling to think of ways to speak aloud the dogged thoughts, but its sudden departure was enough to draw her attention to the situation at hand. The immediate room was nothing special, Dee noticed, as their surroundings came into clarification and the beaten-down wood of a building furnished too long ago to be presentable. There were places where things could be kept fresh, such as the tribes the Nomads rarely came across in their travels over unpaved roads, and some particularly diligent steaders. Bartertowns never seemed to have the mien of care to them, though; much less in those who had others to care for it in their absence.

Nobody to guard the immediate entry area, or even a person to call for help if anyone of dangerous intent entered. Maybe the leader was short-sighted, Dee thought, because the more obstacles between somebody and a bullet, the better their chance of survival. As she saw the raggedy man leave an adjoining room flanked by two grunts with maintained weapons fit for mowing down crowds, Dee saw that he had plenty for his own protection. Except for something for protection in a fight between himself and a lone combatant. It would have been all too easy for either of those men to gun him down and take his place, or for adversaries to grow confidence at his complacence. Not a scrap of armor adorned his suit, and the leader could have been dead before a single shot was fired from the goons' guns.

This leader of vulnerable flesh shook the hands of her companions before coming to Dee herself, but she offered a mere glare to his offered hand. Touching was nowhere near necessary for a simple greeting, and any finger laid upon the man would sooner be in violence than kindness. He moved on from it without a word spoken about her denial, and continued on his tirade of honeyed words suited to manipulate the group in a manner just to his liking. And what an offer it was, with an explanation fit only to serve the man's stupidity and delusions of grandeur in the face of those he surely saw as idiots meant to run about for his amusement. The man couldn't even protect his own livestock, which was a problem unheard of in Bartertowns with competent leaders that could handle their own guns. In the Nomads, there would be no such thing as a leader who couldn't fight.

So she spoke up. "You know what I think?" Dee asked, after two of her companions agreed to the leader's notion without any further word. "I think **** you. You want to send us to our deaths, without a few rounds of ammo or even one of your goons? I'm not gonna walk into a deathtrap, while you're sitting all poncy with your armed guards that can't protect your own animals. You're either stupid or greedy, and I ain't got patience for either, so help us help you save this town with something we can hold. And I'm the only one in this group who can fight worth a damn, so unless you wanna take your chances another fighter will wander into this frozen hole before your animals're dead, give us some real support."

How's that?

Soo, this is slightly awkward but we have two Gardevoir; Lilizuki's above and one from Songbird that was PMed to me a fair while back while I was asleep.

I personally don't have a big problem with having two Gardevoir - maybe one of the scientists really liked them or something If one of you two really has a problem with sharing pokemon then tell me and we'll try and sort something out, or if one of you wants to change that's fine by me. For now you're both accepted as Gardevoir.

And yup Roen, reservation for you.

Name: Roku Sill
Age: 16
Pokemon: Mightyena

Personality: Roku is very quick to judge and react to situations, being bashful at times and getting things wrong when things could have easily been right. His bashful nature comes from his father who originally worked down a mine and was always wary of his surroundings; he once killed a bird with his foot because it came up behind him. Sometimes Roku can be aggressive when angry, and doesn't hesitate to cause some harm, which often ends him in deep trouble. His mind is always set on doing the right thing, but he has a funny way of doing it. On a more positive side, he is very hard-working, and if stuck, tends to do more research and use more time than an average person, and that hardworking attitude landed him at a very prestigious school, which he enjoyed.

His biggest care in the world is nature. He finds plants and pokémon simply fascinating, and he is very knowledgeable on the subject. He thinks of all pokémon as equal, no matter if he isn't a vegetarian (he believes that each animal has a place in this world, and a purpose, milktank just tend to be there for his pleasure, because he loves beef.) He can be very single minded when it comes down to pollution issues and environmental change, preferring to stick up for the pokémon habitats over human needs. Also, collecting an array of flowers and gardening are two of his hobbies.

