Who did you marry in your game in your first playthrough, second playthrough, third etc.?

Cherche - Was initially going for Sully, though I accidentally married her to Chrom, but then Cherche was introduced and I liked her more. Loved her support conversations too, with the wyvern match-making :3

Cordelia - She and Severa were two of the only characters I completely neglected on my first playthrough, and I liked her personality. Now if only she would quit pining for Chrom once she gets married...

In other news, Genealogy is currently kicking my ass. In chapter 2.

That's why I married Cordelia to Stahl. It was pretty cute how she said that she didn't care about Chrom anymore and that she wanted to be with him. Or something along these lines

Welcome! Blazing Sword is great! i gets kinda hard later on but its one of the most Fire Emblem games imo. Also i like Ike and Tellius series since its story deters from generic Fire Emblem formula by making the main character a mercenary instead of a lord right off the bat. now if only the gamecube emulator didnt close itself randomly

genealogy is way too hard! what i dont like about it is unless you have pursuit you cant double anyone

I am waiting for the day when a "lord" character will have a bow as his or her starting weapon.

I honestly just used Cordelia to get Severa... And then I kind of benched Cordelia... a lot... ;D

It's been a long time.
Anyways, Genealogy of the Holy War is pretty...unique. It's pretty hard, I haven't even got past chapter 1. I haven't played it since...7 months?

Which other games have you guys tried?

I don't get why people pick on Cordelia for that when Tharja is more obsessive towards the Avatar...

Anyway, those are standard speeches. They don't have much weight IMO. In every event that happens only when she's already married, she says she's happy with her husband. They even went as far as writing a whole romance scene between her and the Avatar in the DLC to make things clear. So I do believe Cordelia gets over Chrom whenever she marries someone, even Frederick, in whose support it's left ambiguous.

I wouldn't say too hard, but the larger maps and huge enemy clusters do take some getting used to after the much smaller, quicker skirmishes in Awakening. It's quite satisfying to capture an entire enemy country in a single chapter, though. You MUST arena grind though, which I kinda hate. Not a fan of Pursuit being a skill, so glad they got rid of that in the later games. Any unit that doesn't have it or a similar skill is almost always just doomed to be mediocre, apparently. Poor Noish.

I struggled with the prologue and chapter 1, but I think by the end of chapter 2 I've now gotten the hang of it, though there's no way to get some things, like the Hero weapons, without looking up a guide for the very specific method. Story and characters are excellent though, favourite units so far are Levin and Sylvia.

Only discovered Awakening mid-2013, based on a friend's recommendation, and needless to say I got pretty hooked pretty fast. :D So I then went back and played Sacred Stones, Fire Emblem 7 and Binding Blade, and have recently started the beast that is Genealogy of the Holy War. Didn't intend to play all the games in reverse order, but that's how it worked out.

Only picked up on Severa's amazingness during my second, current playthrough, but I can't actually imagine having an Awakening team without her, now. Galeforce, along with dat crit chance!

Genealogy is hard, but don't worry. It gets easier once Ayra (or however her name was localized) and her offspring start annihilating everything in sight with Meteor. XD

Let's see, the Fire Emblems I've played are Shadow Dragon, Genealogy, Binding Blade, Blazing Sword, Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, and Awakening.

I married Lissa first, just to see what would happen with the S supports. On my second file, I married Lucina (mother was Olivia if it matters).

I've played through 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 13. I've also played some of 6 and 12. I poked Gaiden but got bored within minutes. I think I'll Geneology of the Holy War soon. For whoever said Geneology of the Holy War was bad, try the Shin Patch.

Bought Radiant Dawn second-hand on eBay today, for $80 Australian dollars. It was that, or a new one for about $160. :/

I'm actually not finding Ayra to be that OP so far. Maybe I'm not doing it right, but she's slightly less fast and powerful than some of my mounted units (Sigurd, Quan, Finn, Lex, Beowulf) and way more frail, with Meteor only rarely kicking in, usually when it's not needed at all (also the story of Lonqu's Astra and Lethality in Awakening >_<)

Her kids, on the other hand, I've heard amazing things about. Pairing her with Lex, so looking forward to some Elite/Meteor kids later on. Halfway through chapter 3 at the moment.

I FOUND PATH OF RADIANCE FOR $16.95 <3 Normally it'd come as 59.99 ~ 129.99 or so, but, I was a regular at my retailer, and I got a special deal!

I was wrong about the game - it's just as amazing as Radiant Dawn! And the gameplay works just as well! Right now I'm fighting a bunch of Pirate Ravens in a Ship while guarding the Apostle. Claaaassic stuffz~

Speaking of PoR, I'm still stuck on the chapter where your base is surrounded by enemies. My units were underleveled, despite playing on Easy mode.

I bought Gaiden the other day, and I'm still waiting for it in the mail! Next I aim to buy Mystery of the Emblem for.. over $55, but, it's worth it, imo!

