60 Days of Unova Challenge!

Welcome to the Unova region! In this series (which will span over a four month period) you'll be asked to complete a number of tasks and will experience Unova in a whole different light.

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 1: Accumula Town

You've been wandering for hours trying to catch more Pokémon than Bianca and Cheren. They already moved on to Accumula Town but you're determined to catch as many as you can. You're going to be a Pokémon Master someday. But maybe not today. You hear a sound in the woods nearby. You look through the tree branches and see a super intimidating man and a guy in grey. You're confused, but you keep watching them until you accidentally let out a sneeze.

The man turns to you. You go to run but you trip. He approaches you and asks if you would help him make a slogan for his speech later today at Accumula Town Square. You're surprised that he picked you but you want to do your best.

Your challenge: Create an effective slogan for the intimidating man. It has to be something to do with liberating Pokémon. You want it to be as convincing as possible.

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 2: Nacrene City

You've beaten Striaton City Gym, foiled what you now know was a Team Plasma plot and even stopped by the daycare. That strange man? He was a bad guy. You feel bad for helping him but you're determined to track him down and foil all of his plans.

But first? It's time to take on Lenora. You heard she's pretty strong but you don't know any of the Pokémon she uses. You also don't know where exactly she is in Nacrene City but that just makes your journey more fun! Before you take a step into Nacrene City you see some grass shaking out of the corner of your eye. You investigate.

A wild Audino appeared!

Your challenge: Turn on your game and catch an Audino in the little grass patch right before Nacrene City. Name it after a character you've encountered in your journey so far. Use it to battle Lenora! Alternatively if you've beaten Lenora - level it up and battle it against one of the Elite Four members!

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 3: Return to Daycare!

You successfully beat Lenora but realise a lot of your Pokemon are under leveled. You can't really continue on through Pinwheel Forest until you train your team a bit more. You've battled everyone nearby and you've gotten tons of experience... and your team is getting full. You don't really want to leave a Pokemon in the PC box if you don't have to. You think "what's the best way to level up a Pokemon and not have to leave it in your PC box?" Then suddenly it hits you. The daycare! You only went for a look earlier but you think your elemental monkey will gain a lot from what the daycare has to teach.

Your challenge: Put your elemental monkey in the daycare for a bit. While you travel through the region your monkey can gain valuable experience that it can't get anywhere else! If you're playing post-game or don't have your monkey anymore, catch a wild Blitzle, name it what your monkey would have been (so name your Blitzle either Pansear, Panpour or Pansage) and collect it later!

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 4: Double Trouble

You start walking back towards Nacrene City. You've just deposited your elemental monkey in the daycare and let it know that you'll be back soon. You hope. You hear a voice calling you, "Hilda, Hilda". It's Cheren! He tells you about this really cool thing called double battle grass. But the Pokémon on this route aren't strong enough to really gain anything out of it. Cheren tells you that just past Nacrene City, there's this location just before Pinwheel Forest that has incredibly strong Pokémon. They'd be perfect to have a double battle with! Cheren suggested that you should battle the nurse nearby. If you beat her, she'll become your ally and make sure your Pokémon aren't hurt.

Run into the double battle grass (just before Pinwheel Forest) and get into a double battle!

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 5: Exploring Castelia

Your team is looking strong so you decide to wander through Pinwheel Forest. You go to step on a leaf but you get swallowed up in a net. Confused and scared you call out for help. A forest Ranger comes to your rescue. She explains Pinwheel Forest is no place for kids and you should only properly explore it when you're older. You take her advice and run towards Skyarrow Bridge. You stop for a moment and take in the sights. You're on the most magnificent and extravagant bridge ever created. You try not to get too distracted... it's time to head into Castelia City for the first time. You're initially overwhelmed - the city is gigantic and all you can hear is a song constantly playing. You can only make out "big lights will inspire you". You certainly feel inspired at this point. You stumble across a Casteliacone vendor. You just HAVE to try one, it's all the rage. You can't help but think this is going to be the eventual reason for the extinction of the Vanilluxe family. You eventually find your way to a bench to sit down on. You've explored Castelia so much that you need a break. But then...

"H E L L O. W I L L Y O U A N S W E R A S U R V E Y?"

You're so shocked you almost fall off the bench and onto what almost looks like a Celebi... with red stripes. You're so confused but you continue to listen.

I named my Audino Joy, after Nurse Joy, obviously, and caught her in a Heal ball too! We need to do a little training before we face Lenora though!