When it comes down to pokémon Roku loves them all, but his favorites are the mountain dwelling ones that survive throughout the harshest terrain and weather, and admires their courage and bravery. He has always had some connection with pokémon, despite how dark the world seemed to be, and had several friends in the forest who admires his personality. In a sense, he is always gentle in the habitats of pokémon, but viscous in the habitat of humans. He despises humans, and views them as the people who brought tragedy to the world.

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Roku is a tall lad with dark black hair covering his eyes, and markings underneath his eyes that resemble that of a mighteyena. A pair of ears sprout up at the top of his head a-midst the mass of dark hair on his head. His eyes are a dark, but gentle red, and a grin across his face. He doesn't wear shoes at all no matter the location, and you won't genuinely see him in anything fancy, normally something basic such a a white t-shirt and jeans. He is quite muscular and strong, tall and thin, a perfect fit for most clothes. A big bushy tail sticks out the back finalizing the wolf details. Surprisingly, no-where else but his tail and head beholds any hair. He can withdraw and redraw his claws as he wishes (kinda like wolverine but on his fingers and not between)

Background: Roku was born in Kanto, under a great oak tree in Viridian forest by his single mother Maria. His father hadn't stuck around to say hello. His mother was picking berries that day and suddenly collapsed to the ground in a heap, desperately crying in pain for she was pregnant. The forest pokémon came to see, but as they got there, the mother had passed out. They carried the mother to the tree, and soon, the pokémon and Roku's mother had delivered a baby boy. A year later Roku's baby sister was born, Kori. Roku and Kori never got along like any brother and sister, but she was definitely the bossy one. The mother had a terrible time trying to keep up with demands as they lived in the small town of Pallet Town, away from all the disaster elsewhere. When the two were growing up, the father came back to see them, although mother didn't approve. Roku took after his father somewhat whilst Kori adopted her mother's caring and lady-like nature. The both grew up casually like normal children from then on...

As Roku settled back in with his mother at 14, his sister had passed away due to a riot in Viridian. He started to realize what bad shape the world was in at this time, and started to go shy and away from the world. He got into his studies and got into a prestigious school, not lasting long however as he was dragged out by his mother before there were more riots in the streets. His mother suddenly became very protective over him, but alas he didn't care. He took regular trips to the forest to meet all his friends there, and defend the weaker pokémon against the slightly more stronger ones. He lived this way for 2 years before he was taken away, and his mother went into depression, thinking she had lost her only other son.

Features - Positive: Can distort darkness itself and blind a foe from the light, running up with a sharp claw and badly damaging a foes face or other body parts. He is very agile and can run on all fours when he needs to be fast. In a sense he is almost invisible. His senses are very acute as well, having extraordinary sound and smell senses. Along with that, the research team that were involved used a specially bred Mightyena which with-holded the power of the elements, (fire thunder ice, and quite obviously dark) with fused with his claws to give him more power.
Features - Negative: His methods of fighting available to him do not comply with what he wished for in life (he doesn't intend to ever hurt anybody.) Has big effects on his state of mind, and he is constantly concerning over whether he is human or wolf/mighteyena as his instincts are awakened every so often. Sometimes he can even lose his mind and become viscous however not without reason

Roleplay sample:
"What do you think?" the voice calls out to me, begging me to join it in conversation. I lift myself off the stone surface to view the open sky ahead of me, not a cloud can be seen, and the lush orange sunset brings warm thoughts to my mind, warming my heart.
"What do I think of what?" I say back quickly, whilst admiring the sun go down to it's pitiful descent.
"About the sun," she says. I never truly think about the sun, it's just something there that brings life to our world. In saying that though, I guess I do have something to say, at least. I explain to her that the sun to me represents all life on this planet, like a great leader of nature in one big ball of gas. She giggles and I have a little laugh too.
"I suppose you could say it's like a friendly King?" she whispers to me. I don't understand why she had to whisper the words, but I play along with it anyways.
"I suppose you and I could live on the sun one day." She goes quiet for a few seconds, turning her head towards the sun as it departs from our half of the earth into the next. She turns to me once more.
"I would like that," she whispers again. I feel quite elated, something inside me is buzzing with excitement as if some enchanted ribbon had tied my heart to my soul.
"Someday..."

