Hello everyone, I have yet another grass team! The other one was doing well, but not as well as I think I could do, so I made a new one. Unlike my previous teams, this one has a focus on defense. I think this is a semi-stall team, but I've never used one before, so I don't exactly know what that is. I've been doing pretty well so far, but more importantly, I'm playing more consistently. I no longer feel like it's a gamble when I battle, which I'm enjoying very much. I tried to make it as defensive as possible, but with my style, I had to put some offense in here as well.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball

Once again, Ferrothorn is here to bring the hazards. Ferrothorn is meant to get as many hazards out as possible and to possibly drain some life with Leech Seed. Gyro Ball is there so Ferrothorn isn't complete taunt bait and so I can use it to take out a couple threats if need be. I'm not sure about the EV spread, but I wanted to give a Rocky Helmet set a try. I have to admit, I'm missing leftovers a little bit.

Ludicolo @ Damp Rock
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Rain Dance
- Scald
- Giga Drain
- Ice Beam

Ludicolo is here to relieve some of my fire weakness. It has respectable bulk and can normally take a couple hits before going down, which is all I need for that Rain Dance. Once it's going, it's incredibly hard to stop and I can usually take a couple pokemon down before being forced to switch or Ludicolo goes down itself. I decided to go for an offensive set since I was using the defensive set earlier, and it just wasn't working. Maybe someone can post a few defensive sets and I can try those out, but this one is working out pretty well.

Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 SAtk
Sassy Nature
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain
- Sleep Powder
- Earthquake

Have no fear, Megasaur is here! Since this is a defensive team, Megasuar is running more of a support set, which is both great and terrible at the same time. On the bright side, I can make opposing threats fall asleep and breath easy as I no longer have to worry about them. On the other hand, Megasaur can't do anything against flying types, so that's not so great. Megasaur is a great tank and a valuable member to this team nonetheless.

Tangrowth @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SAtk
Relaxed Nature
- Knock Off
- Giga Drain
- Ancient Power
- Synthesis

My typical physical wall. Unlike my previous set, I did some calculations. The 48 defense EVs will give it enough bulk to survive an attack from Talonflame, while the 208 special attack EVs will give me enough power to OHKO it right back with Ancient Power. Knock Off is also new and is there to make Chansey and other pokemon that rely on their items nearly useless. It's worked pretty well so far and I'm glad I made the switch.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 220 HP / 36 Spd
Modest Nature
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Earth Power
- Giga Drain

That's right, I'm actually using a legendary. Celebi is my special wall and can pretty much handle anything of the sort. I'm wondering about Dazzling Gleam though. It has come in handy a couple times, but I'm wondering if I should switch it out for Toxic, or Recover.

Whimsicott @ Flame Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
- Switcheroo
- Memento
- Taunt
- Moonblast

Whimsicott is here to completely mess with the opponent. It has a great movepool to take advantage of. Moonblast is there so Whimsicott isn't complete taunt bait. I'm happy because even Sableye isn't a threat anymore with Whimsicott. Plus, if any physical attacker comes along, I can just burn them and everything will be fine.

So there's my team so far. I've had some success with it, but I feel like it could be so much better. I'm open to any and all advice and I thank you in advance for taking the time to do this.

While running Spikes/Stealth Rock/Leech Seed seems tempting, I don't think that's worth it, as Ferrothorn might have to attack while it's setting up:
-Stealth Rock/Spikes
-Leech Seed
-Gyro Ball/Thunder Wave
-Power Whip/Protect
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP/48 Def/208 SDef
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs

I'd recommend using a Relaxed nature on Tangrowth so that Knock Off's power isn't ruined. Remember that it got buffed big-time this generation.

Celebi needs Earth Power more than Dazzling Gleam. Damaging Steels, especially Heatran, is a lot more important than damaging Dragons, IMO. They're covered by Psychic anyways. Nasty Plot also gives Celebi a bigger boost in Special Attack, so 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe is the preferred spread here with a Timid nature. Also consider:
-Giga Drain/Psychic
-Heal Bell
-Thunder Wave
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP/224 Def/32 Spe
Item: Leftovers

-Leaf Storm
-Psychic/Earth Power
-Hidden Power (Fire/Rock)
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 Def/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Leftovers/Life Orb

Whimsicott learns Moonblast. Use it over Dazzling Gleam.

Sorry about not getting back to you in a timely manner, but I had to wait until I was at college to start battling.

Anyway, I made all the changes and it's going pretty well so far. I'm happy with them, so thanks once again!