I can't really think of a memorable Audino moment! I don't think I used one much when I first played. I was shallow and didn't like the ears!

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 6: Nimbasa Interact-A V.1!

You eventually escape the crazy survey lady but then find yourself in the middle of a gigantic desert. You're feeling pretty lost, and you encounter a Sandile that won't stop following you. BUT THEN, SUDDENLY OUT OF NOWHERE...You reach the gate to Nimbasa City! The guard at the gate tells you that in two years something amazing is due to be in its place. Kind of sucks that you're here now and not then but whatever. Onwards to Nimbasa! Everything is so bright that you put on your sunglasses. You eventually meet Bianca there, who is busy being yelled at by her father. She gives him an emotional speech and everything is all well and good. You two chat for a few hours and realise that she's not ditzy, she's just... not sure what she's doing yet. You wonder what you should do in Nimbasa, there's just so much happening. Bianca suggests you head to the Pokemon Musicals. They're apparently fun and something she's always wanted to do... but then you see a basketball player. You two follow the basketball player and learn about the Nimbasa City Dome (and the battles that happen there). That's it. That's where you're going first.

Head to either dome and challenge a trainer!

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 7: Nimbasa Interact-A V.2!

The battle at the sports dome took it completely out of you... so you and Bianca decide to sleep in the middle of the stadium. Eventually a sports game occurs and you get kicked out. AND THEN IT HITS YOU. You HAVE to go to the musicals. Bianca can enjoy them (and participate in them?) and you can sleep... unless Bianca forces you to participate. .

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 8: Something Cold Shines Nearby!

After competing in the musicals you feel ready to continue your journey. You part ways with Bianca, knowing that it won't be long until you see her again. You catch up with Cheren and pay some street performers to leave you alone. You also get involved in something dodgy involving mushrooms and a cook but you would rather not go into it. You're about to walk onto Driftveil Drawbridge when a feather falls down in front of you. Then another. And then another. You spend most of the day collecting them until you realise it's like super late and you did plan on exploring Driftveil City at some point. You heard whispers that Team Plasma was nearby at a cold place. You don't really know what cold place they're talking about because you feel like you're in the wild west when in Driftveil. The wild west doesn't generally have cold areas... OR SO YOU THINK! You eventually find your way to Cold Storage, a really cool place. Literally so cool its name had to tell you how awesomely cool it is. Before you head in, something catches your eye...

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 10: A Storm is Brewing!

You've just beaten Skyla and almost got trampled by a plane (Skyla was more worried about the plane than you, it seemed). That's okay though, you want to level up for a bit in Route 7. These clown looking guys approach you and you try to avoid them but they just make funny faces. So you do what any sane trainer would do: run! You get lost and notice the sky is getting darker. You've heard rumours that somewhere around here a legendary Pokémon appears... although you were told that it only appears to trainers that have defeated a certain gym leader. Turns out that you're the exception. The storm gets worse and a legendary Pokémon appears in front of you. Not sure if you should be terrified or not but you step forward, preparing to face the storm.

Describe what Tornadus and Thundurus SHOULD have done to Unova. The storm was weak and nobody was hurt. How would have you made their appearance more realistic?

Thundurus or Tornadus - which was most terrifying?
Are they worthy of their legendary status?
Did Landorus get the short end of the stick?

60 Days of Unova Challenge Day 11: The Gang

Congrats, you encountered a legendary, beat another gym leader (Brycen) and you're now on a journey to Opelucid City. You encounter this incredibly creepy Pokemon (it's apparently called Stunfisk and it won't kill you) and you're tempted to catch it... but then you remember Stunfisk is weird and there's much better Pokemon to catch. You make your way to Tubeline Bridge and encounter Ghetsis. Yes, that creep is back. He gives you a speech and you ignore it. You try to walk away but then you're stopped by this biker gang. The Black Empoleon. They want to battle you but it's Friday night and you're tired. You had to deal with Ghetsis and his stupid speech now you have to defeat these losers? You take them on and then they worship you for some reason. They want to rename their gang after your lead Pokemon.

Battle the Black Empoleon (and possibly catch a Stunfisk for the fun of it).

So... The Black Empoleon. Was that not the stupidest idea ever or what? What would've you rather the gang originally be called?

Were you disappointed you didn't encounter them anywhere else? Like if we could have someone as evil as Ghetsis, why not have a biker gang taking over Unova?