"I'll see you again... Emily."

Spoiler:

Julien Bellerose — 19♂

Pokémon Species: Gardevoir

Personality: When he's not tired, Julien gets to be very brash and headstrong. He won't say a lot, but when he does, he's loud about it (not that his volume changes much about how cute he looks when he's angry). Julien will kick your ass now and ask questions later when he's like this. He won't hesitate to tell you what's wrong with you, and has no problem adding a few "&*%!s" and "#@*&s" if it seems appropriate. He dislikes being protected or treated like he's weaker than someone else, and will gladly insult you and call you retarded for thinking so. Or if you just do something stupid, like charge into a battle you know you can't win. (That may be the best thing about this side of him, really: Julien knows when he's beat.)

Julien is a lot better when he's sleepy or otherwise inactive; his voice is light and relaxed, his emotions show much better, he's much calmer and kinder, and—dare I say it—he's even affectionate. When he's not worked up, Julien is like a total contrast to the obstinate jerkass he normally is. While he wouldn't typically let anything get to him if he's in Jerkass Mode, this Julien is very submissive, a sweetheart and hyper-passive by comparison. He's easily pleased and likes to please, and nearly anything can put him on the verge of tears.

Appearance: Julien has a very slim figure. Standing at 5'10" and weighing only 126lbs, Julien's frame is very similar to a Gardevoir's, albeit a couple inches taller. He has nearly no muscle mass to speak of past what's required to support his body, lending to being physically weak. Between that and his white skin—and the wide, pink-red eyes; the mixed blonde and pale green hair that reaches between his eyes and curls inward under his ears (which are covered by what looks like a hard, spiked mask); the long, slender arms and legs; thin, dainty fingers; small torso; and the soft and warm, oft-tired voice coming from his small, usually expressionless mouth (Just so we're clear, this is a guy, right? Yeah? Okay.)—even the scientists were more delicate than normal whenever Julien was the guinea pig (even though he was subjected to further experimentation than most). Seriously, he looks like he'll break if you don't handle him with enough care. I mean, he's obviously very durable as a half-Pokémon freak, but that's not going to be your first thought, is it? No, it's going to be what comes to mind when he's saving your dumb ass after you get injured thinking you should protect him.

He also has clothes that were created and bound to him through his newfound power, as well as the number 142 tattooed on his wrist. While not directly attached to his body, they can't naturally be removed, nor can they be altered (no matter how much Julien or anyone else tries). They consist of a long, flowing white gown with a single fringe reaching up the side of Julien's leg; and a short, pale green vest attached to itself at the center of his chest by what looks like a four-pointed ruby, with a matching pair of gloves that reach to his shoulders. Underneath the gown is a pair of leggings whiter than his skin, as well as a pair of white high heels. He doesn't actually walk much—he's usually floating on psychic energy, or teleporting if it's a short distance—but when he does, he walks deliberately and with purpose, even if he's just pacing.

Background: Born a Kalos native, Julien became a trainer at the ripe age of eleven, with a generic and boring early life in Laverre City, finding friends in humans and Pokémon alike—mostly trainers and their captured Pokémon, watching them battle and having fun with their Pokémon. It was a relatively peaceful youth. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked the Pokémon Professor sent him a letter telling him that he was chosen to be a trainer that year, along with two others.