Hm, on an unrelated note, you know, this club has been running for a good while now; why don't I make an emblem for all us members of this club, since we're allowed to? <3

Do you understand Japanese, or do you buy them as collectors items?

So I just got to THAT part after chapter 5 in Genealogy.

Spoiler:
Wow. I knew there was a second generation, but I wasn't expecting a complete meteor massacre of all my characters, that was brutal. Is this the only Fire Emblem game that's had the guts to actually kill off all the characters half-way through?

I already played a translated ROM patch of Fire Emblem Gaiden, so, I already know what happens, pretty much. Other than that, yeah, I'm starting to build a collection!

In Awakening, I'd waaaay prefer to pick what my avatar said. 'Cos I wanted to feel like I was in that world, saying what I wanted to say. That would have been way more fun, but meh... I guess it's okay, tho the occasional yes and no isn't enough to make me feel like the choice is mine. xD

As you can see I'm pretty indecisive about favorites :D I had to fight the urge to just say "all".

Spoiler:

How many Fire Emblem games have you played and which ones?
I've played 6,7,8,,11 (if that's what we call Shadow Dragon) and 13, to completion. I've also played the old school geology but my rom got deleted... I've been looking for a way to play PoR and RD but short of buying the old systems I can't think of one.
Who is the best Fire Emblem protagonist in your opinion, and why?
Chrom, He just seems much deeper then the previous Lords, of the games I've played, plus he looks cool. A close second would be Ephraim.
What do you think Excellus' gender is?
I totally thought he was an ugly woman, but after the dialogue turns out it's a dude. Though Aversa makes it sound like he's a eunuch.

I'd answer the marriage ones but...that would take awhile....

Welcome! sorry to say this but i cant reallly put 4 characters as your favorite characters so if it isnt much trouble for you, could you reduce them to at most 2? thanks anyway it seems we played the same games i think shadow dragon was a bit underwhelming but all the gba ones and awakening are great. Also i agree on Chrom being one of the most active and powerful Lord in Fe (except Sigurd but he is an another story) with Hector being a close second imo. Ephraim is great too but i found that he winds up a bit weaker than other units but hey he is a great character anyway. I hope you enjoy here!

So I've stumbled upon this post from Smashboards regarding FEA, and I was wondering if you guys think this is legit to hate the game for "ruining" the series despite saving it from getting discontinued:

Quote:
I don't know if I would call it hate exactly. But the hype as died down now and the big FE fans have been able to look at the game more critically. When I first played the game I would have rated it as a 9.5/10, now as a stand alone game I would probably rate it 8/10 but when compared to past FE games I've played I would give it a 6.5/10. It's still a good game and I love it like I love any FE game, but when I stopped and thought about I noticed all of these flaws with it. It's great that it saved the series and brought in new people. But for long time FE fans there are just all the flaws that bring it down for us after the hype died.

It's more to do with;

-Pair Up function was great in theory, but in practice it became unbalanced. It made Normal and Hard mode jokes but Lunatic mode mad it a requirement and nothing was guaranteed. It has the potential to be great but it needs to be balanced more.
-Uninspired and boring maps with the constantly same goal of route the map or kill the boss. The maps were also way to big at times and making strategy seem moot on most of them.
-Story that is all over the place. 1st arc was good enough. 2nd arc seemed like filler and could have been done away with and was eh. 3rd arc was also eh.
-Quantity over quality.
-Sucky convoy and shop navigation
-Time travel

Those are the biggest ones.
Could the rise of the popularity of dating sims caused IS to take such a move on their franchise?

10/10 still hyped.

Real though, the pair-up function made everything a walk in the park. And I totally agree with the second one. I really would've liked some escape maps, and I missed the defend/survive maps. Also, it would've been rad if they made new win conditions. That's all I've got to complain about off the top of my head (but those came from that post, so they aren't really "mine" XD).

I have no issue with time travel or dating sims.

How many Fire Emblem games have you played and which ones?
I'm fairly new to playing the Fire Emblem series. Roy and Marth in Super Smash Bros got me interested enough in playing some of the GBA games. Fire Emblem Awakening is the first one I actually own, though. My friends were so addicted to it and all that I picked up this one about a month ago.

Who did you marry in Awakening and why?
Lilith married Chrom because I felt that's how the story should go.

What do you think Excellus' gender is?
Ewwww don't remind me of him. I'm pretty sure the text said referred to him as male. I thought he was indeed a mean old hag at first. I haven't beat the game yet. I'm on like, Chapter 20.

What is the most annoying thing that has ever happened to you in Fire Emblem?
Training Olivia and Maribelle can be mortifying as they're both weak in attacking and pathetic in tanking a hit. I would like to recruit their children before beating the game. I'm playing on Normal Casual so the children are making mincemeat out of enemies, but if they weren't present, I'd feel like I'm missing part of the gang.