When he arrived in Lumiose City, he was given a choice of one of four Pokémon: #TeamFennekin, #TeamFroakie, #TeamChespin, and God Goomy. Having grown up in Laverre, he chose what was familiar to him; a Pokémon he knew inside and out thanks to the trainers that passed through his hometown: Goomy. The other two children laughed the Pokémon off as a joke, being a slimy blob and choosing two of the "better" starter Pokémon in Fennekin and Chespin, but Julien loved Goomy anyways. After dominating his new rivals solely with a devastating Dragon Breath (his Sap Sipper ability totally screwing up Chespin), Julien decided that with the Messiah dragon-blob at his side, he could be a strong trainer and even defeat the gym leaders.

Julien was aggressive from the start in battle, but always looked out for his Pokémon's best interest before worrying about his own. He's taken more than a few hits from wild Pokémon for the sake of protecting his, and they grew a mutual trust with each other. They had their share of losses, but always bounced back, and relatively quickly acquired the experience to defeat his first gym leader with a team of two: Goomy and a Vulpix, which he'd hatched from an egg that its owner abandoned. He wanted to continue, but his parents decided on moving to Kanto a year after he began his journey. Goomy and Vulpix came with him, of course, and after hearing about another League he resolved to take on Kanto's gym leaders.

For a while, he did well. Four years he spent traveling Kanto, and in total he'd collected seven badges (including the one from Kalos) and gained the respect of a good number of the gym leaders. Goomy had evolved into a powerful Sliggoo, and Julien found a Fire Stone that he used on Vulpix, catching quite a few more Pokémon as he and his companions grew up. Then, it was during a visit back home in Cerulean City that he was knocked out cold and stolen away in the night by some shadowy persons of dubious origin, leaving his family and team behind.

When he woke up again, Julien had lost a good bit of muscle that he gained from climbing and running with his Pokémon across Kanto, and it seemed like his bones actually shrank during the time he was unconscious. His hair had started to turn from its dirty blonde to a pale green color, and his voice was softer and more feminine than its normally confident tone, too. He was told that he was in a remote facility, and had been infused with Pokémon DNA—Gardevoir, to be precise—and for the next two years he'd been subjected to experiments and tests that caused his body to develop much closer to a Gardevoir's; thankfully, for the most part, he managed to maintain himself, seeing more than a few subjects that failed to hold onto their human consciousness. He didn't know whether it was the type of Pokémon they were fused with or just a weak will, but Julien had only become more receptive to the emotions of the scientists. Much of it was fear and intrigue.

The most interesting thing, to the scientists, and the experiment that was responsible for much of his transformation, was that Julien was able to withstand and grow stronger from Mega Evolving like a normal Gardevoir, alongside the bodily changes Mega Evolution entailed. He didn't get the physical or mental degradation (or death) that the (very few) other subjects suffered, or at least he didn't suffer nearly as badly as the rest did. Instead, he was more so split—mentally speaking—after the first few tests, and he found himself increasingly exhausted, which the researchers attributed to his human DNA not being made for the rapid and drastic changes brought on by the Mega Evolution. However, his power continued to grow as the Gardevoir DNA fused with his, and his body continued adapting in order to accommodate the changes.

Features|Positive
  • Holds many of the benefits of Gardevoir's typing, including a resistance to dragons and Dragon-type moves.
  • Immense psychic power, and is able to match, if not surpass, much of a normal Gardevoir's abilities. Psychic powers and Mega Evolution aside, Julien most notably gained Gardevoir's sensitivity to emotion and moderate telepathic ability.
  • Very pretty.
  • Sexy green hair; gets to screw the rules.
  • Capable of Mega Evolving, without suffering from the seriously harmful physical or mental effects nearly as much as most every other gijinka would.

Features|Negative
  • Tired often; prone to passing out when he's not exerting his power, and much more so after.
  • Virtually no physical strength to speak of whatsoever.
  • Holds many of the disadvantages of Gardevoir's typing, including a weakness to ghosts.
  • Julien is really pretty.
  • Like, tripolar or something.

Roleplay Sample

I made another.

Spoiler:

Ken and Len — 21♂

POKÉMON SPECIES: Aegislash

PERSONALITY: Ken is the most dominant, always taking charge and charging in. He's uninhibited and unashamed, will challenge anyone who challenges him, and will happily use Len as his weapon. Len, on the contrary, is more retaliatory than diving in head-first, and likes to use Ken as a... well, a shield, in order to buy him time to fight back effectively. They're both pretty violent overall, though. Len thinks ahead, but Ken tends to be stuck in the moment, always taking what life throws at him when it hits him. While they seem to be at odds with each other (and it's not hard to know when they are), they're really of a similar mindset, aside from a few key differences. They just have different methods for reaching the same goal. Len is more considerate of the world around him, and Ken, eh... not so much.

They like having purpose. Doesn't matter what it is, as long as they have a reason to get off their asses and do something. If they aren't doing anything, the pair might resolve to training, or Shield might just pick a fight for the hell of it. Also, y'know what I vaguely said about Ken being oblivious? He's also kind of loud if he's excited. Len is that voice trying to shut him up long enough to calm down and speak in a normal tone, and it works sometimes, but not every time. In spite of their violence, the twins are actually quite mature, and like being looked up to. They enjoy having a sense of leadership, and having someone rely on them. While Ken observes the world and tries to make himself stronger, Len in particular finds pleasure in figuring things out, like what combinations are best for their advantage, or how wild Pokémon act with each other to everyone's benefit, or which swimsuit looks best, and on whom.

APPEARANCE: The twins stand at separate heights and weights, with Len at 7' and Ken at 7'5"; they weigh roughly 175 and 200lbs, respectively. Ken is built more like a professional wrestler, with a wide torso, squared jaw and his entire body being its own center of gravity, and his muscles shape every inch of his body. His hair spikes upward only an inch, black from tip to follicle.

Len's body is less dominated by mass, looking more like an idol with a personal trainer. Understandable, since his specialty is in offense, and Shield is built to take a good beating. Len has a much tighter body by comparison, with a thinner waistline, and less accentuated muscle tone. His hair is longer than Shield's, too, laying straight and reaching just below his shoulder blades. Like Ken's, his hair is colored black, but halfway down it blends into the purple typically found on an Aegislash's cloth.

They both share lightly tanned skin with silver-gray streaks found throughout, as well as golden eyes that shine when they smile. Or when they're angry. Or when there's light shining on them at all, for that matter. It helps them see at night, creeps people out sometimes, and does a good job of blinding people with eye contact.

They don't possess any weapons or armor. Rather, they are. Most of their Pokémon powers manifest within their bodies, but there are a few moves where they give it a corporeal form. (Shadow Ball and Sacred Sword, for example.)

BACKGROUND: Ken and Len were one of two Aegislash compatibility experiments. The first one had died only a year before the twins'... acquisition, unable to handle Aegislash's ability to change its direction of energy. Ken and Len, however, were much younger than this first experiment at the time of their kidnapping—they originally thought an "old soul" would be more compatible, but his inability to adapt led to his death. So, they kidnapped a pair of twins.

They were curious kids that constantly got themselves into trouble for trying to play with and watch the wild Pokémon outside Cerulean City, their hometown; they were different from captured and trained Pokémon that could be found in town, and they were interested. When you looked for the most annoying person in town, it was these two: the kids who wanted to do everything and know everything; the ones who'd ask everyone "Why?" if they didn't understand something. They weren't the best at either, but obviously they kept trying. To get to know the wild Pokémon better, he even took to fighting them personally if there were no potential opponents around. It almost killed them once, had their father, a trainer from Unova, not intervened in time. Yet, it still didn't get them to stop. Rather, it just made them more determined.

"If I understood them better, I wouldn't have lost." Ken also probably wouldn't have been in a wheelchair for a month afterwards.

In their mid-teens, Ken and Len never lost their childish outlook (and got stronger in the process), and a few more trips to the hospital only made it difficult to keep them around. Then, one day, they both just disappeared. They were gone in the middle of the night.

An odd thing the scientists found in their downtime was that Aegislash's DNA changed slightly whenever it swapped stances. Ken was given its Shield Forme's DNA, and Len its Blade Forme. They responded well—much better than the guy who died. Instead of growing a sword and shield, the twins became them, Aegislash's powers manifesting almost entirely within their bodies. (With the exception of a particular few that take a corporeal form.)

FEATURES|Positive
  • Able to fight offensively and defensively at the same time, rather than changing battle style.
  • Skin harder than steel, and exceptional strength to match.
  • Psychically connected, so they can always reach and communicate with each other.

FEATURES|Negative
  • They are completely incapable of using each other's moves.
  • They cannot stay separated for long; they need to stay within a certain vicinity of each other, even though their psychic tether extends farther than this threshold.

Work in progress in the spoiler

Spoiler:
Name: Sebastien Archibequ

Age: 20

Pokemon Species: Lucario

Personality: Excitable would probably be the first word that comes to mind when it comes to describing Sebastien. It almost appears as if the guy doesn't know how to sit still whether it's while listening to a lecture or reading a book. The guy isn't very patient when it comes to waiting, and tends to be reckless when it comes to decisions. Sebastien is never one to stop and listen to the advice of others as that'd involve waiting around which he doesn't have the patience for. The guy is also very stubborn when it comes to his opinions and won't back down when it comes to arguments. Not to mention with the way the boy acts he tends to get into arguments a lot.

When he's not being extremely stubborn or extremely reckless, Sebastien is a really friendly person. It doesn't really take much for him to consider someone a friend at that. Boundaries is a concept that the boy doesn't seem to know about or just doesn't care about. If he's feeling extremely happy then he'll attempt to hug a person regardless of how they may or may not feel about personal space. The guy's just really affectionate when it comes to things like friendship, and doesn't even think about it when his affection sort of invades personal space. Of course he knows when to back off when things start to feel awkward, but he's generally an affectionate person. He's very talkative as well, so in his mind it isn't very hard making friends.

Just a little absent-minded, Sebastien tends to forget the reasoning behind why he does something. The boy tends to be just a little bit forgetful and tends to misplace his things from time to time. Still when it comes down to it a slight case of forgetfulness won't actually stop him from doing much. Whether it's through some sense of determination or misplaced courage, Sebastien likes to see the things he does through.

Appearance: (At least 2 - 3 paragraphs please. See the Gijinka Guidelines above.)

Background: (At least 2 - 3 paragraphs please.)

Features - Positive: (See features section above.)

Features - Negative:

Roleplay sample In this case, this does not need to be related to this RP, just give me a general example of your writing.)

Not sure I am very happy with it, but my SU is finished. My mind was being pulled in all different directions for this character, I just hope she came out coherent enough. xD

@Gene

Reservations for everybody! Only... not, since Gene makes 8 and we are now closed! Those holding reservations now have three days to complete their SUs or show me an almost complete SU or their slots will be opened up again.

And Sovereign, you might not be happy with your SU but I am, Elsie is accepted! Getting some interesting characters and takes on the Gijinka powers in here, I'm looking forwards to seeing how things go.

Your roleplay sample is pretty good which is a big plus but your Appearance/Personality could use a bit of work. Appearance is less of an issue since clothing usually makes up a big part of that and your characters don't have any but could you try and expand the personality a bit more? See the other signups for a rough estimate on what it should be (Though you don't have to match them for length, we've had some really good signups)

Think about how Eddie would act in different situations. What are his hopes and dreams, are they different to before he was kidnapped? What is he like when he's scared? How will he react to being turned into a mutant? Just things like that, give us more of an idea who Eddie is and what sort of person he is; there are a lot of little intricacies to a person when you think about it, you just need to put some of the little fine details from inside your mind somewhere where we can see them.
